Need help on marshmallow update! (HTC__044) - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! i've tried searching around but couldn't find any guides on how to convert my one M9(asia version) to dev/unlocked edition. Any idea how to do it?
I'm a total newbie when it comes to rooting/flashing stuff so if anyone can provide a clear step-by-step guide, it'll be great!
I have a M9u, CID is OPJA100(i think? its printed there my M9 box), Software number 2.11.708.27, HTC__044
S-on, not rooted, bootloader locked. Just a fresh new M9 i've gotten recently
I really wanna try out marshmallow on my M9

I suggest that you wait for the update rather than messing through all the steps cuz u know you are on official stock and unmodified version

Yeah that might be the best and safest option for me right now. Anybody knows when marshmallow will arrive for these asia variants?

If you are not S-off.You can't become a dev version now.Cause Dev version need CID and MID both right.

[Q]Desire HD Latest Software Build?[Q]

Hi there XDA, I've asked a similar question to this before, however since then some things have changed and it's got me wondering, what the hell is going on over at HTC with these software build numbers?
I recently aquired a replacement phone from Orange UK for a Desire HD. The software version on the phone I sent to them was 1.32, however the phone I recieved was running a software version of 1.72, I know for a fact that when I sent that phone to them, there were no updates available, and the thing is, it's a door to door thing. Both handsets are exactly the same, they are both de-branded yet have an Orange logo on the back.
It's sorta fustrating because I know that one of these builds i clearly the one I should have, but I don't know which is which, would someone be kind enough to explain and point me in the right direction of the ROM i should flash? Thanks, and btw im in the UK.

If you want to root etc it would be easier on the 1.32 version but is still easy to do on the 1.72 version, you just use a different approach.
All the answers you need are in the development forum. Don't need to put a link here for you, it's not hard to find. Alternatively, use the link in my sig.
What ROM you SHOULD flash is up to YOU. YOU decide what one YOU like the most.

Didn't really want a sarcastic approach to this but ok :/ I heard that the 1.72 update was pulled, I don't want a rooted phone, I want the most upto date possible...

Then be happy. The phone you got back is more up to date then the one you sent off.
Big grins yes?

Your in luck, if you do not want to root, and have a unbranded handset you can have official HTC Gingerbread. An HTC RUU with the upcoming 2.3 release was leaked.
Check THIS thread and download the RUU.exe

Not sure where you meant to post this but the highest HTC software version the vzw has is 3.X.X. There's still no software exploit for the m9 either so even if you somehow could downgrade there's nothing to downgrade for.
Thinking you are an m8 guy?

Nope not the m8 guy. i just bought my first htc phone since my last one about 12-15 years ago. i honestly did not know what to ask. that is why i am asking here. i have been a Samsung Galaxy person so long. HTC is all new to me again. I was hoping that if i could downgrade then i would be able to root my phone so there would be less headaches. I almost feel like a total noobie here.

OK. So no software exploit. There's a Java card thread in the general section where you can locate users who might be close enough to meet up or that you can ship your phone to in order to get s-off.

I don't know how you guys perform a search but when i type "htc10 2.41.401.4 ruu xda" i get several helpful posts.
Take your time and read things carefully. Do NOT perform any action before you understand what you are doing.

S-ON and Locked Bootloader want to go back to Nougat or Marshmallow

Hi everyone,
I have a red Hong Kong HTC 10 which is updated to OREO. Now the battery drain is so serious, I want to go back to Nougat or Marshmallow. Is it possible and could you pls guide a step by step for doing so?
Thanks and regards
There are 2 threads here in the guides section which cover your question extensively. Have a careful read in those 2 and it will be clear enough.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/downgrade-problems-downgrading-htc-10-t3735658/page34
That's one and it's all written out there
I have searched the whole day for Nougat RUU for my SKU Hong Kong .708 but now luck, but I do find a Marshmallow RUU.zip for it. How can I downgrade directly from Oreo to MM with this zip?
Any help would be appreciated.

Directly.........probably not. You need to take some steps, but that is all explained in the 2 dedicated threads. Please do some fine research in the downgrading thread. I think it's a bit obsolete to copy and paste the tutorials from there to here.
But as i can tell from your flashing experience i would perform a factory reset and see how that goes. Personally i think you will put yourself in a situation that the device won't work anymore.
