Hello Forum.
I want to root my phone without voiding the warranty. Preferably using TWRP Recovery and ODIN.
I came across this thread and was wondering if it is safe to do so with my variant and without voiding the warranty.

If there is a better way to go about this please share.
Thanks and Cheers!

1 month ago I bought a HTC Desire from Telus on a 3 year contract and it is running Android 2.1. I'm considering rooting the phone and would appreciate some clarification on the following questions
1) Does rooting void the warranty? I do not have any additional warranty plans above the standard manufacturer warranty
2) Is there anyway to unroot the phone and return to factory condition if I have to RMA or use my warranty?
Also would like to clarify that I have no intention of unlocking (to change networks), its just rooting.
Thanks in advance
Rooting generally void your warranty unless if you get lucky with the CSR or if the phone is completely bricked so they can't easily determine if you've modified it.
As for unrooting the Telus' Desire, there hasn't been a RUU from Telus to easily bring you back to stock conditions... but there was someone on this forum that managed revert back to stock Telus rom and a fixed recovery through a rather round-a-bout way.

if telus ever does update their software to Froyo 2.2, there will likely be a RUU posted on the HTC.ca site that you can use to get back to stock for warranty purposes, but like Celmerine said as of right now there is nothing,
Hi everyone,
I'm interested in rooting my phone and installing cm10 on it. I've read through all of the stickied posts, and watched the root/flashing videos, but things have changed since those videos came out and I'm having a hard time finding the correct answer.
My first question is regarding the use of Appdroids method of rooting. I'm using a Telus i747 and a windows PC, and am unsure whether I would be better off using his root method that does not trip the flash counter, or using the Snapdragon Toolkit, and using Triangle Away in the future if I ever need a warranty replacement.
Using the snapdragon Toolkit and TriangleAway later, will I be left with my warranty in tact? I'm assuming no traces of my rooting/flashing will be left over once I've used those two methods.
Second, in the Snapdragon Toolkit method, he mentioned that the canadian variant would be included in the future. I'm a canadian, but I'm using the i747, so in the future can I just always pretend that my phone is an AT&T phone and ignore the fact that there are canadian versions for certain root methods?
I understand that some of these have likely been answered in the past, but because I'm using a Telus phone, I've had a hard time finding all of my answers in the same place.
Thanks in advanced, and I'm excited to be a part of this community.
Not to bump or anything, but I'm really trying to figure this out before. I root tomorrow.
I've downloaded the stock Telus kernel with the root injected so I'm planning on using that method. Is there a large risk for failure using cmd to flash cwm onto the phone?
Just follow this guide directly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
most simplest and wont trip counter.
Also regarding the toolkit. All the variants are included but again, I would just flash using Robinson's method (above link) it's easy and works, better off than risking something you don't know.
Hello everyone, I bought a note II lte, I would like to know if making the root of the device, you lose the warranty?
it can be restore?
If I've got root permission i can't receive more official updates (ota)?
there is a chance to brick device performing root?
(there is a way to just root without recovery or anything? without change nothing on the phone but just root permission?)
I read Exynos abuse, those who have had esprienza could let me know if it is safe?
I'm paying dearly and in installments, so I want to risk as little as possible
Thanks in advice

If I've got root permission i can't receive more official updates (ota)? You will not receive any Official Ota if your device is modified
there is a chance to brick device performing root? Very less chances if you know how to play with your device
(there is a way to just root without recovery or anything? without change nothing on the phone but just root permission?) Yes you can root your device on Stock Recovery which gives you only full permissions.

Good morning XDA, I'm very confused about this whole Knox bootloader fiasco and rooting. I recently received a replacement note 2 from T-mobile with the knox security system installed. In the past I just would connect my device to computer flash a root injected rom and BOOM!!! I have root. The question now is can I still do that with the Knox bootloader, I'm not really concerned about warranty but I don't want to brick the device or lose the IMEI and then need the warranty. Any help greatly appreciated I was planning on using the latest ROM I believe it was posted by MrRobinson.
Thanks for your help

You can use the MK7 based root66 to achieve your goal. You will have issues if you use one from an earlier release.

Getting root in a "warranty-save" way? (Questions about rooting by a htc-usr)
Hello,
I was asked by a friend to root his Z1 compact.
I myself have a HTC m7.
I can unlock my bootloader and flash a custom recovery + rom and if I need it returning to stock recovery+rom for warranty. (Even locking and removing "tampered"-flag in my bootloader.
The later one isn't even needed, since HTC would even give support with a tampered bootloader (at least in germany and when I had to use the warranty once).
Since the device of my friend still has warranty I am unsure if I should flash a whole new prerooted rom, or just use Kingroot (+tools)...
Is there a way to unlock and flash a recovery that can be undone for the use of warranty?
I have read a little into the forum, mostly about rooting and recovery.
Dualrecovery for locked bootloader seems to be that what I searching for, I think.
But I am not sure. (for my m7 I need to unlock first before installing recovery)
This would be the way I would do it, if it meets my requierments:

Someone willing to help me with my questions? (If it would be my phone, I would just try it. January isn't far away anymore and the battery was just replaced )
Thanks
