Can't flash any LP ROM, no problems with KK ROMs - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I try to flash CM12 or ResurrectionRemix, this "error" comes up in the log. Problem is that although it says it succeeded, when I reboot it throws me back into the bootloader meaning the ROM probably didn't get flashed. I am on A5_UL with S-OFF, using latest TWRP3. I successfully flashed Carbon ROM and MokeeOS. Could anyone point me in the right direction with this, I never really had any problems with flashing ROMs.

curious, you ever update to official lollipop?
the hboot and firmware are different than kk. but still, it's odd.
send me /tmp/recovery.log after an install if you want, or pastebin it or something.
may have a clue there.

Sorry for the slow reply, I needed to reflash the CyanogenMod ROM in order to get the recovery log.
I updated to official LP the instant it came out, don't ask why - I was coming to the Desire 816 from a very old phone and the idea of having Lollipop was so endearing that the potential consequences completely flew over my head.
After I got S-OFF I switched back to KK but it wasn't usable because of the WiFi issues which caused me to flash LP back.
I'm on the latest LP update now.
Recovery log file is in the attachment, I cut everything out except the last flashing part since I've done backups and those dump sensitive data into the log.

it flashed system OK from the look of it.
maybe not the boot.img, though. you could extract it from the zip and try to boot or flash that with fastboot (or twrp3 can flash it)
off topic, how did you s-off this thing? you might be able to flash a kk ruu and get your firmware back.

I'll try the external boot.img method next time I try a ROM, but for now I'm on Android MM stock.
I S-OFFed this thing by paying a bit expensive price for the Sunshine S-OFF tool. Don't worry, I have tried all RUU's and the KK one is not really useful because of the WiFi issues. I'm now experimenting with HTC's Marshmallow but I keep a lot of nandroid backups.
Regarding S-OFF, I couldn't resist because I hate having usage of a device I own restricted in such a menial way. I'll also take a chance to say "**** HTC" for this because they went out of their way to restrict the write access to /system, something which should be a big no-no in today's world.

by the time I got mine, there was custom recovery and source, so the /system thing was only annoying while I was waiting for my sim card to arrive so I could activate on stock.
Thanks for the s-off info.
If HTC takes too long for chl marshmallow, I may beg you for a /system dump.

I'd be glad to help but I'm not really sure if /system could contain any personifying information? Nothing personal but for the sake of me sleeping well, I'd rather avoid sharing such a thing unless really needed. Also, I'm UL - the most popular variant out there so I'm sure you could easily find someone else to share his /system partition.

/system is what's left after a factory reset. so no personal data.
I just want /system/lib, /system/vendor/lib, /system/bin, and /system/etc mostly. I don't need the huge /system/app and priv-app.
regardless, I wouldn't want to put you out or eat your data bandwidth. No biggie.
Silly htc, according to the cm source, ul is only different from chl in a couple little things. not sure why they're delaying my variant release.
I'll wait or find an existing dump. OT'd your thread enough, eh?

Thank you for telling me exactly what you need, it makes it easier for me to quickly glance over what kind of information I am putting out in the open. I'll try to make it available as soon as tomorrow but you'd have to tell me how to actually do the dump since I never had the need to do it myself. Is it an uncompressed nandroid backup or...?
Don't worry about me tripping my data cap, here where I live we don't have caps and our connection is competent to say the least.
Regarding HTC, it's always complications about these variants and little things. If I were to make a company oriented specifically around smartphones, I'd run it similarly to Xiaomi. Little selection of phones but great support. I love how Samsung releases dozens of phones a year and most of them lose official support shortly after. In the end it all ends up smelling like a marketing ploy. And ah, no problem with the thread - I love the chatter ;]

The nandroid is easiest to deal with.
Just leave out the data.* and recovery.log files, to get rid of any personal info, but include the rest: system and boot and any info/md,5 then zip that up.
That assumes twrp, I can unpack cwm easy enough too, but haven't used it in quite a while to list filenames.
I'm sure the ones to leave out are *data* and log even in cwm.
The boot.img is useful too, I can check my existing ramdisk files against official MM.
That and the system dump are for updated config files and proprietary blobs to hopefully make cm13 run more smoothly.
If you want to uncompress the backup and slim it down to bin, etc, lib, and vendor, that's fine too.

That last option is the most inviting one, but how do I unpack TWRP backups? This question haunted me for as long as I knew how to do nandroid backups.

Linux archiver, they're ext4 images
they might need to be renamed
the boot. img is harder to unpack, and definitely does not have any user information in it anyway.

[Q] What does a rooted phone look like?

I'm inching closer and closer to rooting my Wildfire S, daunting as it seems. I'm not that fussed about custom ROMs (yet) but more in removing the useless crap that's currently filling up my internal memory... However, one thing I haven't found on the internet is what I'll actually end up with when it finally gets rooted.
I understand that it's not gonna change everything and make it all shiny, but does it unlock additional options/tickboxes/menus? Does it have a different UI to the regular "explorer"? Or does it mean I need to learn command line (<-- dealbreaker btw) ... In what format do these additional superpowers come?
TIA
Oh, and while I'm at it: When it comes to uninstalling useless crApps (such as Orange TV), is it just going to add the Apps to the list of applications in Settings>Applications>Manage Applications? Or is it completely different?
Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm the only person I know with a smartphone who wants to root it... and this whole learning process is making me feel a bit like amoron
A rooted phone is a lot like a unicorn galloping over a colorful rainbow.

Rooted phones grow two little green legs, two little green arms and two little green antennae and start walking around the palm of your hand. Custom ROMs can make them dance every time you touch the screen.

/\ those two seem very inclined to help. I kind of was in the same boat as you until I did alot (hours) of reading of articles and forums. I only just rooted this week. rooting changes almost nothing about the phone itself, atleast to the eye. its akin to having administrator privileges on a computer. it will install an app called superuser which is how you will grant rooted apps permission to access system files and such that would normally be off limits, because of carrier or manufactuer limitations. Rooting is really just the first step that allows you to begin truly customizing your phone. cosmetically nothing will change. I highly recommend, after you root, but before you strat fooling with anything, to download titanium backup which will allow you to back up your entire collection of apps and their data. then you are going to want to get clockworkmod recovery, which replaces the stock recovery, and will allow you to make a system backup,(boot image) and also is a very useful tool for effortlessly installing custom ROM's and other system tasks.

Hi,
I rooted my wildfire s a few weeks ago. Im assuming you have already unlocked the bootloader. Next thing i did was to flash clockworkmod before rooting and make a nandroid backup.
Next i rooted via cwm using a root.zip file.
Once rooted via the root.zip you will have a superuser app installed. Now download titanium backup and install. When you run this it requests superuser permissions via superuser app and you allow it by "choosing "yes".
Titanium backup allows you to then choose apps to uninstall but note that it often cant restore system apps so if you mess up the phone boot into recovry/cwm and restore from cwm backup you made earlier.
Your phone wont have extra options etc but you can install apps that need root/superuser access via superuser app.
You do gain access to the root id via command line but unless you are familiar with linux in general you may want to stay away from it.
If you want some detailed instructions in cwm flashing and rooting then let me know and i will tell you exactly how i did it.

Thanks guys that was really useful! I didn't know superuser was an actual app, and yeah I was worried about command line so that's reassuring...
Scott, I haven't actualy unlocked the bootloader yet, I'm waiting til I completely understand the process before I actually do anything to avoid screw-ups.
TBH, I was going to use Unlock Root... is there anything to be gained/lost by opting for the 1-click solution?
As for the offers of assistance, I may hold you to that in the near future! thanks a lot!

after taht you will want a custom recovery, and in my signature there is link to 'Taking Screenshots on your device' there you have some screens of custom recovery, and in the end of post you can find explanation of each image... made just for guys like you ...
Superuser - yes its an app but i would guess that under the covers its doing an 'su' command somehow to switch to the root id, or irs just alliwing other apps to use 'su'.
I unlocked via htcdev as i thought there was a better chance of it working as it was the official method and im sure the wildfire s is hard to unlock via unofficial methods

[Q] Debranding and Rooting O2 uk

I'm new to android phones so kinda looking at some hand holding atm.
My phone is O2 but atm I'm using tesco's sim in it. When I put a sim in it asks me 2 options and I just select pay as you go (planning to switch to giffgaff at some point).
So a few questions. I want to debrand my phone from all the O2 stuff. Whats the best way to do this?
1: Root it and flash the latest stock rom on it? Or just root it and delete all the 02 stuff from it.
2: If I put a new stock rom on it will the phone still be sim unlocked?
3: I've read a lot of posts about backing up data and stuff but still not 100% how to do this. Could I make a back-up of the whole phone as it is now so that if I do something wrong I can just re-flash it with the original 02 stuff included? In other words can I make a copy of the firmware that is already on there. Not worried about the data.
EDIT: Think I've answered this myself. I can use Rom Manager to back it up to sd card and then put it on my pc for future use if needed.
4: Found this on the forums somewhere. It's for sgs2 but guess the apps are the same as the sgw when it comes to safe removal. Safe apps to removel
Cheers
Think I've answered most of my questions except the most important one to me. So if anyone can help be most appreciative.
As I said my phone is branded with o2 stuff and when I put the sim in it asks me my payment plan, pay monthly or pay as you go (I'm using a tesco sim not o2 and it works fine). If I flash the phone with a stock rom via odin will my phone still be unlocked and just de-branded, or will some nasty o2 bite me in bum and lock my sim to o2 now? Don't want to risk it if that will happen.
Cheers

To back out, just tap OK button.......
If SIM locked, there is presently no method that is not paid-for, unless someone has come up with a method recently!! So, you will have to pay someone for SIM unlock, based on your IMEI......usually about £15-£20. [To get IMEI from Dialler: *#06#]
Don't like that Payment Plan message....my Phone is on Tesco Ireland network, and I get no messages!!! SIM unlocked should not get messages, IMHO.
BTW, I would not use ROM Manager on this phone, it is not supported, there is no CWM Recovery in ROM Manager list for Galaxy W [GT-i8150].....
be very careful!! you could Brick Phone!!!
Best thing is to Flash CWM for this phone, via ODIN, and do a Nandroid back-up, save to external sd, there is an option, otherwise Nandroid will go to Internal USB Storage....
this will be a snap-shot of everything on your Phone at the moment of back-up.....including all Apps and Data on Internal Storage....
External SD Card is not backed up by Nandroid presently, but it should remain as is, unless you wipe it, or modify data on it.....so moved apps will still be there, for example.
But, before you do, check unlock status, as above, and also is phone rooted, as you may need to root phone, and best way is with Stock Recovery.
Flashing Guides:
Arco's ClockworkMod Recovery Version 5.5.0.4
THE-E Guide to Flashing FW with ODIN, and more!!
Cheers for that Irishpancake. I checked on my phone and all are 'OFF' except Network Lock. So how is it I'm using a non o2 sim in it, Tescos? Guess I may have to pay for it to be unlocked.
I've read all of The-E's guide to flashing (D/L most of the files ready to go and put them in Odin, just not plugged my phone in) but will have to read up more about CWM. Do I do CWM first to back everything up then root the phone before flashing?
One other thing, In a previous post you put up a link to your drop box for a recovery md5. What is this for as I d/l it thinking it was a stock rom but noticed the small file size compared to The-E stock rom in his original post.
Sorry to be a pain but just want to be clear before I start.

Network Lock is normally called SIM Lock.....sorry, looks like your phone is locked to your SIM provider???
Perhaps O2 and Tesco have a relationship....in Ireland Tesco uses O2 Network, as a Virtual Operator, MVNO ...looking here it seems the same!!!
however, AFAIK, if you want to move to GiffGaff, for example, you will need Network Unlock....
If you want to Root, I suggest doing this before flashing CWM, as the best Root method requires Stock Recovery, which you already have!!!
Here is THE-E HowTo Guide for Root
After successful rooting, then follow the CWR Flash Guide, previously linked....
The Stock Recovery I hosted was as a favour for user QAU5881, who could not download from RapidShare, not a ROM, but what you have already!!!
but won't have once you flash CWM!!!
cheers, and Good Luck...and ask if there is anything else
Thanks Irishpancake. I was getting confused as to the difference between stock recovery and CWM and what they did. Found this which cleared my confusion up a lot. Basicly CWM gives you more options and if you don't want it flash back to stock for OTA updates.
One thing though. Once I unlock my phone it stays unlocked and flashing new roms on it won't bugger that up. Think I know the answer to that already but as I said in my first post, hand holding! Who knows, one day I may be of use to some other newbie and answer his questions.

Yeah, once network unlocked, stays unlocked!!!
There are more options in our CWR, as we have External SD, and internal SD....
so this is catered for in where back-ups are stored, and where device is restored from!!
But, don't forget, if you sre going to root phone, do it before you flash CWR, i.e. with Stock Recovery [This is default Samsung Recovery]...
Cheers Irishpancake. I have asked this on another thread but haven't got a reply so hoping you can help me once more
I've rooted it now and got CWM on it but can't find a uk stock rom. Someone said to use any Euro one but not sure they will support radio etc. Which one would you suggest?
Also if I do a back-up on cwm will it be just as my phone is now, including rom and apps I have on the internal sd. Guess it doesn't back up external one which is where I've D/L my stuff to!

Howya blitz.....
To answer second question first [I'm Irish ]....
A Nandroid bk-up is a snapshot of your device at this precise moment... including all device partitions....
it will include everything needed to restore your device to its current state.....
including all apps on Phone memory, related data stored on Internal SD/USB Storage....
but there will not be Apps on your internal SD, unless you have implemented mount-point swap??
There is presently no backup of external SD in our CWM.... but unless you wipe this, or alter data on external SD....it should be OK.....you should also regularly backup the external SD contents to your PC/Laptop, including all hidden folders and files....these will be your moved Apps!!! For security!!!
As for your first question, any of the Euro ROMs are safe to flash, as they all have common baseband/modem/phone mobile freq bands. And all have English Language and usually no Service Provider Branding...
my current Stock ROM is a Cosmote Romania from way back.... no probs whatsoever!!!
To flash the Stock ROM's you will need ODIN.....check out THE-E sticky!!!
which means you will lose root and maybe CWM Recovery...but these can be regained....
But, maybe time to consider some of the Custom GB ROM's....and we have CM9 also in Alpha 2... all rooted and flashable with CWM...no need for ODIN!!!!
You should head to the sticky section in Development.... loads of info there....

Cheers IrishPancake. No worries about second question first, I'm Cornish so it's how I would of done it!
I've been following the Dev ROMs including CM9 and also the camera topic in a different forum. Until that's working though I can wait. The stock does what I need but will definitely give CM9 a go when later as I fancy ICS and also donate to arco for his hard work when it's fully functional. Just needed a heads up and just D/L the CZECH rom so will flash that.
One other question, what would be a good app to view and delete bloat-ware? Going to follow the link in my first post as to what is safe to remove so all should be ok and if not I can re-flash.
Cheers.

Man....there are so many bloatware removers on the Market/Play, but if you have a list, as in your link, and you want to customize what you remove, here is a good project.........which is designed for Sammy Bloat stuff!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645301
You need:
CWM Recovery w/ ADB
USB Drivers
Rooted
Phone connected to PC with USB Debugging enabled.
Click to collapse
You could also need:
NotePad++ on your PC/Laptop.....
Perhaps you also may need adb.....below link to a pretty good tutorial for installing adb, and adding adb to path in Windows, for ease of use.....sorry if you are Mac man....I know nothing!!!
But, just a word of warning, don't remove TWLauncher unless you have another Launcher as default.....you could end up in trouble!!!
You can also batch install apks with this tool.....
I have not tried this, so you should carefully read instructions, such as they are!!
Otherwise, search Play, there are numerous bloat removers.....OK!!!
Cheers. I had had a look on Goggle Play but wasn't sure which would be the best one. The 'project' link you posted looks good but not sure if I just replace every bloatware apk with TWLauncher apk, so will have to read up on it if I go down that route.
Cheers for the help and so far, touch wood, I've not bricked my phone!

Hi all,
Just a bit of info for you if it's still needed. In the UK O2 unlock your phone for free at any time on contract and after 12 months on PAYG for £15.
Also Giffgaff is run on the O2 network the same as Tesco so you should be ok without an unlock.

Verizon Shipping CLNR DInc2 with Later Software than OTA

Just got a replacement DInc2 for a charging port loose warranty replacement (again).
The phone has software verison 6.01.605.05 710RD
and baseband version 20.32W.30.0813U_1.09.01.0312.
zergRush fails on this latest software version...
FOR ANYONE THAT GETS THIS PHONE WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED SOFTWARE BUILD:
When attempting the downgrade method in order to S-OFF, a lot of people (myself included) have run into boot loop issues. On initial boot up, everything works normal, but as soon as you power cycle the phone, your phone will go into an endless reboot cycle where the phone boots up all the way to the lock screen, but then after being on the lock screen for ~2-3 seconds, the phone will reboot and will continue to do so. The only way I was able to break the reboot cycle was to do a factory reset in recovery, but again, the phone will stay on during that initial boot up, but will resume the reboot cycle after any sort of power cycling.
In all my efforts of returning to stock after any sort of tinkering (including flashing the full 5.xx RUU and restoring the stock hboot 0.98), I was UNABLE to get my phone functioning normally. Even full stock, I had the reboot issue mentioned above. I had to get another replacement from Verizon and haven't attempted the downgrade yet.
Work arounds to date:
1. Don't reboot EVER after you initially boot up after a data wipe!
2. If you need to reboot, it seems like enabling airplane mode prior to power cycling prevents the reboot cycle. Even if WiFi is on with a power cycle, there isn't any issues, it's only when the cell radio is on during power cycle that triggers this.
3. Run an AOSP ROM like CM7/CM9/AOKP. This issue seems to be isolated to only Sense ROMS (this could be do to all the Sense ROMS available today being based on the 5.xx RUU and when flashing the downgrade RUU, something isn't getting downgraded properly..?)
If anyone else has any other work arounds, let me know and I'll add it to this list.
I'll say it again, the only way I was able to break the reboot cycle was to do a factory reset in recovery.

Interesting. I've actually had the RUU for this build for a while, but since it only adds emergency alerts as far as I could tell, I didn't release it. Not sure it's worth doing now, since it's such a minor revision.

Unfortunately it was enough of a revision that zergRush is failing to gain temp root access!

Does anyone have an RUU of this?

If you could release it asap, that would rock. In attempting to root, I've fried my radio and need to reflash the latest rev. The current releases that are out won't flash.

Taco root should still work for the unlock part. Otherwise, htcdev unlock flash something that is rooted, relock and revolutionary.io as usual.

Cool I'll try TacoRoot to see if I can get temp root on this build to do the downgrade. For anyone looking for the link: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13713-tacoroot-htc-universal-root-exploit-12-30-2011/

I'm (shockingly, ha) having an issue with tacoroot putting me in endless boot cycling when I get to the root step. See my post in this thread on rootzwiki.
I can't seem to find clear how-tos on htcdev/flashing. When I've tried to flash a stock upgrade (see this thread), I get a failure because the RUUs posted are older than this new one. I suspect this will be true of something rooted, no? If not, if I'm wrong there, can I just make an image of my current happily rooted dinc2 (I haven't sent it back yet) on 2.3.3 and flash that? (and if so, links to how-tos for that would be great. Good lord, I'm demanding!)

You can make a nandroid backup in recovery on your old phone and restore it on your new phone. The only catch is if you use HTC Boot loader unlock and load a custom recovery that way, the restore will not restore the kernel. You will have to find the boot.img for the ROM you are running and use fast boot to install it (flashboot flash boot boot.img)

For some step by step advice: see my post here
Just so everyone is aware, if you do get a replacement DInc2 from Verizon, it will come with newer than OTA software, and when attempting the downgrade process using TacoRoot, you run into bootloop issues that I think are not correctable without the RUU of the shipped software.
Myself and one other person both ran into the same bootloop issue after the downgrade, which persisted even when restoring everything to stock using the 5.10.605.9 RUU. See more about this issue here I have heard of at least one person having no issues after the downgrade though, so I don't know how many had issues and how many had no issues...
I ended up getting another replacement from Verizon, and until an RUU exists, probably won't attempt to root, just FYI for anyone considering getting a replacement from Verizon.
This is horrible news. I just got an Incredible 2 yesterday (gf's had charger problem, I bought her a Rezound and took her warranty swap to replace my Droid X).
I'm sure persistence will pay off though.
Bad news indeed. I just got a replacement as well with the same softare version. Sounds like the XTC clip is the only way to root it at this stage. Ugh.

Yeah I wonder what the difference is...its driving me crazy. PalmerCurling had zero issues with the downgrade. Even more alarming though, at least in my and random's case, that even going back to full stock 5.xx RUU, the reboot issue is still there, so right now for us there is no clear path back to bone full functioning stock...

Comprehensive List of Root Consequences/Side Effects

Can some experts throw out a comprehensive list of the consequences/side effects to rooting in general, but especially the S III? I've seen a post or two about precautions to take with Google Wallet and such. Include everything please (comprehensive) from not being able to download OTAs (or it not being preferable to do so due to potentially losing root), the need to wait for/find someone to take the OTA and make it rooted and available for us to install, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: If this should be in General, I apologize - mod please move.

Do your research.......
the main side effect is getting a hard brick by flashing something you shouldnt have flashed (rom for another phone) other than that, you can recover from anything and flash back to out the box stock if need be.

The biggest drawback is it gives folks the ULTIMATE ability to do anything they want to their phone. Why is this a drawback????
Sadly, way too many folks just "do" things on blind trust of random folks they don't know on the internet without knowing what they are doing and the consequences of their actions.

This is true... but those of us that are not programmers and not as farmiliar with modding these roms are at the mercy of the devs. I am not a noob but am trying to adjust to the s3, came from the OG EVO. Basically what I do is do some google research, search threads on here. eventually you find devs who you prefer and trust their work w/o question.

Well sir, he could could flash the stock recovery > take the OTA > he'll lose roo, then can simply re-apply the rooting procedure in 1 minute and have root back. The only thing is it'll be 100% stock rom, with root access.
We both know its just better to wait, but to each his / her own.

How would you flash the stock recovery, and why is this needed? Wouldn't you still get the OTA prompt after rooting and just be able to accept the install - why need stock recovery?

In the dev section, there is a thread in the there that has the stock recovery you can flash via odin. You need stock recovery because the OTA flashes through stock recovery; which is why on anything but stock, the OTA fails to flash.
And you wouldn't get the ota at that point cuz you'd have it. There are other ways to disable it though.

Will the root methods out there work if you're already on the Sprint Jelly Bean OTA (LJ7)?
Before rooting, any precautions to take other than resetting Google Wallet?
First off, resetting Google wallet isn't necessary. That's old news
And second this question should go into the noob question thread because if you don't already know the answer to this than you don't need to do it. You'll be just another rooted noob that ends up fukn brickin. Dont do it until you can answer this question yourself
Nobody is gonna hold your hand especially not when youre back here in a week askin how to repair your doorstop of a phone

Lol... The issue is that all the information is fragmented all over the place. I understand the general process but am asking the noob questions so that all bases are covered. I was on the OG Evo, rooted and updating ROMs all the time. Don't assume man - just trying to get "comprehensive" details before messing up something - you shouldn't be able to blame me for that. So many different OTAs, versions of Galaxy S III (international and different carriers), Google Wallet comes into play, etc...
So back to my main question: Will the root methods out there work if you're already on the Sprint Jelly Bean OTA (LJ7)?
And is there consensus that no precautions need to be taken with Google Wallet or anything else?

Root methods don't change. This is a Samsung not an HTC. They don't upgrade hboot or lock the bootloader with an ota none of that stupid crap.
Jb or ICS makes no difference. And Google wallet stores that personal crap that had the potential to make wallet brick up outside of the phone now so reset isn't needed. Although I think that was all hype originally anyway. As someone who has owned the phone since 6-21 I have flashed anything and everything and never reset wallet a single time
Seen a lot of comments, so I thought I would throw my 2 cents into the ring
Concerns:
1) flash counter - The SGS 3 has a counter that show how many times you have used ODIN to flash something. The program "Flash Away" resolves this, but to get it 100% back to the stock setting, you also need to flash a 100% official stock ROM. If you never plan on using the warranty, this is a non concern, but it might cause you issues if you bring it in for service.
2) loss of data - some flashes will wipe the internal SD card (yet to see anything wipe the external), so before doing anything major, it is probably a good idea to backup the internal SD to an external source
3) USB cable quality - one of the number one items I have seen that causes issues, is a bad and/or faulty USB cable. Make sure you got a quality cable if you are going to flash with ODIN
4) check the md5 checksum of the file you are going to flash. A bad download will also cause you issues, from minor to serve, so it is a good idea to do a double check before you use the file, just to make sure it is not corrupter

And the counter isn't even that big a threat to ne one anyway. Hell u can even reset it using my stock rom. Definatly second checkin the USB cable tho

Fastboot mode for the eternity

here i'll try to explain what's happening to me.
Bought a chinese HTC one M8 (M8t) from China Mobile.
It comes without play store and full of chinese bloat.
I went for unlocked bootloader + Root. Then, flashed Gapps.
However i flashed the whole bundle, and it brought so much bloat, like hangouts, messenger, G+ and etc.
I tought "Hey, let's wipe the ROM via recovery and install a cleaner Gapps.
Went to wipe. done.
When it boot up, wite screen with HTC logo.
Nothing happened.
(I think that my mistake was select "format system" under the wipe section, alongside with wipe dalvik, wipe data.) (IF you're wondering i'm using TWRP)
So, as i couldn't find ANYWHERE a stock RUU for my ROM (4.29.1403.6) lollipop 5.0.2 (i'm also S-ON). I tought a custom ROM would be the deal.
I flashed Android revolution HD first and then it got stucked in fastboot mode, i did it again, but same thing.
Later on flashed Skydragon, same thing happened.
I tried to flash only the "boot.img" of each ROM,but, nope, nope, nope.
I could not find a 0P6BIMG.zip that works with my modelid.
All i got now is a paper weight.
Is there any hope?
i have this device for four days now... i worked so hard for it, for months i was desiring it.
Thanks in advance.

If you flash the full gapps bundle, obviously you will get all the Google apps. What is considered "bloat" or not is a matter of personal preference. But the full bundle is the full bundle. There are mini gapps packages available. But again, what you want and what you don't is subjective.
When you wiped the ROM, you wiped the actual OS, not just the gapps. It was a bad move, and what you should have done in the first place is backup your stock ROM before making any changes, like flashing gapps.

I don't know much about the M8t. But just doing a quick look around this forum, it appears that ROMs meant for the "international" M8 won't work on the M8t (different kernels). Your best bet may be to try to find a stock nandroid for the M8t, and restore it.

Anyone with an M8t and TWRP installed (and the necessary time and energy!) can make one and post it for you. Try asking here or possibly another forum that has more activity from Chinese users.
The alternative is to find a ROM specifically intended for the M8t. The following is the only one on this forum, and the thread was closed (so again, maybe try looking elsewhere - but of course use your judgement and discretion): http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-soul-2-0-1-54-1400-10-android-4-4-2-t2805146

I made a Google search.
All I find is Chinese sites asking me to register an account and then when I go for the download it asks me my mobile number (for spam reasons).
If only I could find a direct download... But it's impossible! I can't find the "HTCCN704" ANYWHERE! All list compiling Htc variants doesn't have it.
I think I threw money away

That is a better explanation than "There isn't any."
Keep looking. I did find one site, that at least appears to be downloading directly, no account registration required. Whether its the actual ROM, and the reputation of that website (or the ROM itself, for that matter), I can't say. Won't link here for that reason, and XDA does not seem to find links to this ROM suitable also. But you should be able to find it easy enough. And considering your present situation, its arguably worth a try and "better than nothing".
But again, its up to your personal discretion and judgement, in the end.
just wanted to say that i solve my issue, luckly.
Thanks everyone.

downloaded this ROM [ http://www.romzj.com/rom/33463.htm ]
flashedit via TWRP, and it turned on
that means, only m8T designed ROMs can run on this variant.
Just one question, can i get S-off using a custom rom based in the stock?
that way i could use an official RUU to get it 100% stock.

From what I've seen (unless you've read differently), the M8t isn't supported by sunshine, which is the only working s-off method.
If there is an official RUU for the M8t, you can run it, but need to relock the bootloader first.
But I'm pretty sure there isn't a RUU for the M8t, since that is what brought us to this point in the first place. If you are talking about RUUs for other M8 version, yes you would need s-off (and change MID and CID) to run it. But I'd tread carefully, as since ROMs for other M8 version won't work on the M8t, the RUU probably will not work either; and may even brick the phone.

I can't open the 2nd link at work. For the first link, I don't see any mention of s-off.
If the RUU is signed and for your CID and MID, you should not need s-off to run it.
If its not for your CID/MID, you shouldn't run it, anyway (for reasons given above).

S-off it's not mentioned in the link i gave you, Just the RUU, The second link is where the file is locate, when you're able, maybe you should try to downoload it... would be a great help :fingers-crossed:
This is the file >> HTC One M8t(移动TD-LTE版):0P6BIMG.zip the file that my system were looking for every time i enter in HBOOT.
I used a free download manager to download things from chinese servers, this way, the download doesn't break when connection is lost. Works pretty much like a torrent.

I won't have time to do that anytime soon, as I'm gone camping for the weekend.

I've modified my last post, and you can likewise remove that part of my post you quoted. I think we can then happily forget that event ever happened.
