Hello, I was wondering if there were any break throughs in rooting the sm-n910v I know there is a ton on stuff online about it, but it all seems to be from 2015. I can't seem to find any information recent about it. I am wondering if there is any kind of root option. I think i seen something that says you can downgrade to 4.4.4, I think it was. If this is the case is it permanent and if so can someone put me in the direction of a good walk-through. I am also sorry if there is something recent that i looked over. Thank you in advance for any help offered in this matter. One more thing I do not own the developer edition obviously.
Read the threads, all the info is there. You can even cheat and skip to the end and read the most recent posts. Nothing yet.

Just wondering cause I seen my friend with his CM7 root and loved it. I've been researching for a couple of days now including reading the wiki but want a clear cut choice from someone who has rooted and I want to make sure I use the newest safest method.
I followed the Wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD on this site about a week ago and it worked for me. Wasn't too hard but you should follow the instructions to the letter. Read and re-read and then make sure you have the ability to do all the steps before you actually start. There is nothing scarier than watching your phone get stuck in a boot and thinking you have bricked it!
Having said that, I'm running CM 7 RC2 now and it's made my phone so much better.
And if you don't have ADB, this was helpful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
I see nothing you developed in this thread dude...do you not know what Q&A means????? Just in case its questions and answers. Sorry for being harsh but this **** is so easy to avoid you kind of deserve it

Was also looking for an all in one guide but no luck. They have it on Desire HD it was so simple and easy to follow. the wiki was fine though. If you found one hope you could share it. I'm not even sure if I missed something.
How did he post here with only 8 posts??
Thanks Tangiers for the info but to Spastic 909 thank you for being useless dude I asked for advice in the wrong spot sorry. I wonder if I had posted in the right spot if you would have even posted anything I'm guessing not. +1 for the Troll then I guess.
You are welcome. Good luck and don't be put off by it looking complicated. I am no expert but managed to do it without any problems.
And once you have root, a whole new world of fun opens!

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm searching all over the dev forum for the incredible 2, there are no official links that explain how to root the phone. Please help, thank you.
I would think that if have been searching you would have read that there is no way to do a software root. You probably would have also read that you can buy an XTC clip to achieve S=Off.
Is this just temporary or will there be a way to software s-off? I'm sorry I have been searching and reading I just don't understand I'm a noob the original incredible was easy to do cause I used unrevoked
Again, if you had been reading, you might have come across a thread that discusses the software method of S=Off.
link me please?
to answer your question... no there is no software unlock yet. It is coming, it has been verified to work and has been done to a few testers.
there is no ETA.
if you need it now, buy an xtc clip and you can unlock it immediately.
lastly, this should be in general, not development.
thanks brah
Sit tight bro. Root will be here soon enough. Add the the thread to your favorites this way you can stay up to date on any news. As for being a noob don't let some of these cats intimidate you with there snooty replies. I'm sure they were never noobs.

Some people are anal about posting in the wrong section or posting something that's already answered because it clutters up the forum and our mod already has a tough job. That's why I get anal about it

There is life beyond the message board, you might want to have a look.
I understand that this is a matter of semantics, but the I2 was rooted long ago...with software. What we're lacking is an unlock to allow root to be permanent (persistent through reboots). You can root now and gain many of the benefits (and problems) of root if you really want to without paying a dime.
Now if you want to use custom firmwares, that requires unlocking. This can be done with a piece of hardware that is available now, or a piece of software that everyone is still waiting on.
Anyone selling an XTC
Im willing to buy anyones used XTC clip for half price....anyone...anyone...

I have done some searching and have found two possible routes. One is AlpharevX (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132920&page=40) and the other is with the Rebel XTC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156534&page=5).
The sites are http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/, and http://www.xtcclip.com/.
AlphaRev is still beta though they claim no bricks reported so far. Since it is Beta you are supposed to interactively get a Beta key from their site to activate the software. This key is generated only if it 'likes' the serial number. The latter by the looks of it is a hardware tool which loads on your sd-card. If you go the alpha route then you must manually download and install the viow version of CWM! Still waiting for Unrevoked!

Stable software root does not exist for the inc2.

Can we stop this nonsense argument please.
On a different note, bummer they didn't include the Inc 2 in their public beta. Ah well..
Hi, I'm very new and looking for information on rooting my phone. If I'm pointed to the correct thread with instructions I'm sure I won't have a problem with rooting. I just can't seem to find my specific phone for rooting, or if it matters.
Also I'm trying to make my phone faster by removing the bloat on it by rooting, is installing Cyanogenmod the answer for me? Is there a FAQ for that also? The latest stable version of course.
Sorry for the questions if there is something I'm missing then I don't mind being redirected.
I also didn't know if my GS3 being 4G and not LTE capable effected anything.
Just about everything you need is in the sticky threads, or fairly easily found using xda's forum search.
Just about anyone will tell you the same thing, if you are new to this stuff, take your time, read, search, read, and read some more. There's lots of useful info here, and the more you absorb, the less likely you are to brick your device.

I am currently using the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and I love the phone. I also for a time now have been learning a lot about what can be done with cell phones from XDA for a time. I have to say that I find the information you all post to be invaluable in terms of troubleshooting problems with cell phones and presenting solid arguments when dealing with AT&T. So believe me when I say that I find what all of you do here to be special and helpful. Anyway, I weigh the pros and cons of rooting a device all of the time. From to time, someone presents a solution which does not require rooting and so I hold off, so as not to cancel my warranty with AT&T because of rooting. That being said, there have been multiple methods presented on XDA as to how to get the Sense Live Wallpaper but for many of these options rooting was necessary and multiple suggestions for launchers were given to utilize the wallpaper. I have been waiting for a long while for someone to post a "No Root" version and figured someone within XDA would be the ones to do it. Have you all posted a no root signed version of this APK for usage on any android device? I would be very grateful to be pointed in the right direction to obtaining a copy of it. I have seen the "Sensus" version in the Market but this clearly is not the same. Rooting the device does not always make the ported for root versions work, so I would be very interested in any help you all can provide. Thank you.

I'm looking to buy a note 4 now that custom roms and perm root has been achieved. I already know to make sure the android version is no more then 5.1.1, but one thing was throwing me off in reading up on this.
Some guides mention to "make sure the CID starts with 15". Others don't. I may be entirely wrong here, because I don't know what CID stands for, or what it is, but I'm getting the impression that CID 15 is a software number for the developers model of the phone. I've also read it's possible to convert the note 4 into thinking it is a developers model of the phone. So that would mean I don't need to worry about buying a model that's already CID 15, because it will be taken care of later. Is this correct?
My questions are....
How do I prevent my phone from starting up, and immediately downloading 6.0 or 6.1 or whatever the latest update is, before I root? How do I block those updates without root?
Whats the best newb friendly guide on this forum for going from day 1 bought, to custom roms and perm root? Basically an "everything at once" guide. Assuming I don't even have the phone yet, don't have temp root, haven't changed the CID yet, ect ect ect. I want to start reading these guides so I can get myself familiar with the process.
I read either here or on reddit that kingroot puts spyware on the phone. Is this true?
Anyone know a good place to buy the note 4? I'd be looking for the verizon version.
Anything I should know that I don't even know to ask about? My last (current) phone is on it's dieing legs. It's an HTC thunderbolt from 2011. I was running android 2.2. Yes, I know. It's old. I haven't experienced a post 2.2 android OS, so this is going to be basically 5 years worth of "HOLY **** LOOK WHAT THEY ADDED!!!" moment for me.
What are the differences between different model numbers. I keep seeing (SM-N910V) in the videos I've been watching, but I have no context as to if that's good, or bad, or what it means.
Will this fast charging thing work with ROMS?
I'm not an expert, but I've successfully rooted and installed cm13. here's a few things I've learned.
doesn't matter if you get a phone that's already on marshmallow, you can downgrade back to 5.1.1 (hybrid firmware, probably, if you're gonna install cyanogenmod). I haven't seen anyone having a phone that's unrootable because of the CID. I think kingroot may leave some sort of Spyware, but it's easily removed.... and anyway, kingroot didn't work for me, I had to use kingoroot... which more people seem to have success with. in terms of the easiest tutorial, that's hard to say, they're all different and unnecessarily overcomplicated. if you search my recent posts, I have told a couple people a much more simplified way to obtain root and install cm13...another user helped me out when I was having trouble with one of the super long tutorials, and helped show me that it doesn't need to be nearly so complicated. let me know if you have trouble finding that info. the process is definitely a pain in the ass, but it is well worth it. good luck.
