Resistant SWC Problems - 3 wires at car, 2 at HU - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Can anyone confirm that these units work with other mics? I plugged in my Kenwood Mic but people can't hear me at all.
Also, my car has 3 wires for the swc, swc1 swc2 and swg (I think for the ground). The radio harness only has 2 wires, will the buttons work if I only connect 1 and 2?

I'm wondering the same thing. I can't get mine to work. Currently I have the 1 and 2 conected to the car steering wheel wires and the the ground to other grounds. It doesn't work. It's a Chrysler 300 if anyone knows.
Great rom, I'm new to these Chinese decks only have had it a week so I've been trying to read through the thread before I ask dumb questions. Lol

If you dont have swg, try swc1 from the car to scw1 to radio and scw2 from the car to ground? Also you can swap swc1 and swc2. Make sure you document what combinations you have tried.

Regards mics, almost all PC and phone mics will be the electret type, and will be able to work across systems. They consume tiny amounts of power and are fed a small offset voltage on their signal lines. Usually 5v but can be all the way down to 1.7v The most likely reason your Kenwood wont work is the plug/jack layout. Correctly wired the mic should have signal on the tip, and ground on the shield of the plug. Problem is even apple and android standards for this vary, and plugs have been introduced with stereo headphones and mic on one cable i.e. four connectors in the jack. My head unit ext. mic jack came with one of these, even though it only wired up one signal and ground. Try a mono to stereo adapter, or a stereo to mono adapter. The best way is to test connectivity with a multimeter, and match signals up.
I just did the steering wheel controls. You MUST have all 3 wires from the car. I can confirm, once you have identified which is ground, the other 2 can be connected either way around and it works fine. If the ground is not connected, and you can ground it anywhere, does not have to be at the head unit, you will get random control results, mine I had 3 working buttons, and 3 dead.

Ok, I guess I'll try using the Mic that came with the unit and hopefully it'll work.
About the SWC, from what I understood you connected swc1 & swc2 to the 2 swc wires on the radio harness, and you also connected your swg to any ground wire (example harness ground) or point you can find.
So after you grounded the swg wire, all 6 of your buttons were working?

Yeah it did but it doesn't mention anything in cases like mine where you have 3 swc wires. It's cool, I'm going to connect the 2 wires and ground the third.

Yes, correct at first I just connected the 2 wires up to the new head unit, on mine called KEY1 and KEY2. Only 3 buttons worked. Then I did a little research on my car, and it was clear the 3rd wire is a ground. Connected and all 6 buttons great.

Hey Mike, mind your business.

It is kinda off topic but no need to be rude, a simple "you might get more help in the Help/Question/FAQ section" would be more polite, and "mind your business" is also not a polite answer to the comment. It's like throwing more wood in the fire... I'm just saying... Let's all get along, glad everybody worked out the switch control issue. As for messing with something and having issues afterwards, I would suggest to take the car to the stealership (dealership) and have them reflash it, maybe you're lucky and it has a fw upgrade? I've never had any swc control change any settings before though... I know that on my VW cc I have all buttons on the left work properly (6 total - up, down, left, right, phone and voice) but on my F15 most of them work (5 total - vol+, vol-, rew, fwd, media) out of 8 work, because of SYNC, the last bottom 3 don't work.
BTW, veliksam, I noticed you are from Orlando (I am too) are you having issues with the 24-hour not staying off? Or do you have 24-hour on because you are used to it or what? All my units (3 total) the 24-hour turns on by itself half the times when I turn on the car, and I'm used to non 24-hour... This happens on this ROM and I believe even on the stock one.

[Q] Record audio through micro usb???

I'll try to be brief... I run sound booth at my church and we record the sermon on a laptop via the phono jack on the soundboard, but I already use my phone for some of the music and audio files. I'm trying to streamline and use as few devices as possible. Is it possible to record the sermon on my phone via phono jack ---> 3.5 mm -----> micro usb ?
I've been searching this and have found apps that will allow you to record from usb microphone and what not but not sure if micro usb to 3.5 mm will allow audio input (or if it's only good for audio output) to the sgs3...
Any Help would be awesome.
Thanks.

Actually I am trying to do the exact same thing for our church. And here is what I have found out. You can record to a cell phone using the 3.5mm TRRS plug if you have a splitter. Like this one http://amzn.com/B004SP0WAQ or search amazon for MUYHSMFF 3.5mm 4-Pin to 2x 3-Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter. Using this should work, but I haven't tried it. I just ordered my cable form Amazon today.
Also, you can check this out...https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=316369108422890 The developer of the app RecForge Pro sent this to me when I asked him the question.
Im trying to do all this on an OG Evo4G, so I will let you know if it works out.
and so far, I havent found a solution to record via micro-usb. I would imagine it would need some sort of converter because the line out of the board is typically an analog signal and it would have to be converted to a digital signal for the usb. That is why the splitter option should be just a plug and play. Analog to Analog.
I'll Let you know.

Headphone socket not working

Hi All,
Im sure I can't be the only one but is anyone else having a problem trying to get sound out of the headphone socket?
Any searching I have done shows a similar problem on the M8 after a firmware update.
I have had the phone less than 24 hours and have only transferred my numbers etc across with the HTC tool.
Im currently on 1.32.161.15.
The socket works as I am able to force the audio to it with soundabout from the play store.
Any help/advice appreciated.
Many Thanks

I'm still on 1.32.401.15 and no problem at all with the headphone socket tested with the earphones came along with the phone.
And wow what a sound, normaly im using my bleutooth headset and never use in ear phones but wow love the sound
Thanks for the info.
Ive been out all day and was using my old headphones that came with my sgs3.
Just tried the supplied ones and they are indeed recognised by the phone.
Sorry to have started this over what seems nothing and thanks for your help.

Headphone Jack stopped working
Hi. My headphone Jack just stopped working. I had this problem on my m7. Didn't expect it to still be an issue on the m9. Any solutions out there?
Clean the connectors this usually fixes most issues, fluff getting stuck in the hole is common and causes the most issues
The similar case happened to me once when I updated my M7 to a new Android OS. The phone still couldnot produce audio even I changed two new earphones, I was thinking about replacing the headphone jack. The problem solved the other day when I accidentally turned on the volume button! It's not about the headphone jack, it's because I turned the volume off! Well, that's really a shame.
HTC One M9 Sound Not Directed to Headphones
Hey,
My headphones aren't working. I just woke someone up! The sound is coming from the phone. I tested the headphones. And the phone acknowledges they are plugged in. Help?

Headphone socket [SOLVED]
First of all im taking credits cuz it wasnt me who came up w this idea.
1. Plug in your headphones ALL THE WAY IN
2.immediatly pull it out(just a little bit you will notice)
Repeat these steps until you see the icon pop up.
Works with m8 and m9 so far
Hi,
My phone recognizes that the headphones are plugged in, and the icon shows up for them. However, there is still sound coming out of my phone, although it's muffled. I thought it might be a problem with the headphones, until I tried them on my other devices and they worked. I'm not sure what to do.
How do you clean the connectors

Just get a paper clip or other stiff thin object and push in the pluck out the debris if any from inside, pocket lint can stop the headphone jack from going all the way in, you'd be surprised how much can come out of it.
I'm having a similar problem, but it's earphones WITH a mic that don't work. Otherwise earphones without a mic seem to work just fine.
Any suggestions?

Clean the fluff out of the socket. Then you wont be able to see any of the plug when you plug it in!.

Steering wheel control on canbus cars (GM)

Hello all, I have a Chevy Malibu and I wanted to use the steering wheel control on my eonon GA2114. I have wired ASWC-1 but it didn't give any signal in the learning mode. Any ideas? Anyone did this on GM cars? Thank you.
I am also trying to figure this out, I got a PAC-rg5-gm11 interface which has a blue wire and a 3.5mm headphone plug to retain steering wheel controls, but not sure how to hook that up to the key1 5v, or key 2 5v, none seem to work.
Any luck on this yet? I'm in the same boat with my jeep. Trying to figure out the wiring before everything gets here. The PAC unit has 1 headphones looking jack and 1 blue wire. The eanon radio I'm getting has 2 swc data wires.

If you cut off the headphone jack you should have two wires red and black (or possibly white) just connect the red one to one of the key wires (I used key1) on the radio harness.
I just figured that out. Set the canbus to pioneer and it worked perfectly. Wish I saw this post earlier today lol

Is PAC SWC Module necessary?

I have an Eonon branded RK3188 unit - I replaced an older Pioneer system that a previous owner of the car (2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee) had installed - his setup used a PAC SWC module, which the guys who installed my Eonon used as well - was wondering that since the unit itself seems to have wiring specific to the steering wheel function, if this module is necessary at all? I ask because there on the left side SWC, my middle button mirrors another button, is not recognized independently - I had previously installed a different Android Head Unit, and with that one, the buttons functioned properly -

There must be a Jeep Grand Cherokee forum or a ask a dealer.
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I use SWC without PAC SWC module. You have only to take a couple of wires from the connector under the steering wheel to the radio (yellow connector if I am remember right), disconnecting the original connector.

Did you get this going? I figured this out a few months back, myself. My truck (2005 Ram) didn't have SWAC from the factory, but I installed them myself.
What I did was cut the wire going to the MUX (connector behind instrument cluster. I made a jumper to run from the cut wire off the column and made a jumper to get to the head unit. The HU chassis is already grounded via the harness, so there was no need to make a ground. The jumper made a "Y", with one leg going to Key1 and the other to Key2. Really, I guess you could just run one wire and combine the Key wires together as the HU will sort out the resistance.
Jumper-before soldering/heat shrinking.
Done this way, it can easily be restored.

MTCB-HZC gets no love.

I have an XTRONS TD696A that came with Android 4.4.4. I upgraded it to 5.1, using Malaysk Roms and it operates great. Minor issues though is my DVD player no longer works. I'm not sure if it's the app that's missing, or something else. Also, i have the same MIC issues as the rest of them. I opened mine up to have a look at separating two microphones, 1 to codec, 1 to BT. But where some have C32 capacitor and C102. I seem to have a realtek chipset instead. I'm wondering if anyone had been able to do the modification on an hzc unit, and if so, where did they separate them. I will add pictures shortly. Any help on where I should be modding will be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!
*Edit* if anyone had the apk for the DVD player from the stock firmware could they please upload it, so I can see if that fixes my DVD not functioning problem.
Here are some pictures, more to come
The solder circled on the bottom right corner of the chip has continuity to the internal mic, as well as the BT mic+. It also seems to be connected to the external mic through the provided connector on the rear of the unit. The second picture is the same area just zoomed out.

I have this unit and did the mic mod by breaking the connection at the BT board and soldering a new external mic jack. I can't remember where the post was that I used as a guide. It was really simple though and phone calls seem to be crystal clear.
