Download lollipop RUU, should work with your device.
Have you tried flashing with sd-card?
When did this bootloop first appear?

sorry for late response, I tried the lollipop RUU too
1. with fastboot, it says :02 remote fie is too large
2. via sd card...finding package..opening package....unable to map file
And here is the story of bootloop. my phone was working fine till I received the official lollipop update, which failed repeatedly during installation. I checked the recovery log and found some error in system/bin/flash_camera and decided to flash just recovery image. I flashed recovery and boot image from the ota update I received...but got stuck. then I started trying all these RUU stuff but still no clue. thanks for listening
Ah, okay.
Can you select recovery in hboot and does it start up normally? Have you tried a Kit Kat nandroid backup with twrp?
Ps: you need to delete your imeis in the first post..

yes once stuck on white screen with htc, I need to hold vol up+ power to turn it off and before it reboots automatically I open hboot by vol down+ power. from there I can continue in recovery mode and fastboot etc. no I haven't tried nandroid backup with twrp. I want to get stock rom so that I am able to get updates in future. plus I read twrp backup roms are havng problems like wifi and all.
That sounds like your bootsector is damaged, so usb debugging is disabled.
Did you back up your old recovery.img? The kit kat one before the update?
The easiest way, if you're able to flash a custom recovery, is a clean nandroid backup without root using twrp and once your device is booting again, start from scratch.
Enable usb debugging, unlock bootloader, flash stock recovery, relock bootloader and flash RUU.

no I havent backed up the KitKat factory image
I flashed the latest twrp recovery and booted to it. also I placed a twrp stock backup in sd card ( from one of the threads on this forum) . but when I proceed to backup from sd card, it doesn't appear there, however in the install option I can see the contents I placed..but again I m not getting an option to install it from there. guide me what to do next.

Hi everyone,
I'm stuck, I am trying to restore my HTC One X to stock as I am sending off for repair, however its not working. I've read many tutorials but I'm still not getting anywhere.
I've locked the phone, replaced the recovery.img and replaced the boot.img however the RUU won't install.
My phone is from Australia, Virgin and has the CID of: CID_023
My original Nandroid back-up is gone, so I can't use that.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I might be doing wrong and what information you require to help me?

You must to restore nandroid backup no RRU for nwer base more then 3.14. NOW
1. Install this recovery with command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. download this Nandroid Backup
3. go in recovery mount the sd card and unrar the nandroid backup to your computer after this paste on your SD card in folder Backup
4. flash the boot.img, erase cache, and restor nandroid from recovery.
5. You must to install stock recovery and you are full stock and you can receive OTA

Thank you for your help, so the problem for me was the 3.14 update I had applied. I can't download the file at work, I'll try at home later.
Thant, I want to thank you for your assistance with this problem. Your solution worked, I was able to install the OTA update.
The guides I was following used the RUU as the solution to those without a working Nandroid back up of their own, I wasn't aware that 3.14 or newer could be a problem for that. It is a shame out of date guides are not removed or updated.
I had seen people upload nandroid backups, but I didn't trust those. I decided to take a chance with yours and it worked for me.
My info now states:

Okay I'm going crazy SuperSU is on my phone and I can't get rid of it. I couldn't uninstall it, so I re-rooted the phone, installed custom recovery, installed SuperSU binaries then tried to uninstall. But every reboot reinstalls the application. Argh!!!
Any help with this?
Okay fixed the SuperSU problem, unfortunately the Nadroid backup supplied was not a stock image, still worked though when I did a factory reset, restored nandroid backup, install SU binaries, uninstalled SuperSU from OS, restored recovery, locked OEM, downloaded OTA and installed it.
So it all looks good except the recovery option comes up with an image of a phone and a large red exclamation mark, I assume this means the recovery.img doesn't match. Is there a way to fix this as I'd like my phone repaired?
Thank you
-EDIT-
Okay, I've done some more reading and learnt a little more, which is great.
I believe I need recovery.img for 4.19.728.3, so that will match the software on my phone. I've tried stock recovery for 4.19.707.3 but that didn't work.
I wonder if I should downgrade everything. Say downgrade HBOOT to 1.39, then install stock software of 4.18 and removing SuperSU, then flash stock recovery, lock the phone and attempt a OTA update to update everything. I'm assuming an OTA update would update HBOOT to 1.73, the software to 4.19 and the recovery will also be updated to work. Is this a good solution perhaps?

if you are on 3.17.728.x you need stock rom not rooted and stock recovery 3.17.728.x maybe you can try with stock recovery 4.19.728.x

Hey there,
i have a strage problem, after rooting a lot of android devices the m8 behaves kind of strange.
I got a brand new M8 (Hbot 3.15xxxx and 4.4.2) for my girl friend and unlocked the device with htc dev. after this i flashed twrp 2.7.0.2, no big deal.
Now i made a backup (thank god....) and downloaded viper rom and arhd roms.
But if i install a rom (does not matter which one, with wipe and so on) the script tells me installtion is finished, but if i hit the next button the m8 vibrates and turns off, at least the screen goes dark.
the only way to wake up the m8 is to push power and volume up button, but the only thing i see is the htc logo with the red text at the buttom.
adb reboot boatloader does not work, but reboot recocery does. Wipen cache and so does not fix the problem, the stock backup can be restored.
do you have any idea what's going on, i really want to run viper or arhd on the m8.
thanks!

Just a bug in TWRP, nothing to worry about. Disable from TWRP the screen timeout and you are good to go.

i don't think thats the problem. if the screen would timeout (like while doing backup or restore) i could wake it up.
but the device is not booting anymore then. Even if i do a adb reboot recovery and make a clean reboot. Just the htc logo with the warning.
could it be the firmware ? i dont see any information for hboot 3.15.....
thanks

Well nothing strange here. You are on older firmware trying to flash a 4.4.3 ROM. First boot might take up to 15 minutes...But after that you will experience slow boots and/or wifi or bt issues.
You can either try to s-off and upgrade firmware or try a 4.4.2 rom like ARHD 8.1
First of all try the following. Flash the ROM and reboot and let it sit there for around 15 minutes to see if it boots. And we can see your choices from there.
If i want to update with OTA,
which stock recovery i need to flash ? my version.main is empty :/ so i am not sure how to flash the right recovery. there a lots of them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

it's either 1.12.111.18 or 1.57.111.2
it is 1.12.111.18
at the moment the OTA to 1.57.111.2 is running
some german forums wrote that any 1.12.xxx recovery will work for the ota. let's see if there is another ota after this one.

Hi guys, I'm having a really big problem because I need to use my phone today but i messed up something.
First i have s-on, installed twrp 2.8, and flashed arhd 34.0 everything worked fine but i had problems with my wifi because of the 4.4.4 firmware on my phone. So i wanted to flash the new firmware but because i was s-on i couldnt do it, so i locked my bootloader and tried again. Now my phone boots only in bootloader and i don't know what to do. Someone please help! :crying:

Your first problem here is relocked bootloader. Do you still have custom recovery installed ? Have you try to restore your stock ROM ?
When you mentioned you tried to flash firmware, which firmware version no. ? You fastboot getvar all show you have firmware 3.28.401.9 installed.

There is a problem. I don't have the previous bin file because I bought it second hand. I tried although to unlock it in the htcdev site but it fails.
When on bootloader then press power once to hboot then select recovery, it goes back to bootloader ?
I don't have further idea as the bootloader is locked, except if you don't mind losing everything on your internal storage as this will make your device like a new device out from the box is to use the RUU zip. You need an external sdcard.
Download the RUU zip from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-european-signed-ruu-0p6bimg-t2911563
Or the lollipop one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58457494&postcount=375
rename the zip to 0P6BIMG.zip and put it on external sdcard
boot to bootloader, press power once to hboot, it will ask you to install or not.

rename the zip to 0P6BIMG.zip and put it on external sdcard
boot to bootloader, press power once to hboot, it will ask you to install or not.

Yes, i get back to bootloader when i select recovery.
I don't mind to lose my data, just get my phone back working
So I'm gonna try this out. It should by itself popup to ask me to install? By external sd card i guess you mean a microsd which i have. Should that zip file be the only file there or can I put it in with other files?
Yes... it will pop-up when you select hboot then press power up to install.
external_sdcard is the microsd. No problem to put it with other files, correct naming is important and put in root of microsd not in folder

Many thanks bro, I'll post here later if I got everything working.

I don't have further idea as the bootloader is locked, except if you don't mind losing everything on your internal storage as this will make your device like a new device out from the box is to use the RUU zip. You need an external sdcard.

Sent from my HTC One_M8
Hello everyone,
My friend has tried to get into the rooting scene and without proper knowledge he managed to get himself stuck on the boot screen.
I offered him my help, since I thought that this would be an easy fix because the phone still has access to the TWRP recovery.
What I didn't know is that the phone was branded and S-on. The CID is: VODAPE17.
ADB works in recovery mod !
To sum it up:
CID: VODAPE17
The bootloader is unlocked
S-on
Acces to custom recovery
no backup
adb works
fastboot works
What I have tried:
I tried to get the device S-off with HTC dev. But it required me to boot up the phone, so that didn't work out.
I have found a nand backup that should work with this CID on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376&page=5
This one: 3.29.161.9 - TWRP Thanks to Petert87 (what does that number: 3.29.1619 mean?)
I unpacked the file. Send it to the internal storage and renamed it to a backup that I had made myself (otherwise TWRP wouldn't recognize it?).
After wiping I restored the backup, but to my surprise the phone still was stuck on the HTC one logo when I tried to boot it!
I tried to get as much information from the phone as possible.
This is what I got:
version: 0.5
version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
version-baseband: 1.25.214500021.06G
version-cpld: None
version-microp: None

My question
Can anyone help me to get this phone running again? I don't really know what to do anymore.
Every bit of help is appreciated very much! :good:
Thank you in advance!
Sietse
After flashing countless amounts of customs roms I still don't make any progress.
I have even tried to flash the boot.img of a custom rom separately with fastboot but that didn't work either.
Something is preventing this phone from booting, but I don't know what
Does anyone have idea's? They will be greatly appreaciated!
Download and install latest TWRP from their website, not playstore. Do full wipe including system, then format data typing yes to confirm. Download compatible ROM to extSD, mount extSD in TWRP and install from extSD. That's what I would try. Your firmware looks up to date..

Agree, this is very important. Some older versions of TWRP won't work with the current hboot. You can drive yourself crazy flashing a hundred ROMs, and it still won't work.
Same issue here. Latest firmware. S-ON. Every custom ROM causes a boot loop. Luckily I had a nandroid of stock ROM (5.0.1) so I can always go back to stock.

As already stated by myself and another, make sure TWRP is up to date (2.8.7). Outdated TWRP is the most common cause for many ROMs bootlooping.
Hi all,
I have installed the rom GPE with this cid and mid, S-off but i lost my carrier, sim is no unlocked. Then i try to back to stock rom. The big mistake i have do is to do no backup of my original CID and MID. So during 3 mouths i had try all solutions that i see on the web ex :
Fashing splash firmware : 1.54.401.5 with stock rom but the phone always stuck on bootloader
Then i try 1.54.401.10 , 4.16.401.5 , 4.16.401.10 and last 2.22.401.4 with there rom stock and sotck recovery but nothing change, always stuck on bootloader.
NB : i'm in super CID
I have try :
1) wirecid : supercid or HTC__001 or HTC__J15 etc...
2) Flashing firmware 1.54.401.5, 1.54.401.10, 4.16.401.5, 4.16.401.10, 2.22.401.4
3) flashing custom recovery twrp
4) format data and changing partition cache because it's always corruped after flashing new firmware
5) install rom stock with there firmware :
0P6BIMG_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Radio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_417809_signed.zip

6) reboot phone, but stuck on bootloader
7) try to flash boot.img and stock recovery on the firmware but nothing change,
8) try to enter to stock recovery but redirected in bootloader
9) try to lock bootloader
I have do this with all firmware and rom
I have try to install with ruu.exe but the application have error 155, i have change the cid and mid to match with in the androidinfo.txt.
!!! But boot with custom like CM12, Carbon rom etc... the only problem is that the simcard is not detected.
If anyone have other solution ?

Your device is a Sprint .. you shouldn't convert it to any Intl GSM/GPE. You shouldn't change its MID.
Not sure whether this is still fixable because on Verizon I know, this conversion will kill the radio.
Change back your MID to 0P6B70000
and get the correct firmware and RUU here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
Anything you're not sure, ask in that thread or in Sprint Q&A
Hold Power + Volume Up for at-least 20secs and when screen turns black, release the buttons and hold Volume Down until you enter bootloader... which is mainly couple of seconds.

The OP is already in bootloader, and stuck there.
CID Numbers (Sprint only):
SPCS_001: standard Sprint M8
SPCS_004: Harman/Kardon version M8
I would try to rewrite the correct cid--> Update Hboot to 3.19-->Relock Bootloader-->Flash latest Ruu

Tho latest Ruu should already contain the 3.19 Hboot

In addition to your comment, that hboot does not need to be updated before RUU (RUU will do it):
1) Need to change MID back to Sprint MID to RUU
2) Shouldn't need to change CID, but it doesn't hurt to do so.
3) No need to relock bootloader to RUU, since OP is s-off.
But I agree, the OP should try to RUU back to Sprint stock image. (and obviously take the actions to meet the requirements to do so). After that, if is still doesn't work its probably a radio brick.

Error 155 is usually fixed by relocking Bootloader. Since the phone is in a funny state I would advise putting all chances on your side. Dont worry if the logic says S-off doesnt need BL relocked , you just need every chance to flash Stock ruu back to the phone
Thanks, i will try it...
So, if it's work i can unlock the phone to use another operator ?

Boot Loader Loop, Unlocked, S-Off, Rooted HTC M8 Tmobile
A year ago I believe I used HBoot and or Firewater to root my M8. I recently removed some applications that seemed to make my phone act funny, and now the phone is stuck in a boot loop, or rather just a boot and stop at the second HTC "One" screen. Not exactly a loop.
I've download ADB tool and tried the fastboot method to install TWRP but have no success because the computer does not recognize the phone while running ADB or Fastboot, therefore I cant install TWRP and am stuck in the bootloader menu. I have tried various different cables and restarted the pc several times, and installed htc sync and other drivers necessary for that process. Also uninstalled and installed different drivers later as well. Now im not sure what i have installed but I have access to the phones internal drive via explorer.
Using Hboot.

Recovery leads to nothing and eventually returns to the HTC One menu stop.
Reset does nothing, acts like fast boot actually.
Ramdump under fastboot seems to works, and does produce log files.
While the phone was still active, I managed to create a full "manual" backup of the device by plugging it in and backing up/copying the entire internal memory. After screwing with the phone and every option for several hours I managed to access the files of the internal memory by switching to recovery mode via the boot menu and then plugging in the phone via usb to comp while deleting the drivers at the same time. I tried a full restoration of the internal backup i made, by copy and replace if the same method, but still nothing.
Ive attached an image of the Hboot menu with the details and options of that Hboot for those of you familiar with hboot.
The ideal situation, or what i'd like to do is restore the phone without flashing the rom and loosing the information, then id like to upgrade to lollipop or a new custom rom I found here actually, but the first step is getting back into the phone which i would be very grateful for in general.
also, not great with cmd and all that stuff, I do have sdk tools downloaded and installed but not great with that either. If there was a more simple way to replace existing files in the phone via the file manager (because im able to access the internal drive via the file manager, that would be the most ideal and easiest situation. But knowing the path and the boot files and which files are necessary for boot is what im looking for as well.
Also i know how to flash a sd and htc has a sdcard slot as well. Also i should mention that prior to the phone being screwed up I did want to delete some internal certificates because i believe someone installed a spy application on the phone, hence the reason for all of this checkup and removal anyway. In the process of trying to do that, i followed a tutorial on this forum which suggested I create a security lock pin, which I did. This could also be the cause of the problem not being recognized by the adb or fastboot script.
Who ever helps me do that gets a tip.
Please help.
