Call recording (Lumia 640/640xl) - Windows 10 Mobile

Hi!
Is there any way/hack to enable call recording on Lumia 640 (or any other lumia that isn't 950/950xl)? Still no words if Microsoon will implement it in W10M for other devices.

I think it will not come for existing devices ( non w10 flagship devices)

That's really bad if it stays only for flagships. My job depends on calls recording, I guess I'll switch back to Android...

Who cares about your job ?

550 is hardly a flagship and has it (you must manually select Windows Sound Recorder as associated app in system/phone settings!)
Tried writing 0 to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Phone/Settings? You can do that by injecting CustomPFD in the "Preview for developers" app!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lumia-950-xl/general/lumia-950xl-mtp-t3304658
Your phone probably has an easier way!

I need the value of PreferedRecordingApplication , from HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Phone/Settings. Someone with a flagship ?

Microsoft.WindowsSoundRecorder_8wekyb3d8bbwe

no option in system/phone setting?
Have you all keys from HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Phone/Settings?

I need to compare with a flagship registry. Who can post those reg?

Thank you for the suggestion, but setting 0 or 1 in RecordingFeatureDisabled makes no difference.

I think something like ShowCallRecordingSwitch is missing... cant create this new dword32.

If only Microsoft would be so logical... I don't think it can be done with a registry trick. Changing TextReplySetting value immediately changes the switch in Settings - System - Phone. Changing recording related values in registry doesn't seem to have any effect. I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe something is needed here too:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CallAndMessagingEnhancement\
I have only BlockingApp and CallOriginApp subkeys there.

If only a Lumia 550/950 user would be so kind to check these keys ...

Well...inside a lumia 550, 950 ffu file mounted we cant find some registry?

Here is another idea: reset the phone, change model name to Lumia 950 and then update Phone & Recorder from Store. Could it work?

No need to reset the phone... will try.

I guess you have tried call recorder apps.

No, will try to mode my phone as 950. Soon.

Call Recording, 2 way

Hello,
Looking on the internet, even on this forum, tells me that there are lots of solutions for this question. But... It seems to be all for the Kaiser. My question:
What is the best 2 way call recording software for the Rhodium, and which work?
Is there any way to record videocalls? Or is this just impossible?
3rd question, nothing to do with the one above:
I've tried to install the Xperia Panel interface on the rhodium. It works fast and responsice, but:
After installing the Media Xperience panel, and I tap on it, it stays on the media picture.
Choosing other panels needs soft reset.
After deleting of the Panel Interface, Manila 3D is *** up. Only Hard Reset works...
Is there any project to make it compatible without damaging TF 3D? So you can use the panels (Media XP for me) when needed, and close it again to use Manila again (or better, use them both).
Thanks for any response
Nobody? Or does the Kaiser software work?

I don't have mine yet, but I seem to recall someone else posting that the built in app notes (I think that's what it's called) would record two way.

that does not work my tp2. the availability of 2way recording is probably rom dependent. (i got a german t-mobile mda vario V)
Solution for you.
To enable 2 way recording just change:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
and you'll be able to record with any software.
If you want to use WM6 native recording (WAW only, on \my documents\notes, manual activation: during a call hit "record" on call menu) create:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
Don't forget to turn off (and on again ) the device after you modify/create the keys.
Tested both on my TP2.

To record all calls download resco audio recorder..Is the best I tried so far.

You emphasize to change the VocRecPath DWord in the WaveDev key.
But I don't have a VocRecPath DWord.
Does that mean I have to create the DWord?

Sorry, crosspost with my editing: I found that already
But thanx for the reply.
Can you answer my editted question, please?
I emphasized it because I wanted to emphasize that some keys/values are to be created others should be already there (rom dependent).
I don't know why you don't have that value..(compare your rom version with the one on my signature and let us know)
Try creating it, soft reset and see what happen
You should be lucky and everything should work.
You should not damage your phone if you create it
However keep us informed
Creating the DWORD works like a charm.... thanks for the tweak!
When it says dword:00000002, does that mean changing the "Value data" to "2"? Also, do I set the base to binary, decimal, or hexidecimal?
Thanks.
How to access the reg keys in Pro 2

[HOW TO] Get any OEM's Apps direct from the Marketplace on your Phone

WARNING! If you change your OEM too many times you will break the DRM and have to reset your phone to download/use apps from the Marketplace. Use at your own risk.
Ok so I was playing around with my registry on my Focus and I found if I changed the following key:
Code:
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\OemName
from SAMSUNG to either HTC or LG, in the Marketplace it changes from Samsung Zone to the other OEM's app repositories.
Also if you put in something like MICROSOFT it removes any OEM repository.
I also attempted to change the MOName from "AT&T Wireless" to "Microsoft" in order to get rid of AT&T's branding in the Marketplace but I couldn't get it to change. I think it might be linked to the SIM card. If anyone has any ideas please let me know as I hate with a passion carrier branding.
Valid OemName Strings (case sensitive):
SAMSUNG
HTC
LG
Works great with my Focus. Ive downloaded the HTC sound enhancer and works great so far. I also downloaded the Piano app on the LG store and it works perfectly as well.
Hi i'm new at this and i wanna know step by step how to change that registry key hope you could help me

Hello guys !
Im working with a HTC Mozart, T-Mobile GER Version 7932 with Chevron Unlock
With Julien Schapmans Registry Editor beta 1.1.0.0 i got the message "Acess to HKLM/System is restricted", and there is no "Platform" Folder inside.
I can find a "Platform" folder ind the HKLM Folder, but the acess is restricted too and there is just a "Default" string inside...
Any suggestions ?^^
Does indeed work fine on my LG Quantum but a lot of the HTC apps(Hub, Notes, Converter) would download but not run. The only ones I was able to run successfully were Attentive Phone and Sound Enhancer. Anyone else have better luck?

The registry editor you are using might not have full permissions to "view" like LG's MFG tool or Heathcliff's Root Tool's for the Samsung phones. But you should be able to "write" to any device using some tricks found here.

This is just me but I would NOT update while any of these values are changed, as the updates might be built for specific devices/OEM's and I would hate to see you brick your phone.

Some apps require OEM specific dll's and they will not run, and some do a check to make sure it is a valid device, this might be able to be fixed via some more registry tweaks.
@samsung users..
take this tool:
http://dotconn.de/main/news/homebrew-wp-root-tools-0-3-alpha/
Here are some XAP's to deploy provxml's to the device for those of you with an HTC device since we don't have access to that registry path. You can use schap's Advanced Config to provision the files once deployed.
Chrism583, do the two HTC apps you downloaded work on the LG? Wondering if they require specific hardware.
Just tried attentive phone and it wouldn't keep any of the checks/settings I set. I guess it doesn't work on the LG.
edit: just tried sound enhancer and same thing.

probably same as on LGs. these apps are hardware specific and either need extra registry settings or system files to work. or the specific calls to the hardware simply don't exist on our phones.
Thats it? ONE REGISTRY KEY??? Amazing!
oh, and Samsung focus (at&t), I downloaded the LG guitar learning app and it totally restarted my device... maybe it's just me. LG piano app works perfectly however not much else does. Oh, and changing your OEM to Dell doesn't give u dell app store (maybe we have someone with a DVP who has registry access and can check what their key says).

Actually DVP owners don't even need registry access. All we need is for them to go to 'Settings' -> 'About' -> 'Model: XXXX XXXX'
The 'Model' is actually two keys, the first set of X's are the 'OemName' key the second set are either the 'MODeviceName' or 'OEMDeviceName' key, I'm not sure which as both on mine read the same 'SGH-i917' however if I had to guess I would bet it's 'OEMDeviceName'
On a side note, does Dell even have an OEM repository?
Edit: I just tried 'NOKIA' for the fun of it... nothing. Wishful thinking

[MOD] reg edit to get higher resolution so metro apps will work

When I first installed windows 8 I was really confused with all the metro app icons, when i clicked on them nothing happened. I started thinking they were fake and were placed there for looks. I searched all over the place and found that if your resolution is not high enough the apps wont load.
so, here is a regedit i found a long time ago to activate 1024x768 and 1152x864. seems like 1024x768 is the lowest resolution that is needed for metro apps to work.
1) Run regedit
reg edit can be found in the windows folder
2) highlight the higest tree level (Computer)
3) Search for “Display1_DownScalingSupported” and changed it from “0″ to “1″
3b)some have reported that there may be more then one entry that needs to be changed so make sure to search the entire registry
4) Restart the system
5) Enjoy the two new resolutions: 1024×768 px and 1152×864
the metro apps will work now.
I'm using a lenovo s10-3t but this should work on many other computers.
I could just change the resolution in the normal Windows 7 way...
Me to but my problem is that I have an eeepc 1000h which supports max 1024x600, what I have to do in this case...
I have a Acer netbook and have the same problem. I did try the apps with an external monitor which worked fine.

You have to hack the registry to enable a higer resolution, I created a reg file for you, download it, double click on reg file, click yes and restart, now check your resolution settings. If this dosen't work try this:In regedit search with ctrl+f for Display1_DownScalingSupported and change the value from 0 to 1 and keep searching until you reach at the end of registry because are 4 or 7 with "Display1_DownScalingSupported" name, restart and check your resolution settings.

yes you can change it that way, but for me and many others the max will be 1024x600 and we won't be able to go anyhigher with out the regedit. So after the regedit those 2 higher resolution options will be available. then we will be able switch to them "in the normal windows 7 way."
I think this problem is prominent on smaller laptops or netbooks that have10in screens or smaller.

[HOWTO] Shell Mod/Tweak

Start Screen Tweak
you all know that we (user with smaler than 5.0" screen) can change 6 small tiles to 8 small tiles that appear in start screen by changing "DeviceTargetingInfo"
but what about user with larger screen ?
okay, here is a way to change tile from 8 small tiles to 10/etc small tiles
1. open CustomPFD and move to Registry Tree (as always, eh. )
2. continue to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Start
3. on the TileColumnSize change the value to 10 or anything you want and WRITE
4. restart
#i'm not recommend user with smaller than 5.0" screen to use this tweak, it will make your tiles to very small (for me )
#maybe some user will facing lag when trying to arrange tiles
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disable BurnIn Feature in NavBar (730,640, etc)
i dont know why Microsoft enable this feature, but for me this feature is just an odd feature (sorry), imagine you apply color to NavBar, but suddenny the NavBar color change itself to greyish
for user that want to disable it, here is the way
1. open CustomPFD and move to Registry Tree
2. continue to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\NavigationBar
3. on the IsBurnInProtectionEnabled change the value to 0 and WRITE
4. restart
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you want 10 small tiles, you must first change your DeviceTargetingInfo -> PhoneManufacturerModelName to "RM-938" then change your TileColumnSize to 10
if you not do this first you cant change your TileColumnSize
DeviceTargetingInfo is only change your Device Info to other Device Info, example if your default DeviceTargetingInfo is "RM-1040" (Lumia 730) and you change it to "RM-938" (Lumia 1520), The OS will recognize your device as Lumia 1520

DeviceTargetingInfo is only change your Device Info to other Device Info, example if your default DeviceTargetingInfo is "RM-1040" (Lumia 730) and you change it to "RM-938" (Lumia 1520), The OS will recognize your device as Lumia 1520

i don't know, have you try it ? (I'm too lazy to reedit my registry hehe , sorry)
I might be asking a stupid question here....but is "customPDF" an app I have to open? I can't find it anywhere, even when seaching for it online.. I have a Lumia 930, do I need to root it before I can edit egistry and get more tiles on my startscreen?

first do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win.../jailbreak-interop-unlock-windows-10-t3178140 to interop unlock.
then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...xap-custompfd-registry-editor-tweaks-t2981057 to install CustomPFD
CustomPFD is some kind of Registry Editor in Windows Desktop

Any workaround to get call recording available ? 640XL

Hello everyone,
I really want to record a call, we know that Lumia 550 and 950 have this function natively available ? So why not in other Lumias ?
Some users suggested that editing the registery keys in this path That is related to call recording and to set it as the ones in 550,950,950xl will help.
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Phone/Settings
The picture in attachment show the registery keys that I have.
Hope the Great developers we have here could help us or maybe if someone had any of the previously mentioned phones could help and give us the values of these keys.
Thanks,
no workaround... x40 and older devices cant do this
