I have a VZW G4 for sale on swappa. Someone asked me to post the manufacture date . Anyone know why someone would care ? Is there a difference between LG G4 manufacture dates ?
Thanks.
I think a lot of the earlier G4's have a defect that can result in a permanent boot loop
Warranty warranty warranty.
Are you giving original receipt with the sale? If not, LG will provide warranty service without receipt but use mfg date as the beginning point of the year warranty.
hi guyz i had a lg g4 bootloop which i bought in dubai from an online store the box said CZE means it was made in czech republic so i email them asking if its still under warranty they said it is i just need to send them the phone via courier
so here how u can transfer it cheap look for friend or family member working with EMIRATES airline they have a discount of 80% with FEDEX for sending things
i sent my phone for 40dhs dats 12dollars roughly and got it returned for 61dhs dats around 17dollars not much expensive though the time they took was 4 weeks and 3 days but atleast i have a wroking phone received in same condition just the motherboard replaced
hope this helps you
Bought a second had H815 w/ country code CZ & already unlocked bootloader about 3 months ago off an ebay seller. Have really fallen in love with the phone but it started the bootlooping last week. With the disappearance of any real subsidies, I like to stay MVNO (Cricket) & mid price-point on my phones after several years of premium pricing w/ Apple / AT&T.
Post-bootlooping I initially bought a hot air station & was gonna try the repair but decided against and selling for parts / repair instead. I've been reviewing phone options and just like when I opted for the G4 initially, it still appears there's no competitor overall (for the money) given requirements of awesome camera and removable SD.
In seeking the best shot at carrying me for a couple of years, my question is, if I'm moving forward with another G4, should I opt for another euro H815 from Handtec or find a late serial AT&T. I'm holding out for G5 release to see what that does to AT&T G4 prices which right now are at $462 with the H815 at Handtec around $400+ whatever shipping.. I'd like to see $300 at AT&T but then again Handtec option has 2 year warranty. With the Handtec option, is one pretty well assured of getting a very late serial (and, btw, what ARE the latest batch numbers).
Thoughts? I _REALLY_ love this phone and there doesn't seem to be another great option. Or maybe G5 but unknown performer..
Has anyone USED the EU warranty through Handtec ? Will unlocking the bootloader void it if dealing with Handtec? Flashing is less and less important to me these days..
Thanks!
Hello fellows. Im here to ask i anyone of you people has some knowing about lg g4's with 404k serial number? If you check the imei (imeipro i think) it shows you the correct 505 S/N.
My only assumptions is that is a bootloop refurbished (in factory) phone, because its 100% legit. I've never heard or read anything about this 404 thing.
Anyone?
Thanks. Some pics for the hatters...
Ps: i got it from Amazon.com as "New Lg G4 GSM unlocked".
Lol. I think I have his answer in case he is still wondering
I'm guessing this phone isn't "new". If app shows you different number than on a sticker, there is definitely something wrong. Maybe 404k body with 505 motherboard that's why app shows that.
my h811 doesnt have same sticker.as picture
This is default number for every phone that has been factory refurbished by lg
It can be any lg phone. Not just lg g4
They will all have the same exact serial number that you have
What you purchased is a brand new in box sealed factory refurbished lg g4
Buddy kind of ripped you...but not quite
Its a legit LG G4 phone
What does refurbished means for you? If LG repaired this phone they should do something to match all serial numbers and imeis. If your codes mismatch it doesn't sound legit. Best way would be just contacting the LG and just asking them if it's legit or not.

It means
a ) someone bought the phone it bootlooped. It was returned to their carrier......carrier sent it to lg
Customer got a new phone
Lg repaired the motherboard Applied the 404 default serial number. Resold it to wholesaler
Motherboard is still the same board repaired with a return serial number applied to every phone that has been refurbished and intended for resale
Its legit.....its the same motherboard just a refurb number
It can be any motherboard....608 701 etc
One it is repaired....it is given the same serial number because it has been altered.....it no longer the real manufacture date
Its been remanufactured. All remafactured/refurbished get the same number.
If he was to pull out his board...it would have original number on it before it was serviced
What do you mean by LG resold the phone? Have you seen LG selling refubrished devices? Where? Also, i know that after replacing motherboard serial number will change, but they should change the sticker too. It's still S/N mismatch. If i bought phone with IMEI/Serial number other than on the box i would give it back immediately. Contact LG and show us reply, i would really want to see it.
You know what could happen? Someone could have 2 broken G4s and make it one "good". That's why it doesn't seem legit to me. If LG would say that your phone is legit, it's ok then.

Basicly this
Phone broke > return to carrier > customer receives new phone > original phone repaired > new housing or parts to make it look new > default return number applied > phone resold
Imei still same serial number. Still same motherboard
Sticker only has really changed
Can't service it without sticker
Lg now knows this phone has serviced before....this is way lg makes money. If it happens again to take loss for issuing new phone because of carrier

You just seen where it was resold, to a wholesaler online.
Its not a serial number mismatch
The motherboard did NOT change. It was repaired
The default refurbished number is just sticker issued by LG so in the future LG is going to make money off repair and reselling the repaired customer phone in order to offset the cost of giving the carrier a new phone for customer
Again the motherboard is the same...only sticker has changed
You could 1 phone out of 2 but the serial numbers would no longer match between the screen and motherboard.
LG knows everything.
Maybe it's true, but how can u know? If you bought it directly from LG(and u can't cause they don't sell phones themselves) i wouldn't complain. But buying phone off amazon with different serial numbers isn't making it legit to me.

I can't understand your english, but if his stickers says 404k serial number, and the app shows 505, IT IS MISMATCH. Do you get it?

It is not a mismatch....
The motherboard/apps says 505
The sticker says 404
The motherboard was REPAIRED not changed. Its JUST a sticker
If it were REPAIRED it is no LONGER MANUFACTURED ON 505 is it?
THEREFORE default number on sticker
Soory mate, i can't understand your wording.

I am writing in English.....
It is not a mismatch....it is the same phone repaired....only thing has changed is the sticker.
App will say original serial number
The number he has on his phone is for ALL phone that has been repaired.....not parts changed
It is REFURBUSHED
I don't think I can make it any clearer than that
The sticker is FOR LG to know it was repaired
They do this to make money it needs repair again
Without original sticker....they won't repair it. Only they issue the sticker. You can change parts from 2 phone into 1 but they will know
That's why it is 1 number......always the same one
You can't just make your own number or have 1 sticker and different parts and expect them to repair it
Basicly he has no WARRANTY
That's all

All these phones have NO warranty
REFURBISHED
Its more common than you think
Every company that manufacturers phones does this
LG put the sticker on...not Amazon
There is no person selling online Amazon making his own stamps and stickers
LG FIXED the phone made it look nice and put a sticker. That's why they use the same number.
They have a database.
That's all there to it
You can put 2 phones into 1 and make yourself a new phone.....what's the difference? You are paying LG anyway. Its going to cost you for the second phone to have 2 to make 1
At least if you have this phone number you know it was repaired by LG not blow joe
LG Refurbishes the phone and doesn't give warranty? So what's the point in buying phone that can't die any second? Is it even legal to sell things without any warranty? And how u know it was repaired by LG if i can put 505 board into some dead 404 G4 and it will be the same?

It is sold as REFURBISHED.....there is no lie about this. Warranty usually 60 days... If there is one
Why would you want to put a 505 board into a 404?
A 404 doesn't really exist. A 404 is a 505 608 701 or any number you can think of that has failed and has been repaired, casing changed by LG and stickered. It is now REFURBUSHED
The phone you have if it breaks, you return it to store... LG repairs it. It is now a 404 .....JUST THE STICKER changed to next person that buys it
There is no 404 model. A 404 is a sticker given to a repaired phone
The inside was not swapped out. It was repaired
The only guarantee you have is the phone works when it left factory, you have to pay for additional warranty, or you return it to Amazon after you receive jt
The only person that lied here is the Amazon seller. Claiming that it was brand new
If you buy one of these phones your not paying full price what it is going for at the time
You get what you pay for.
Go to any electronics store and ask them if they have a REFURBUSHED TV cell phone DVD player ..... And ask them what price is of refurbished compared to brand new and what is warranty on it
You are saving money by having no warranty
That's what happens when you buy off Ebay or Amazon.....you are looking for a deal
Otherwise you'd go to mobile store and pay full price

If I offer to sell you a Refurbished LG G8 with 60 days warranty for 1000 dollars instead of 1300 with 1 year are you going to buy it?
If you buy that LG G8 for 1300 at it needs repair in 1 year I send you a new one....LG is repairing your phone, changing casing putting a sticker it that says 404 serial number and sells it to wholesaler it is now also 1000 dollars
Still has the same serial number
Sticker says 404
Ahhh! Now i get what u mean! I guess u are right, but I would still contact LG to confirm that this phone is legit or smth. If it was bought as brand new it isn't true as u said.

Well like said it when it is Refurbished it is repaired, casing was and sticker was changed to 404
When they change the casing....that mean cosmetically now it will be perfect. They throw in new charger...new box...
Really looks like a brand new LG phone. Thats why some people choose this instead of buying from someone.
I doubt LG will offer anything. They know you have purchased at lower cost
You could always try....but remember you chose to pay less. They will likely not honor you anything
Tip: don't buy electronics online off eBay and amazon... Or ship it back in time before your return policy is up
So, i had the bootloop issue happening to me on my S/N 506 MB. From what I've gathered, 506 means that its manufactured june 2015. Now my new MB has S/N 703. March 2017?!
Also, the phone was shipped from retailer, repaired and shipped back to me in 4 days. In Norway, this means that the repair shop must have had the MB in storage (every other repair usually takes 2-3 weeks, even the retailer was really surprised). Looks like LG actually re-manufactured MBs and distributed them to the repair shops.
The same happende to Me and my wifes G4 (2 months later) , both with sn 506 last summer, also in Norway got it repaird and shipped back in 5 days, exellent service :good: and Yes they are very aware of what the issue is with the MB on the G4 but I got a sn 609 MB replacement that has worked great!

Nah, they changed the entire motherboard. Changing the chipsets is more work and would cost more money.

I am not sure how a brand new motherboard costs less than reballing a single chip.

quick change mass production motherboard cost less than paying for the extra labour (which is really expensive in Norway). Maybe that's why they change mobos in Norway without any hassle, but users in other countries have to fight to even get to send it back
Question: was the repair free, and did you still have warranty? my g4 just bootlooped and my warranty is gone, and for some reason lg wont tell me if im still covered for a free replacement until i send the phone to them, which in itself costs quite a bit, so i dont know what to do

I got it repaired free under warranty, the phone was under 1 year old. However, in Norway we have 2-5 years warranty for electronics (but that wont last if the EU regulations apply soon).
Also, a quick google revealed LGs official stance on the topic:
LG Electronics has been made aware of a booting issue with the LG G4 smartphone that has now been identified as resulting from a loose contact between components. Customers who are experiencing booting issues with their LG G4s should contact their local carrier from where the G4 was purchased or a nearby LG Service Center (www.lg.com/common) for repair under full warranty.
Customers who purchased their G4 devices from non-carrier retailers should contact an LG Service Center with the understanding that warranty conditions will differ. LG Electronics is committed to providing the highest standards of product quality and customer service and apologizes for the inconvenience caused to some of our customers who initially received incorrect diagnoses.
