Can I change my Chinese G4 H819 to Verizon's G4 VS986? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for the botched title, it should say "Can I change the firmware on my Chinese G4 H819 to Verizon's G4 VS986"
Essentially, they are the same phone. Both run on a CDMA network opposed to GSM. The issue I'm having is that currently, my H819 is missing all of google's essential features. If I switched the firmware to Verizon's VS986 would the phone still run?
If I tried it, what's the worst that could happen? Couldn't I always just switch back to China's firmware if it didn't work?

Flashed H815 marshmallow EU to H815 twn, but no mobile data

So as the title said, I flashed the Marshmallow update on my H815 twn, but its from EU. It would seem that I am not able to connect to mobile data, but in the network settings, when I check, it's on HSPA or LTE at times. Could this be from the being that I used an EU firmware? Or is it carrier related?
Are your APN all right?

Where did you get the kdz file?
yeah, other sim cards seem to work, but mine does not. Is it perhaps the sim itself that has the problem?
I got the KDZ file from xda. Just search for "android 6.0 H815"
sooo firmware region does not affect mobile data connectivity right? I mean, the bands are something related to the hardware, right?

Will flashing Firmware for Indian H818N model on T-Mobile H811 cause any issue?

I got the T-Mobile LG G4 H811 Unlocked from eBay. I am having issues with my 4G sim. Data is working on it. But, Call and messages fail.
I am thinking of flashing Indian firmware to test. can it render it complete dead or reflashing T Mobile Firmware will make it work again?
I am not familiar with LG devices. Above all this is my first LG Flagship device.
Last I had an LG G3 S and it was unlocked Indian version.
Won't work man.Don't do experiment.

Help on G4 H810 AT&T in Europe - can convert to H815?

Hello all,
I bought on ebay a couple of G4 at a good price but I discovered only at the arrival they are H810 and not H815 models. It was stated in the description but I did not understood the difference, so it's my fault.
The main issues are two:
can't update from Android 5.1 to 6 without an AT&T subscription
doesn't support LTE band 20 that is used by my carrier Vodafone Italy so I have almost no 4G coverage
For the first issue I tried the forced FOTA method using ADB: I put the 20N.up file (using the specific AT&T MarshMallow for H810 foung in XDA) in the internal memory but the process does not complete after the reboot saying that the update service is not available
==> The second one is the worst one and I think I need either to enable extra bands or try to convert the phone to a H815, if the modem hardware is the same. I tried the hidden menu but under Field Test->Modem Settings the Band selection is not present!
So I ask to you experts if I can use a flashing tool like LGUP to flash my H810 with an H815 software and how.
Thank you!

AT&T LG G8 - Want to flash stock firmware, possible?

AT&T LG G8 - Want to flash stock firmware, possible? Trying to use it on Google FI and it seems hotpot and many other features aren't working. Phione is paid in full and unlocked. Factory firmware currently.
I want to flash my phone
So you're trying to flash stock on top of stock?
The request is to see if you can flash a bare LG unlocked ROM that comes with factory unlocked phones onto a phone that came with a stock AT&T ROM. The Att phone has now been carrier unlocked, is used on a different network, so the Att specific apps that replaced stock apps no longer work.
I was also wondering if I could do this with my Tmobile G8; unlock the phone, then flash the unlocked LG OS instead of the Tmobile version. My goal is debloat, and to be able to have the original Android hotspot app. Not to mention get rid of that terrible pink, loud, annoying carrier startup splash.
Also, I wonder if security updates would come faster when strait from LG instead of the carrier.

Let me know if you find a debloated is for a T-Mobile g8
Has anyone figured out any method that actually works for just flashing firmware to the g8?
Unlike Samsung phones where you can flash other firmwares via ODIN I don't think this phone has that ability. If you got to the ROM/Development section there are threads where people posted firmwares but no instructions on how to flash.

We can actually cross flash, but we need a modified lg dll to fool lgup into letting us flash any firmware.
I have tried just about everything I can think of to get this thing to flash. I saw some people using lgup v1.15 via the command line but that didn't work either.

I have 2 unlocked sprint lg g8. One of them doesn't have the Sprint splash screens. So somebody was able to do something.

Hello,
I've tried to flash another firmware on an AT&T LM-G820UM10i with LGUP and a firmware found on lg-firmware.
The LGUP restarted the phone in Firmware update mode, then on LGUP, I got an error
Error 0x5319, Not allow to change the device.(ATT_US->OPEN_CA)
So I've unplugged and reboot the phone. Still working.

that just means one of the unit was not activated on Sprint (usually once activated Chameleon then kicks in and adds all the sprint stuff or boost depending on the MVNO)
I have all the necessary data and the LG DLL in the LGUP folder to put any ROM released, I have an LG G8 from AT&T, I am not within the United States but I am afraid that by modifying the ROM (KDZ) they will not work for me some things like 4G or some functions inside the phone, to specify live in Latin America, if someone helps me pass the LGUP data through Google Drive

Because the G8 and all newer LG phones have security measures to prevent cross flashing.
Many bloatware apps can be Disabled in App Info Settings. The rest can be removed with ADB shell "pm uninstall". Google it.
It's best to never ever buy carrier devices. There's a reason they're the ones sold with a discount :cyclops:

The Sprint LG g8 is recognized by lgup when it's on leaked beta. It's possible they haven't built in security measures yet, I'm going to try cross flashing

Question about flashing a stock KDZ rom from a different region

Hi all, I currently have a G7+ with the model number LM-G710EAW. From this site, there's a few EAW's that get the android 10 update, that is the HK, KR, and SEA. To this day, my phone is still on Android 8. Since that the only way to check the phone region via IMEI is now gone, I have to assume that my phone's region is IDN (I bought it in one of Indonesia's domestic store). With that, I have a few questions
1. Is it safe to flash a SEA KDZ to a IDN phone? Is there any possibility of bricking it?
2. What about the baseband compatibility? Can I still use the cellular network?
3. Is there another way to check an LG phone's region?
Thanks in advance!
