Have you donated yet?
When you do a nice yellow star will appear behind your name
Donators get 'Gold' stars not yellow next to name! At least that's what mikechannon said
Youre right galaxys
But after a bottle of wine..........
bcparker over at sdx-developers has created a simply amazing samsung moment theme called minimal elegance. Anyone interested in porting it? I tried using some of the autoporting scripts with no luck so far.
I'd post a link but I don't have permission yet... haven't been a member of the forum long enough.
+1
That's one sexy theme. Can't post links either sorry.

Thanks to everyone expressing interest. If any of you could post the link to the sdx board (like I said can't yet) that might help drum up some interest.
Much thanks!

looks really nice!
with all the recent b/s going on with my theme i choose not to dev, port anything for android anymore.

Thanks for the link!

I'm very sorry you had a poor experience. My quick search didn't find the issues you referred to, but I have seen instances of members acting ungrateful in the ROM/customization community, and it upsets me every time. The developers are creating all this and giving it to the users for free. There's no reason for complaints. If I don't like something, I simply don't use it. I still appreciate someone took the time to give me another option. If that wasn't your experience I apologize on behalf of everyone involved. Much thanks for what you did contribute before you were convinced otherwise.

Thanks from me as well. Just joined the forum and it is AMAZING how many information one can find here. The noob video is epic, too!
I also want to thank every dev here. The work you do is great!
Couldn't have done it without our brilliant devs and terrific mods!

Thanks to all.
Thanks to the great Mods and Admins of XDA.
No thanks to the HORRIBLE Mods who Ruined the Desire HD android Development section.
Also no thanks to XDA members who are trying to sweep the issue under the Rugs.
Yes, Thank You to all the developers, admins, moderators, and everyone who legitly contributes to the xda forums! You guys have all made things easier to understand for everyone. THANK YOU!!!
Yes! Thanks to everybody who moderates these forums and develops. Without you guys this community would be nothing!
I wanna say thanks to the XDAdevelopers Dev's. You guys and gals have taught me a great deal of stuff. I spend alot of time reading different forums and this one is the Main vein to all of the other ones. I spend at least 5 hours a night reading up on the Shooter 3D. But as time goes by i will start to read other phones as well. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Yes - thanks to you all!!
Simply put, I appreciate all that you do, and all that you represent. It is a very large and growing medium, and the ability to learn here is so vastly diverse and ever increasingly expanding that one could take a lifetime to absorb even a fraction of what you have to offer, bravo XDA bravo!

I am agree too. Thanks!
More and more custom mods on this site are moving to another forum, and posts in forum sections seems to point away from xda forum when you click download?
Is it really getting so bad for xda forum, that developers starts to link outside this forum?
Seems the rules around this forum are getting to strict.
Anyone else noticed?
Only ones ive ever seen linking to a different forum are villain roms,

Problem is...No other community would have such a large fan base, XDA has well over 400K users I'm assuming, finding another development site like this would be hard. XDA has been around for some time, and many are using this place to share their work and work with others. If Devs leave perm, they won't have as much of an impact IMHO.
It is better as a developer for your portfolio to link your work from your own site. just because a developer links to his own site does not mean they are leaving this wonderful site. XDA in my opinion is far better than Microsofts apphub forums any day plus most are nice here compared to other sites.

Most are nice... But its been getting worse. Back when winmo ruled xda, I never saw near the amount of flaming or just terrible conduct in general. Thus this new "iron fist" method by the mods.

No, but some developers are dropping devices... Such as the G2x.

Ok, I just noticed a desire rom and i remember several roms from acer and asus being on other sites as well.
maybe just team specific, but it seems a little strange that i find it here, and then in some cases i need to register to download from another site. could also just be a way to pull some members to their site.
The only devs that leave are the ones that aren't getting their own way, and leave in the huff because they think they are entitled to more. No one forces them to leave.
There are still a huge number of devs still producing great work on xda
The developers have two options:
Either post their developments in this forum
Or host their developments on their personal dedicated website.
Most of the developers follow both the routes. I doubt if there's any other option, that can get them an instant large user-base.
a very good example is CyanogenMod
he has his own website/forum, yet his ROMs are everywhere
so it's not strange to see ROMs here linked out to their own download places
as there are Thousand if not Million of fans for any given ROM
some DEV can afford their own website, some other cannot, and they will just host it where they feel more comfortable with as simple as that
I'm guessing having your own website helps with getting ad revenue and such? But in order to get traffic, you really have to be on XDA.
A lot of devs are leaving due to issues with users, other devs, and the mods. The mods don't always make the best decisions and don't care to explain their actions. The users always ask for things that annoy the devs. The devs argue about who kang'd what, stole code here, etc. It's pretty childish conduct for a forum made by adults.

It's more or less model/dev/team specific.
XDA is more or less an American site and so phones used widely in US have active development in XDA.
I have an LG GT540 Optimus. Most of the ROMs/Guides/Apps for this phone on XDA come from and are linked to Russian forums. This is due to the reason that active developers for this phone come from Russia and don't care about English much.
Plus, most downloads are linked to file distributions networks since XDA has an upper 8MB file size limits.

No duh. Most of the developers for my phone, LG GT540 Optimus.
Devs for other models might be from other countries. Most of the XDA devs who use XDA as primary forum would be from US.

Xda is NOT an American site. Do your research first. It's home is in Europe.....Just because the rules require users to post on English doesn't mean this is an American site.. ..

I didn't say XDA is American in origin. But, most of the devices in here are the devices sold around America. That's why I said more or less American. =)
I know this forum is not necessarily the place to post this but someone from XDA will see it this way. Seriously there are far too many ads in the forum pages. It's causing a huge lag at times because of all the stupid banners that are loading. Ya'll should really think about getting rid of some.
Sv: Too many ads
Less ads = less money
Less money= pay
Cheers

Buy Tapatalk or XDA premium and quit crying about a free site needing to generate some revenue. What do you think all the bandwidth for the 4+million users is free? All the webmasters and admins work for free? Someone donated the hosting? Here's an idea go run your own free site with no ads and see how long you keep it running with all the costs coming out of your pocket
I like to break stuff!
I also think its too many ads.. But I also agree with the guy above me.. Its not free to run this site.. Plus I use my phone for xda.. I might use the actual website once every few months

Sometimes I feel like a terrible person for using adblock on sites such as xda and reddit. Then I open up internet explorer to make myself feel better.
Op why don't you use adblock?

I dont think its bad, in fact, i havent seen but 1-3 ads total

If you're going to whine about ads, then use Adblock Plus or something. It is someone's income. I am perfectly OK with XDA having ads considering the wealth of information that is consolidated onto a single site.
Ya use ad block
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy s3
how is it even possible for someone with over 2k posts to still not know about adblocking extensions for chrome and firefox? you're obviously not new to the internet and have spent quite some time on this forum alone. use your God-given brain.
Use adblock with standart settings. It will allow few adds on site. Admins will have money (for site hosting), you`ll see less adds.
this site used to be ad free.. then i guess someone got a bit greedy and decided to infest the site with ads. yes i know running a site cost money but there are many ways to bring income without having 5+ ads on a single page, as a result i use ad blocker when i visit here.. i know from experience as i run my own site since 2001.
they could at least maybe do a premium membership where members and developers (some who even use this site to "advertise" their apps) can donated a few dollar and have no ads. maybe a recurring membership every 3-6 months with added features.

Complaining about free tech support. Way to exercise that free speech. Typical liberal thinking, apply the rules to yourself the way you see it benefits you.
I found those long signatures more annoying than ads here. I'm used to the layout of the page, and my eyes just ignore those places for ads. But, as I am browsing the posts, those long signatures take a lot of scrolling.
I do use the app, which does not show the sigs, and jumps to the last unread (like it very much). But I'm on my computer all day.

Uh, this is a privately owned forum. Free speech doesn't apply here, they can tell make you shut up about anything they want. Theres no constitutional protections in privately held venues, on the internet or in real life. The first amendment only guarantees that the government can't stifle your speech.
