Hi,
I have been trying to root my phone to install ARHD. I installed the boot.img file from the downloads section, installed ClockworkMOD, copied the ROM to the SD Card and unlocked the phone using HTCDEV.com.
However, now when the phone tries to boot, the lock screen appears, freezes then the phone reboots. Ican get into CWM Recovery but I can only see an Android folder, Lost.DIR folder and My Documents folder. I cannot see the ROM.
What can I do to get out of this Bootloop?
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
boot into recovery
install zip from sd card
choose your rom
install
viola
any of these steps that you not make? If you can follow through all these steps you should be good to go
good luck

Thanks for the quick Reply shadehh!
I can follow the instructions up to Install Zip from SDCard. When I choose that option I can only see the following directories:
Android/
LOST.DIR/
My Documents/
I've searched through all 3 directories and no sign of the ROM. I had originally copied it to a new folder call ROMS on the root of the SD-Card.

Ah this looks crappy, your phone i think is not in big **** just yet. Looks like you've got to find a way to push your rom into your phone and i think i just recalled something...
I know this is written in the One S section but i see no reason why this shouldn't work with the HoX
What this basically does is it lets you put a rom on your sdcard through CWM, this i hope helps you get back on track : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
try putting across again go in to recovery and mount the storage and drag and drop it over again see if that helps
adb will not detect the device as I cannot get into the operating system to turn on USB debugging
when I mount the SDCard, my PC still cannot see the drive so I cannot copy anything across.
Any other ideas?

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html <-- you have that installed?
install following packages:
Android SDK Tools
Android SDK Platform Tools
Google USB Driver Package
uhhh, then check if your device gets detected?
Also have you got HTC Sync installed?
EDIT: If this doesn't help then i'm clueless. Hope someone else can help you
Phone wont even charge now. Think my next stop is the nice man at the Vodafone shop.
If you have latest cwm 5.8.4.0 then you can charge in recovery. You can also mount your sdcard to put the ROM back on there in cwm
Go on mounts menu then choose mount USB storage then plug to PC.
It should appear in computer and you can copy back over

Thankseveryone for your assistance.
What I had to in the end was to flash stock recovery . This allowed me to then factory reset which got the phone up and running, albeit, in stock, but unlocked.
Now, do I bite the bullet and load a ROM on or be thankful that I dodged a bullet?:laugh:
Again, thank you all sooooooo much!!!!!

Try follow these steps
1) Choose one ROM for the one X (ex. IceColdJellly) and download it to your PC
2) Extract boot.img from the zip you've donloaded and move it to the same folder of fastboot
3) In your phone go to fastboot usb (press power + vol down until you see fastboot usb)
4) Conect your phone to PC
5) Flash boot image
6) Choose recovery
7) Choose mount usb
8) Copy the ROM to your SD card
9) Unmount usb
10) Flash ROM
11) Reboot system
You should be good to go.
Attention there is no GAPPS flashed, for that you need to download latest GAPPS and copy them to Sd card and flash them.
Good luck

Hi guys,
I have an international HTC ONE X and I was impatient in trying to root and flash custom ROM for the first time.
I followed this instruction sheet:
http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
And managed to unlock the bootloader and root device. Saw Super SU
Then, I tried to install CM10 ROM but I did forget to backup and wipe cache and data.
http://onexroot.com/one-x-roms/cm10-official-jelly-bean-rom-for-one-xatt-one-xone-xl-best-rom/
I went into bootloader->recover -> install from sd card -> cm10-official -> yes
Then the CM loading screen went on for like 10+ minutes straight so I thought something was off.
So after doing some panic googling, I installed Android SDK and ever since then, I cannot access fastboot via cmd
I then restarted it to bootloader and then did a backup now (late?)
I then looked up steps I missed and I think what I missed was
1. wipe cache and data
2. backup stock ROM
3 usd cmd -> fastboot -> boot image
Here are the steps I think I need to go about solving it:
1. Fastboot img of cm10 in cmd
2. wipe cache and data
3. Bootloader -> recovery -> install from sd -> cm10 -> yes
It gives me this error message:
fastboot.exe. system error
The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
So I google'd up this error message and I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781386
I tried the following solutions but I don't quite what to do.
1. Move adb.exe fastboot.exe and adbWinApi.dll to C:/Android
2. Install Daemon tools *(But I don't know what to do after installing it)
3. Uninstalling Android SDK
4. You need to add the directory containing the "AdbWinApi.dll" to Windows' path under Environment Variables, so Windows know where to look for the necessary files when you enter commands in the shell.
Can someone walk me through this? I am in a bit of panic.

Thanks ahead of time
Try this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734365
You need sdk and htc drivers
Flash stock recovery
Look up ruu find how to find wich one you need
Lock bootloader with that tool
Run ruu

Hmm.. I gave the tool a try but it said my device was not connected.
Problem I'm having is that I can wipe cache in recovery but when I first tried to install the ROM from zip, I forgot to backup ROM, fastboot boot image and wipe cache.
Another problem is that I can't mount the sd card or use fastboot USB right now. When I boot into recovery to mount SD card, it shows an error and fastboot doesn't seem to fully connect.
(One X also has no removable SD card)
When I try to mount SD card in recovery, it gives me an error so that means I can't just mount SD card to put stock ROM.
Right now, I'm looking for a way to mount SD card successfully so I can put stock ROM back on the One X. But until I can somehow mount the sd card, I'm in the stress and I'm a little afraid. My car mount for One X just came in and I can't use it.
Thanks in advance.
Telling us what the error is would be useful.
However, because I AM psychic, I can tell you that your version of clockworkmod is not the latest, so get 5.8.4.0, flash it:
fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.8.4.0.img
And then recovery will work for mounting as USB.
First of all, I want to tell that I am a beginner and do not know much about rooting and custom ROM installation.
Few days back, I became very keen to know what is custom ROM and is there any custom ROM available for my HTC One X. I searched through internet and found one, downloaded it. Rooted my phone, Unlocked bootloader. After that I installed CWM touch recovery. Everything was going great. Then, I first flashed the kernel given along with that custom ROM. it Flashed. Then, I flashed that Custom ROM. I Showed an error. I flashed it twice or thrice but it stucked on that error. Also in a Hurry, or Excitement, I forgot to take a backup of my previous ROM. After that, I switched on my phone it does nothing and stucked at HTC Bootscreen. I factory reset my phone, it wiped all data from phone. I Thought, a RUU would work, but it also doesn't worked.
I went to HTC Service Center, they are saying that motherboard will be replaced, which is almost of same cost of phone. I cannot spend so much.
I tried so many ways, but nothing worked.
So, I am Finally here seeking help from Experts. Any help will be highly appreciable.
Sorry for my bad English.

Try this, flash this recovery :

Make a full wipe and install the rom.zip. and flash the boot.img from the rom.zip
What rom were you trying to flash ?
If its a kitkat ROM you can't use cwm recovery to flash that rom.. you either use philz recovery given by mr hofs or latest twrp recovery from the twrp thread or indexed listing thread..

sorry for this stupid question. But how to use ADB Sideload..??
Just mount the sdcard in the mounts and storage menu ! No need for adb sideload
And don't just install the rom, you must perform a full wipe before that !
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Format system
Format data
Format cache
Then install the rom !

Why are you flashing so many recoveries ?
Just flash Philz 5.15 for non kitkat roms or twrp2 for use with all roms. On those 2 recoveries all features work including touch on all hboot numbers. You don't need 2.4 at all !
And both recoveries support UMS inside the recovery. I think you only made it a bit hard on yourself this way. The rom (CM) didn't make your sdcard work again btw.....any rom does but it has to be installed all in the correct way
Sorry to say but your steps are a bit of a mess
I would have explained it like this....taking in mind that knowing fastboot is mandatory and common :
1: flash either Twrp2 or Philz 5.1.5 (for non kitkat roms)
2: enter the recovery and mount the sdcard in the mount menu, wait literally minutes to let the sdcard pop up
3: copy the desired rom
4: unmount and perform a full wipe (that means to wipe ALL except sdcard)
5: install the rom.zip
6: reboot to the bootloader and flash the boot.img from the desired rom
7: reboot
Done !

The problem with this was that when I mounted my sdcard nothing popped up. (I litterly waited 30 minutes) I explain it this way because when following other threads explaining how to "unbrick" your phone. I got a lot of issues during the proces. Like SD-card not mounting, fastboot not working, adb not working, touch screen not working, promises of recovery's that your device wil be recognized for usb sideload, ... I ran into a lot of problems and I had to figure it out myself how I had to unbrick my HTC because I forgot to take a back-up. And these were the steps I did.I know your explanation is more 'ideal" but sometimes people can't follow the ideal path because of issues/bugs/problems and that's where my thread comes in
If it doesn't pop up its a pc driver issue

For me it wasn't I had properly installed all drivers. it just said endeavoru on my devices. And i couldn't connect. But once I installed the TWRP recovery it showed HTC ONE X and it worked
The twrp did nothing, as i said .... it was a driver issue. Once you booted to the bootloader it got picked up and drivers were added/modified correctly. If the drivers were installed properly it should say MYHTC .....
@vsp33ddyv MAAAAAAAAAN you saved me!!! I soft bricked my dad's phone by accidentally flashing the recovery to the boot partition as well as the recovery partition so the stock ROM was overwritten by the recovery. I wasn't planning on flashing any ROMs so there was no rom zip on my sdcard. I downloaded CM11, tried sideloading it through adb but it kept saying it didn't recognize the device. I tried USB storage mounting but that didn't work either (no matter how long I waited). I would have NEVER guessed that all I needed to do was download that broken (I say broken because touch doesn't work so basically nothing works) TWRP recovery img!!!! @Mr Hofs, sir, you were wrong. It wasn't the drivers. ADB didn't recognize my device, I changed my recovery and BAM it's suddenly there. I had already rebooted the device a million times so it's not like the drivers suddenly decided to get installed (there were no notifications either).
So thank you thank you thank you SO DAMN MUCH!
Thank you very much.
If it hadn't been for your tutorial i would've had to throw the phone.
Many thanks.
