Voice Mate Engine install failure - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
since my update from V10d-EUR-XX to V20d-EUR-XX i am not able to install Voice Mate (Engine) through the Update-Center.
Voice Mate itself and Voice Mate Speech Pack is installed without an error. But Voice Mate Speech engine always cancel its installation with an unknown error -13.
I have given the Voice Mate App every rights. Is there somewhere an apk maybe? Or what should it do???

I have the same problem. Does anybody know what is this Error -13 and how to update Voice Mate?
---------- Post added at 14:57 ---------- Previous post was at 14:31 ----------
Alright I figured it out!
Solution: The updating problem exists if you never have opened Voice Mate app before (that was my case). Before trying to update it - open the app. A TOS window will open - click I Agree. Then a window will pop up, saying that in order to use Voice Mate with Marshmallow you should update the app. It will ask you do you want to update it now - click Yes (or whatever the confirmation button is). System app updater will open and you will see something different to your previous unsuccessful tries - along with Voice Mate app update (the only one to be seen before) there is also Voice Mate Engine update in progress. Once it updates the Engine, the app will update too and you're done The Error -13 comes to show that the Engine is not updated. Somehow if you start the updating process from App Updates it will not update the Engine thus unable to update the app also.

That didnt work. It ask me to update the app when i launch it. Then after download it gave me back the error 13.
Any other solution?

Delete the data of these apps: Voice Mate, Voice Mate Engine and Voice Mate Speech pack. You can do so from Settings -> Apps -> 3-dots-menu -> Show System Apps -> find app and click on it (open app info) -> Click Storage -> Clear Data (it will also clear the cache). After you wipe the data for those apps start over my previous walk-trough

Application Installation error -- "Unknown reason -110"

Hi All,
First time poster so please be gentle -- I did search for this issue on google and within the forums first.
This is the first smartphone I've ever purchased.
My Inc2 is non rooted and non modded.
It has been working w/o issue since I bought it about 6 weeks ago until this weekend when it would no longer install updates or new apps from either the Google Android or Amazon Android markets.
Note that in both markets the app or update downloads w/o issue -- the problem happens when it attempts into install what was downloaded.
The status bar at the top reads "Installation of app X unsuccessful"
Downloads/Updates from the Google Android market result in an error message within the notification bar. Clicking on it opens a dialog box with Installation error "Unknown reason -110"
When downloading/updating from the Amazon Android market the error is less specific, I click Install, the standard screen opens confirming I want to install the app explaining what it will need access to. I click the Install button at the bottom of the page which results in "Application not installed".
Note that this happens with all app downloads or updates.
The steps I have taken so far:
1) restarting the phone
2) clearing cache/data from Applications/Android Market application (and restarting again)
3) clicking on button to remove all updates to Android Market application (and restarting again) --
Interestingly the version listed under the Market app is 2.3.4 even though it has reverted to an earlier version -- it looks very different.
On a side note: since this did not fix the problem, how do I get the newest Market version again?
4) unmounted SD card (and restarting again) -- since this did not fix the issue, I remounted the SD card
5) Used file manager to navigate to directory Download and look for files named: XX.apk, where XX is 1 to 20. -- but did not find any such files.
6) Per HTC support:
First, open the phone dialer and enter in *#*#checkin#*#* [*#*#2432546#*#*]. The number will disappear and your should see a notification of either Checkin Succeeded or Checkin Failed. If it succeeded, then new updates should be detected for your device and the application.
I received "checkin succeeded" notification
[Can someone explain to me what entering the combination above does --
what is the phone checking in with?]
Next, try moving any applications you have on the SD card to your phone's internal memory. This can be done by going to: Home> Menu> Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> On SD. Tap each program and then tap Move to Phone. Once this is done, check for updates again.
I received "Failed to move application" notification for each application on my
SD card that I attempted to move to Internal Memory
Finally, I recommend clearing the data from the Google Services Framework applications. In the Manage Applications Screen, go to: All> Google Services Framework and then tap Clear data. Check for updates once again.
Followed the direction above but have not received any updates by navigating
to Settings/Software update and clicking Check new.
For whatever it is worth clicking Status shows that my last update has name
HTC_ADR6350_LargeUpdate_3.02.605.1 with Status of Update Successful,
code of 200, date of 09/19/11 and time of 07:55PM.
7) A (perhaps) related development is that as of tonight, my Inc2 is no longer listed as one of my devices in the Google Android Market when I navigate the web page on my computer. Anyone know how to get this resolved?
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help.

Try clearing data in apps settings and reboot. How many apps are installed? When was the last time you deleted all your messaging threads and call logs?

Joshua,
Can you advise on the click path to accomplish the "clearing data in apps settings" process.
When I click Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, I just see my apps listed.
I do not use sms or text messages but I have never deleted all my messaging threads and call logs (again, I've had the phone about 6 weeks) -- I will do a quick search on the forum to learn how to take those steps.
Thanks for your help.

You're in the right place, just click on market and choose clear data. Wiping messaging and call logs, just go into the app and hit menu.

When I navigate to the Market App the "Clear data" button is grayed out.
Accessing the Phone app allows me to Clear data and I did -- can you help me with "hit menu" reference you made?
Also, I'm not sure what is normal but when I go into the Market Updater app, all the buttons are grayed out.
Thanks again.

Not the market updater app, the market app. They are different apps. It should be under the ALL APPS tab in applications settings.
"Hit menu" refers to the physical (or capacitive) menu button on the phone itself.
So you used the phone app to clear the call logs? Go to call logs and press the menu button on the phone.
Understood on the market updater app being separate from the market app -- just wanted to post an observation about the market updater as I wondered if maybe that wasn't the way it was supposed to look (all buttons grayed out).
I went to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, selected the All tab, scrolled to the Phone app and clicked the Clear data button.
Upon doing so I received a Change Mode message that a SIM card was detected and the device was switching to global mode.
Do I want to stay in global mode if I only need CDMA?
Then navigated to Settings/Call -- but I was unable to find mention of call logs and pressing the physical menu button did not bring up anything.
Sorry if I'm being dense.
Not sure if this is related to any of the steps you have recommended but my Incredible 2 is now listed again in the Google Android market when I browse to it via my computer. I'll take any good news.
Thanks

Nope, go into your call log and press menu. Open the phone app as if you're going to make a call, go to your call history, hit menu and delete all.
When you were in the all tab, that's where you clear data for market.

Thanks for the additional explanation -- totally makes sense now -- Call history is now empty.
Have done the same for messages.
Now rebooting the phone...
Tested downloading an app and unfortunately got the same -110 error.
Do you have any ideas regarding these questions I posted above?
Interestingly the version listed under the Market app is 2.3.4 even though it has reverted to an earlier version -- it looks very different.
On a side note: since this did not fix the problem, how do I get the newest Market version again?

If I will only be using my phone in the United States -- is it better to leave from phone in World or CDMA mode?
Thanks again.
cdma mode only
Can anyone help with these three still unresolved issues?
1)
Downloads/Updates from the Google Android market result in an error message within the notification bar. Clicking on it opens a dialog box with Installation error "Unknown reason -110"
2)
The steps I have taken so far:
1) restarting the phone
2) clearing cache/data from Applications/Android Market application (and restarting again)
3) clicking on button to remove all updates to Android Market application (and restarting again) --
Note that additional steps have been tried based on suggestions in this thread but nothing has worked so far.

Android customer support indicated that they had received multiple reports of this issue but did not have a fix yet.

Whatsapp on Nexus 7. Help?

Hi, i know there's already a thread about this but i can't seem to get an answer..
I have the nexus 7 tablet but i do not have a smart phone to install whatsapp..
Do you have any idea to what i have to do??
i think you can install google voice and talkatone first, then use the number to install whatsapp, didnt try it yet but i think it should work
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
if you have an rooted android phone it would be possible to back it up in titanium backup and then install it on nexus 7 which also should be rooted
The only way I've found to install Whatsapp on the N7 is to restore a Titanium Backup on it. Both your phone and your tab will need to be rooted though.
EDIT: Ah, I see that you don't have a Smartphone - not sure how you're gonna do it...

Try to download the APK from somewhere (google it) and then allow unknown sources and install it. Then I think it should be doable to put in the number of your phone and once you get the message copy the code in.
I am not sure if this is doable, since I haven't tried, but I think it's worth a shot.

Did you use Appguard to block Whatsapp seeing it's on a tablet?
---------- Post added at 06:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
Download the AppGuard .apk from http://www.backes-srt.de/produkte/srt-appguard/
Direct link to .apk http://hive.x-pire.net/appguard-mobile.apk
Now, with Whatsapp installed start AppGuard and select "Secure a new app" and then select Whatsapp. AppGuard will take you through three steps and secure the app. With that done, you now need to change Whatsapp's permissions in AppGuard - remove the setting for "Phone calls - read phone status and identity".
Whatsapp should now run ok.

That works, but it's verifying the number, says sending SMS to verify and just fails. Phone verification doesn't work either.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to do. This is from the Whatsapp webpage for people having problems with verification:
Please call +1 (650) 332-4931 from the phone number you are trying to sign up with. Our automated system will speak your code back to you. Another way you can complete verification of your number is by sending SMS to +44 7900 347295 from the mobile number you tried to register with for WhatsApp and type your email address ONLY inside of the SMS message. For example: [email protected] (our automated system will send you the code via email once we get your SMS) -- and to make it simple for you

The email thing might help, but the phone number seems to be dead. I'd pay money for the tablet version of the app, it's annoying when your phone is upstairs and you're downstairs you have to go and collect messages.

The solution (probably)
Here's a link of an installition guide for whatsapp on nexus 7 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29234421&postcount=17
the author made everything pretty clear but some extra information wouldn't be bad.
Steps:
1:
To get the code you have to use a phone with whats app and as number you can simply use your landline(or also your mobile number).
2:
Then you let whatsapp call this number so you can note it.
3:
Then you open whatsapp on your nexus 7 and type in the number(the one which was used to create the code) and click ok to verify the number.
The app now wants to text a message or call the number but this wont work, but you already got your code from the previous step.
4:
To enter it you have to hit the 3 dots on the right bottom corner of your device. ( Were you usually open the settings )
A box should now appear and you can type in the code.
Voila,
your Nexus 7 is Whats App ready !!
EDIT: Mobile Numbers should work too but somehow i dont get the code on my iphone 3gs (stupid thing i wont some android )
it would be pretty interesting if i can use the same profile on 2 devices ( mobile number on iphone and nexus 7 )
Hope I could help someone took me some time to find out how step 4 works
I'm german so pls no complaining about my bad english skills
EDIT 2 :
Ok, to use the same account on two devices doesnt seem to work.
It does not work.

Found another way which is easy and worked for me!
Start by following this:
Install Whatsapp apk: http://www.whatsapp.com/android/current/WhatsApp.apk
Install Appguard - details here for the next few steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29234421&postcount=17
Now if you fail verification for both the SMS and Voice methods like I did, and if you don't have a smartphone, the following is an option.
You need: a pc, a mobile phone for texts (an ordinary mobile phone is fine).
1. Download and install Bluestacks on your PC
http://www.bluestacks.com
2. Select "Social" and install Whatsapp on your PC.
3. Input your mobile number. The SMS verification should work this time. Be patient, it can take 10 minutes.
4. Once you have your code go back to your Nexus 7 and input it.
It works!
Any luck?

I managed to solve this by resetting Google Play Services...
Go to System > Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Services
Disable
Uninstall Updates (go ahead with deactivating as Device Manager)
Uninstall updates (again!)
Force Stop
Disable
Clear cache
It takes many steps to disable this thing
Now you can Enable it back.
You should have a Notification saying "App application requires updating google play services", or simply open this link on your device
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms and update
For the following final steps, check the Help pages if you don't want to provide google with too much information
Open the newly updated Google Play Services and enable stuff you need under the Andrdoid Device Manager subsection.
Verify if Location > Access location is enabled...
Hope that works for you, it did for me!

for me too Thx!
After the update to 1.6 the Problem came back but now i cant close Google Play Services because when i want to , it says that it is impossible to Uninstall Play Services because it is an active Device-Administrator..
can anyone confirm this issue or even provide a solution?
thx
I can still locate my device after the upgrade.I also applied the partitioning update, so this may be due my phone losing all its data as part of the upgrade process.
Strangely enough, Play Services is not a Device-Administrator on my phone, nor is asking to be one. Can you revoke Device-Administrator status via Settings>Security>Device administrators?
i did the repartitioning too and now it seems to work

How to make google apps work again after 028s update (no root required/no twrp requir

Hi there,
I saw that a lots of people are having google rh-01 error after they did the ota update so i'm going to show you guys how to make it work again. This tutorial can also help for other problems related to google apps crashing for leeco mobile. Also this tutorial fix the problem of not being able to use the 3 home buttons under your screen since sometimes they got glitched because of play service crashes.
First of all you need to go in
System settings>App management > clear the cache for all the google app we going to delete by going in storage and delete all the google apps, such as :
Google play store
Google play service
Google account manager
Google service framework
And any other app that is crashing because of the 028s update, you can reinstall all of them through the play store after it is working again.
After having it done please reboot your phone and go in the Lestore app which is in chineese but dont worry i will try to show u in picture what to do.
1- Start Lestore app and follow everything i have said in the uploaded pictures of this post or if you have trouble you can do what this guy is doing, it's the same :
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8VU270w99bA
[1bis - between the 3th and 4th picture you can add your google account by going in
System setting > Account > press Add account and press google.].
2- Now you should have everything working again, only one last thing remain , be sure that when you go in :
System setting > App management > Google play service > Permissions > Make sure everything is activated.
System setting> App management > Google play store > Permissions > Make sure everything is activated.
I hope this is going to help you if you guys have any further questions let me know.

What are the practices you talking about ?
If you are talking about the ads added in phone manager with the new release you can disable them by going in
System settings > Press on " Dual sim & mobile network" > press "data management" > press "connection control" > now disable wifi and mobile data for the phone manager app.
Or simply choose to download an app like adguard or adaway or any other similar app to block ads.
LeStore does not connect.
I was able to connect using a china VPN.

It should be possible using this method.

Could you please give some more details on how you managed to do it? I've gotten stuck trying the chat partner / travel essentials way since they will only open but never proceed to anything else than the splash screen...

I have same problem ... plash screen and thats it not going any further
I managed to get further by more closely following the instructions posted by jutley, unfortunately after installing everything successfully I got stuck at the "This device isn't Play Protect certified" even when registering the gsf id
where you able to make chat partners app work ?

No, using the other method with the backup; the link provided by jutley.
It looks like everything is installed correctly but I'm completely blocked by Play Protect. I've tried factory reset to get a new gsf id and registering that as well but no dice. Seems like the id registering just doesn't work?
This method Works : )
I tried this method and it works on my mate xs its in spanish but was easy

english please
can one help us to how to install Google app shown in Spanish YouTube in details in English.
with needed files.
Thanks.
I can try to summarize the steps I think is needed after trying for a couple of days.
(Disclaimer: I haven't actually tried it from scratch but I'm pretty sure these are the only things needed)
(Start at 10. if you already have it working but want to get rid of the errors.)
First get the files from these videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MfxLUNWJr0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEBrOwQP_0o
1. Put the files on a USB stick (Dunno if it is needed, it might be fine to put them on the phone directly)
- (!)The Huawei folder needs to be in the root.
- You'll have 4 important folders, Huawei, Google pack, fix and newfix.
2. Go to Settings/System & updates/Backup & restore/Data backup/External storage/USB storage/17 October 2019 and then press restore.
- Enter the password it asks for (a0000000)
- This will put 2 sketchy apps on your homescreen.
3. Install all apks in the Google pack folder.
4. Run the sketchy app with a purple G and press Activate when it asks you to. Then continue pressing the buttons (really see the video for this) and restart the phone when it fails with the first spinny thing.
- Once restarted you will be spammed with errors, ignore these for now (disable sound, they are super annoying)
5. Revoke the access and uninstall the sketchy apps. It's not needed but I wouldn't leave it enabled for a second longer than I need.
- Go to Settings/Security/More settings/Device administrators and set the G app to inactive.
- Uninstall the G app and the other one as well I assume.
6. Uninstall Google Services Framework.
- Settings/Apps/Apps - search for google and enable Show system processes in the right corner menu.
- I had issues with this on my phone that it would just freeze and restart when I tried it, the solution seemed to be to clear all its data and force stop the proccess until the force stop button stopped being active.
7. Go to the fix folder and install google account manager4.0.3.apk
8. Create your google sync accounts in Settings/Users & accounts/Add an account/Google.
- Follow the instructions as you would for logging in to google.
- (!) Add all the accounts you want to sync now, I can't seem to add them afterwards.
9. Go to the fix folder and install com.google.android.gsf_10-29_minAPI29(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
- Restart and after that everything should work except for a lot of errors everywhere. At this point the fist video tells you to just disable the notifications but it doesn't help for example gmail and you have to do it for every new app you install so it is pretty annoying. The google sync also broke for me after restart.
10. Install the Device ID app from the app store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vtechnotm.com.deviceid&hl=en)
11. Uninstall Google Play services - same procedure as 6.
- To verify that you're on the right path the version you just uninstalled should have been version 19.2.75.
12. From the newfix folder install modagain1gsm.apk.
- This is the Google Play services version 19.4.20.
- Make sure the play store still opens, it might show an error but should preferably still show apps.
13. Reinstall Google Services Framework.
- First repeat step 6.
- Install the file in newfix Google Services Framework-com.google.android.gsf-29-v10.apk
14. Start the Device ID app and verify that you don't have any GSF ID.
15. Poke around in the play store until the Device ID shows a GFS ID, see the video.
- This step feels very unscientific and sometimes it took me forever...
- If it doesn't work make sure you have Google Play services version 19.4.20 installed.
- Don't reboot your phone, it should regenerate the ID just by poking around. I got it regenerated when rebooting but then it didn't work after that.
16. You got the ID generated! Uninstall Google Play services and install the file com.google.android.gms2.apk from the newfix folder.
- Verify that Google Play services is now version 20.12.14.
That's it! Everything should work after this.
I'm pretty confident you can skip some steps here, for example you could install Play services 19.4.20 from the newfix folder already at step 3 to avoid having to reinstall once. But I'm also super unsure why all this actually works so I'm scared to change the procedure
Feel free to suggest corrections!
