1) download ADB/fastboot to Windows or Linux P.C. and enable USB debugging on your device by enabling developers option in your phone settings and clicking "enable USB debugging."
2) unlock boatloader thru HTCdev.com
3)download flashable SuperSU zip file to devices internal storage
4) download to computer and flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 official A5 zip from computer with zip file in the ADB folder using ADB/fastboot and your phone in Hboot/fastboot mode.
5) from newly installed custom recovery find in the file manager the previously installed SuperSU zip file in internal storage and flash it from your custom recovery then wipe cache and Dalvik cache then reboot into system.
6) find newly installed SuperSU app and check your settings to your liking and start enabling root apps you want to have root permissions and your done.
Below is the link to V_superusers detailed instructions as well as my in forum links to videos walking you through each step with tips included for any differences and issues you might encounter. Mine is the single SIM CDMA version as well and these instructions worked for my device although I opted to flash the TWRP custom recovery zip file instead of run the executable CWM linked in the original instructions. Just my preference in recoveries.

hey there.. you should have got an nandroid backup before you had your firmware updated.. but no worry.. we will work that out.. the sim problem maybe because your radio or RIL is not new and so on... so you should first update your radio and ril.. but before that get yourself a custom recovery... i recommend the latest ClockworkMod which is 5... google 'flash custom recovery on htc desire' then download the ClockWorkmod 5 from xda (desire version) and flash it.. after you had it finished check it by booting into recovery either by passing out the 'adb reboot recovery' command in adb shell or holding down vol-down + power while powering on and selecting recovery from the bootloader menu (the menu you will see after you hold the buttons).. you should see the blue recovery saying clockworkmod 5.. if so then download the compatible Radio and RIL for you phone from xda then flash them using recovery..( copy the zip files into your sd card ( you can mount your sd to usb using clockworkmod recovery option in Storage/Mount - > mount usb storage -maybe different) then first flash the RIL .zip using install .zip from sdcard option then reboot again to recovery and install the Radio .zip using the same option) then copy the leedroid .zip to sd using the instructions above and flash it again using install .zip from sdcard option.. then test .. if succeed you are lucky.. if not flash an OTA update (the official HTC firmware) you can find it in the net... i will be happy to help you better. if your problem not solved pm me!
Apparently Rom manager has caused all kinds of problems on the desire. On the android forums http//androidforums.com/htc-desire/ they advise you not to use it. Hanging at the htc screen is a common problem. There is however some advice on recovery.

need help with that! When i take Mount USB storage i get this error E:Unable to write to usm lunfile (No such file or directory)
Hi guys,
I have an international HTC ONE X and I was impatient in trying to root and flash custom ROM for the first time.
I followed this instruction sheet:
http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
And managed to unlock the bootloader and root device. Saw Super SU
Then, I tried to install CM10 ROM but I did forget to backup and wipe cache and data.
http://onexroot.com/one-x-roms/cm10-official-jelly-bean-rom-for-one-xatt-one-xone-xl-best-rom/
I went into bootloader->recover -> install from sd card -> cm10-official -> yes
Then the CM loading screen went on for like 10+ minutes straight so I thought something was off.
So after doing some panic googling, I installed Android SDK and ever since then, I cannot access fastboot via cmd
I then restarted it to bootloader and then did a backup now (late?)
I then looked up steps I missed and I think what I missed was
1. wipe cache and data
2. backup stock ROM
3 usd cmd -> fastboot -> boot image
Here are the steps I think I need to go about solving it:
1. Fastboot img of cm10 in cmd
2. wipe cache and data
3. Bootloader -> recovery -> install from sd -> cm10 -> yes
It gives me this error message:
fastboot.exe. system error
The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
So I google'd up this error message and I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781386
I tried the following solutions but I don't quite what to do.
1. Move adb.exe fastboot.exe and adbWinApi.dll to C:/Android
2. Install Daemon tools *(But I don't know what to do after installing it)
3. Uninstalling Android SDK
4. You need to add the directory containing the "AdbWinApi.dll" to Windows' path under Environment Variables, so Windows know where to look for the necessary files when you enter commands in the shell.
Can someone walk me through this? I am in a bit of panic.
my skype: sometingepic
Thanks ahead of time
Try this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734365

Flash stock recovery
Look up ruu find how to find wich one you need

Hmm.. I gave the tool a try but it said my device was not connected.
Problem I'm having is that I can wipe cache in recovery but when I first tried to install the ROM from zip, I forgot to backup ROM, fastboot boot image and wipe cache.
Another problem is that I can't mount the sd card or use fastboot USB right now. When I boot into recovery to mount SD card, it shows an error and fastboot doesn't seem to fully connect.
(One X also has no removable SD card)
When I try to mount SD card in recovery, it gives me an error so that means I can't just mount SD card to put stock ROM.
Right now, I'm looking for a way to mount SD card successfully so I can put stock ROM back on the One X. But until I can somehow mount the sd card, I'm in the stress and I'm a little afraid. My car mount for One X just came in and I can't use it.
Thanks in advance.
Telling us what the error is would be useful.
However, because I AM psychic, I can tell you that your version of clockworkmod is not the latest, so get 5.8.4.0, flash it:
fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.8.4.0.img
And then recovery will work for mounting as USB.
I need help to install a custom ROM onto my HTC Wildfire S a510e.
I have unlocked it using HTCdev as seen in the image but don't know what to do next to remove Andriod 2.3.5 along with all it's bloatware, and install another ROM.
Please help with clear precise instructions as I am not an expert in these things.
Thanks
dont panic
First download recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel (search this site )
reboot to bootloader

I want to download without pc
software status modified i wand to use linieageos with gapps and recovery TWRP somone to help me stap by step and save my life!!!!
love you all
You need to download the latest twrp for the Z2F/Nash from the TWRP site. One of the files is the twrp installer, which should be moved to your z2's sdcard. The img file stays on a PC.
Before you do anything, the Android platform tools should be present. Or you can instead install minimal adb/fastboot from XDA. Once you boot twrp you have to format data and type yes, so the rom and other files should be on an SD card. Alternatively, one may opt for adb sideload.
1.Flash LOS. Without rebooting, flash the twrp installer otherwise it won't stick.
2.Reboot recovery and flash gapps, then reboot recovery again
3. Reboot system
