totally blown away by my desire, although, I still need to tick one more box.
I use my calendar a lot and utilise the busy/free option on windows mobile to mark entries as done. this functionality exists on google calendar but not on the android calendar.
can anyone offer any advice or suggest an alternative calendar that provides this ?

Try pure calendar grid. I use that. Maybe email the developer first. He gets back in good time.
thanks, given that a go but its just a widget that links into the existing calendar.
any other ideas ?

But it links to google calander.
yep, not disputing that. just need this one bit of functionality.
thought it would be widely used in android as its a standard part of google calendar itself.
just can't find the ability to use it on any apps.

You can try motocal once we're able to push to system.

Give the guy an email, maybe he can help.
I too have the same issue. I sync with Exchange via Activesync and it doesn't honour the free/busy option.
I use Vibrate During Meetings (VDM) which sets your phone onto vibrate during meetings. This has an option to only do this for appointments marked as "busy", but since the Desire calendar doesn't honour this setting it's no good to me.
I am on call for a week at a time, so put an appointment in my calendar for on call which is marked in Exchange as free. Unfortunately since the free setting doesn't propagate to the phone (by either HTC Sync or Activesync) the phone puts itself on vibrate for a week at a time.
I'd be interested in a solution if anyone finds one.
agreed.
can't believe that this functionality hasn't been considered in the android calendars.
this is probably not an issue to a lot of people but its key to my phone usage, especially after coming from winmob where this had been standard for years.

I wondering if any one has used any good email clients. The one on the stock android is good for personal use but falls really short for work purpose.

Good question, I am looking for the same thing because I use Road Runner. And man, t-Mobile jacked my phone up. They set up a filter and all my emails where sent to my phone as a text message. Now I can not find out how to fix it because sometimes my email works and sometimes it doesnt and I think that the filter is screwing everything up. I called them and they said that they deleted the filter, however it still sends my messages via text.
Super Annoying!!!
I saw some one mentioned k-9 Mail, its much better than the
One that comes with the phone. If there is one btter than that then please suggest.

How about Touchdown by Nitrodesk? I've been using it for a couple of years now and I like it.

In what way do you feel the stock app falls short for work? I use it for work everyday and it does everything I need it too. What features are you looking for in an email app that the stock one doesn't have?
Just curious, that's all.....
Well for one it does not foward attachments and also u can't clear the trash folder.

Odd. I forward mail containing attachments from my work account to my personal account all the time, and they forward just fine. And you can clear the trash folder. Select the account you want, hit menu, folders, trash and then select the messages you want deleted, and hit delete. Done.
I realize it might not be as convenient as some may want, but it does work.
One thing I've noticed with the stock gmail app is that you can't save attachements...unless I'm missing something but when I email a xls spreadsheet to myself it gives me a option to preview it but no save.
im using touchdown for now.
I need to be able to search email and the stock client does not allow for that
I've been using Seven (which is free) on WM for years. It's not nearly as polished on Android, but it's decent. I'm looking for alternatives and will give Touchdown a try.
Hey.
I have just got this awesome phone.
But I can't find a way to sync my facebook contracts with google contracts. Is there anybody who can tell me how to do that.?

You can't. The app doesn't support it. The only contact sync that works is Google+ out of the box.
Okay thanks for the answer. Hope that they will change that soon
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
That's all up to Facebook. Hopefully they add it back in. The API is available for them to do so in a new version of the app. Google isn't restricting them or anything.
Friendcaster app can sync with the people app in ICS.. But the photo are not high definition!
Nexus devices have always had this feature excluded.

No they have not. I can sync just fine on my Nexus One. Also, it's not that the feature was excluded. Facebook used to have a backdoor API that allowed them to sync in Android that other developers couldn't use. Google removed it in the newer versions of Android. This means that for it to keep working, Facebook would have to update their app to use the public API for contact syncing (that's been there the whole time) and allow the user more control of their own info. They have not done so.
It's Facebook's app that's the problem here. It's nothing specific to the Nexus devices in general. You just notice it more in Nexus devices because they don't have manufacturer created Facebook apps (i.e. HTC's custom made FB app that syncs properly).
My friend broke his screen on his HTC trophy and he is unable to see anything on the screen. He cannot put in his password to unlock the phone. Does anyone have any ideas on how to transfer the contacts? Cellibrite will not work because the phone cannot be unlocked because the broken screen....

Phone is not unlocked.
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
He doesn't need to; they will all transfer automatically when he puts his sim card into a new windows phone and logs into his live account associated with his original phone. If he needs to see his contact have him visit his windowsphone.com account and view contacts.
If no sim card, no worries, just sign into new phone using the live id he used on the trophy.
I think that is part of the problem. He never did have a windows live account.
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
He had to set one up at some point to use the market, built in services like Office & Skydrive, Find My Phone ect. He's either got a "live" or "hotmail" account, and that is where his contacts will be stored. He could have had them sync elsewhere in addition to that (like gmail ect)
He has his replacement phone which is a HTC trophy as well. He has the phone up and going but his contacts are not there. What should he log into to bring up his contacts? Window market, his email account,... sorry for the newb question. I am use to android.
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
What for email did he use?
Windows live 1st... it is usually required.
Gmail?
Exchange?
Any of these he could have been saving contacts too. Just not pop3 like comcast for example.
Have him enter all of his email accounts that his previous phone used and see what happens after they sync.
Ok. Thanks

Dose anyone know an app that will steal-prof my HOX ? I was using HTCSense.com with Desire HD but now it's not available anymore . I was thinking about something like send a SMS with a specific password the will lock the phone , display my contact info , turn GPS and Mobile Network/WiFi ON and delete my important data like contacts , photos , SMS , Accounts and the rest !
Avast Mobile allows you to do most of those sort of things by SMS
I use the paid version of Kaspersky. Apart from the anti-stealing features, it has excellent call blocking features. Of course, anti-virus is present.

Seekdroid or Preyproject
I'm currently using Cerberus, I'm sure it does all you want.

The app "where is my droid" does it aswell, including notification of a simcard change on theft

Avast free version do all things . Lock phone through sms , it will send sms and location on sim change.

Cerburus does alot of things like take pictures using the front facing camera, when the person who may have stole the phone trys to unlock it! Has huge list of features

Cerberus +1
One more vote for cerberus. I lost my hox in a cab and found it 40minutes after.
About call blocker, i think sense has this by default, or it is a feature of ARHD, because i see that option in mine.
Another vote for Cerberus, couldn't recommend it enough!
It's very well priced and it can work with multiple devices.
Assuming the phone is reset to factory defaults before changing sim etc...it can't be tracked?

If someone what's to steal your phone they will. No app will make it steal proof. Why don't you just encrypt it if your worried about the data.

Install Cerberus as a system app. Only way they can stop it being tracked is a full wipe and flashing a new rom. Are phone thieves that smart/knowledgeable?
technically you cant "steal proof" a phone, only track it down after its been stolen...
Just seen this thread and downloaded Cerberus straight away. What an amazing app. So many features all remotely accessed via your PC or SMS. Also love the fact that you can designate up to 3 trusted numbers (friends or family) to have messages sent to in the event of a SIM swap, and those numbers can also lock you device for you. £2.40 is nothing to pay for that amount of funcionality!
So, is there any way we can install the HTC mail app on our Galaxy Nexus ? I love that mail client and i would use it on my nexus also.
I guess it requires htc sense framework, so most probably no.
If this is not possible, what is the best mail client ? The default one is horrible
K9 was a really popular one last time I needed an alternative to stock

Mail clients on Android are pretty terrible. You've either got the choice of equally bad open source clients like K-9, or ad-ridden clients like Aqua Mail or Maildroid that require a payment to get the pro version.
I stick to the default mail client because it works fine for me despite being kinda crappy.
Everything is crap. Only the HTC one was ok for me... Isnt there any way to port it ?

What's wrong with the nexus default? I use both accounts and constantly get mail almost every minute on of them. Gmail is the one pissed about, its slow and unreliable most times.

The HTC one has some excellent features which you just don't get on the defaut client, like the ability to see all emails from all folders and all accounts in one pot.. That would be the main selling point for me!, is there a paid for client that can do that?

I have been using Touchdown to access my official mails (exchange server). Feature wise I think this is the best mail client on android but UI can be better.

Thanks Zepius but this doesn't let you view all emails from all selected folders, it only combines the inboxes from two or more accounts.
