Hi guys,
I'm using LG G3 D855 3 GB for 3 weeks now. And what can i say it's a really crappy phone. My old nexus 5 (all stock) performed easily 2x better than this, although it has not as good internals. In the beginning i knew that LG stock rom is ****, so i immediately flashed cm 12.1 Snapshot. And guess what it didn't make a big difference! Animations are laggy, app opening is seriously slow, battery life is like 1 min 1 % SOT! When i get incoming call i need to wait a good 3 sec to screen to flash. So i started to research more i've changed res to 1080p, flashed Johns 777 kernel, put everything on performance with stock cpu clock. That evening it was ok, when i left phone overnight in the morning when i wanted to read some news phone was for ~2 min laggy as **** i could not do anything, it felt like it was clocked on 200 mhz. The fastest way is just restart it... And it happens ~2 times a day. Battery life isnt improved SOT 1min - 1%. Today i've flashed Nabula kernel, it seems to be quite snappy but not as good as my old nexus 5. It's quite odd because 3 weeks ago my N7 2013 (all stock) seemed to be slow compared to N5, but now it feels buttery smooth...
So Mentors, please advise me maybe im missing something?
Feeling quite desperate, because already sold my old N5.
Regards from Lithuania!
Cheers.
Maybe you should test the Stock Rom
Try NovaStock5.5,Cloudyg3 2.5,Fulmics these all are stock based for AOSP try XenonHD or Blisspop try one of them all are awesome & no lag at all & battery life is also good.

What ROM's are you using and what do you think has the best battery life? I love my DHD but my biggest pain with it is it's battery life, I would love to get around 15 hours of moderate-heavy use out of it, but right now I only get between 8-10 hours of it, I've tried LeeDroid, Revolution and CyanogenMod. Which custom rom do you think is best for battery life?
in my humble opinion i would say CM7... thats after a fresh flash, battery calibration, and one full charge till total discharge (sometimes i like to do it two times just to make sure the bat stats get proper readings)... Maybe its just me but i usuall get around 15-18 hours depending... I would say that i am a medium to heavy user...mainly surf the web, movies, mp3s, text, light emails and of course downloading new roms and themes to flash...
Other than cm7 i find that RCMix and revolution to be pretty decent on battery life
U can always use currency widget to determin power loss and check whats soaking up your power
I'm no expert but so far this has worked for me
i've flashed a few roms over the last few weeks and i must say that they are all pretty decent in terms of battery life. i haven't really noticed one being significantly better than the next.
i can easily kill my phone within 7-8 hours with heavy usage but i can also keep my phone going for about 30 hours with light usage and about 16 hours with moderate usage, using the same rom.
if you asked me, i think it just depends on your style of usage. perhaps this isn't the answer you're looking for but i really don't think there's one rom out there that is going to give you that edge.
If you are looking for battery, use MIUI Freshly squeezed versions...CM7 was my first ROM, I loved it but battery life was terrible.. I could hardly squeeze out 12-13 hours even on low usage..MIUI is great! I easily get 15-20 hrs plus battery on moderate usage(wifi connected most of the time, abt 30 min gaming etc)..I bet if u try u'll see the difference.....
thanks for the replies, I think you're right with how you use it. Going to try MIUI now as well

+1
but i use leedroid_hd_GB_3.0.1
Leedroid's roms always have very good battery life
Also bare in mind the radio you use has a big affect. I used the stock radio from December with Android Revolution when I first flashed it and my battery drain was extremely bad, about 15% an hour. Flashed some new radios and I get at least 18 hours before I hit 30%.
Yup radio plays a very important role.I tried 6-7 different radios before I found the right one.....

If it is not important for you to lose HTC sense, MIUI is nice in spite of the fact that it looks like too much the firmware of the iphone
CM 7.0.0 HAS a bad battery drain but its fixed in the cyanogenmod 7.0.2... now the battery works for a long time.. 24 30 hrs moderate use..
and finally if you are interested for a better battery drain try SETCPU.apk (free for XDA MEMBERS) AND configure your proccessor for a conservative work or setdown de cpu (900 mhz for example)
under my experience with the custom roms leedroid (lastest froyo 2.2.1 with leedroid kernel 2.2.9 at 960 mhz max) was provided the best battery drain
Yup MIUI does look like iOS...That was one of the reason I didn't pay much attention to it at first.
You can always use a good launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro to replace the iOS feel...I personally am a fan of Go Launcher EX...its simple n fast n serves my purpose

ouu!good idea!!! i like miui´s performance but i don´t like his app drawer hahah
Newest Android Revolution HD + matching radio.img and MDJ's kernel v8 and good SetCPU settings makes for a REALLY fast DHD ( 1.6GHz ) and great battery life, a full day with medium to heavy usage from what I've experienced so far.
Used MIUI for the last day, really impressed, except for the iPhoneish feel as been said above. Going to try the setcpu too so I can underclock
I'm using the recommended radio too, which I always make sure I do, I rely on that for improved signal as well, the reception around my place is quite dodgy. Vodafone is Australia's equivalent of AT&T in America in terms of dodgy reception ha
My DHD is now running CyanogenMod7 2.3.5 Nightly and it drains about 1% every two hours idle. I think that's good.
Can anyone make a comparison table?
ARHD 5.2.3............almost 36 hours with regular use here.............24 hours atleast..................

Same here, although needs quicker recharging when using WiFi intensely (after about 12 hours in my case.)
as i think android rev. 5.2.x ,, the greatest bettary life for me
and also i think in general sense 3 roms are very bad in bettary life

i used to get 24hours even using wifi for ARHD 5.2.3+sense 3 components.....
but now i a using some extras other than sense 3[like transparent rosie,clock....so oon]
now my battery drains fast when using wifi...like you...............................
Hey there XDA, got a question for ya.
I've had my AT&T S3 for a while now and I love the phone a lot, the only thing that is plaguing me is the battery life.
Now for a phone with dual core processors, a nice Super AMOLED screen that runs at 720, all the connections that you'd ever want, I expect it to use some battery life, but I feel like I should be doing better than I should.
When I'm browsing the internet or reddit I can watch the percentage just slowly crawl down. Within 30 min or so I've gone through 7-8% I want to say. Not 100% sure, but the numbers have been enough to make me concerned.
Currently I am running Diet ICS 08.08.12 with no major modifications other than the apps I use and Apex Launcher.
I've got my BetterBatteryStats dump and a screenshots of the battery page from System from last night. I'm attempting to use Juice Defender today (I've tried it in the past and it did alright) as well as Samgsung's battery saving mode (which seems to prevent the processor from going over 1.0 Ghz), which as of right now I'm at 36%. I feel like I can do better than that
So, thoughts? Opinions?
What kernel are you running?

I don't think Diet ICS swapped kernels, so stock as far as I'm concerned.
Alright. For stock kernel (I'm not too sure about with power saving), those numbers are fairly decent. I was able to get some better numbers on faux123's TW kernel (the 1.65ghz, not 1.85), but I can't be too sure of the exact time, as I'm currently on 1.85ghz OC, and I charge my phone nightly. You could try other kernels, and just roll back with a nandroid to this one if you do not like the difference.
Guys am almost flashing 1 or 2 roms daily, till date i experinced with 7 r 8 roms..but none of them satisfied me...some ROM had problem with the basic things like camera, camcoder and other things, some other ROMs lack in battery usage...
So can someone sheds some light on this part...
As long as you're on a new stable ROM such as ICS you're battery should be fine. JB is too early to know really but it's fantastic for me. So, assuming you're now on a stable ROM (a non Sense ROM would be better too) the problem is either your battery or you. I would recommend getting a new battery if you still have the 2 year old one the phone came with, and tbh I'd recommend getting a new Ankers 1600 mAh anyway as they're fantastic, lasts me days.
Now that you're on stable ROM and have a shiny new battery, if you're battery life is still bad then the latter problem I mentioned applies, that is, you, or rather how you are using the phone.
If, like many other Vision users I see around the forums, you are overclocked to absurd speeds well over 1GHz running the performance governor then have I got news for you of course your battery life is going to be terrible. For this reason, tbh you really don't need to go over stock clock speed and if you use the Virtuous OC daemon then you can under clock significantly when the screen is off, this saves enormous amounts of battery life.
Also if you are using the phone constantly and have the screen very bright, data on all the time etc., then you've got to accept that you simply won't last more than a day between charges.
By the way I'm not going to recommend a specific ROM because as you should know "what ROM should I get" threads are not allowed, I just wanted to give you some general battery help.
Hope this helps

Am using this ROM : [Flinny] Andromadus Test builds - CM10.1[17]
and my phone is just 40 days old... so the battery will be fine abvsly... then i wont over clock it more than 850 mhz, so it satays under stock freq. then i will be using the mobile in half brightness,, i used to hear songs nd play games lil bit... even though my battery last for jus 12-15 hrs... thats y i doubt on the ROM, but am not sure ...
I'm going to be getting the G3 Friday and enroll in the new $100 for 4 people with 10gb data plan. Wondering how do you like your guy's G3's so far? Is the battery life good? 3gb of sufficient? Does the snapdragon 801cut it for you guys?
One thing I noticed was the development for this phone is slower than other G3 phones even with an unlocked bootloader.
How do you guys like the screen? I liked it but sometimes I thought it might look washed out just slightly. And the digitizer effect is there alright. But over all its the best phone to get right now.
Also for the techies, how much vram does the adreno use out of the 3gb memory. I bet its around 512mb huh?
Battery life for me kinda blows. Screen on kills it pretty fast. Out does look amazing though. I switched from a Sony Xperia ZL. I like the G3 better but there are things I like about the ZL over the G3 and vice versa.
Get it. In my eperience the battery life is amazing. I get 30+ hours with approximately 4-4.5 hours screen on time. As you mentioned It's also arguably the best phone out atm. The screen is beautiful and nothing I've seen comes close to it (s5/m8). The only issue I've had so far is the phone getting too hot but that's probably due to the fact that I've disabled the auto brightness feature when the phone gets too hot. I may have to change that back if it occurs again. All in all I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

I got my G3 this morning along with a S4 for my wife when we switched from Verizon to TMO.
I had a S4 with Verizon and absolutely loved it. Had it running to perfection with safesterap and Echo rom v26.1............could get 36hrs between charges and I had it set up sweet
SO it took a bit to get everything set with TMO, and get all my basic apps set and my Apex launcher set before I rooted and set all the rooted apps up as well as loading the latest TWRP recovery.
I gotta say for what I have seen so far, its so fricken worth it. G3 tweakbox gives about 90% of all the customization I need....be good to throw a theme on top of some of the stock stuff but heck I can live with that.
I'll update in a couple days, but so far, I am impressed
I've had the g3 for about 4 days. Coming from Nexus 5. I don't like the default launcher so installed nova prime. Nova prime forgets its the default launcher about once a day. LG Health is nice but you have to set up a shortcut action on nova. It doesn't show up in the apps list. I installed the google keyboard but get the gapps crashed message on each reboot. I think it's because the g3 ships with 4.4.2. The screen on the g3 is really nice. The battery life may be nice. Never really left it as my regular phone line longer than a day.
I like it. I just like the nexus 5 with purity ROM more. I switch back and forth every so often. About 90% of each day I'm on the nexus 5. Is it worth the cost for 10% use? Probably not. I have about 9 days to decide whether it's worth the cost.

I got my G3 on launch day. I used the stock launcher for a day, then installed Nova. Nova has never forgotten it was the default launcher. I still use the stock keyboard. I have never received a gapps error message. The screen is awesome, but I think 1080p would have been fine, with longer battery life to boot. The G3 battery lasts a whole day, but my Note 2 went even longer. However, I am very pleased with the G3 and plan to keep it. It will only get better as development expands.
I still have no idea how people get amazing battery life. I picked up the Verizon one and have great signal almost everywhere and best times I have gotten were 20 hours and 3 hours sot. How people are getting, 30 hours and 5 hours sot is beyond me.
It's a great phone, gets me through the day, who has is honestly all I need, however it's not much different than anything else out there.
I personally enjoy my Flex just as much. Just too big for work now and having to switch carries, however rest of the family is on T-Mobile.

I think most people were expecting adequate/sub-par battery life due to the amount of pixels being pushed through the same 801 processor when compared to S5 and M8. To me, the fact that it holds up to the competition (1080p) and even sometimes outperform them, is a win for LG and G3 consumers.

Im not a heavy user on my phone must graphically intense thing i do is probably my live wallpaper with all my home screens filled with full screen widgets other than that its just social media. But i must say the battery life is just terrible on a aosp rom or cm12 (D851 here tmo ). On stock lg i could leave my phone on 100% over night and wake up and it'll be on either 99 or 100 but on cm12 its a whole different story when i tried that i woke up with my battery on 76 %. and just using the phone will only get me max 4h screen on time currently i run cloudy pro 1.2 and i get around around 2 days of usage while cm12 i get only 10h max. Im very confused everyone seems to hate lg stock cause of the battery but why dont i achieve getting like 6h screen on as some users report or at least a day and a half's use.
Basically what im trying to say is what am i doing wrong i tried bliss-pop and candy5 latest versions with amplify to stop draining wakelocks
what rom combo do you use with your kernel and kernel settings to get a day or possibly more because thats the only reason i dont want to go to lollipop
( sorry for poor english ) also nothing seems to be draing battery even if so i tried multiple lollipop roms soo..
