I have a 2.4GHz mini wireless keyboard/mouse (Rii 2.4GHz Wireless Mini Kodi Keyboard -- can be found on Amazon by that name but I am not allowed to post the link).
It works great on the AFTV (Gen 2) when the receiver is plugged directly into the USB port on the AFTV. But I wanted to add another USB device and since the AFTV only has one USB port I thought I would use a USB hub.
Now the keyboard/mouse will not work at all when plugged into the hub. I have observed the following while troubleshooting:
1. Keyboard works great on AFTV when not using a USB hub.
1. I have tried both a regular and a powered USB 2.0 hub.
2. With both hubs, when the keyboard did not work on AFTV I moved the hub to a laptop and the keyboard worked great.
3. I also tried another full size 2.4 wireless keyboard and mouse on both hubs and again they failed when the hub was connected to AFTV but worked fine when the hub was connected to a computer.
4. I have swapped out several different USB cables and they all have the same results.
5. Other USB devices, e.g. a flash drive, work just fine on the USB hub when attached to AFTV.
Does anyone have any ideas or advice about this problem I am having using a wireless keyboard with USB hub? I greatly appreciate any help I can receive on this forum as I am thoroughly stumped right now.
Thanks., R

@Kramar111 Thank you very much for the reply. I never figured out why, but the exact hub you linked to still did not allow me to use my 2.4GHz wireless keyboard.
I finally broke down and bought a new Bluetooth mini-keyboard and that has been working great. USB hubs I have tested work great with the AFTV2 in general, for those that are wondering. I have successfully used a USB flash thumb drive, Flirc receiver, and generic IR remote receiver on a several different hubs (I haven't yet tried a spinning USB drive, but think it might work on a powered hub). It is only the above mentioned 2.4GHz mini-keyboard that was problematic.
Amazon customer support is no help in this matter. They simply say they don't support use of a hub. For those making a new keyboard/mouse purchase for their AFTV2, a Bluetooth version may the safest route (and not take up a USB spot).
I bought a usb3.0 hub for aftv2ndgen. I do not have Rii 2.4GHz Wireless Mini Kodi Keyboard to test. bluetooth sometimes feels laggy compared to usb wireless perhaps a 3.0 hub might be more favorable for you.

Using the same hub with FLIRC dongle and Logic Keyboard/Mouse on a Fire TV2... it also worked on my first gen fire tv

Hey! So i managed my S2 to work with an OTG adapter. Now it recognizes Flash drives, USB mouse and keyboard as well. My problem is though, that i'd want to use both the mouse and the keyboard simultaneously, and later on my tablet as well.
I've got a USB hub which was pretty cheap i guess,
ht tp://itmedia.sk/item-images/other-usb_omega_hub4portSTARpowercapable/it6818_2.jpeg?nc=032
When i connect it to the OTG adapter it lights up, and if there's a flash drive attached to it when i plug it in, the phone recognizes the flashdrive without problem. As soon as i plug in a second flash drive, the light goes off from the HUB and both of the sticks get unrecognized. Also, the mouse nor the keyboard works through the HUB somehow..
I need to buy a specific hub with OTG support or a power hub perhaps? Could anyone help in this? I looked over google and stuff but people seemed to say different stuff at almost every site.. Thanks!!

Oh well that's quite interesting. Then you're saying this piece of video could be fake perhaps?
Since i can post links yet, search for this on youtube: USB HUB Support On GALAXY S2
Check the very first video.
I'm convinced that the every phone can handle only one device connected at the same time.

Well, it surely doesn't seem that way, that's why i was asking, since it's possible.
Weird.... i got sgs2 and 4-port usb hub and when i connect 2 pendrives to hub and hub to phone everything works good (i see UsbDriveA and UsbDriveB). If your hub have dc input you can try connecting power supply to this hub. Maybe this hub isn't compatibile with your phone.
Hello everyone. I just recently purchased a fire tv an a Logitech K400 keyboard because I seen it was working for others. I cannot get this stinking keyboard to work with firetv. I've plugged the dongle in and was also looking to see if there is any type of app I need to side load to get it to work. I'm still new to all of this so please be gentle. Thank you for your responses.
Well that's a shame.
Is yours actually just a K400 or is it a K400r?
My K400r works just fine on my Fire TV.
My k400 worked perfect right out of the box, installed batteries, switched on and plugged in dongle. Now I even use a 4 port usb for my ext hard drive and the dongle still works perfect. I hope you figure it out. Test it on a lap top.
Have you plugged the dongle into a PC or Mac to test it is actually paired? Was the k400 new or refurbished? I've bought refurbs that weren't paired out of the box. If so, on a PC you can download and install the Unifying app from Logitech to pair the keyboard to it.

Sounds like a bad one. Mine works fine. It's a pretty plug 'n play no-brainer install. Mine is plugged into a four-port un-powered hub.
Found this:
Troubleshooting
Touch Keyboard not working?
• Check to see you remove the battery tabs.
• Restart the keyboard by turning it off and then back on.
• Check if you have connected the Unifying receiver.
• Move the Unifying receiver to another USB port on your computer. (Try plugging the receiver directly into the computer instead of a USB hub.)
• Use the USB Range Extender for a stronger signal.
• Check the battery orientation. Replace the AA batteries.
• Some Function keys are for Windows® 8 usage, use Logitech SetPoint software to map these keys to other functions.
Receiver remembers
I lost my original unifying receiver, to get the new one to work I had to first pair it on a computer with the unifying software, then plugged it into the fire tv it worked!
Turn off USB debugging
Fire tv home
Settings
Devicdeveloper options
USB debugging -off
Will the FireTV work with a unpowered hub for a USB Stick, FLIRC & Unifying Dongle?
I would like to get an unpowered usb hub to do a few things. 1. Logitech Unifying Receiver 2. Flirc and 3. USB Stick to put some XBMC files.
I want unpowered because it will be less wires but I am not sure if using an unpowered hub will make any of these items like the keyboard not work as well.
Anyone know and can recommend a good hub?
It will depend on how much power those items require but I've used a unpowered usb hub with usb stick plus a logitech kb/mouse receiver without issue.
I have a hub usb stick and flirc and have had a unifying receiver for an htpc keyboard trackpad combo. Worked great.
I am trying to use a flirc remote control dongle and a xbox 360 wireless game controller (with usb receiver dongle) at the same time. I have tried 2 different USB hubs, one is a generic 4-1, and one is a amazon branded "amazon basics" 4-1 hub. Both show the same (limited) functionality, i.e. the flirc works, the xbox controller dongle gets power, but after syncing with the controller, there is no onscreen response to the controller. This lack of response is consistent with and without the flirc plugged in. If I plug the xbox dongle directly into the AFTV2, or through a short 1-1 USB extension cable, the xbox controller works perfectly.
I am hoping that there is something obvious that I am missing here. Maybe a software hack. If there is a post i missed addressing this, please feel free to unload all appropriate beratements before posting the link. Any suggestions would be welcome. I am toying with the idea of some kind of USB switch, maybe with a simple remote so my fat butt can stay seated. Thanks in advance,

Sounds like your hub won't supply enough power to the dongle. Does it have a secondary power source you can plug in?
No, there is no secondary power source with either hub. I have ordered a hub w/12v power source. I will update soon. Thanks for the tip!
No joy with the powered USB (3.0) hub. I did however get a strange moment while attempting to get the controller to sync, where the fire tv reported that internet connection had been lost, then popped up a dialogue showing me my connections was good. I couldn't get it to go away until i unplugged the controller.

That stinks, I wonder if anyone can confirm a hub working for them?
Hi!
I have brand new Fire TV stick 4k and trying OTG cable to work... I tried two OTG cables with two different IR receivers (Microsoft and generic) and USB to LAN adapter - nothing being recognized by stick...
Any suggestions what should I try? I have latest firmware.
Thanks!

Plug in a USB mouse and start an app wich shows the mouse cursor, if it doesnt work then the OTG cable is not supported with the fire tv.
Good luck
Thanks!
But wouldn't stick's pointer follow physical mouse?
And which app shows mouse cursor?
Thanks!!!
