As the title says (*kills). Sound working ok and after the update when I don't use the tablet for a while sound goes off for all the system. I reboot it and after the reboot it works. But several minutes later the sound is dead again. Any one with this issue???
This is so f..king annoying.
Thanks!!
Edit: kills the mic too.
Edit2: while it's charging through the charger it seems, even letting it a while locked, that sound doesn't go off. Really Google? So fuc..d up developers you have?

No problems here with the update.
All good here too
Mine is also fine on the new update.
Could be a bad flash. Try flashing the factory image and seeing if that helps.
Don't have a USB C cable and I won't buy one for this ****ty tablet. I spend 500€ to work my ass out to make this thing run okay? Hell no. Rooted and unlocked all my Android devices, not this one guys. It's really annoying. A month a go my nexus 6 battery died. Do you know how many years my Galaxy SIII worked before saying good bye? 5 years.
Back on topic. Safe mode won't help, sound even does not comes up at start. Factory reset won't help, issue persists. Only when charging sound wont go off.

Maybe you have a bad device?
Never seen that issue on mine or on wife's, but my sample size is 2 ....

Yes post it in google forums products and obvious answer came up like "safe mode", bla, bla, bla.
Already done an RMA. I won't bother myself doing anything else than updating via OTA with this Google device.
Thankfully the Google representative was really really nice and did all the tedious work a pleasure
Same here. Sound won't work after a while. Reboot helps.
No errors during flashing the factory image. Even the keyboard upgrade worked flawlessly.
Sound Issue
I had a sound issue yesterday on my tablet, which may or may not be the same thing.
No media sounds coming out of the speakers, even though the volume was turned up high, odd thing was notifications still seemed to work - i.e. calendar reminders still made the notification sounds and trying to change notification sounds also played the sounds as usual.
Grabbed my headphones and plugged them in and media sound was OK - removed headphones again and speakers were back.
I had been been using my tablet to watch movies on a flight back home with my headphones and assume that for some reason the tablet did not identify the removal event - so still had the speakers blocked!!
No errors too when flashing my unit. But there the problem was.
Regarding about plugging headphones in and out, and reverting sound back to normal, did not work for me. But when sound was working after restart and headphones were plugged, before every media sound was played a clacking noise appears.

I came here to post the same issue. At first I thought it was a third party app, however it is not. I'm currently in contact with Nexus Support and will update when I have an answer.
Edit: contacted Google Support and, of course, trouble shooting came down to a factory reset. I will try this and update if the issue was resolved.
Didn't work for me

I'm experiencing the lost sound problem. Please let us know if the problem returns on your new unit. Haven't decided whether to RMA mine.

Update here was working flawlessly. I activated Google now when screen off and issue returned. Seems to be software. But I don't understand why the factory reset on the other unit didn't fixed it. Try turning that option off.

I thought this had happened to me too but then after reading through this and someone mentioned audio blocking I remembered that I had this button called Pressy installed in my headphone jack, once I removed it, the sound worked again!

Hi all.
I'm having a little issue with my Gnex,
When silent mode is on, I can hear micro sounds from the speaker, it only happens when a sound should run in that moment (if I were using loud mode) like pressing keys or typing in keyboard.
If I disable key sounds this issue disappear but well, I don't want to modify this check everyday.
Someone with the same problem?
Running stock Gnex, JB 4.1.1
Thanks in advance

Please someone help,
I've detected also that battery stats tells that audioOut_2 is running, it stops if I disable those sounds but not If I put the Gnex on silent.
Any anyone?
Thanks so much

does it happen on all of the roms you flash?? have you tried using quiet hours instead of setting it to silent?
as for the audioOut_2 wakelock, here's a discussion link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792081
they said that sometimes, it occurs because of apps or games continuing to run in the background like gta3 for example.
someone also posted that switching to faux's kernel got rid of the issue.
Firstly, thanks for trying to help.
I tried some custom roms before coming back to stock, but I can't remember about this issue,
If I remember correctly, it was happening also before I perform last factory reset.
Anyway, did u understood my problem? It is quite hard to explain it
Thanks for all

Well I've tried the same with headphones connected and the "sound" still appears while the phone is silent and using my keyboard (or just clicking on send in messages)
Any idea how to fix it?
I'm having a problem with my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML.
During a call, suddently the audio gets heavily distorted and I can barely understand what the other speaker is saying, the voice is metallic and disturbed. I'm using the phone with Italian operator TIM. It happens totally at random, I also tried to return my phone and get another one, but even with the new one it still happens. It does that with the wired headphone, with the phone's speaker, with my car's bluetooth... I have no idea why. I'm running the latest firmware.
Does this occur to anydoby else?
Doesn't happen with mine on T-Mobile, maybe you should try a factory reset before exchanging the phone.
"I'd Totally Hug You, If That Was Something I Did"
Well, I did try a factory reset and i ALSO exchanged the phone for a new one, and I still have the same problem. It's either a firmware issue or an operator issue, but I'm betting it's got nothing to do with the operator since it's the same SIM that was in my old Nexus 5, with which I never had any problem.
Can you exchange it for a 3rd one then? Or maybe try a SIM from a different carrier as a test.
"I'd Totally Hug You, If That Was Something I Did"
I have same problem with Italian operator wind. I wrote to Asus and they urgently asked me to send them my phone. I think and hope it's a factory problem they can fix.

There are several helpful tips regarding basic troubleshooting techniques under Apps/ASUS Support/Assistance. One method for this issue is to check to see if 'AudioWizard' app is turned on, and try disabling by powering it off.

Yes, it makes no difference if audio wizard is on or off.
Actually, since I'm rooted, I tried to disable Audio Wizard completely. Will post results.
I'm on my third ZenFone 2 and they all do the same thing with me as well... the audio will randomly distort during a call. I can replicate the issue through speaker, handset speaker, and bluetooth. Mine isn't quite as severe as yours, it will get choppy for a second then straighten out, every 30-60 seconds or so. I've replicated this issue on both stock ROMs and rooted ROMs with the Asus apps frozen.
Still no difference even after disabling sound wizard. I'm starting to think that this is a structure flaw of this particular model.
The latest firmware seems to have solved this issue. The problem has not re-occurred yet.
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one having this issue. I had a Nexus 4/without issues on Bluetooth in my car using grom audio BT adapter.
I am with Wind in Canada and have had the issue since I bought the phone. I was hoping firmware would fix it, but it still occurred yesterday using firmware 2.19.40.22.
I have checked the sound wizard, but not a factory reset. Guess I could try that today.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
exx
So it's November and the issue is still a thing on my ZE551ML. It happens with approximately every third phone call - the sound gets suddenly distorted, I can barely understand the other person and he has trouble hearing me as well. Phone unrooted, stock ROM, latest OTA update (WW 2.20.40.97). I have just tried to turn off Audio Wizard for now, let's see if this helps.

I solved sending the phone to Asus assistance, they have changed the motherboard and fixed the problem. They have taken about 15 days. No money required because it's a warranty repairing.

Thank you for your answer. I have found out, that this issue happens ONLY when mobile data are on. If the problem occurs and I turn the data off, sound quality is normal again. It's probably somehow connected with the data network available in the moment (EDGE, 3G, LTE), because data on doesn't always mean the sound gets distorted. If I understand it right, 4G works on the similar frequences as GSM - so it could be some conflict between voice services and internet services (bad priority settings or something?). It seems to me, that after latest firmware update, the issues is not THAT bad, bud still annoying.
Does anyone know what might fix this? Or is there at least any tool that would disable mobile data during a call and turn it on again when the call is over? I would prefer not sending it for repair, cause you know, time is precious.

Yes: I get exactly the same symptoms; my current 'phone is the replacement model for exactly the same problem as the first zenfone 2
tried everything including selecting 2/3G new sim card but it occurs on both #1 or # 2 sim cards and it is intermittent
Methinks it MUST be a hardware problem. All ideas and suggestions welcome as I do like this phone....if only it would work as a phone!
Just installed a new 11-c0255 into my car. When I attempt to set up bluetooth I can find my phone no problem but when they try attempt connect you can see the bluetooth icon appear for a split second on the car screen, and the bluetooth buttons become colored. Then it all goes back to grey. A few second later it happens again(both the bluetooth icon and the colored buttons) then back grey.
I have tried on with both mine and my girlfriends phone and it does the same with both.
Also the weather app is always blank, even if i manually add a city it remains blank.
Any ideas?
Interesting enough my friends Iphone and his girlfriends stock HTC both connect fine. Could be a bluetooth issue with the CM13 me and my g/f are running.
Confirmed an issue with the CM13 rom we are using.
Still dont know why I have the blank weather app.
Finally! I thought i was the only one. CM13 in my Oneplus One does the same thing. I go back to 12.1 (5.1.1) and all is fine.
EDIT: Mine is a Pumpkin C0250
I have a OnePlus One and have been having TERRIBLE problems with Bluetooth not always connecting. I haven't suspected the phone because my Bluetooth OBD dongle also can't connect when it happens... but it may be possible something the phone is doing is crashing the bluetooth stack on the radio. Guess I'll switch back to the old Nexus 5 for a test run... *sighhhh*... Changing SIMs is a pain because I have a pretty hefty case on the OnePlus One.
EDIT: Oh, I see you were on CM13. I'm still on CM12.1 YOG4PAS3JL. Still, worth a shot.

Bluetooth media works fine...
Anybody know any fix?
Thnx!

With this version my weather app start working.
Just updated after putting it off after a few days, everything is sluggish and feels terrible.
Very laggy.
Before, everything was perfect.
Anyone else?

I realized it only happened under 50%, never happened to me before. Seems to be a common problem. I enrolled in beta, and I'll see if that fixes the problem. I saw that replacements are having the same problem, so there's no use.
Its the update. Same situation, a lot of lag

Seems to be new DP2 update for our devices since today https://www.xda-developers.com/andr...ve-for-nexus-6p-nexus-5x-nexus-9-and-pixel-c/
Let's try
Glad to see (well not really...sucks to have random issues) other than my wife's tablet...its been driving her nuts lately with it getting laggy and all the random reboots. I was tempted to sign up for the beta OTA but I don't want to hear it from here when something else doesn't work.
For those who tried or are part of the OTA beta program, has the random rebooting be corrected?

You could always flash the October image. The only downside is the constant, non-dismissable notification that a System Update is Available.

I could but I've been doing a little testing and have disabled Bluetooth on the tablet and it seems to be OK...as in not randomly rebooting.
I'll wait patiently for the next patch in hopes that Google corrects the standing issues.

Hi I have the same issue with 7.1.2 and even 8.0, when the battery reachs 60-50% it starts lagging very bad
I have never tried with marshmallow since I have it from just one month i'm going crazy because of this problem I've tried everything custom kernel decryption but it's always the same I'm going to try marshmallow to see if there will be differences,I hope so , did you solved?
Hi, I do not know if it is that I have broken the left speaker or is that comes from factory to make it sound lazy.
Enviado desde mi ALE-L21 mediante Tapatalk
Mine has the same problem. I guess it was a stock of tablets with this problem. It is not annoying since I'm running a custom rom and edited the sound to work as it should.
The back of these Galaxy tabs remove surprisingly easily e.g. without breaking. Guitar picks help to start popping the fasteners. Search on youtube to see how that's done - you may even come across your particular issue with a relatively easy fix.
