Camera focus problem - Elephone P8000

Hello people. I have a little camera problem.
After a stock update to 03122015 i have noticed that my camera wont autofocus when the object is closer than about one meter or closer. Macro focus is impossible
That wouldent be a problem if i didnt buy a smart watch and i need to scan a QR code on it. And now i cant. Help people!!!! :crying:

Doesn't it focus at all or only when you're coming closer? Elephone changed the camera driver *again* in the latest OS update so it might be possible that they screwed something up.

Try a third party camera app

Tried third party app and even the super lenovo camera app. When far it acts like it focuses but it doesnt and the pic qualiti is nota like in 250172015 rom. And whwn macro it really sucks. Its blurry and it doesnt focus at all.

Yes the autofocus with the latest OTA update doesn't seem to be working well. At least not on close ups.

camera autofocus issue

can anyone get the auto focus to happen automatically on the camera? only way for me is to tap the screen or hold the capture button. just wanted to know if that is normal because what i liked about the 4s was that it would actually autofocus during camera mode. thanks
i'm finding the same type of issue lately...
every time i attempt to use the camcorder the autofocus does not function at all. i remember it did work at one point...now if i get within like 4-6 inches of anything it's blurred. and can't screen tap to focus.
frustrating.
I seem to be having the same issue lately, the camera autofocus does not appear to be working for me either. my front camera takes perfectly clear pictures but the 8 megapixel rear camera photos look horrible now. blurry blurry blurry I have tried installing a couple of different camera apk's.... going to install another 1 now and see if that changes things. if not I will soon tar back to a completely stock set up and see how the camera works .

CM 10.1 Camera quality

I think the camera quality isn't a hardware problem but a software one. E.g. in darkness the camera doesn´t turn on the light when focussing.
In system/lib/hw is a file (camera.msm.8960.so) which should be changed but i'm not able to do this. There must be played with the values. Some clever guys did this in for other phones before.
My phone before was the LG 2x and in that forum they raised quality above 200% of the original one.
I attache the file to work with. Maybe here are some insiders too.
...the only problem is that the camera does not focus when the flash comes in darkness. Or it focuses too early or too late. When you turn on the flashlight on the phone permanently and take a photo, everything is fine. The problem is in CM 10.1 and 10.2.
Isn´t here somebody who knows a trick?

In focal camera you have the option to turn on flash as a torch. I turn it on then take a picture. That fixed for me but I have to agree. The camera quality is bad. Something must be done.
Just use a 3rd party camera app.

I tried some 3rd party apps but that didn't solve the problem that the camera doesn't focus when using the flash. This seems not to be an app problem, it's in the files from the rom like I attached above.
Or do you have a suggestion for an app that solves the problem with focus in darkness?

Hmmm...as for me I don't have that issue. I am using Epsilon V3 ROM by core720, which is based on stock. For camera app, I use snap camera hdr and the new focal camera.

Ok, I tried that rom which is very great, very smooth. Nice. But the camera is still not focussing right with the stock cam or snap camera hdr in darkness at my side. It surely is not an app problem...

G3 camera with Google Camera App

Hey guys,
So who's given the G3's camera a run using Google's Camera app? I've tried it several times alongside the native camera app, and I realize that Google's Camera app doesn't seem to work as great as the native app.
It seems the laser assist autofocus does not work on Google Camera, since it takes a second or so for the camera to focus, instead of a few milliseconds with the native app.
HDR on Google Camera does not work as intended, either resulting in an image looking like normally shot or even at times darker.
Video recording using Google Camera app is limited to 1080p instead of 4K.
There is one thing positive with the Google Camera app though, and that it has a larger field of view compared to the native camera app. The Google Camera app almost makes it seem that the native camera app is zoomed a few times closer than it should be. I'll try to take a comparison shot to show you guys what I mean, but you can simply download the app and try it yourself
Next, I will try how the camera works with CameraZoom FX app.
Well that was expecting since I believe lg made things to work with stock...but let us know which third party works best!
I use the Google app for photosphere and lens blur.

Coming from an N5, I quickly got the Google Camera after getting my G3, but then realized the only reason I liked the Google Camera was because I shot everything with HDR+. I do miss that feature from the N5, since the G3 does not a good job at white balance in some lights, and HDR+ would always get me great looking photos, but could only shoot static targets and would take a while to shoot.
I also tried VSCO Cam and it doesn't offer much when it comes to camera settings, so things end up looking almost the same as stock, but with the slower focus like you mentioned.
Did someone come up with a way to change the way the stock camera oversharpens low light photos? It's pretty bad.
Has anyone tried LG Camera on the G3?

I only installed the Google Camera for photosphere. There really isn't any other reason to.
Also, I think the stock LG camera does have a lens blur effect.

Google Camera mod with HDR+

Anyone else give the modded camera a try. I just installed it & I didn't experience any issues. I'll test it some more tomorrow though

Im using Mod rom viper 10 5.1.1
Im realise that latest HTC camera for HDR+ seems like have compress picture to reduce noise in the picture same like google camera apps,
I also try modded google camera apps and the result was almost the same (noise reducing)
which version u installed guys?U have weird noise pattern in low light?
Yeah, super noisy for me too, stock cam takes way better pics.
Are you all on stock or AOSP
I've tried this on both stock and PureFusion, there's always a noise pattern but it's most noticeable in low light pics. The noise starts about 1/4 of the screen away from the home button and continues to the edge of the picture facing the selfie cam. It's only our phone that has this issue so it'll likely never be corrected.
This is somewhat disappointing, as I was hoping this would help camera quality on AOSP roms. I loved LOS, but I couldn't take a good picture to save my life. The stock sense ROM camera really makes use of that camera sensor, as it should. Still kind of bugs me the Google Camera doesn't make better use of the sensor, since it uses the same camera sensor as the 5X/6P (10 has OIS, where the 5x/6p does not), and those phones take great pictures. I know there's more to it than just "your phone has *x* sensor, so we can take some great pics". It's just a little annoying, is all.
