Call Recording, 2 way - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hello,
Looking on the internet, even on this forum, tells me that there are lots of solutions for this question. But... It seems to be all for the Kaiser. My question:
What is the best 2 way call recording software for the Rhodium, and which work?
Is there any way to record videocalls? Or is this just impossible?
3rd question, nothing to do with the one above:
I've tried to install the Xperia Panel interface on the rhodium. It works fast and responsice, but:
After installing the Media Xperience panel, and I tap on it, it stays on the media picture.
Choosing other panels needs soft reset.
After deleting of the Panel Interface, Manila 3D is *** up. Only Hard Reset works...
Is there any project to make it compatible without damaging TF 3D? So you can use the panels (Media XP for me) when needed, and close it again to use Manila again (or better, use them both).
Thanks for any response

Nobody? Or does the Kaiser software work?

ever tried this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3965945#3 ?

I don't have mine yet, but I seem to recall someone else posting that the built in app notes (I think that's what it's called) would record two way.

that does not work my tp2. the availability of 2way recording is probably rom dependent. (i got a german t-mobile mda vario V)

Solution for you.
To enable 2 way recording just change:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
and you'll be able to record with any software.
If you want to use WM6 native recording (WAW only, on \my documents\notes, manual activation: during a call hit "record" on call menu) create:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
Don't forget to turn off (and on again ) the device after you modify/create the keys.
Tested both on my TP2.

I'm sure you'll need a program for that. This Audio Notes Touch seems the best to me. I've tried it, but to date I haven't had a phone that can record both sides

I'm glad you like it.
To record all calls download resco audio recorder..Is the best I tried so far.
Allows you to record each call with different audio presets/codecs.

You emphasize to change the VocRecPath DWord in the WaveDev key.
But I don't have a VocRecPath DWord.
Does that mean I have to create the DWord?

Sorry, crosspost with my editing: I found that already
But thanx for the reply.
Can you answer my editted question, please?

I emphasized it because I wanted to emphasize that some keys/values are to be created others should be already there (rom dependent).
I don't know why you don't have that value..(compare your rom version with the one on my signature and let us know)
Try creating it, soft reset and see what happen
You should be lucky and everything should work.
You should not damage your phone if you create it
However keep us informed

Creating the DWORD works like a charm.... thanks for the tweak!

When it says dword:00000002, does that mean changing the "Value data" to "2"? Also, do I set the base to binary, decimal, or hexidecimal?
Thanks.

How to access the reg keys in Pro 2
Sorry for asking a dumb question but how in the world one can access the reg edit in TM-TP2?

MS Voice Command... any good?

is Microsoft Voice Command any good?
Voice Command has to be one of the best programs I ever installed. The ability to start and end calls without ever touching the phone (using Bluetooth headset) is excellent. There is support for controlling the media player as well as launching other programs / Web pages.
Now the down side. On the Universal, there are a few issues. First, Voice Command will not work from a bluetooth headset correctly with the screen closed. You have to have the screen open, or in PDA mode for Voice Command to work. Second, there is an issue with Voice Command not showing a contact correctly on request.
Other than those two issues, I am very happy with Voice Command and highly recommend it. For a program that requires no voice training, I think it is very good. The functions are limited but for the price, good stuff.

No.
Well,
1) Speech is very quiet. Too quiet to hear unless you are in a very quiet room. A hack to improve this doesn't make any (noticeable) difference.
2) Speech recognition only works in a quiet room.
3) Don't work unless Exec is in 'phone' mode.
4) Contacts don't display correctly. Copying the res file doesn't work for everyone - including me.
5) Programs supported are not customisable - you have to stick with the shipped Microsoft applications. You cannot replace the Calendar or Media player with ones of your choice (PocketInformant and TCPMP spring to mind.). This is inexcusable.
6) Memory footprint. Large program, especially as 90% of its features are useless to me (see point 5)
In conclusion. I have now uninstalled it.
Its good fun for the show off factor =) and the res fix worked with me.
Hi,
I have played around with it but it's crashes my universal day by day.
Contacts are not shown, ok, but the universal gets so slow and crashes very often.
Other programs could not be started and so on.
I tried to deactivated from crash to crash another program which runs and after I deactivated the Microsoft Voice Command, system gets faster and all my problems has gone.... ;-)
Does anyone know if there will be a new version of this program which will work with WM5?

Please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49147&start=25 there's a patch for M$V1.5 for WM5 posted by me there. Fixed all the problems for me, made it louder, clearer and more stable.
Regards.
Some tweaks may solve the problem.
I have a Cingular 8125 with 200Mhz CPU (reportedly running at 180Mhz only).
I use Omapclock to speed up PocketSNES, but it doesn't speed up the keyboard selector at all.
Also tried the Registry trick, but restoring the original Registry after installing Voice Command clears everything, settings, program icon... ... and disable Voice Command.
So it's not a good solution.
Finally tried to tweak the Registry (for generally speeding up WM5).
It's worked so perfectly for me.
The Keyboard Selector menu pops up in 1 second or less, almost instantly.
Before tweaking, even without Voice Command installed, it takes 2 to 4 seconds.
Here are the steps:
---------------------------------------------------------------
I.
Increase cache: Noticable effect on WM5.01. Use any registry editor:
* Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
* Change 'limit' to 8192 up to 32768
* Close registry editor (Save)
* Soft reset
II.
Disable Animated Menu (I know, doesn't relate much with the KB selector problem, but it speeds up the whole system anyway)
Use Registry Editor:
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\GWE\Menu,
* Change "AniType" from default 6 to 0
III.
Use any add-on that close the programs for real, not just minimize it (SPB Pocket Plus, or PHM Free Utilities, whatever)
IV.
Increase SD card access rate:
Use Registry Editor:
* hklm\drivers\sdcard\clientdrivers\class\mmc_class
* hklm\drivers\sdcard\clientdrivers\class\SDMemory_c lass
Change both BlockTransferSize from 64 to 128 or 256
(I use 256. Don't know if it make the reading/writing process any unstable, but so far no problem for me ever. Plus I have backup, so why worry)
V.
Affects WM5.0 and can increase overall speed up to 20%
Use Registry Editor to change from default 0 to:
* [HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS] CacheSize = 4096 EnableCache = 1 * [HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt] ReplStoreCacheSize = 4096
SOFT RESET
(For me, I did everything before Resetting)
PHM registry Editor can be downloaded from http://www.phm.lu/products
Good luck.
If that does not solve your problem, please tell. Because then I know that I might accidentally did something else that made it work

Will TPII Support 2-Way Recording

I'm seeing all kinds of stuff out there about full duplex capabilities on the TPII. Does this mean I can finally record all my conversations without having to go to speakerphone?
I would prefer to record all calls to businesses like Time Warner, ATT, Banks, and ESPECIALLY insurance companies....where just the threat of recalling (and playing for the insurance commission) a recorded conversation has yielded very positive results in the past. Neither my Tilt nor Fuze could do it and I'd love to upgrade with this feature in mind.

I´m sure it will
Even my Old Universal support 2 way recording perfect!
I would have assumed my Fuze would have had this feature given the fact that so many other handsets support it - but no dice. Good thing I was given the Fuze as a free replacement for my 3rd replaced Tilt so I will still qualify for upgrade when the TPII comes out.
I would just like to see if anyone can answer this conclusively - maybe I can call HTC and ask? Would they even know how to respond to such an inquiry?

Can anyone confirm if there is support for call recording and any apps out there that will do it.
I was hoping to find a away of call recording and attaching it to a calender entry automatically.
Thanks
I'm confirming that the TP2 has 2 way call recording. I just used the notes application while in call and it records both me and the other side of the line.
Is there an application like those available on Symbian phones to automatically record conversations and after the call ask if you want to keep it?
I would suggest Resco Audio Recorder or Vito Audio Notes.
I can confirm TP2 supports 2-Way recording, but you have to make some chenges to the reg to enable it:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN]
"AUDIO_DEBUG_FLAG"=dword:00000040
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"RingingAddressId"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
After this, perform a soft-reset, then you can use any In-Call recording software, like Vito Audio Notes.
This reg hack works on my Touch Pro2 Hong Kong Chinese Version.
Just wondering why you had to do the hack when whtrbt7 reported no issues recording?
Are both sides clear and have level volume? I'm guessing you don't have to use the speaker for this to work right (like I did with my TP and Tilt)?
It might depend on the ROM of your TP2. Mine came with 2 way recording and as I check the registry, it looks like the entries jzhok posted are on there already. Others may have to put the registry edits in for 2-way recording.

[App][Beta] ACR – Auto Call Recorder (Version 1.1 – 22/6/2009)

ACR – Auto Call Recorder
First a Warning! This application is not legal in all countries/states. Check first before you use this software as you could get into serious trouble in some areas.
This Application does what the title says; it records your phone calls automatically. It automatically detects when you are on an incoming or outgoing call and then records the conversation to the folder you specify. It saves the call as a file in the format of [Direction] [FileAs] [Phone Number] [Call Length]
Installation:
Copy the cab file to your device and execute it but double clicking on it in a program such as Explorer/Total Commander/Resco File Explorer. You can install the program to either the device or the storage card.
Next go to your programs folder and you will see a new Icon for Auto Call Recorder. Click on the Icon and the options for Auto Call Recorder will be displayed. Once you have chosen your options click the Enable Recording button on the File Tab and close the Options Program. That’s it you are now automatically recording any calls your device has.
Options:
File Tab
This tab has a button to enable and disable the call recorder. The effect is not instantaneous as the Options Program has to communicate with the Recorder Process so when you press the button give it a couple of seconds to update itself. I didn’t include the options in the recorder process to conserve resources so this is the trade off.
The File Tab also contains a Textbox for the path to save the files to. Some example paths are:
"\" Records to the root path of the device
"\Storage Card\" Records to the root of the Storage Card
"\Storage Card\Calls\" Records to the folder ‘Calls’ in the Storage Card.
Recording Tab
The recording tab contains the setting for the file to be recorded. First is the Wav format. This is either PCM or GSM6.10 PCM is a ‘raw’ wav format that will use about 1MB per minute. I have included this format for devices that do not support GSM6.10. The other format GSM6.10 is a ‘compressed’ Wav format and consumes approximately 30kB per minute. Obviously this is the preferred choice.
Bits per channel are either 8 or 16 bits. 16 bits is the preferred choice but I have also included 8 bits for slower devices.
Samples per Second are the number of samples taken each second. This is a matter of preference/device capability. The choices are 8000, 11025, 16000, 22050, 32000, 44100, 48000, 96000 and 192000Hz. If you have a slow device then you are better starting from the bottom and working your way up by testing to see which the best is for you. If you have a newer device then it is more a choice of how much space you want to use as the higher the number the more space the file will use. Also your device may not support the higher frequencies so I recommend starting with something like 48000Hz. If you set the frequency to high you will get gaps in your recordings.
Read Me Tab
This tab contains a small readme file and some credits. No settings.
Uninstalling:
To uninstall Auto Call Recorder disable recording in the ACR options first before uninstalling the Cab.
Devices:
This programs has been reported to work on the following devices:
Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson X1, HTC Kaiser, HTC Diamond, HTC Diamond 2, HTC Trinity, HTC Touch 3G, HTC Touch Cruise, HTC Touch HD
If your device is not in the list there is no harm in trying anyway. Please report back any success so I can add your device to the list.
Links:
.NET Compact Framework 3.5 Redistributable

1.2 Available Here
1.1 Removed - Should be able to used by most non English roms.
1.0 Removed - First version. English only.
[App][Alpha] ACR – Outlook Import 2007
[App][Alpha] ACR – Outlook Import 2007
In typical XDA fashion you get not one but two for the price of none!
This is an application for Outlook that runs on Windows and not the PDA. Start the Application and put the path you used for calls on the device in the textbox and click the Import Calls button when your device is connected to the PC. It should then precede to imports all the calls from the device to Outlook under the contact used on the device. If it can’t find the contact it will store the call under ‘Unknown’. You can then use either the journal to look at the calls or open the contact and look at the ‘activities’ for the contact. To play the call just open the item and click on the link in the item.
WARNING! This program is far from finished. It’s only for those that don’t mind things going wrong. Also the program deletes all but the lastcall.wav file off the device when it has imported the files.
Anyway if you’re feeling brave and ACR is working for you then please do post any problems you might have if you try this.
It works on my Rhodium!
Thank you very very much!
I'll give it a try. Do you have some screenshots that you can post here?
Doesn't work with German ROM
Unfortunately, your program doesn't seem to work with German ROM. It always gives me a "directory not found exception", even if I use only "\" for the recording path. Maybe there are some language specific symbols hard coded? (For example, "Storage Card" is "Speicherkarte" on German devices).
Opps sorry I forgot not everyone in the world uses English roms. I can make you a German version pretty quickly if you can post the path for \Windows\Startup\ in German. I'll look into finding this path automatically via code in the next version though. Thanks for that.
\windows\startup in German
The equivalent to "Windows\Startup" is in German ROMs probably "Windows\AutoStart" (but there is also a folder "Windows\Autorun").
Thanks for your efforts!
Sorry I obviously can't test this. I look through the code and that was the only English string I could find. The installer adds some registry keys but I don't know if they would stop the program. Try this and if it doesn't work I'll get onto it tomorrow.
Not quite
Now, it accepts the path, but when you actually try to record a call, you get an "Unexpected Error in ACRBase.exe". So there seem to be some more issues...
I will be waiting patiently for an internationalized version, though

Any tip ??
gr8 work
is it support 2 way recording ?
This is one of things I missed most since I left my Palm OS Treo 650 for a Windows Mobile Touch HD. I was using a program called CallRec then. That program provided many advanced features including encrypted storage and very good noise filtering. You might want to check their site: http://www.qmobilsoft.net/Products/products.html.
Anyway, your program will probably fill the gap somehow, thankyou. I will try it now and report the results.

How to silence camera?

Is there an easy way to suppress the sound effects when using the camera?
Doh! Sorry - I just found it on the 2nd menu options page of the camera app...
Where? I'm blind?
Call me stupid, but I don't see the sound options in the Camera settings. I too am looking for a way to silence the camera sounds when taking pictures.
In the Camera settings, go to the Advanced Options. On the 3rd page is a "Shutter Sound" option.
Just a FYI
Hey there!
Well is you have the Telus version YOU ARE SCREW like me
the option is not there
but I found that if you call your voice mail and take picture at the same time, you will get the sound from \windows\shuttersound.wav witch is quiet compare to the rom one.
I did try to delete the file but it keep getting copy over after a softreset
good luck men

I have an unlocked device so I can disable the sound via the camera app settings. But for those of you who can’t, perhaps you can try messing with this registry entry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General\DisableShutterSound
If it doesn’t work, place the unzipped attached file into your Windows directory. It’s just a blank wav file (created by opening Windows Sound Recorder and clicking “Save as” without doing anything).
If it still doesn’t work, then maybe you’ll need a wav file recorded with a second of silence…
Thanks but..
Thanks for the reply but that is not working.
I still wanna use the stock phone for now.. but one day I will jump the fence..
I did Try the registry change(S) .(went all through all the reg. to find out something else) deleting reg word and folders (not the greatest solution but i was trying...
had to hard reset 2 times.
I did try to install about 6 others HTC camera cabs..from tp hd etc custom software
I deleted the .wav file I did try to replace it with a silence file. but a soft-reset will re put it back
don't worry about it.. I did try and I FAILED
Canon ftw

I will look for the reg setting but if you find it before I do then you can change the sound path from windows\shuttersound.wav to windows\none and that should work. when I find the reg setting I will make a cab for it. should be tonight but if not then I will post it in the am.
Ok here is the cab. Try it and let me know. It does not silence it totally but it only leaves a small click
Sorry ...

Hello HTC Friend,
I did try your Cab file ... and I still have the "Big" shutter sound + the CLICK from telus. I did try many others "cab file" to remove the shutter without success
The "work around" I found use the windows sound file but it really not a good solution to call your voice mail and then get your pic.. ( often too Late)
I did saw the windows\******* in the past (the reg changed was done) noting happen
It look Like TELUS overlap the "windows/HTC" camera function.
What really bugging me is That I CAN'T find the "occ/wav/mp3/midi/audio" file that generate the shutter sound (w/total commander or explorer)
Is it possible that the file would be hidden in The ROM ? and Can't be change unless you move to a custom rom ?
I "kinda" scare to change my rom .. I really depand on my phone.. ( no line at home and I need it to open the door of my App) So I really need something 101% working.
Thanks for you help
Just turn off the phone's sound before opening camera
sorry

I tried the cab, but it does not work on my TP 2, which is the Australian version. I have tried to play around with many reg edits but nothing is changed. Somebody in the other forum managed to modify the camerarc.dll for the Touch HD and Touch Diamond, and it worked for those phones. I wonder if there has been a DLL modification for the Touch Pro 2 version as well?
You may check this thread on modifying the DLL file on ther HTC model to silence the sound.

Need application for voice record which works in background

Hi, Everyone.
I have a very specific question.
I need an application which works in background to record sound.
Just like the standard one of the tp2 at notes, but it has to be invinsible. So if you look at the screen.
Thanks in advance.. Waiting for your advise !!
dude, you heard winmo in multitasking yet?
you run voice recorder and cover it with something else,
or minimize after run. tapping X should just minimize(=hide)
or if you want, get and install mortscript, and create this file:
silentREC.mscr
==========
Run("\windows\Recorder.exe","")
Sleep( 3000 )
SendSpecial( "LeftSoft" )
Minimize ( "Voice")
====
then put shortcut to the mscr file into statr mneu
Search for ACR on xda I think that you are looking for that program.

i've been looking for something like this since my MDA days...
Download "Rhodium Settings Tool" by Tom_Condon here --->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549135 and then go to Menu>Phone Settings>Next (Page) and the last option on the bottom will be to enable phone record.
