I got a bricked galaxy s3 from a friend. It says SGH-T999 on the back. I think it's refurbished because the battery compartment sticker holds minimal details unlike others. It says T Mobile on the bootloop along with 4G or LTE android... But when I took it apart. It says i747 in two places like the At&T models. And the metal prongs lign up with att. Odin fails every time, for every model I've tried. Recovery DOSENT work it says recovery in blue for one second and boot loops again.
How do I identify this device. And at last fix it?? Thanks!
If you can get into download mode, look for the model # at the top of the screen.

I literally just got back my phone from Samsung support after this happen to me. Wifi just sits there saying "turning on wireless" but never does and never even makes it to showing you any available wireless networks so you can choose to connect right???
I tried flashing radios and all kinds of 4.03/4 and JB roms... it was no help (although I see the phone came back to me with 4.01/ITL41F and radio KK1 on it). To make things worse I have a international Galaxy Nexus and Samsung USA will not do warranty repairs for international devices. Lucky the vendor I buy from has a good buyer relationship with his international supplier and they handled it for me.
Just noticed you said stock so the following may not apply:
My advice is to backup your phone, wipe it, flash back to a stock roms, re-lock the bootloader and call in to Samsung USA then send it in for warranty repair. You can do all of that with the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit. It took 14 days in my case to get my phone back. It should take less if your Galaxy Nexus is a US version.
I just got a used S4 from eBay for my wife and it's lighter than mine that I got at launch.
Both have T-Mobile on the back and they seem pretty much identical but after the serial number mine says 13.04 and the newer one says 13.05. Additionally, the eBay listing says it is blue but it doesn't look it. My wife says it is "gunmetal gray" but I'd say it's nearly black. I haven't seen the black version to compare it to but T-Mobile only lists white and black so that also seems weird.
Google doesn't have anything to suggest and searching the forums didn't produce anything. Has anybody heard of anything like this? Is my new S4 counterfeit or something?
Conterfits does not run on 4g lte. See if it connects to lte. And you can also verifi imei to what phone that is
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Also check to see if it's the same batteries. Some of the fake batteries are lighter than the original.
Nexus ONE
most of the weight of a phone is due to the battery. hold both in your hands and I bet u will find the missing weight.
Are you sure its tmobile? Just because it have a tmobile back doesnt mean it is.. It may be the fake S4 that is goin around online and put in a Back s4 and good to sale. Make sure what is the build number.

good afternoon all, just recently i stumbled across something that made my eyebrow raise... i has a purchased NOTE2 from ATT (I317), but a while ago it was having antenna reception issues. i got it replaced with an "ATT Refurb" unit.... heres were it gets interesting
just recently the thread was posted for the registration and get free stuff from Samsung, im sure we all tried it...
well under my battery was a sticker with a model number (SGH-I317), IMEI, SKU, and FCC ID number, but no serial?
so when registering i used the serial found on the same page as the WiFi MAC, and Samsung didn't like it?
the wife also has an ATT note 2, but weird, under her battery was all the info printed actually on the plastic?
made me wonder why i had a sticker? so i pealed it off only to find under the sticker was the stamping saying i was actually holding a (N7105) unit????
that explains why it works on ATT with out any issues, but go me thinking, does that mean i should be able t use the roms and ODIN packages from over in the N7105 forum? or has ATT flashed some kind of partition making it think its just a I317, and i could possibly brick if i try and flash N7105 stuff?
also makes me wonder if anyone else that has gotten a refurb unit has found out the same thing? and they infact have an N7105 unit too?
went a step further and booted into DL mode (power down+home+power)
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SGH-I317
CustBinDL: Yes (1 counts)
CurrBin: Custom
SysStatus: Official
maybe i answerd my own question and should stay away from N7105 flahes? darn, thought i saw freedom for a second...
N7105 and i317/i317m are pretty interchangeable. Most of the time the only problem is having modems included in the roms IIRC
There might have been a broken case and you got a international case on your at&t guts, which is why they slapped on a sticker.
I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to how I should proceed. I purchased a close to mint s4 that didnt read the sim card. It was cheap and I needed a screen for my s4 that I cracked. I tinkered with it a bit before tearing it down and other than no sim error the phone seemed to work flawless. When I did the tear down I noticed the internal screen housing was i337 stamped. The circuit board for the charging port was as well. The mainboard was stamped i337/m919 but the sim slot was stamped gt-19505. the imei on the sticker doesnt match whats in the settings. The sticker says tmobile but a search of phone info online shows the imei in the settings is from a i337. Does anyone know if this may be a possible flash thats wrong and the board was actually at&t? I'm aware you can change the meid easily and that may be it as well but im hoping maybe there is some software I can push to read if this is the case. I did order a sim slot to put in this evening and see if the slot is just bad. My old screen is not cracked bad and works without any issue so I would like to get it resolved and just resale it for parts on ebay is my plan if I can get the phone straightened out.
tldr-will flashing at&t rom brick the tmobile since the hardware is basically identical? Is there any way to tell if the wrong rom has been flashed to the board?
Booting into dl mode shows m919 and that knox hasnt been tripped. write protection enabled and emmc burst mode is enabled so I'm going to assume its not been flashed.
Hey guys i have been through hell and back with my wife's s3, i recently hard bricked it and try a a method or two and just gave up cause she needed her phone asap.so i got this bright idea..
I had my old s3 with broken led screen laying around so i took it to a shop near me and had them put in the guts from my old one in to my wifes s3 body..now everything seemed to work it powered on i can make phone calls and text but have no data..i get error message to insert sim..but as u guys know sprint s3 does not have a sim card slot to do that..where did i go wrong?..or was it something that the shop did?
