Nexus 5x battery calibration issue - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

guys are you facing any battery calibration issues with your Nexus 5x? I'm on Chroma ROM + Elemental X, and the issue is that battery percentage gets sometimes stuck at a certain percentage for some long time, then suddenly it goes down by 2% in a second!
Example: 70% of battery, it stays at 70% for around 6 or 7 minutes, then while still looking at battery percentage, it goes down to 68% instead of 69%
Is this a known issue? I've already drained my battery to 0% until the phone turned off and charged it to 100% while turned off (repeated it twice as I followed a guide I found on calibrating battery).

Admins can you please remove this thread? I resolved the issue

Sure thing
I discharged my battery to 0% until the phone turned off, then charged it to 100% while the phone is still turned off
I calibrated the battery using Battery Calibration app from the Play Store (needs root though, if you don't have root you can skip this step)
I discharged the battery again to 0% and charged it again to 100% just like the first step
And that's it, now the battery percentage drains normally

Which app exactly??do i need root for calibration?

Should I calibrate my battery?

Lately my phone will go through a massive drain until it hits around 55% then it will drain normally. I have not changed anything since this started. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I may need to calibrate my battery.

That sounds like a good idea for your situation.

Thanks for your input. I want to wait a few days before I do it. So it will give it time to see if that really is the problem. This only happened yesterday and today so maybe tomorrow will be better. Besides the only time I really have to do it is later this week.

How does one calibrate a battery? Is this the same thing as "conditioning?"

You charge your battery to 100%, wipe batterystats.bin, then run the battery down to 0%, then charge uninterrupted back up to 100%
Battery Calibration does it help ?
I have a similar situation and i followed the battery re-calibration method too but still didnt help.
Situation - The battery would charge till 88% but will show its fully charged. Recently put Vivokat so now its even more prominent. Every reboot drops the battery by steps, like i would reboot and the battery would go from 80 to 65 just like that, no gradual decline or anything. And even after a full charge (the green light indicator is on) still the battery would continue charging.
Tried - I tried resetting the batterystats.bin file as suggested, fully charged till 100% then removed batterystats.bin file then allowed to discharge all the way then charged continuously till 100%. No outcome
Anything else that can be done ?

Mugen 4500 mAh battery not showing proper stats

Dear all, somehow I am experiencing an odd behavior with the battery stats.
Once the battery stat reaches 1%, the phone still remains on for maybe another 15-20min of use until it goes off. Is there anything wrong with the battery, my settings or not proper calibration?

UPDATE:
Since my first post on 1% battery my note is still running. Playing music all time with switched off screen.....
Really strange behavior
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Just a calibration issue I would think. Try resetting the battery data in recovery and also use Battery Monitor Widget to further calibrate it.

i was having similar problems with mine, i tried turning the phone off, removing the battery and then restarting the phone and charging to a full.....that somehow fixed the issue for me....and also as described above use a battery monitor widget for correct stats.
Did you discharge the battery fully first?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
not fully, about 20% charge was left in it, but i guess it doesnt matter as long as you take the battery out and then recharge it back for a good 12 hours or so- supposidly longer charge cycles = more accurate stats.

Battery life number jump problem

Anyone have this problem?
My battery is below 15% there is a pop up. After few mins..about 1 or 2mins when it reaches 13% it jump to 1% and have the 1% pop up and then shut down.
Anyone have this problem?
Isit something to do with the values in system?
By rooting or flashing new ROM does it fixed the problem?
I on ics...not rooted

You could try getting root, and wiping battery stats in CWM.

Never did I encounter that kind of problem. Anyway, my ION is just 9 days old as of now and I know that batteries has to go through a series of charge and discharge cycles before you can get its optimum performance.
What I did was insanely used my ION until its get to 5% of battery power left then charged it, I did that for a week. What I did on the eight day was quite different. When the battery reached 5% of its remaining power, I turned the unit OFF. Plugged in the wall charger then turned the unit ON. In this case, the operating system won't boot up. You'll just see an animated battery that tells you that it’s charging and left my ION on that state for 12 straight hours. Aside from that installed this little app and configured it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobo.task.killer
Now, after eight hours of moderate usage I still got 80% of battery power remaining. Though Wi-fi is only turned on during manual sync. Bluetooth turned off since I despise bluetooth devices. NFC turned on only when needed. Brightness is always at the lowest level and only maxed out if needed.
You may not get the same results but I hope this helps.

Xperia Arc Battery Issue (Official ICS ROM)

From the past one month or so I am having this weird issue with my phone's battery. The battery drops straight from 20% to 1% and the phone switches off. This last time, I connected the charger before the phone switched off ( a matter of few seconds ) and the battery jumped straight to 21%. Is my battery terminally damaged or is it a software issue? I have attached a screenshot of the battery discharge graph available in settings menu.
Also, I faced the insufficient memory problem and I have repaired the phone about 2 months back using PC companion to ICS 4.0.4. I have been using the phone for about 15 months as of today.
Thanks.
hmmm maybe you charge your phone from pc? if you do this the battery will never get fully charged really...that i can say from my personal experiance.
By the way just charge the phone as much you can also let it charge on 100% and reboot it(battery lvl must go lower than 100) do this till you get a reboot with 100%...
If those do not help your battery is damaged you maybe have banding issues,3g/wrong baseband, forground apps? maybe a combo of all this.
Had the same issue, cured after repairing on SEUS.
Quite a fluctuate on the graph.

Maybe try to recalibrate battery!
Same issue, on mk16a. The battery is weird, if I leave CWM running it last for more than one hour, but androids jumps from 20% 1% or 0% suddenly. Also when booting again (after the shutdown) it's reports 20% but again it drops...
I'm on CM10 but i think this happens also on stock ICS.
Battery calibration don't work...tested it 2 times
Any hints?

Battery can not be fully charged - 8.4

I left my 8.4 charged with the wall charger over night, in the morning I found it's only 94% full, this happened multiple times, and I also tried another wall charger it still happened. The battery chart shows it stopped at 94% (some times 95%) and never went up. Does anybody has the same problem? Is there anything wrong with the battery? BTW, the battery life is not good for me, screen on for only 5-6 hrs on about 30% brightness.

stock rom, not rooted. I doubt it's caused by any app, if in that case the battery should still be fully charged then go down, but it's not what I saw.

Yes that's exactly the same as mine. I contacted Samsung support and they suggested to do a factory reset to see if it's a problem about software, otherwise I'll need to file a service request.
This happens all the time. If I reboot the tab will then show 100%.

Let it run down to 10% then recharge. do this a couple cycles. You could also try a battery calibration app that wipes the stats and starts fresh.
Solved my issue a while back.
A restart used to fix my issue but now the tab will say it's 100% charged and then at some point drop 10 or even 40% randomly.
Something is definitely wrong with the battery on this thing.
it's not the battery, but the reporting statistics used that is bugging out.

Is there any way to fix this? If it's fully charged then it should show 100%.
I have the same issue, read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215182
I found the problem has become worse and worse, sometimes it just stopped at 30~40%, then I said "f*** it", opened the back cover, pulled the battery out and put it back, reboot. Left it charged during the night. The next morning I found it charged to 100% !! Will post back if it really solved the issue after some more cycles.

I simply let the battery drain to around 20% and then charged it fully. Ever since (1.5 months ago), it has been reporting accurate battery %.

But the problem was the battery could not be charged to 100%, even if I left it charged over night, in the morning it showed 30%.
Mine works 100% perfect on ND3..
I have tried to make it do somthing weird..
I can't see anything in the ROM coding so far that would cause this..
So over a week later and my battery has been perfect.. Stock rooted nai....
4hrs 40 mins of screen on too..
Hi. I dont know if anyone is still on this post but i have this device and ive had this problem for the last year. It would get so bad with all the discharges that my battery died. I bought another battery and replaced it. I still got -300ma when connected to a 1A chaarger. So i replaced the flexi usb port membrane in hopes that would do it but i only got to 100mA. I bought a 2.4A charger and the tab doesnt even recognize the charger is in. Cant really turn it for service because I rooted it so my warranty is void. Any commentary and opinion would be greatly appreciated.:good:
