SM-T800 Wi-fi version charging issues - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am trying to troubleshoot my dad's samsung SM-T800 10.5 tab S Wi-Fi version. The tablet is on 6.0.1 at the moment. My dad got a message informing him that a battery power app needed to be installed in order to appropriately use the battery power and further allow him to use the tablet properly while the battery is being charged. Due to the official looks of this message, my dad went ahead and installed the app on this tablet. After some time, he realized that he might have made a mistake by installing this, so in panic he went ahead and uninstalled this application and ever since then the problems with charging have started.
here is the current state of the tablet:
The tablet is not being recognized by 2 computers so far, both of them running windows 7. I get a message saying "USB device not recognized"
It seems like the battery on the tablet is only being charged by the computer's usb connection (i see the % next to the battery icon go up)
If i plug the tablet into the wall, the lighting bolt shows up on the battery icon, but the battery starts to discharge instead of charging
Below are the things i have tried as part of my investigation:
I have completely wiped this device clean and done a full factory reset.
I own the same tablet as my dad, only exception is that i am running os 5.0.1 on mine. I have taken apart both tablet's and swapped the battery's to see if there is something wrong with my dad's tablet battery. But when the battery is plugged into my own tablet, the battery charges as expected.
I have tried putting my battery in my dad's tablet, and that also seems to charge just fine.
My dad doesnt recall when/how his tablet got upgraded to os 6.0.1 but im starting to think that the problems listed above might be due to os 6.0.1?
Questions:
I would like to downgrade the OS from 6.0.1 to 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 but since i am unable to get the tablet to be recognized by Odin or the pc despite installing Kies and Samsung USB drivers, is there any other way to downgrade? Side note: I would not like to root this device.
Can some1 upload stock firmware for 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 on a faster host (i have started the download from samsung-updates.com, but its going to take 12+ hours. I have also tried to download via SamMobile, but their website is not allowing me to start the download)?
If there are any other things that i could try to investigate this weirdness, please let me know.
Thanks for all your input on this matter.
FI

My Tab S is current running OS 6.0.1 and don't have any issues after the update.
Since you have another tablet, try to swap the USB port flex cable. If your dad's tablet works fine after the swap, you need a new one which is around $6 on Ebay.
Be careful to flash the older OS as bootloader is different, the tablet might not able to boot after the downgrade.

Stuck in "download mode" whenever i plug a usb

Hi i recently purchase a second hand LG-E971 (locked to rogers and not rooted).
The phone seem to be working at first but whenever
i connect the phone to the computer or charge it on the wall
it goes to "download mode" the only way to exit it is to hold pwr for 8sec.
i got all the driver installed properly in "download mode"
tried to factory reset it with E97110D_00.KDZ and E97110E_00.KDZ
with success but still having the same problem
whenever i plug a usb cable in
i installed the driver for PC
LGUnitedMobileDriver S4981MAN38AP22 ML WHQL Ver 3.8.1.exe
when i connect the phone the driver got installed automatically
but the phone doesnt connect to the PC (win7 i tried 2 different computer) in any mode it is only charging
Is there a KDZ that is already Root with CMW or TWRP that i can factory reset it?
Thank you.
I would contact rogers to get the device checker under waranty.
If you have flashed the original KDZ, you eliminate all software related issue that could've cause this. It must be an hardware issue.
i have same problem. since today whenever i plug the phone to charge it it goes to download mode.
any way to fix it? im on cm but didnt change anything recently
I would suggest to start with cleaning the USB pirt on the phone. Compressed air and a wooden toothpick will help. I had a similar problem with my old SGS2, when dirt in the socket was causing sime weird behaviour.
Worth trying before going to the service centre...
having the same issue as well..i hope there's a possible fix available.
dead thread i know but i have SOME valuable information if you have this phone lying around "dead"ish. i went through a lot of crap trying to revive my dead battery phone and i remembered, i just by chance stumbled upon a "solution" of sorts. it basically is taking out the sim card, turning on the phone WITHOUT the cable, and once it's on i can connect it again. the moment i put in a sim, the damn thing starts flaking out. i'm currently using solidkernel 1.95 gproj with cm 12.0 official nightly 10/16(2015). this had happened to me like a month and a half ago or so as well. ANYWAY, it's either a radio thing, a kernel thing, a rom thing, or a combination of the three. that would NOT explain why the phone assumes download mode has been invoked, especially given it should only happen through a special pre-boot procedure using buttons (two no less). still, it is possible that my sim slot is too dirty, or my sim itself is problematic? i don't know. what do you guys think?

N7105 Unconventional USB Problem. Please help!

Hi all. I have had a poke around the internet but cannot find a solution to this problem, bar one, which didn't work.
Model: N-7105
Carrier: Vodafone NZ (sim is in s4 now)
Firmware: None yet
Recovery: Philz touch 5.15.0
Brief description: Won't accept a charge or communicate with any pc, including adb, but can flash things through odin.
My N7105 has been sitting in my draw for about a year and the problem is bugging me again.
I had rooted it one day when I didn't really know what I was doing. I had used the CORRECT version of cf-auto root at the time, but it randomly stopped accepting a charge about a week later. Since I'd rooted my s3 and my other s3 before that, I was sure that it was the micro-usb port and not my root procedure. I ordered a new usb module and put it in, only to find it still not working.
I fooled around with different firmware/recovery programs, but nothing is working and the battery is now completely flat. I can still get it to do things by awkwardly pushing my s4 battery against the 3 pins on the phone and holding it there. The battery for the note charges when inserted into my s4. It's also worth noting that I've tried different chargers and cables, all OEM samsung products.
So the phone will boot normally with ROMS on it. When booted, the phone doesn't see the computer/charger or interact with it, and sideload doesn't work with the recovery. I install the ROM's via my micro sd in the recovery. Odin, however, mysteriously seems to be able to see the phone in download mode and I can the recovery programs to it from that.
Has anyone seen this before and seen a fix for it? Do you think it could still be hardware?
I'm curious about the Bootloader, phone and csc buttons in odin, any files that could bring me out of this hole?
Thank you for your time!

Rooted note 4 sporadic charging and no longer connects to odin

I've been rooted for several months and life was good. My charging suddenly stopped working. I'd restart the phone a couple time and it would work. Then it wouldn't work again. Went back and forth like this for a while, till finally I figured it wasn't the plug or connector (all would either work or not work, based on restarting phone, messing with battery while plugged in), but likely something more related to the software/system updates. Tried reflashing with odin to go back to stock, but can't connect. I can put my phone in download mode, but odin doesn't recognize it. I've tried every port on 2 different computers with probably 6 different cables. Tried different versions of odin. I can get the phone charging most of the time when plugged into the wall or computer, but can't be seen by odin. I've checked debugging and just did manual resets, losing all my data, but accomplishing nothing. Is there any way to go back to stock without odin? Some way to install from micro SD or something I'm not thinking of to get me connected to odin? I'm at a loss for what to do or understanding what in the world went wrong in the first place.
Additionally, I thought I'd mention the phone WILL NOT shut off either. When I power down, it restarts. I remove the battery, and as soon as I put it back in, the phone boots up again.
Based on your last paragraph, there is probably a hardware issue with the phone or micro-usb port. Load a stock rooted ROM through twrp, then unroot and bring it to a service store.
Try cleaning or blowing out the USB port. I've seen phone with lots of pocket lint packed in the USB port that exhibit the same symptoms.
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
And the plot thickens...
Tried blowing out the port. The connection seems to still be there as I can maintain power without the battery when plugged in... just can't get any computers to recognize it as a device. Took the phone to the local sprint store to see if they could do some kind of hard reset with it. Their hardware couldn't connect either. The employee tried to do a soft reset and now my phone can't escape "recovery booting." The android logo blinks with "installing system update" under it but it doesn't boot and I can no longer get into recovery mode. I can still enter download mode, but odin still doesn't see my phone. The guys at sprint really kind of screwed me there. At least I had a functional phone before they messed with it. Is there any way to put a boot program on the sd card and boot from there? If so, any ideas where to find one? I've tried searching, but as the phone is so new, there isn't a lot of help I can find in the forums. Additionally I contacted Samsung, but they won't touch it due to knox being tripped. On my backup S3 for now.
Well I threw in the towel. Sprint is replacing it with remanufactured one. If they didn't offer to replace it, I'd have kept working on it, but case closed for now.

Helpe me! =(((

Good evening guys, I have a optimus g version F180. I used it for about 7 months with the ROM STOCK, and the phone worked just right, accustomed to sleep with him carrying the same was born a few hours before I disconnect it from the charger.
One day I traveled and left loaded for 2 days plugged in ... know that these new chargers are intelligent and bla bla bla. When I went to use it again, the Androir processes began to catch (whatssapp stopped .. home..parou..camera stopped ..) until the screen went black and I just could force its shutdown by the power button.
I thought I had bricked the unit and then went by KDZ reinstall the rom and everything, first used the lg mobile tool ..and was all right, I tested some romss by KDZ (did not know who had specific version, but most gave error. .I think the size) finally managed to install a version and it got a bit stable ... but over time began to show the same problems to catch the applications of nowhere and sometimes off and so I just can not connect connecting USB to the notebook.
I learned in firmware site than the version that is installed .. F180L30b00 and right would F180L30e00.
FIRST I wonder if there are any problems in being installed F180L30b00 being recommended to be F180L30e00.?
SECOND whether these crashes and sudden shutdowns could be related to rom or battery (often just can not turn the device connecting the usb..e holding the power for a while and I realize that is when loading never happens)? the battery has already been trocada..nao is the device of origin.
third, if rom..como do for lg mobile tool recognize again? I'm using a custom AOSP rom 6.0 based on the new android..sigo the certinhos..instalo steps usb drive ... after the lg mobile and then connect in DOWNLOAD mode, it recognizes the drives, but the program does not appear the version of device and it can not continue the KDZ, there is no connection between the phone and the computer, since I do not know what faço..estou no money to exchange ..
Thank you a lot for your help

GT-N5100 not charging

Sorry guys, noob here.
Started with the USB not being promptly recognized by my PC, but after some reconnections it worked.
So, one day ago, I installed TWRP via heimdall suite and flashed the last stable Cyanogenmod 12.1 for GT-N5100, following all the instructions. For my surprise, the tablet doesn't charge with any type of source. Tried lots of cables and adapters and nothing.
I returned to stock ROM, 4.4.2, but the same problem remains.
What I found is that somehow it start recharging when plugged for some time, but only some few %, and the tablet is readily recognized via USB when on download mode. So, it's not a hardware issue.
Someone, please help me.

I think you have system corruption from kernels. I have experienced various issues around power with the note 8.0... all of which were from various kernel loads effecting low level device operation. Unfortunately there is no reset button or easy access to clean out the corruption.
You can remove the battery connection and wait a few minutes. Then connect and go into download mode and flash a stock rom. Then boot to setup and finalize your installation. Check and see if it will charge and properly function with power off and reboot options from the power menu.
If so flash a recovery, and wipe completly and flash your ROM of choice. If you choose a custom kernel outside of the ROM package, that may be done on top of the ROM load, to assist in a clean and trouble free ROM install.

Tried exactly what you said: Opened it, removed the battery for a while, flashed the stock rom via Odin and factory reseted. Nothing changes.
Doesn't charge anyway. It's recognized when in download mode, though.
With 16% battery right now. If it drop to 0%, that means gameover? Or can i charge while on download mode (odin mode)?
Can't I flash TWRP and then install a custom kernel from there?
Thanks, dude.
I use Philz Recovery, as had issues with TWRP long ago and gave up once I tried Philz.
I would have done a full wipe and reset in philz.
You can charge in Philz and in Download mode, once you are able to get the phone to reset the power mode by the kernel flash.
One thing I think may be your issue... the USB connector may be bad. All you need is the voltage pin to go bad. Data will operate without voltage for powering the device.
Removing the USB board and lightly compress the top and bottom of the connectors frame, so that your cable end fits snug. Had to do that a few years ago when a cable end stretched it out after a few uses. Did not go back to using it again once I corrected the fit issue.

Tried also, without response.
It really doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
Right now I plugged into the charger and there you go: Charging!!
I don't know what I did different, but it's working, at least for a while. Probably it will not fully charge, but ok.
I remembered that, prior to flashing TWRP+CM12.1, I got constant pop-ups about Power Sharing. Reading some forums, some guys experienced the same problem with this feature and them their phones stopped charging. Some reported that a factory reset solved, which is not my case.
I will keep posting what I did and if I find something that solves, it may help someone who's stuck with the same error.
Anyway, thanks so much, gooberdude.
(And sorry for my lame grammar.. writing is much harder than reading and listening english)
having same issue tab not charging only showing in odin mode.. i even replace the usb port part still same situation.. going to flash stock rom hope this will work for me .. i am using cm13 on twrp 3.0..
no luck... even after flashing stock 4.4.2 tab is not charging not even in download mode... any suggestion please hlep..!!!

Hello
My N5100 faces the same problem of charging as this thread.
Could you put in details about your status of N5100
- Your regional model: Ex: EU, America, Asia....?
- Your Tab is working fine until today, doesnt it?
- If it's working fine , what was ROM you are using currently?
- What did Recovery you use to flash ROM?
Thank you so much
Hello my tab has a charging problem too it started with not being recognised when I plug to my computer. When I plug to a power source it charges sometimes other times it just doesn't and I'm certain the charger isn't the problem
