T210 touchscreen inop when booted after plugging in charger - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am resurrecting a t210 that I unlocked a while ago and installed Nolekat 2.1. I noticed something while fiddling with it that if the device is powered on by plugging in the charger the touchscreen won't work. I seem to remember that it might need a firmware upgrade but I can't find any info on that. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

AT&T Tab Black Screen/White Line During Bootup Fixed

I took my stock AT&T tab and wiped it then flashed Roto JME-4. When I rebooted, I had a black screen for about 60 seconds, with a skinny white line, and I could hear the samsung music. After about 1.5 minutes, I pressed the power key, and screen went totally black - no line. Then I pushed power again, and everything was normal after that, unless I rebooted.
Anyway, here is it fix:
1) go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899196 and download the jj4bootloader.zip file
2) use odin to flash the unzipped jj4 file. It goes in PDA and nothing else in any options.
3) upon reboot, you will have a 100% normal startup with logo and music.
I used the Bootloader Patch app to check this, and it reports it is safe, and that I can flash anything.
Thanks to Roto, Chain Fire, and alexnoalex
Ok, so, just to be sure I'm not going to break my Tab, doing this ONLY changes/fixes the boot animation etc. (get's rid of the AT&T stuff, and puts in the Samsung stuff).
To be clear, I just flashed Roto's latest Euro firmware (Baseband P1000XXJMA, Build FROYO.XXJME), so performing this fix won't affect/change ony of this stuff right?
If I have to re-flash everyting from scratch, then it's really more trouble than it's worth (Blank screen at bootup? Big deal... It's just at boot right? Everything else works perfectly!)
I wish rotohammer and other rom devs would include this information clearly in their initial posts. Took me awhile to find this fix but it works well. This is also important because you can't see the recovery screen without it.

This is just a quick 30 second flash thru odin, it only repairs the black screen, and doesn't touch anything else!
The developers took out the sound and logo to make the rom file size correct.
That's just the answer I was looking for! Thank you good sir!
Glad I could help.
Hello, I have the same problem but I cannot flash the zip file because my computer doesn't detect the tab when I'm in download mode. I tried updating the drivers and software and it still doesn't want to detect it. I cannot get into recovery mode because of the black screen/white line. Do you know what I can do to get my computer to detect my TAB? I tried searching the forum but could not find any info that helped. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Are you using windows xp, or 7? Put the tab in download mode before you connect to the computer. Is your tab set to usb debugging mode?
I used Win XP, Windows 7 x64 and x86, non of them worked. They can detect my Galaxy S I9000 phone but not my TAB. Yes, I tried it with both debugging on and off, it still doesn't work. Could it be the kernal's fault? Maybe the cable? It will charge the TAB but for some reason my computer won't detect it.
Try different usb cables and ports on the computer.
I tried a different wire and usb ports and it's still not working. I just realized the TAB is not charging anymore. It doesn't make the charging sound when I plug it in. Figured out it's not the cable because it worked on another TAB. Could it be the firmware or kernal?
Not charging when plugged in the computer, or in the wall outlet? Plug it in the wall for at least for hours to get a full charge.
It charges if I plug it into the wall but its very slow like when you charge it via usb. Im using the original charger and cable. There is an x next to the charging/lightening icon on the top when I plug it into the wall and computer.
Just let it charge all night. Be sure its off when charging.
What's the point of having it fully charged? How will that help? My computer still won't detect it even if it's fully charged. I need help to get my computer to detect it so I can restore the original firmware.
I have seen five problems like yours, and after a complete charge, then reboot the phone into download mode, the problem cleared up. They used a different usb port also.
Go to windows update and update your pc.
Look a few threads further down named «help help help»
Ok its currently 50% now. Ill let you know once its fully charged. Thanks for your help so far.
Its 100% and my computer still doesn't detect it. Now what?
Did you have a chance to see the thread “help help help"?
This will sound crazy, but double check your cable - recently someone had the same trouble, because they had dust in the cable connector.
I cannot see the thread you're referring to.
Yes, I did tried a different cable and it's still the same.

N7105 Unconventional USB Problem. Please help!

Hi all. I have had a poke around the internet but cannot find a solution to this problem, bar one, which didn't work.
Model: N-7105
Carrier: Vodafone NZ (sim is in s4 now)
Firmware: None yet
Recovery: Philz touch 5.15.0
Brief description: Won't accept a charge or communicate with any pc, including adb, but can flash things through odin.
My N7105 has been sitting in my draw for about a year and the problem is bugging me again.
I had rooted it one day when I didn't really know what I was doing. I had used the CORRECT version of cf-auto root at the time, but it randomly stopped accepting a charge about a week later. Since I'd rooted my s3 and my other s3 before that, I was sure that it was the micro-usb port and not my root procedure. I ordered a new usb module and put it in, only to find it still not working.
I fooled around with different firmware/recovery programs, but nothing is working and the battery is now completely flat. I can still get it to do things by awkwardly pushing my s4 battery against the 3 pins on the phone and holding it there. The battery for the note charges when inserted into my s4. It's also worth noting that I've tried different chargers and cables, all OEM samsung products.
So the phone will boot normally with ROMS on it. When booted, the phone doesn't see the computer/charger or interact with it, and sideload doesn't work with the recovery. I install the ROM's via my micro sd in the recovery. Odin, however, mysteriously seems to be able to see the phone in download mode and I can the recovery programs to it from that.
Has anyone seen this before and seen a fix for it? Do you think it could still be hardware?
I'm curious about the Bootloader, phone and csc buttons in odin, any files that could bring me out of this hole?
Thank you for your time!

Please help. Phone wont connect to Computer. Ive tried everything

Hi Guys
I hope someone can help me I have a very strange problem. My galaxy note 2 is not detected by my computer at all (Not a driver issue, not seen at all) It charges fine.
Things I've tried so far are 3 different cables,
Two different Computers,
Reset phone to stock out of box state.
And the one that gets me the most is I even changed the whole USB board assembly. (I was sure it had to be a broken USB port
Still no joy.
The problem now is if I can't connect it to my computer I can't reroot through Odin.
Any Ideas?
Also is it possible to root phone again from stock without connecting USB to PC.
Thanks in advance.
USB port not conecting to pc SPH L900 note 2

GT-N5100 not charging

Sorry guys, noob here.
Started with the USB not being promptly recognized by my PC, but after some reconnections it worked.
So, one day ago, I installed TWRP via heimdall suite and flashed the last stable Cyanogenmod 12.1 for GT-N5100, following all the instructions. For my surprise, the tablet doesn't charge with any type of source. Tried lots of cables and adapters and nothing.
I returned to stock ROM, 4.4.2, but the same problem remains.
What I found is that somehow it start recharging when plugged for some time, but only some few %, and the tablet is readily recognized via USB when on download mode. So, it's not a hardware issue.
Someone, please help me.

I think you have system corruption from kernels. I have experienced various issues around power with the note 8.0... all of which were from various kernel loads effecting low level device operation. Unfortunately there is no reset button or easy access to clean out the corruption.
You can remove the battery connection and wait a few minutes. Then connect and go into download mode and flash a stock rom. Then boot to setup and finalize your installation. Check and see if it will charge and properly function with power off and reboot options from the power menu.
If so flash a recovery, and wipe completly and flash your ROM of choice. If you choose a custom kernel outside of the ROM package, that may be done on top of the ROM load, to assist in a clean and trouble free ROM install.

Tried exactly what you said: Opened it, removed the battery for a while, flashed the stock rom via Odin and factory reseted. Nothing changes.
Doesn't charge anyway. It's recognized when in download mode, though.
With 16% battery right now. If it drop to 0%, that means gameover? Or can i charge while on download mode (odin mode)?
Can't I flash TWRP and then install a custom kernel from there?
Thanks, dude.
I use Philz Recovery, as had issues with TWRP long ago and gave up once I tried Philz.
I would have done a full wipe and reset in philz.
You can charge in Philz and in Download mode, once you are able to get the phone to reset the power mode by the kernel flash.
One thing I think may be your issue... the USB connector may be bad. All you need is the voltage pin to go bad. Data will operate without voltage for powering the device.
Removing the USB board and lightly compress the top and bottom of the connectors frame, so that your cable end fits snug. Had to do that a few years ago when a cable end stretched it out after a few uses. Did not go back to using it again once I corrected the fit issue.

Tried also, without response.
It really doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
Right now I plugged into the charger and there you go: Charging!!
I don't know what I did different, but it's working, at least for a while. Probably it will not fully charge, but ok.
I remembered that, prior to flashing TWRP+CM12.1, I got constant pop-ups about Power Sharing. Reading some forums, some guys experienced the same problem with this feature and them their phones stopped charging. Some reported that a factory reset solved, which is not my case.
I will keep posting what I did and if I find something that solves, it may help someone who's stuck with the same error.
Anyway, thanks so much, gooberdude.
(And sorry for my lame grammar.. writing is much harder than reading and listening english)

no luck... even after flashing stock 4.4.2 tab is not charging not even in download mode... any suggestion please hlep..!!!

Hello
My N5100 faces the same problem of charging as this thread.
Could you put in details about your status of N5100
- Your regional model: Ex: EU, America, Asia....?
- Your Tab is working fine until today, doesnt it?
- If it's working fine , what was ROM you are using currently?
- What did Recovery you use to flash ROM?
Thank you so much
Hello my tab has a charging problem too it started with not being recognised when I plug to my computer. When I plug to a power source it charges sometimes other times it just doesn't and I'm certain the charger isn't the problem

SM-T800 Wi-fi version charging issues

Hi,
I am trying to troubleshoot my dad's samsung SM-T800 10.5 tab S Wi-Fi version. The tablet is on 6.0.1 at the moment. My dad got a message informing him that a battery power app needed to be installed in order to appropriately use the battery power and further allow him to use the tablet properly while the battery is being charged. Due to the official looks of this message, my dad went ahead and installed the app on this tablet. After some time, he realized that he might have made a mistake by installing this, so in panic he went ahead and uninstalled this application and ever since then the problems with charging have started.
here is the current state of the tablet:
The tablet is not being recognized by 2 computers so far, both of them running windows 7. I get a message saying "USB device not recognized"
It seems like the battery on the tablet is only being charged by the computer's usb connection (i see the % next to the battery icon go up)
If i plug the tablet into the wall, the lighting bolt shows up on the battery icon, but the battery starts to discharge instead of charging
Below are the things i have tried as part of my investigation:
I have completely wiped this device clean and done a full factory reset.
I own the same tablet as my dad, only exception is that i am running os 5.0.1 on mine. I have taken apart both tablet's and swapped the battery's to see if there is something wrong with my dad's tablet battery. But when the battery is plugged into my own tablet, the battery charges as expected.
I have tried putting my battery in my dad's tablet, and that also seems to charge just fine.
My dad doesnt recall when/how his tablet got upgraded to os 6.0.1 but im starting to think that the problems listed above might be due to os 6.0.1?
Questions:
I would like to downgrade the OS from 6.0.1 to 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 but since i am unable to get the tablet to be recognized by Odin or the pc despite installing Kies and Samsung USB drivers, is there any other way to downgrade? Side note: I would not like to root this device.
Can some1 upload stock firmware for 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 on a faster host (i have started the download from samsung-updates.com, but its going to take 12+ hours. I have also tried to download via SamMobile, but their website is not allowing me to start the download)?
If there are any other things that i could try to investigate this weirdness, please let me know.
Thanks for all your input on this matter.
FI
My Tab S is current running OS 6.0.1 and don't have any issues after the update.
Since you have another tablet, try to swap the USB port flex cable. If your dad's tablet works fine after the swap, you need a new one which is around $6 on Ebay.
Be careful to flash the older OS as bootloader is different, the tablet might not able to boot after the downgrade.
