Anyone found similar adapter to Steel Connect ones? - Moto 360

So I wanted to change to a metal band, but after reading about all the cracked backs (even with leather strap) I saw the steel connect adapters. But they are expensive (32$ + shipping and don't even include a band). Has anyone found any other adapters on (international shipping), like on aliexpress or ebay?

New replacement band

Hi,
Wish to share this for people who contemplate replacing the original brown band:
I just replaced it with a black leather band with off-white stitches, and also managed to keep the original Asus metal clap!
It looks just great, and I'm very happy with it
Some pics attached.
look very nice...
Looks great! Curious how you got the Asus clamp on a generic watchband... That's exactly what I'd want to do. Did you cut one end or something like that?

That's the beauty of it didn't need to cut anything on either bands!
It detaches easily out of the original band by pulling the clamp connector pin, and found several bands that I could just slide the Asus clamp on as-is. It attaches into one of the existing holes. I did widen the hole in the black band just a bit to get it in there all the way.

I know you have to just pull the connector pin out but on the new band, it must be a specific type leather band that accepts that connector pin on the one end right? Can't just be a generic leather band with a buckle... Correct?

It is just a generic band with a buckle. Only replaced its buckle with the Asus clip as described

I guess I just wasn't aware the buckle on a generic band could come off easily without cutting it off. Good to know though! Thanks for the info.
This was great....I really like the buckle and this was so simple.
Great job, well done - I was hoping somebody would post with a black band - looks nice.
From what I understand of after-market bands and clasps is that a lot of buckles are attached with a similar pin that attaches the band to the watch. Pop that off and you can fit a deployment clasp (like the Asus one here).
The clasps - of which there seem to be quite a few out there - come in various widths to accommodate the tapering of the band from watch to buckle (usually about 2mm thinner at the buckle end, but YMMV). So, a 22mm band might require a 20mm deployment clasp or buckle.
I don't suppose you could post a measurement of how wide that strap is at the buckle end, could you? Or, the inner-width of the clasp? That way we can buy online bands and be fairly certain that the Asus clasp can still be used.
I know I'll need a different strap when it's available in the UK, just toying whether to get a new clasp too.

Sure - The strap width is 18mm (also of the original band). The inner width of the clasp is 2-3mm wider.
I would recommend in this case to just step into a local shop, and pick something that fits. If you do order online be sure it also includes the spring connector pins that hook to the phone body. The original ones are not easy to interchange because they have a special release hook that sticks out.
Dang, I thought I did this first I did mine about a week ago, just didnt get around to posting images. Yours looks better since you used a band that tapered. Mine didnt (some cheap walmart band) so I had to cut tiny nothces on the latch side.
Can you link us to where you got your band?

Thanks for that. For clarification, the band tapers from 22mm at the watch end to 18mm at the buckle on the original band, yes?
I'll try shopping locally, but there's not so much around where I live. I had thought about the spring clips, since they've got that quick removal lever, which wouldn't transfer. At the very least, I know a different deployment clasp can be used so it's not the end of the world.

Watch band for working out?

Hi I just got my 360 and like it so far but am using it walking and running so wouldn't mind replacing the leather band with a rubber/silicone that is better when you are sweating. Anyone have any suggestions?
TYLT silicone? Good review from what I seen
Id really like to not spend $30 on a non leather metal band

Any 22mm silicone band should work. I'm using the band that came with my LG G Watch.

Where can I get a decent silver metal strap in the UK?

Hi all. I recently purchased a silver 360 from eBay. As described the grey leather band is a little worn so I was hoping to replace it with a metal one. Where would be the best place to get one from in the UK? I've looked at Amazon.co.uk, but many of the metal bands have poor or few reviews, and the one I saw with good reviews says they could take 3 weeks to deliver!
Thanks.

Metal bands dead for ever?

Hi - I'm looking for any ideas on where to get a metal strap for my SW3.
I've been patiently waiting for the shop to get the metal band back in stock for months... http://eshop.sonymobile.com/gb/buy/ok-smartband-wrist-strap-swr510
(it seems to have been out of stock for ever)..
but last week i noticed that the metal strap is not even shown - replaced by the new leather option... I really want a metal one! Any ideas!
You may be farther ahead buying a 3d printed adapter from http://www.shapeways.com/product/DP...d2jhsN3iOP5UaXs8aAsaA8P8HAQ&optionId=57778277
Then buying a universal stainless band, since the headpeace on a sony metal band is plastic anyhow.

In Japan, Sony has just started (Nov. 18th 2015) to sell the universal adapter, the metal band and the silicon strap in black and lime, available through the online Sony Japan Store, Amazon Japan and various retail stores.
ooohhh... back in stock for first time in months...

just bought mine
I bought one off ebay about a week ago. Lovely strap.

if you don't mind, how much did it cost you? was it shipped from japan or was it pre-owned?
I paid £75 and it was from
Germany. New and unused.
.... and they are now out of stock again.....
wow. I can't justify a $107 band for a watch I picked up for about $160...might as well wait a few more months and buy a 2nd SW3 with the metal band instead.
I was wondering if I was the only one considering too expensive these straps.. that's crazy! with some more euro I can get another smartwatch lol [emoji14] it sounds like printers and cartridge costs.. same story :/

IKR. I mean it's not even 100% stainless steel, the case that holds the core is still plastic. If I wanted to spend that much on a smartwatch, I'd have gotten the huawei. But no, as a first foray into the smartwatch world, the SW3 is still a solid choice, metal band or not.

Replacement housing and band

Just wanted to let people know that after the clasp on my watch band broke and not really willing to pay $89 for a lime green replacement, I took a shot with a company called Shapeways that was offering a 3D printed housing that was compatible with a 20mm watch band.
I've been using it a few days so far and I'm really happy with it. The housing was $18.99 with shipping and I got a silicone rubber band for less than $10. The housing takes about a week to make before it ships and the one I got was flat black and looks good.
All in all, a good replacement and $60 ahead without having to go acid green.
Here is a link http://www.shapeways.com/product/XP...oJE_1sU8OG3f1xZ8hoCHgvw_wcB&optionId=58575197
Thanks for the info mate but where can I choose the silicone rubber band?
Any standard 20mm watchband will work. Go to a watchstore an buy a watchband there or get it from some online store like Amazon.
This is the one Igot from Amazon. Link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017TDWDSM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
Would you mind sharing some photos of the watch in the housing? I have been interesting for awhile but unwilling to pull the trigger without seeing the SW3 in the adapter. Thanks

Is another good solution. Is possible to use any 24mm watchband
in 'accessories' there is more on these topics
