Hello guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2(N7100). It is rooted and got CM 12.1 installed. I have been using my ROM for a long time. It was fine even some days ago. But suddenly the android OS has started to use a lot of mobile data. I tested by enabling background data, but still it eats a lot of data. I have disabled all the auto sync services and also disabled backup under "Backup and Reset". But still it is continuously eating lots of data. I have attached a screenshot of data usage of Android OS.
Can anyone tell me what's the problem and why it is eating do much data. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hello, I've seen a few threads with people complaining about their inability to use data, but my problem is the opposite, even though I'm on wifi the phone seems be using mobile data still.
I rooted my LG Optimus G (canadian, e973) and installed cyanogenmod (10.2) recently. After reinstalling all my old apps, i got a text saying I went over my data usage. In my phone's settings, I've turned off data and the little chart that tracks usage says I haven't used any but when I called telus they said I've passed by limit by a few megabytes. I disabled data and I've been on wifi this whole time, except it's still draining data. Has this problem come up before? What should I do? Any input is appreciated
Hello guys, well i have a bit of a strange problem, i have an unbranded HTC M8, i had it with 4.4.2 stock rom and everything was alright. I just upgraded to 4.4.3 (through OTA), after that, i did a wipe data/wipe cache from recovery to start from scratch, and now everytime i enable wifi the arrows beneath the wifi simbol stay lit all the time. Now i haven't installed any apps, i disabled facebook, google+ etc, i haven't even added an email account so there's nothing that could be using the network. I checked mobile data usage and there's nothing substantial there, so i really don't know what to try anymore. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Android OS shows increasing data usage. What's that exactly?!
Well, completely desperate, i started blocking apps from the app menu in the settings. Apparently, it kind of stopped when i freezed all the related sense processes (facebook, twitter, etc.) though i didn't have any accounts working, because i had just factory formated the phone. Still, it keeps transfering data (not as much) and it's the Android OS doing it. I also have to add this only happens through wifi, 3G data doesn't behave the same way.
I had recently moved to MIUI V6 Global Beta from Mokee 51.1. What I Recently Observed that the Android System was Using too much data in background. Whether I use cellular data or a wifi, it would unnecessarily use data. My Google Sync is off, My Backups and location are also off. I dont understand what is causing such data usage. I dont remember this kind of usage in any of my previous roms.
Can anyone tell give me a solution for it, I dont have a wifi all the time and mostly use 1GB per month data connection which gives me about 34MB per day and cant afford Android System Using 10-15 MB Data per day.
Hello,
I've noticed horrible performance on my phone in the last few days. I did an upgrade to 5.1.1 in January and then a Factory Reset. Things have been much much better on the phone since. The last few days I've noticed some strange behavior. I've had to reboot a lot and it's been sluggish. I'm having trouble installing apps as well.
What worries me the most is that Google Books used .73 GB today alone and AccuWeather used .6 GB in about a day as well. Any idea of what's causing all of this? I don't wanna blow through my data - it's early in my cycle as well. This has never happened.

I thought that the issue was with my phone but I've encountered the same issue as well.
Since I updated my note 4 to 5.1.1 my data has spiked.
My data connection has always been h+ but after the update I started to get 4G LTE speeds. Now in a matter of 2 days of normal usage I'm on 3gb used data. I just restrict background data and use lots of wifi to safe data
Do you have problems with data connection falling while making a phone call.? Every time I make a call I get a msg saying no data connection!
I'm also also seeing insane data usage patterns with android OS background. Each month more that 10GB use. 26.5GB this month alone. I've taken out all bloatware I do not use, and replaced most original apps. All apps I do use, are clearly listed. My Android 5.0.2 tablet uses more data than my gaming system and workstation combined. 17GB last month also. Always background use, usually in large blocks. This is like the svhost issues on windows. Are there any apps that parse the modules and connections the background Android system uses, on a non-rooted device? Apps that can break it down? The system logs seem to reveal nothing. I hope Google is not running some sort of distributed computing app in the background. Someone must know what this is, without making wild guesses.

Hey all,
I have a 32gb quite black pixel xl (rooted)
running 7.1.1 NMF26U
all my apps/photo uploads are set to wifi only, however over the course of a morning "Android OS" chewed up 5.7GB making me owe my carrier $40 (disputing it with them atm)
I havent installed anything recently, especially anything that needs root access, i really only have it rooted for adaway.
Here is some screenshots of my mobile data usage, i really have no idea what couls have chewed it up, its the first time any android phone has done this to me.
