(q) htc desire 816 dual sim helpppppp - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello every body ...
i have an htc desire 816 dual sim and that all i know about it
i flashed a custom rom ( insert coin ) and its not working good with me
i want to go back to stock rom kitkat
plz help me i searched all over the internet and i found nothing helpfull
the bootloader is unlocked and s-on

If you took the back up before flashing custom rom via custom recovery, you could restore stock rom from it. Otherwise you'll have to find stock ruu for your model, unroot, flash stock recovery, relock bootloader and then flash the ruu.

You might be able to find the back up online and restore from it as well. Good luck!

I flash cy mode recovery and then install cy mod 12 on the phone
Hopefully it will have some thing better with days :')
I didn't find any stock ruu for my model

What rom were you on to begin with
Were you on stock rom/recovery and did the Ota update Stage fright patch or were you on custom rom with CWM recovery and tried a CM update before you were stuck on start screen bootloader?

I was on stock rom but my phone was cwm installed and bootloader unlocked. xposed was also installed there. When i found the update notification i deleted xposed from the apps then i flashed my recovery with a stock recovery that i have the backup in cwm. then i relocked the bootloader. i make it to download again and installed the update. there it happened all these issues
I had similar issue
I did the same thing but had TWRP as my custom recovery. I found a zip file for my stock recovery and uprooted through supers app then tried to run the Stage fright update. It would just reboot without being updated so I then tried to install a zip file of the stock update through stock recovery but it said my phone was a5_dug version and is not its a5_chl so I just stopped trying and deleted the update file. My point is that something is seeing off this update to phones that have had modified recoveries at one time. Even my stock recovery had to be entered differently than original due to a red triangle showing up and having to hold volume button then few seconds later hit power button. I got to recovery but couldn't get the update to work. Our you on a U. S. version of a5_dwg desire? Is you are your can get the ruu " rom upgrade utility" from htc/us/roms downloads then flasg that file from your command prompt using Adb fastboot. This file wipes all partitions and rewrites every single thing back to stock from radio files to system, boot, recovery images. It's possible to just get the rom. Img file from this ruu by running it as an executable and when the wizard opens to run the program atop and open start menu and type in %temp% then click temp folder and look for 3 long encrypted number letter files. One of those three in a subfolder has the rom. Img file. Copy it to the ADB fastboot folder then flash that. Otherwise either flash the ruu (or run the utility exe) with your stock recovery in fastboot and that should get your back to stock everything then you can reopen bootloader, reinstall CWM and reflash superuser or superSU. If course you would try to update Stage fright before reopening bootloader and rebooting but it should work.

Also try to clear your cache and dalvik in recovery then reboot.

http://http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f485/htc-desire-816-official-stock-roms-always-updated-1948682/ this file hosting site shows to have the lollipop firmware for a5_dwg India version. Haven't tried to download it but I have gotten my own copy of stock firmware here and it matched the HTC one I got later. It's hard to find the stock a5_dwg firmware from what I've heard. You can try this if all else fails but I can only vouch for the firmware I downloaded.

Back to stock

Hello ..
I have an 4g lte desire 816 .. And
Its A5_ul pvt s-on
Relocked bootloader and rooted ..
Need to flash stock rom .. Please give me steps and download link ..
No need to relock bootloader or unrooted...as the ota update will still run as long as youve flash the stock recovery image that came along with it...get it from the ota update zip folder...how?..when prompt for install update select later...then copy the ota zip to pc and extract it...then find firmware.zip and extract it also...then find the recovery.img and copy it for flashing via whatever method you like...after reboot and confirm that the recovery runs...wait for ota pop up installer.

If you want to flash back, the easiest way is using RUU.
And what's your hboot version?
S-ON machine can't downgrade.

[Q] Does Flashing HTC Stock Rom will Lock My bootloader again? or S-ON ?

If i flash Stock Rom.. will my phone's boot loader locked again? Or will Security revert back to S-ON ?
even if i update from OTA ? 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 ?
( i mean Not from Custom recovery or fastboot)...
No it will not change your bootloader at all. It will not put it back to S-ON, it will not LOCK/RELOCK your bootloader.
Cheers

Nothing will change it. Only if you personally use the respective fastboot commands via the PC to the phone !

This is the same question you already asked, no reason to ask it again. The answer is the same.

Bricked HTC One M8. Relocked, stock recovery, S-On, no OS

Hi guys, I was trying to get my HTC M8 back to stock from VenomOneM8 ROM.
I was using the Venom ROM earlier, but now I want to update my M8 to marshmallow.
I was trying to returning all to stock, first was flashing stock recovery, then locking the bootloader and using the RUU to return to stock.
When running the RUU, I realise that the RUU is not working because it is a different region RUU. I read a post on XDA and someone said U/UL version can use the international RUU (.401).
Are there anyways to get out of this?
My region code is .710
CID: HTC__039
It's:
Bootloader relocked
Stock recovery
S-ON
No OS
4.20.710.5
Thank you
Hi,
Did you flash the stock kernel back before you lock the bootloader?

Why would this make a difference?

If no RUU exists for your version, the proper way to return to stock would be to: unlock the bootloader again (HTCDev.com process), then use the following guide to re-install TWRP, flash stock TWRP backup 4.20.710.5, than restore corresponding stock recovery. After that, you should be able to update (assuming the update is rolling out for your version).
