Battery life number jump problem - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Anyone have this problem?
My battery is below 15% there is a pop up. After few mins..about 1 or 2mins when it reaches 13% it jump to 1% and have the 1% pop up and then shut down.
Anyone have this problem?
Isit something to do with the values in system?
By rooting or flashing new ROM does it fixed the problem?
I on ics...not rooted

You could try getting root, and wiping battery stats in CWM.

Never did I encounter that kind of problem. Anyway, my ION is just 9 days old as of now and I know that batteries has to go through a series of charge and discharge cycles before you can get its optimum performance.
What I did was insanely used my ION until its get to 5% of battery power left then charged it, I did that for a week. What I did on the eight day was quite different. When the battery reached 5% of its remaining power, I turned the unit OFF. Plugged in the wall charger then turned the unit ON. In this case, the operating system won't boot up. You'll just see an animated battery that tells you that it’s charging and left my ION on that state for 12 straight hours. Aside from that installed this little app and configured it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobo.task.killer
Now, after eight hours of moderate usage I still got 80% of battery power remaining. Though Wi-fi is only turned on during manual sync. Bluetooth turned off since I despise bluetooth devices. NFC turned on only when needed. Brightness is always at the lowest level and only maxed out if needed.
You may not get the same results but I hope this helps.

Are you on stock? You are not using quick boot are you? That is a known bug in that app.
I am on SRF 1.1.1 and when I switched over I did the battery calibration where you charge while on (always to 100%), unplug, charge while off, unplug, charge while on, unplug and then wipe battery stats. I then downloaded and ran the battery calibration tool, ran my battery out and charged to full. It's a monster now. I can really say I'm one of those people who wandered around for an hour randomly doing things and checking my phone as usual and where I would have normally been at 94%, which is fine life after an hour, it just turned to 99% at the 1 hour point. I will keep watching to see if performance is better at first and wanes or what.

Where did you get this battery calibration tool? The market?
I think his issue is the big percentage changes upon reboot which is a bug and not an actual percentage drop. It was especially noted with Quick Boot.

Sure, but if he stops using reboot and calibrates his battery settings, won't that fix things?
Edit: poor terminology

Yes. But he hasn't come back to confirm or deny this is what he is doing. Not even sure if he is rooted or not. Thanks on the Nema tip. Gonna download it now.
Yeah that app is awesome. I use it all the time.

No I don't use quickboot or any special app to get to recovery....my battery life n percentages are messed up n I am trying to find the best way to calibrate my battery....I'm currently running srf with cwn 3.0.0.6 with ext4...everything else is normal but my battery life is horrible

Im havng the same exact problem, i power down and back on and the percentage drops drasticly. Im on SRF 1.1.0.
Follow my post exactly. I don't know which battery calibration kicked the weirdness, but it's totally stable now.

The hardest part is finding what will tun out the battery fastest. I suggest flashlight screen on bright blue with pandora, tunein, and mlb running a live game.

Don't count a reboot and a major change in percentage as horrible battery life. I have been getting that recently because I beta test and when it drops like 40% on a reboot I power down, plug it into a charger, it goes back to where it should be, then I power back on and it is back at the level before the reboot. It is a bug somewhere. As for your normal usage, how many hours do you get on a full charge without any reboots? Users report anywhere from 10 hours to 18 hours with some usage (of course there are a few extraordinary cases out there).

If I use like the poweruser I am...it lasts about 4 to 5 hours
..that's continuously playing music with my screen off...n sometimes playing a gameloft game or PES 2011 for 15 mins and checking engadget every 20 mins or so( no Widgets btw)...when I play music for an hour with the screen off, I get atleast a 6% drain....it used to to be 3% drain or less the first time I got the phone (a week and half ago)...I am just trying to get the best life out of my battery

Are you streaming music or playing mp3s stored on the phone? If you are streaming and the 3G or 4G keeps dropping out it will kill your battery constantly reconnecting.

Xperia Arc Battery Issue (Official ICS ROM)

From the past one month or so I am having this weird issue with my phone's battery. The battery drops straight from 20% to 1% and the phone switches off. This last time, I connected the charger before the phone switched off ( a matter of few seconds ) and the battery jumped straight to 21%. Is my battery terminally damaged or is it a software issue? I have attached a screenshot of the battery discharge graph available in settings menu.
Also, I faced the insufficient memory problem and I have repaired the phone about 2 months back using PC companion to ICS 4.0.4. I have been using the phone for about 15 months as of today.
Thanks.
hmmm maybe you charge your phone from pc? if you do this the battery will never get fully charged really...that i can say from my personal experiance.
By the way just charge the phone as much you can also let it charge on 100% and reboot it(battery lvl must go lower than 100) do this till you get a reboot with 100%...
If those do not help your battery is damaged you maybe have banding issues,3g/wrong baseband, forground apps? maybe a combo of all this.
Had the same issue, cured after repairing on SEUS.
Quite a fluctuate on the graph.

Maybe try to recalibrate battery!
Same issue, on mk16a. The battery is weird, if I leave CWM running it last for more than one hour, but androids jumps from 20% 1% or 0% suddenly. Also when booting again (after the shutdown) it's reports 20% but again it drops...
I'm on CM10 but i think this happens also on stock ICS.
Battery calibration don't work...tested it 2 times
Any hints?

20 minutes at 100% charge.

Hello everyone,
I observed a strange behavior of my arc s , when the phone reaches 100% charge and later when i unplug it my phone spends almost 20 minutes at this point and after some time it starts to discharge ie. it comes down by 1%.
But if i use it hear after it discharges rapidly.
I find this behavior very odd !
Can anyone explain me this behavior ???
Thank you in advance.

Check battery use
Check battery use to see what is consuming the battery
Maybe WIFI and sleep policy,Bluetooth,Network type WCDMA/GSM ,GPS and accounts sync ?
Observe the diagram or the slope in the battery use to see is your battery draining fast or is it normal, also what rom and kernel are you using
Isn't that the normal behaviour of a battery coming from a smartphone? .-. Mine's like.. 20 minutes on 100% before starting going down, and it doesn't affect my overall battery life at all..

I have observed all of that.
Everything is fine, as the display uses the battery predominantly.
My guess is that is a sign for use to change the battery.
And also i see spikes in chart instead of going down the charge goes up and down.
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app
how old is the battery?
how old is the battery ?if the spike goes up that means it is connected to USB and the phone is charging .attached is my battery usage 7 % in 11 hours the slope is continuously going down as it's been unplugged and running on battery only ,phone and battery are a year and half old
The "spikes" you refer to are because your battery isnt well calibrated...
You can charge it fully, use it and when its around 5% charge it again to full. And if you delete the battery stats your battery must sette down over some day or two.
But for a better response you need to upload a picture of your battery stats.
My battery sometimes stays in 100% some minutes, some other times is goes down to 99 very quicky, but its normal for me cause it usually lengths for two days + with normal use

Yes i totally agree the oly time the graph should go up is when its plugged in and not wen unplugged.
But i sometimes see the spikes when unplugged.
Nevertheless it has not degraded the performance.

[Q] Battery drop after reboot?

I've been experiencing huge battery drops (from 10% up to 20%) after I reboot my phone. Is this a KitKat issue or is it my battery?
In the morning from 99% (after checking a few messages in the morning), I rebooted and I dropped 11% to 88%.
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one. :good:
I didnt found it on reboots, but i have this problem when i enter recovery. 20 minutes in recovery - i dont hace 20% of battery.

Hmmm that's strange.
I've noticed it usually drops more when I leave my headphones in.
full loaded ACE 2.
reboot cost u 5%
first 10 % gone in a few minutes for heavy users and in a few hours when deepsleep !!
what i wanna say.
the first 10 % gone in a few.
after that normal drain.
I often get this, although not as bad. I usually lose 2-5% on a reboot, sometimes up to 10%. The other week I charged it to 100% when it was off, turned it on and had 92%.
so is this actually a problem or is it normal for everyone?. Mine looses 5-8% in the first couple of minutes after I unplug the charger..
It's normal.

Its normal. I usually lose the first 5% of a full charge in a couple of minutes. After it gets to 95%, battery charge will drain normally depending on usage.

ok then, thanks...I just thought that this didn;t happen when I was on GB, but it doesn;t matter anyway..
If I reboot once, I will lose between 5 - 10% battery. However, if I reboot straight after the first reboot, I will lose between 0 - 2% battery. I've never really understood this.

Battery Charging Issue
Is this normal?
When I charge my battery whether it be from mains or USB computer it charges ok, but as soon as it gets to 100% it still says charging for a little time and doesn't report the unplug charger message right away.
With the Jellybean 4.1.2 system I don't get the alert tone when the battery reaches FULL, therefore I have a feeling that when it still says charging even though it's showing 100% that it's actually decreasing power at that point, any help please?
I have tried other batteries, and one in particular goes from 90% right up to 100% and seems to miss that last 10 percent, so I don't use that one now.
I have the most current firmware installed.
Buy a new one

when it says 100%, you still have to wait for a few minutes before it displays the green "full" icon in the upper left corner and asks you to disconnect the charger.
However, the first 5-8% always drains REALLY fast and not proportionally to the rest of the battery drain...
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one.

what about the initial drain? does the first 10% still drop fast or has this changed too with the new battery?
I just wish that JellyBean 4.1.2 would give an alert sound when the battery has reached it's full limit like Gingerbread used to do.
Who would be the best place to ask them to do this on their next update?
But I think that it does..a very short one indeed, but it does, along with the screen lighting up briefly..

Battery issue.

Hello everyone.
Past couple of weeks I have been having issues with my phone battery. No matter how much battery I have left when ever I play some game or edit photos my phone will all of sudden drop from 70%(or any given point) to 0% and switch off. At first I thought my battery was not calibrated so I drain to 0 and charge to 100 while it is off for couple of times but problem still occurs. Also when this happen my phone charge only upto 80% and stop charging until I unplug and plug back in order for it to charge100%.
Is there a way to fix it and how could I check if my battery is bad?

First, battery calibration is basically a placebo. It does nothing nowadays.
The whole thing about waiting a few days after installing a new rom or firmware so that the battery can "settle down" is real though, but is only because the new firmware will be doing a lot of background stuff and thus drain the battery more than usual.
Second, the only way to tell if your battery is bad is to try a new one. Unfortunately.
Based on your symptoms though, your battery is DEFINITELY bad. I'd recommend either sending the battery out for warranty, or buying a new one. Or both- you'll end up with 2 new batteries that you can swap out if you're a heavy user.
FYI Warning- apps that claim to scan and repair your battery are scams. There is no way to scan your battery. It isn't a harddrive.
Just thought I should warn you before you get desperate.

Been having similar issues with mine as well. My phone will show about 20% or more left in it, but then the phone ships down as if it was completely drained. When I plug it in, it will show the battery is dead. Also, like a little whole ago, it showed 25% left, but when I plugged it in, it went to 12%. It also continued to drop even while plugged in and showing it was charging. I did a battery pull, cleared the cache, then rebooted. It showed 18%, but only 23 minutes left to full charge. I did another battery pull, and it now shows 1 hour and 43 minutes left to full charge.
Like you, this has been going on for a few weeks now off & on.
I had problems a little while back (not as bad as these). Mine would die with the percent showing around 5-8% remaining. I took the battery out, held the power button for about 30 seconds, then continued normal use. I read somewhere that doing this somehow helps. I don't know if it's true or not, but now my phone doesn't die until it hits 0%, so something did change.
