I currently soft bricked my phone after trying to restore my phone back to complete stock ROM to the point the OS wont boot up, instead the red triangle comes up, I'm looking for the RRU for Vodafone as because I'm currently S-On which means I can't upgrade or downgrade my firmware. I have the stock recovery image but can't find the RRU after much looking around the forums and googling I unfortunately found dead links. I need a little help
I'm sorry I'm a little new to rooting, but i will answer questions however I can
Regards!
You can find the 1.32.161.15 RUU for your M9 on androidruu. Just search the M9 library and update afterwards.

Thanks for the fast reply, I found the same RRU updating utility in a forums here too, but I get the error 115 when trying to update which is odd even after relocking the bootloader. This is why I need one for the version I'm running as I think the reason me being stuck now on S-On is causing issues.
Still really needing that RRU, I have an expensive paperweight here and no phone so some help would really be appreciated

Only find this 1.40.161.8 RUU
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347798272
I also need 2.10.161.7 or newer.
I relocked my bootloater + updating the firmwarepart to 2.10.161.7.
So I can not use it anymore.
Sunshine isn't an option, because no system is up and running. XTC2Clip is too expensive to get the HTC in S-OFF Mode. There isn't an other method at this time, right?
I can only send it to the RUU Service, but I am from Germany.
Maybe here is someone near Düsseldorf who can S-OFF my device with his XTC2Clip?
Thanks

Unless your phone is S-OFF you can't use that RUU. It's a "combined" one which means it's custom made and not signed by HTC. S-ON phones only accept files which are signed by HTC. Btw.: That's the reason why you need S-OFF for Sneakyghost's firmware packs, too.

Okay, so I have a One X, International with quad-core. CID is HTC__001.
I've had a few problems over the passed year with the phone and I had to send it into HTC twice, and on the second occasion, they replaced everything except the plastic frame.
Ever since I've received the phone back it has had 4.0.4, and I haven't been able to update. I manually search for updates but it says it's up to date.
Not exactly sure where to go from here, I've been hesitant to do anything about it because last time I updated to 4.0.4, which is when I had the problem, HTC had to replace the phone.
Anything will be appreciated. Not the most tech savy when it comes to this kind of stuff
Thanks
Johnny
Look for the 3.14.401.31 ruu and run it. It will flash the phone (if successful) to stock jellybean and wipes the phone. So back up stuff you need. Better to be safe than sorry.

Your bootloaded should be locked or relocked and you just start .exe file. You don't have to be rooted.
Since you got phone from HTC, bootloader is locked so you can start .exe file right now.
Hey, so I tried to run the ruu. I went through the process and got a "signature error 132" on the Update Utility. So after some research apparently the ruu that I downloaded was the wrong one, which was "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed"
In the attached image it has all the information.
From what I understand, something about 2.17.1900.1 is important, but I have no further knowledge and I'd love to hear what you guys think.
Thanks a lot,
Johnny

When you start bootloader are you S-ON or you are S-OFF. And are you Endeavoru XE or PVT
I sssumed because of the cid he was on 401 but has a variant the 1900......not sure that the 401 works indeed
Okay, so after looking around I couldn't find anything with 1900. Would anyone be able to redirect me?
And to answer Thant's question, I am S-ON and Endeavoru PVT.
From what I understand, you need to be rooted to become S-OFF, but this will allow you to run any ruu as it is no longer dependent on the "1900." Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd love to hear the best course of action from you guys.
Thanks
Well i would check with your provider/HTC ! I assume your bootloader is still locked atm, keep it that way and return with the statement that you can't update it while the update should be there. And if there is no available update then they should give a reason why it's not available !
If they can't help you at all you can try to unlock the bootloader and flash the 3.14.401 firmware to upgrade the hboot. Don't know if it works but might be worth a try

Not sure if we can help you... this forum is for the US Verizon model and you seem to have a Chinese version of the phone. Just because it's the same phone doesn't mean the same methods work. You need to be S-Off to do RUU from what I understand, so if somehow you locked it back to S-On you might be out of luck. On the US Verizon model if you take the OTA while S-On you can't go back.

Hello. I have an HTC ONE M8 CID : ORANG001. Bootloader LOCKED and S-ON. Running : Android 4.4.3
It is carrier unlocked, I can use whatever sim I like with this phone. Now, I want to get rid off ORANG001 and change it with a HTC__001 or some other CID so I can receive updates directly from HTC.
Does anyone know some safe steps to accomplish this ? Or I can change somehow the recovery with another one ? I think ORANG001 means that is orange stock recovery. It's not carrier locked, but still, I want to replace the ORANG001.

Yeah but to S-OFF one must be rooted first, right?
UPDATE : I just unlocked the bootloader. I want to root the device but what TWRP should I flash ?
UPDATE : Rooted the device and installed SuperSU via TWRP. Next, getting S-OFF.
UPDATE : I get this message while flashing firewater : firewater can not work on your device.
Until I manage to S-OFF can I flash through TWRP a custom ROM like CM for example ? Or S-OFF is a must for doing this ?

For firewater yes, I'm not familiar with the other methods.
If it's saying it doesn't work for your device, you're out of luck, unless you try the other methods. Which you do at your own risk obviously.

Are you sure you need s-off?
From your posts, I can plainly tell you are a noob. (no offence, that just what we call the new to rooting people here.)
S-on is there to protect your device from becoming bricked when you flash something you shouldn't be.
With S-off, if you screw up, your $700 phone might be turned into a paperweight with absolutely zero chance that the warranty is still valid.
If you want my advice, don't go S-off till you know what you are doing.

Anyways, the gist of it was this:
I was very mistaken about you. You are obviously not a noob from what I've seen on subsequent posts, you are just an M8 noob. I was in your position once, and I get it 100%
The thing is, on the Q&A, I get sick of the same questions over and over and over.
And also, people getting into soft brick trouble because of s-off.
I have no worries about you though buddy.
You will be just fine. It's not really that hard. Just different than the rest.
It's worth it though. The M8 is SOOO nice!

Yes, S-OFF would probably solve your problem since you were able to downgrade your firmware with older RUUs if your phone was S-OFF. Nevertheless you need a working system and root because the only way to achieve S-OFF on the M9 is the sunshine app. Ignore what I wrote in the last sentence. I forgot that you can get S-OFF by using a java card. However I have no expierences with java cards so I can't tell you whether there are conditions that need to be fulfilled if you want to use one.

Sunshine needs an unlocked bootloader, root and a booting system on the M9. So it's not an option in your current situation.
You can buy a java card on your own (I know that's a bad suggestion because they're so expensive) or you look for someone who owns one and does not live in the States. Some phone repair shops here in Germany advertise that they do java card service so I highly doubt that they are only available in the US.
Edit: Or as said before, you can use the RUU service I linked in post #4.

Thanks for your patience. Looks like the RUU service you referenced is my best chance to get my phone working. Thanks for the link - I wouldn't have thought of looking for that. I can't find any prices to buy a Java card. I get the impression it would be cheaper to buy a new phone! There are lots of posts about sending your phone off to somebody that already has a Java card. They all seem to be in the States. I've learnt an expensive lesson - make sure that the RUU you're going to flash is good before you flash it! Or stick with OTAs!
Many thanks for your help.

The 2.10.401.1 RUU does exist. Unfortunately it seems that the file I downloaded was partially corrupted.
I am trying to revert my M9 as much as possible to stock. I am really annoyed by the red warning on start up.
Currently it is 2.9.841.2
Is there any way to figure out which RUU i can flash on the device? I am currently downloading 0PJAIMG_HIMA_UHL_L50_SENSE70_Telstra_WWE_1.32.841.7_R_Radio_01.01_U11440261_56.01.50303G_3_F_release_425231_signed but was hoping to find something without Telstra branding.

But let's get back to the topic: Are you S-ON or S-OFF? (If you don't know you're probably S-ON.) With S-ON it's not possible to downgrade or to flash RUUs with a different SKU (the 841 stands for your Telstra branding). So you won't be able to use the RUU you mentioned in your first post. Either you look for a RUU with firmware version 2.9.841.2 or higher or you pay the 25 USD to get S-OFF via Sunshine. With S-OFF you could flash an unbranded RUU. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but Telstra is an Australian carrier, right? The Australian unbranded SKU would be 710. If you prefer the unbranded World Wide English version you should look for the 401.)

Thank you for the reply. I am in Australia. And i am S-ON unfortunately.
The de-branding is not even the biggest issue but what i really want is to get rid of the warning that it is a developer device on start up. Unfortunately this phone was sold to me the way it is. I have spent the last ween looking for the RUU of same or higher version but wasn't able to find even the one i am on

Well, at the moment I see three options you can choose from:
Get S-OFF via Sunshine and downgrade/debrand your phone. (25 USD)
Use the RUU service on llabtoofer's website. (don't know the price)
Hope that someone who already has an account can get you the 2.9.841.5 RUU from ir-file.
I know someone who might be able to help you with option 3 but I cannot guarantee anything. For example the 2.10.401.1 RUU from ir-file was corrupted/broken and because of that not flashable. In the worst case the 2.9.841.5 RUU might not work, either. (Nonetheless you would still be able to choose option 1 or 2 in that case.)

If nothing goes wrong the 2.9.841.5 RUU should be downloadable in around 4 hours.
Edit: There you go.
Has maybe anyone else downoaded it? When i unpack the file it is just about 32MB of size

Why is everbody trying to unzip RUUs? Only because it's a *.zip file that doesn't mean that you should unzip it. Do you unzip rom archives, too, before you flash them with TWRP? Look at my signature and follow the instructions in the google sheet.
Thank you so much. After i gave up trying to unpack it and looked up how to do it, it worked like a charm.
