Hey i tried the *#197328640# unlock method, works fine the first time i put my simcard and use it, i change sim card and works now the third time doesnt, now my phone wont read simcard anymore, sometimes works, i have 2 simcard AT&T and Claro... also i have another T999 with the same problem
I've tried unlocking my AT&T Galaxy Note 2 using service mode. I downgraded the phones modem to the 4.1.1 version and it worked. I used my metroPCS sim card and the phone did not ask for the code but it said phone not allowed MM#6. When I try to call someone it says emergency calls only. I was wondering if it is because the phone is still under contract or because I'm supposed to use a blank sim card and not one thats already been used. Please help.
[SOLVED] I put my phone in airplane mode and my IMEI/Baseband came back, cheking the service menu I went to *#2263# and saw that "LTE Preference" was enabled. I clicked on Automatic and problem fixed. Probably a ROM bug? Who knows.
Hello there. I've been a reader of the XDA forums for some time but I never had any reason to create an account to post on the forums.
A few weeks ago I got a SGH-M919 as a gift, the phone only had a few months of use and I took it with me, everything worked fine except for the fact that I couldn't get 3G/4G (Not even EDGE), I was only able to connect to the GPRS network and I couldn't change the carrier (It always gave errors like "Unable to connect. Try later" and such). Although the phone is (apparently) quadband (I don't live in the US), it just didn't work but I lived with it.
Yesterday my phone was low on battery and I turned it off, a few hours later I turned it back on and it couldn't connect to the network, I went to the network options and once I pressed the screen to enter the Mobile Network options, I got an alert saying that I must have a SIM to access those option. At first I thought that the SIM got damaged somehow (This isn't the case since it works perfectly fine in another phone) but after a few minutes looking around, I checked the IMEI and instead of the usual number, I got a null/null message. My first reaction was to google what exactly happened and the answer I received was that the Baseband (Which is also Unknown) and IMEI are stored in a folder called EFS and that it got corrupted. Sweet. I looked for solutions but the main two I got (EFS Pro and ADB nvrestore) require a backup of the EFS (Which I don't have).
The other solution I got was to restore to the stock ROM (M919UVUFNH7) which I'm currently downloading from SamMobile (Sorry if this is considered spam). The phone is not rooted and has the stock ROM, it came with a CWM folder inside the internal memory with an .img file but it doesn't have CWM intalled. I've never upgraded it (Not sure if it came with that firmware from the store if it matters).
I live pretty much in what can be considered a "3rd world country". So I cannot send it to Samsung nor I have access to dollars.
Another question is, the phone was gifted to me already unlocked, I don't know if it came unlocked from the original carrier or if it was unlocked via a code or whatever. If I restore to the stock will it lock my phone to T-Mobile again? Would I be able to use it without a SIM card if it gets locked? It's impossible for me to get a T-Mobile SIM on my hands should I ever need one. In the worst case scenario that my phone gets locked, can I get it unlocked by flashing a custom ROM?
I have so many newbie questions that are already answered in other threads, but since it's a lot of information I want to get it as specific as possible to avoid breaking my phone.
If someone can help me with this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
i having same issue in M919
Do you guys get a message in notification bar about sim car removed or something about a sim card? Also, it doesn't matter if the sim card works in another phone. This device has a little issue with being picky with sim cards. If it's a cut sim card, get an original micro sim card

Hi, thanks for answering. I don't get a message about a removed SIM card. I'm also using an original micro SIM.
I already downloaded the Stock ROM but I haven't flashed it yet.

This is a known bug of the s4. It is a hardware problem and I have yet to find a solution. If you google it you will find many threads on different forums addressing this issue. Again, no known solution
Any answer/idea about my issue? . Sometimes I can access Mobile Network Options, sometimes I can't. I can't configure the APNs (They delete themselves after I click on save). Phone Serial Number didn't get deleted (Which is stored inside the EFS folder as far as I know). I also can't select a Network Mode. I click on GSM/WCDMA/LTE but it changes automatically to nothing.

That's what I said? One solution is to change sim cards if using a cut sim card to use an original micro sim. It's worked for a friend if someone I know and also for others on XDA. It's not the solution, but works for some

I would get a new sim anyway if I could. Flashing stock firmware wouldn't hurt as well

Before trying to flash it, is there any risk of getting simlocked again? I wouldn't want to get my IMEI fixed just to realize that my phone is locked to TMB again
UPDATE 1: My IMEI and Baseband randomly got back (My IMEISV was still missing) but after I restarted, they got deleted again.
UPDATE 2: Rooted, went to EFS, didn't find nv_data.
I updated the stock T889v modem to i317M modem a while back and was using the phone on T-Mobile.
I am having trouble with a couple of international sim cards (that are active - can be used to make calls). Both these sim cards used to work with the Note 2 before modem update. Also, both these sim cards work with my Moto X, but show "No Sim. Insert Sim Card" with the Note 2.
I did further tests with other international sim cards (that are not valid - have no credit and cannot be used to make call etc).
Is there anything specific I need to fix on the phone to get two of my sim cards to work with the note 2?
Notes:
1. It seems impossible to go back to the original T889v modem (bootloops).
2. I tried the T889 (T-Mobile) modem. Lost baseband and IMEI. Restored IMEI with NV Reader Writer. No luck with baseband.
3) After reinstalling i317M modem, got baseband and IMEI back normally. In fact, I can install any version of the i317M baseband and get the phone to work normally.
How can I fix the Sim issue and/or install a different modem?
Update:
The phone can read 4 SIM cards (1 US, 1 Canadian and 2 international)
The phone gives "No SIM" error on 3 international SIM cards (that all used to work on Note 2 previously, and are still recognized on other phones).
Is this a setting issue or some kind of lock for a certain sim card or info on it?
Ok So I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy s3 (SGH-T999L) (LTE Version). I previously rooted it and installed custom ROM using Cyanogenmod, then changed to TWRP later. Then, i wanted to revert to stock and unrooted my phone. I was told to install latest firmware and did so (Android 4.3 T999LUVUBOH1). Since then, i went from T-Mobile to MetroPCS. The phone is unlocked. When trying to use metropcs sim card on s3, it works for about 5 minutes (able to call & text), then all of a sudden i get NO SIGNAL and cannot do ANYTHING! I used my husband's metropcs sim card and same thing happened. Then, I tried my mom's AT&T sim card and it did seem to work fine for awhile. I tried accessing mobile networks to change APN while I had my mom's sim in there and was able to but when i insert my sim card it says: "Insert Sim to access network services" and there IS a sim in there. Our sims work fine on other phones. I don't understand what's going on. I've tried to flash a modem and even rooting it again, but Odin keeps failing or not responding. I cannot flash ANYTHING!!! Please help!
Flash back to a stock ROM and make sure everything works. Once this is done, call MetroPCS to see if they need to register the phone's imei on their system.
Thanks. It had official stock Rom already on it. I can try again if Odin decides to work for me. I have USB debugging on. I'll let you know what happens. I will also call Metro PCS. thanks again.

Omgoodness!! Thank you SO much! Calling metro pcs worked. I'm in disbelief! So simple, I didn't even think of it. I really appreciate your help!
No problem. Glad it worked. We're all here to help and learn from each other.
