S pen button quit launching air view - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

It launched when It is removed but when i press the button after to launch nothing happens. Sometimes It says snote quit working. But nothing pops up. Rooted, lolipop. Any ideas? Or a floating air view launcher?
Edit. I should have done more research. The new way the s pen works on lolipoop is that you click the button once while holding over the screen. On my old firmware \softwear\rom\whatever I had to hold the button down while hovering. Assuming that your s pen setting like air command and air view are on, click the button once (quickly) and release. Having the pointer on seems to help responsiveness but doesnt seem necessary.

[Q] How to reset Capacitive Home button?

I accepted the OTA update this morning, and after all was set and done, the only different thing I noticed was that the home button/screen is not working as it was before the update.
Long press the button and brings the task manager screen that's ok, but if I'm at the main/home or any other screen and double tap the capacitive button nothing happens, before it would show all 7 pages in small size. Is there a way to restore this function?
Try pinching the home sceen.

Thanks for the reply, pinching the screen does make it to show all screens but still the home button doesn't, I don't know if I changed something by accident.

Problems with using home button and keyboard

Hi I have a weird problem, was wondering if anyone else has experienced or knows how I can fix:
It is as if there is a line in the middle of the of the screen going up, from the home button, and pressing anywhere on this vertical line does not register.
The soft home button won't work at all. No problem with the back and multitasking buttons.
Also, the middle of the keyboard, above the home button also does not work. When trying to type an SMS, I cannot press G or V, instead it thinks by fat fingers want a key on either side of G or V. If I use my pinkie finger and specifically press G or V, it does not register at all.
This also means in the Sense UI it is also very difficult to get into the Apps screen as the button is directly on that vertical line.
I am still running stock ROM. I have tried a complete wipe, with no effect.
"Show Touches" is enabled, and it is definitely registering the touches that are just to the side of the imaginery centre vertical line.

Rooting probably won't help, my guess is that your digitizer is dead. I would recommend taking it back to the store and asking for a new one.

S Pen Question

Hey guys,
Is there a way to completely disable the S Pen to not write/do anything when it is in the air? It drives me nuts cause i can't control it and just scribbles or clicks on things when i don't want it to. I really just want it to click and do things when it is on screen..
Cheers in advance
simple, return it for a warranty
S-Pen
Hi
Go to ‘Setting’ - ‘S-Pen’ and turn off ‘Air view’.
A question to you: Do you have the problem that I have? If the phone goes into sleep whilst I'm reading something (this only happens at night when the ‘stay awake’ camera doesn't see me) and I wake the phone with the home button I go to the home screen and not to the last viewed p-ge. The only way I get to the last viewed page is if I wake the phone with the power putton.
Pressing the home button, just wakes the phone does not take me to the home screen. May its the app you are using, I am reading a PDF using Polaris.

This problem occurs if you freeze S-voice or disable the "Open via home key" in S-voice settings. You can unfreeze s-voice or re-enable the open via home button to get rid of the problem.
It's annoying, I know. Happens to me as well, since I disabled the double click to open s-voice because it induces a lag in the home button.

I've turned that off already. It still doing it though
The tip of your spen is stuck in, most likely. I saw a video of a guy tapping the end of his spen to unstick it, kind of swinging it. Best to get it replaced though.

Possible solution
This is a solution to the infamous S-Pen hover/pressing problem (where it will register a press when it's not touching the screen!)
I tried turning off air view, tried tapping and moving the pressure sensor tip... nothing seemed to fix it properly .. nothing except adjusting the potentiometers in the s-pen
The rough guide:
1. Remove the button from the s-pen (a sharp blade in the middle and levering up should do remove it but be careful it doesn't fly off somewhere unknown!.
2. Adjust the potentiometer (variable resistor) closest to the stylus tip (the writing bit). Turn it clockwise to make it less sensitive and CCW to increase it. A few degrees should be enough.
3. Replace the button - put the tongue side in towards the stylus tip and then rest the button on the stylus. Press the raised end towards the tip and down.
Test (actually you might want to test it before you do step 3!)
A big thanks to kevie88 on YouTube for suggesting it in a comment - a quick web search seemed to confirm it. I made a how to video that might help someone.
I called Samsung support and they are sending me a new s-pen anyway so I thought the above method was worth a go

Disable button on stylus

I forget the name of the button on the stylus that launches the wheel thingy, but it would be great it it could be disable completely. I use Lecturenotes and it's great that I can disable the wheel pop up, but I can't disable the button completely it seems. So if I am writing and I accidentally press it ( which happens all the time) at least the wheel pop up doesn't appear, but the word I am currently writing does disappear and I have to constantly write it again. I have the Bamboo Feel as well and it's awesome ergonomically speaking, but again it's the same thing. I tend to squeeze tightly when I write and I don't know that I can train myself to not accidentally push the button on the stylus. Would be nice if it could just be completely disabled.
I'm actually interested in this too, drives me nuts sometimes
Same here, I think it was put in a very bad location on the stylus.

Just go to Settings and in the tab Controls look for the S pen menu.
There you can disable the air command
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Edition 2014
yeah, that stops the pen from bringing up the menu when you press the button but what we are looking for is what disables the pen button completely. So like, when you are writing the pen doesn't automatically switch into a select mode because you hit the button with your finger.
@arcadiua, JarkMackson & FLGibsonJr: This Samsung-specific functionality is provided by the system, no app can interfere here, as these touch events are not send to the app. I know of LectureNotes' users that have broken the S-pen button to circumvent the problem (either of the original or a second S-pen), but there are less destructive options, for instance to use a different stylus or to place the S-pen inside a `holder´ (which has the pleasant side-effect of increasing the S-pen size to that of a normal pencil).
if you don't mind a permanent solution. just pop off the button - it's pretty easy if you use a razor, just have something to catch the button when you pop it off. you should be able to then modify the button to not push the clicky thing.
while you're in there, you see to pots that you can turn to modify the sensitivity and offset of the pen if you're having any problems with them. i had posted a tutorial in the OG note 10 forum.

It worked!!! Just popped the button off with a razor, and then used that same razor to saw off the little nub at the end of the button that apparently would signal the button press, and then popped the button back on.
No more brief loss of the ability to write when I am in the middle of teaching.
Thank you!
jesus, thats super annoying. I need an eraser button for drawing. Looks like i need to buy a damn 3rd party stylus. Would be nice if the 10.1 at least supported tilt, then it would be worth dropping some money on an intuos pro pen...
I also use Lecture Notes as a student however I love using the stylus button. Lecture notes has the capability of using a single click as an eraser and a double click as undo.
BUT the most recent update has prevented me from using this feature any longer..
Now, every time you click the button it brings up the Air Command wheel and there is no option to turn it off.
Doesn't look like there is a workaround for this.. is there any way I could bring this up somewhere to raise awareness to the devs so they can enable an option to turn it off?
@mojo_jodroid: If you cannot disable `AirView´, the stylus button click is processed by Android/`AirView´ and does not reach LectureNotes.

i'm not sure what you mean by "the stylus button click is processed by android/android..."
@mojo_jodroid: It means that the input event `user presses stylus button´ is intercepted by Android/`AirView´ and removed from input processing (as if it never happened).

[Q] Home button shortcuts- not working

Every time I hold the home button down, the shortcuts used to come up for google now, quick memo, and voice control. I would use it often in order to get screenshots without having to use the back physical buttons. now whenever I hold down the home button, it takes me straight to google search and the shortcut icons don't even show up! is there are way to reset this or make them come up again?
I had downloaded nova and downloaded screen off, so maybe that messed it up; i've since deleted nova and screen off.
Keep your finger held down and then drag up. Yes it takes you straight to Google now but don't lift your finger. After Google now pops up drag your finger up.
