Hi!
I have brand new Fire TV stick 4k and trying OTG cable to work... I tried two OTG cables with two different IR receivers (Microsoft and generic) and USB to LAN adapter - nothing being recognized by stick...
Any suggestions what should I try? I have latest firmware.
Thanks!

Plug in a USB mouse and start an app wich shows the mouse cursor, if it doesnt work then the OTG cable is not supported with the fire tv.
Good luck
Thanks!
But wouldn't stick's pointer follow physical mouse?
And which app shows mouse cursor?
Thanks!!!

Does anyone know if the Amazon fire TV stick has the OTG compatible hardware. I bought a Y OTG cable and it doesn't work . I was going to do a hardware root and see if I could get it working. But if doesn't even have the compatible hardware i'm not going to bother.
No one has been able to get anything working. I don't know whether it has the hardware or not, but I'm kind of doubting it, or it's not enabled at all in the OS.
I have looked at the PCB and it looks like only power is hooked up to the port the rest look grounded so there won't be any USB stuff for it

That is very sneaky of them. I don't understand why they are intentionally crippling their hardware...

thats why i said it looks like. i was going off the pics on gtv. i just looked again and the traces u can see are ground and a data line, pin 2 and pin 5. the fact they where able to get adb to work makes me think the rest are hooked up but u cant see them

any updates on using otg cables with the stick?
if the hardware is ready (data has to be wired, i think?), the host mode would be only software dependent?

It's possible, but it's also pointless.
Connecting to your Fire TV stick is possible without using the cable, just by using adb.
ie: adb connect 192.168.0.103 (ip address of your Fire Stick)

Then you didn't get the point. We are talking about using USB-OTG in this thread.
What should be pointless in thinking about that?!
I think everybody would like to connect a USB key to the AFTVS to watch some movies from that USB key :good:
Hi, i was able to get otg working.....now I'm using a USB wired keyboard and mouse connected to a USB hub.......and was able to use a ps3 controller connected by USB working with a app called liquidsky.....but I need help, does anyone know how to get a wired Xbox 360 controller working with fire stick.........it plugs in and gets power but the middle guide button just keeps blinking and its not recognized by liquidsky........any help would be appreciated.........

If it's not a bluetooth mouse, you will need to pair the mouse with a unifying receiver using a computer and then plug the unifying receiver into the USB port of the fire tv.
Any extra info?
I have several spare Logitech usb mice that I use when needed. The range is great. They are years old and are only like 5-7 dollars.
No pairing needed.
I am unable to get my K400 recognized by the Fire TV. Was working fine until i did an update to 51.1.6.0 - Not sure what changed but
i cant get this thing to pair. Any suggestions to troubleshoot. The keyboard works fine with my WIN machine and i have rebooted
my fire tv as well so anything else before i dump it.
Thanks !

Always has worked great for me and probably the most popular keyboard for AFTV. This might sound basic but you are using the unifying receiver, right? If so are you using a hub? Maybe the hub is the issue...unfortunately if it is you'll probably want a new one since most people use a USB drive and a keyboard.
Not sure what u mean by unifying receiver, but i plug the Logitech usb into the back of the Fire tv usb port. what am i doing wrong guys.
Does it need anything once u plug in.. i ve done re-start etc but still the same.
Try plugging in just a regular wired USB keyboard and see if that works. Maybe there's something wrong with your USB port.

I replied to an earler thread that I run into this issue on occasion using a wireless keyboard with the Fire TV. Disconnecting and reconnecting the Fire TV power cord from the wall outlet solves it for me.

You probably already tried this but if you have usb debugging enabled in settings it won't recognize any usb devices; i.e. k400. Make sure usb debugging is off.

Not the case as I have never enabled USB Debugging. Its just that I lose the usb keyboard for some reason and have to resort to the procedure outlined earlier to get it to work. My Fire TV is rooted and that could be a possible reason.
Awesome.. that was it. Cant Thank you enough.

I have a 2.4GHz mini wireless keyboard/mouse (Rii 2.4GHz Wireless Mini Kodi Keyboard -- can be found on Amazon by that name but I am not allowed to post the link).
It works great on the AFTV (Gen 2) when the receiver is plugged directly into the USB port on the AFTV. But I wanted to add another USB device and since the AFTV only has one USB port I thought I would use a USB hub.
Now the keyboard/mouse will not work at all when plugged into the hub. I have observed the following while troubleshooting:
1. Keyboard works great on AFTV when not using a USB hub.
1. I have tried both a regular and a powered USB 2.0 hub.
2. With both hubs, when the keyboard did not work on AFTV I moved the hub to a laptop and the keyboard worked great.
3. I also tried another full size 2.4 wireless keyboard and mouse on both hubs and again they failed when the hub was connected to AFTV but worked fine when the hub was connected to a computer.
4. I have swapped out several different USB cables and they all have the same results.
5. Other USB devices, e.g. a flash drive, work just fine on the USB hub when attached to AFTV.
Does anyone have any ideas or advice about this problem I am having using a wireless keyboard with USB hub? I greatly appreciate any help I can receive on this forum as I am thoroughly stumped right now.
Thanks., R

@Kramar111 Thank you very much for the reply. I never figured out why, but the exact hub you linked to still did not allow me to use my 2.4GHz wireless keyboard.
I finally broke down and bought a new Bluetooth mini-keyboard and that has been working great. USB hubs I have tested work great with the AFTV2 in general, for those that are wondering. I have successfully used a USB flash thumb drive, Flirc receiver, and generic IR remote receiver on a several different hubs (I haven't yet tried a spinning USB drive, but think it might work on a powered hub). It is only the above mentioned 2.4GHz mini-keyboard that was problematic.
Amazon customer support is no help in this matter. They simply say they don't support use of a hub. For those making a new keyboard/mouse purchase for their AFTV2, a Bluetooth version may the safest route (and not take up a USB spot).
I bought a usb3.0 hub for aftv2ndgen. I do not have Rii 2.4GHz Wireless Mini Kodi Keyboard to test. bluetooth sometimes feels laggy compared to usb wireless perhaps a 3.0 hub might be more favorable for you.

There is a splitter for that, search on Amazon
Amazon.com
Or you can also make it yourself just need some soldering skills and few components
If you want to use more than one device (like USB and keyboard and mouse) then you will need a usb hub also.
