totally blown away by my desire, although, I still need to tick one more box.
I use my calendar a lot and utilise the busy/free option on windows mobile to mark entries as done. this functionality exists on google calendar but not on the android calendar.
can anyone offer any advice or suggest an alternative calendar that provides this ?

Try pure calendar grid. I use that. Maybe email the developer first. He gets back in good time.
thanks, given that a go but its just a widget that links into the existing calendar.
any other ideas ?

But it links to google calander.
yep, not disputing that. just need this one bit of functionality.
thought it would be widely used in android as its a standard part of google calendar itself.
just can't find the ability to use it on any apps.

Give the guy an email, maybe he can help.
I too have the same issue. I sync with Exchange via Activesync and it doesn't honour the free/busy option.
I use Vibrate During Meetings (VDM) which sets your phone onto vibrate during meetings. This has an option to only do this for appointments marked as "busy", but since the Desire calendar doesn't honour this setting it's no good to me.
I am on call for a week at a time, so put an appointment in my calendar for on call which is marked in Exchange as free. Unfortunately since the free setting doesn't propagate to the phone (by either HTC Sync or Activesync) the phone puts itself on vibrate for a week at a time.
I'd be interested in a solution if anyone finds one.
agreed.
can't believe that this functionality hasn't been considered in the android calendars.
this is probably not an issue to a lot of people but its key to my phone usage, especially after coming from winmob where this had been standard for years.

Have you looked at the market for "ftp client"? There seem to be more than enough to try.
Hi guys I've got a question about the using the official facebook app which isnt as bad as it used to be. I've seen posts with a "via Facebook for Android" signature with the little green robot but all I get is a mobile icon with the "via Mobile" signature. Is the a way to get change this? I haven't found any setting for a signature in the facebook app unlike most other apps.

Try searching 'Status Via or Statuses Via" in Android Market
Thanks for the reply!! Also noticed that 'Facebook for Android' appears when you make posts directly from apps to the FB mobile website. The official FB app only shows the 'via mobile' signature however so its kind of inconsistent. Thanks all the same

Several sources said that OpenVPN support is disabled/removed on the AFTV android system, so you can't use VPN service on the device :crying:
You can apply DNS server settings via smartdns to your LAN/WIFI connection on the AFTV, so you can bypass geolocation restrictions to most internet services but not all working that way.
