My note 4 has been stuck in 3g since last night. It just switched on its own automatically. I don't think it's my area as I've been getting 4G where I live for over a year and my wife has an iPhone 4 and it's still getting 4g.
I'm wondering if Verizon is throttling my speed because I'm on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
I've ready tried taking the battery and Sim card out and letting the phone sit for 10 minutes but that didn't do anything.
I've also tried switching the network from global to lte/cdma, but thay also didn't work.
I'm worried that if I have to get a new Sim card thay I might lose my unlimited data.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
My note 4 does this sometimes. What has worked for me was enabling airplane mode and then disabling it. It forces the cell connection to the tower to renew.

No LTE in my area of California here in Rancho Cucamonga so when im in Orange County I love to run speed test to test out the LTE speeds. Ive been doing this from back when I had my Note 1. The speeds in the Irvine area were up to 22mbps+ on the Note 1. Finally had the chance to take my Note 2 into a LTE area and was completely taken back by the fact that on my first test I maxed out at 11Mbps then had zero data never reaching 1Mbps all day. Did a battery pop, reset my data, also reset my APN's and still nothing over a MB. My wife's note2 on a different contract but still on ATT also had zero data not even able to pull simple web pages or even Google Play. Has anyone else experienced the same issue on their phone?

i had this problem when i first got my Note II, one minute i had data the next none at all, ended up going back to ATT and having them replace the phone and the sim. the guy at the store said it was probably a bad sim but since he was a friend he replaced everything for me. I suggest taking both and getting new sims to see if that fixes your problems if that doesnt work then new phones with the new sims
This sounds somewhat like issue i am having. I show some bars and 4g data but when i goto use the data it disconnects. I was thinking this was a problem of weak lte signal and not dropping down to 3g properly, now i think it could be worth a sim swap. The areas i have experienced no data are areas that worked fine on my iphone4.

I regularly lose data on my G3.
The 4G LTE icon is still there, but i would only get upload arrow blinking, giving me no access to internet.
if I reset the phone i get my data back, or i could just go in and out of the airplane mode.
any thoughts on this ?
both me and wife's phone has this problem, as well as 2 of my friend's.

From an earlier thread...
http://www.tmonews.com/2014/07/t-mobile-lte-network-stalling-or-dropping-out-youre-not-alone/
This happens on my m8 as well. Its a network issue.
discussed here as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/help/intermittent-data-drops-t2825961
I don't know it's whether handset or network, but the situation isn't much annoying as it used to be with Note 3 in NYC.
With Note 3, I have to toggle few times a day, but with G3, I don't remember how many times doing this.
I can confirm the same thing with both my white G3 and my wife's white G3, they both just lose data connection with no traffic being sent or received, despite having a -59dbm for our signal at home!
I confirmed on both devices that no data was being sent with the Internet Speed Meter Lite, showing no traffic on the data connection, but active LTE connections on both.
As mentioned by others, pushing them into Airplane Mode and then back gets the data flowing again, but it does stop again later in the day. But they both don't lost connection at the same time (though it has happened several times of both at the same time), one will have an active connection while the other would not.
This seems to be a handshake issue, whether the handshake is expiring or is not accepting possibly.
It's also happens throughout NYC with us, at home, midtown Manhattan, Queens, etc with no known symptoms to cause it or time issues, such as every hour or so, or amount of traffic. Whether constant streaming or just idling, the data connection just dies out.
Happens on my note 2 as well, it's T-Mobile. It will be a while until their network is stable. Last year I went through 6 month of 2G speed on a 4G network because they are upgrading to lte

Thanks for that info, I just came over to T-Mobile after 10yrs with Sprint just last week, so this is my first experience with LTE on T-Mo, so I wasn't sure if it was the G3 or T-Mo.
But, I have other co-workers who have had LTE on their T-Mo phones since this time last year. The fact that T-Mo might still be having problems with their LTE service for this long should be something fixed already. Unless they're getting around to it with their Wideband LTE upgrades.
hello, I am a sprint user since January 2015 once I got the phone I immediately rooted it and installed galaxy tools so I will be able to activate the native hotspot feature. for 2 months now my speeds where fantastic bUT for one week now my speeds on the phone R the way the where but tethering speeds have gone down to 0.5 Mbps .
I contacted sprint and asked for my MSL code number and I was able to get the code.I have changed the dss and all the throttle and my speeds on the phone have improved but nothing happened for the tethering speed.
my question is is sprint able to throttle down only the hot spot speed and if so what can I do to get my old speeds?
Pay 4 tethering....[emoji23]
Maybe they are catching on people stealing a service

I suspect throttling myself but if you reboot your phone the connection usually improves. Each time the data flow chokes... REBOOT. Other than that, Sprint is working on the network/cell sites all the time and you might have to give it a few days for it to go back to normal. For example the last couple of days I have had trouble keeping a LTE signal and tethering has been acting up as well. At times it's great and other times it's not. It's been this way for me for a long time... not just the note 4 but also with the S3 and the Note 2 as well. Ofcourse the Note 4 works with the Sprint Spark network and they're constantly working on the network everywhere. I've yet to figure out how come Sprint isn't able to "fix" the network and make tthings work dependably after a few years now. You'd think after "working on the network" for three years, they might have something respectable accomplished... but that's not the case. They can work on the network for the next ten years and it will still be subpar to pre-paid data service. That's just a shame. But when it does work well, it's definetely good enough for me especially with an unlimited plan. LOL
I've personally haven't had issues with throttle. I did however get a termination letter for using a lot of data. Which i called them about, nothing happened. I did have the unlimited all plan.

If you don't mind how much data did you use? Typically the only time you get a termination letter is when you use excess of 800mb of data while roaming. I have used over 200gb of data on my note 3 for months in a row (was over the summer in florida where LTE was amazing) and never gotten said letter. However someone I knew had used about 1.2gb while roaming (the contract I believe says 800mb allotted while roaming domestically) and got the same letter a week later.

I think it was around 300gb, but not roaming. It was all on sprint network. They knew they were wrong to send that, they didn't act upon the letter. Last year the service around my work place gotten real bad. I was pretty angry about it. So I flashed the Verizon prl and used about 100gb of roaming 3g data. Never got anything either, I was trying to get kicked out. So, long story short, I am still with sprint. Actually their service has improved greatly in Chicago land area.
I tether all the time multiple devices, never slows down. Tethering at LTE speeds when I need it. I use a ton of data, we all do, all 4 lines. Never had a letter, notice etc. Sprint rocks in my area!

Speed up the data? I want to know TOO!
I never seem to have LTE Hotspot throttling issues here. Using Speedtest.net I actually get consistently faster results on my tethered devices than I do on the Note 4 alone. I usually see between 6-9mbps on phone, and 12-17 mbps on tether! And these results are only with 2-3 signal bars LTE service at my home. This Note 4 with spark puts my old S3 to shame. I think Sprint has actually improved their network in Southern California quite a bit! Spark is much faster than the old regular LTE and seems to hold a lock on the signal much better.
I have a note 4 from att running 6.0.1. Recently the Internet (mobile not WiFi) would start cutting out and completely losing service for no reason every 5 minutes or so. Very agitating if I'm trying to watch a video or do anything on the internet, really. Anyways, I am using Cricket Wireless, which is a subsidiary of ATT. I tried out an ATT sim card as well and the issue is still present. I factory reset my phone and it's still doing it. However, if I ender the developers code into the dialer and brought up mobile network information, I could set the phone to use GSM/CDMA only (no LTE) and the issue went away completely. But now, I have much slower speeds than if I were to be using LTE which kinda sucks. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
Anyone on cricket wireless? WiFi calling is rolling out... I never got VoLTE on my note 4, so I assumed is never hey WiFi calling. Already switched to att prepaid. ..
If anyone gets WiFi calling to work on an att device, please let me know.
My WiFi calling works on my stock Note 4 on AT&T. It took a while to get it setup. I had to change SIM cards because I was using my old SIM from the Note 2. With the new SIM, the tech at AT&T said they had to make sure my account has the WiFi Calling provisions. They turned it on. I had to wait about 10 minutes for it to take effect and the prompt went past the "Ooops..." message when setting up WiFi Calling. After that, I was able to enter my Address. I didn't test it until 3 or 4 days later. A friend on a Verizon iPhone called me (he's connected to his home WiFi) and WOW, the call clarity was high definition!
A few days later, my Note 4 battery died so I had to buy a battery replacement. I switched back to my Note 2 using the same (Note 4) SIM for 3 days. Of course, Note 2 has no WiFi calling. When I got my battery and switch back to the Note 4, I had to do the steps above again. (Switching phones might have removed that provision). I got WiFi Calling working once again.
EDIT: I'm not on AT&T Pre-Paid. I'm on the 1GB Mobile Share plan. (Yes, 1 GB...believe it or not, I only use about 500MB of data every month! I'm always on WiFi at home, work, gym, etc.)
I really wanted to get Wi-Fi calling on my note 4 on ATT network. Unfortunately I'm on prepaid plan and they told me this feature only available with contract
I'm on prepaid, I'm hoping att changes their mind on this...
