Just wanted to let people know that after the clasp on my watch band broke and not really willing to pay $89 for a lime green replacement, I took a shot with a company called Shapeways that was offering a 3D printed housing that was compatible with a 20mm watch band.
I've been using it a few days so far and I'm really happy with it. The housing was $18.99 with shipping and I got a silicone rubber band for less than $10. The housing takes about a week to make before it ships and the one I got was flat black and looks good.
All in all, a good replacement and $60 ahead without having to go acid green.
Here is a link http://www.shapeways.com/product/XP...oJE_1sU8OG3f1xZ8hoCHgvw_wcB&optionId=58575197
Thanks for the info mate but where can I choose the silicone rubber band?
Any standard 20mm watchband will work. Go to a watchstore an buy a watchband there or get it from some online store like Amazon.
This is the one Igot from Amazon. Link: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017TDWDSM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
Would you mind sharing some photos of the watch in the housing? I have been interesting for awhile but unwilling to pull the trigger without seeing the SW3 in the adapter. Thanks

Here's a quick photo of the black matt housing.
I bought original Sony wrist strap adapter for 35$ and attached the old watchband black metal from my SmartWatch 2 ...

Is another good solution. Is possible to use any 24mm watchband
in 'accessories' there is more on these topics

Hi!
I am wondering if the plastic "protector" comes with the official separate metal bands for $80?
The plastic "protector" is included with the new metal moto 360 models, but I'm not sure if it's only them or if they are being sold with the separate metal bands $80 at att.com aswell..
Why do I want to know? Well... I visited the watchmaker, he doesn't want to put on a custom metal band because "it will crack without some kind of protection". I believe him because thats probably why motorola added the plastic protector on their official 22" metal moto 360 editions. Also I wanted a more narrow band since I am thin - can only do that if I get a hold of the plastic protector for the 18 inch thinner metal bands that are not released yet
?
anyone who bought it and can answer?
We will once we receive them... Dec 5 was the availability date at the time of ordering, and that was the first hour they were posted on Moto's site.

Wait can the protector be brought separate or its only for the newer models?
Yes the plastic protectors are included with the official metal bands. I just picked up the band replacement kit during lunch today at my local best buy.
Cool... Not sold separately?
Not from what I have seen.. They do make the fit of the new metal band to be very snug against the watch itself.
I bought one of the Kriesler bands. They do NOT come with the plastic piece. Shame. They do look great however. If you have very large hands like mine, I only had to take out one link to let it get over my hand.
I can confirm that the OEM metal bands come with the plastic spacers, same as the metal band Moto 360's
Just had an online chat with Motorola support. I'll give an update about buying the spacer separately, when they get back to me.

Just a heads up - if you're looking to use them with non-Moto bands, I'm not sure it's going to work.
The Moto bands slide into two slots on the plastic connectors for a snug fit. Other bands are solid all the way across - if you were to take off their connector, the links would have to be the same size as the Moto bands.

I know the Pebble Steel metal band fits on the moto 360( it has the right fitting, its not full), but can someone tell me the spacer for the original metal band fits the pebble steel one? Or has someone found a way to get an other spacer?

The Pebble Steel Band does not fit in the plastic spacer provided with the Official Motorola Metal band.
I have a replacement watch arriving today, which will require me to move the official metal band from one watch to the other and I will take a photo to show you all what I am talking about.
Just ordered the official metal band from Motorola site today. Does anyone know if the included plastic spacers will prevent the back of the watch from cracking? I have read of so many people who have cracked the back of there 360 even with the stock leather bands. Can someone who has already gotten the metal bands from Motorola confirm that the spacers relieve the pressure against the back of the watch.

They do.
There has been one photo showing the plastic spacer breaking from the stress, but I've had mine for a week and the spacer is fine. It's been too small a sample size to say the back won't crack but just a few days in I'm feeling much better about it.
The watch is much heavier now, though.

Thanks for the info, so the band is definitely a higher quality then say the pebble steel bands?

Definitely. Both in looks (it's thicker and shinier with a color that is the same as the 360) and material weight. It's heavier than the Pebble Band.
I know a number of people will say that they can get the same thing for less, but if you've purchased watch bands before, you'll find this one to be of a solid quality.
Whether or not it's worth $80 will be up to each individual, but for me it's worth it if it stops the back from cracking because of the spacer..

Here are some photos to show you what I'm talking about. That spacer seems to be tailor made for the Moto band in how it slots in:
Had the leather band, and there were no cracks when i swapped to the Motorola metal band. 1 week later and there's a tiny crack starting in the corner. I'm going to just live with it and see how much it grows.
Have you guys seen this?
BUILT TO TYLT
They look pretty decent, and I am glad they are not leather! I have been using a silicone band, and while it looks good and feels good, I actually prefer the feel of resin bands, the type Casio and G-Shock watches use.
(see my mod here... http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-360/441678-moto-360-sport-edition-watch-strap-mod.html)
That being said, these look great and I like that there is a metal clasp at the end of the band to control the extra slack, and not a loop.
Also, there is no pricing that I can see...
What do you guys think?

If you had clicked on the "BUY NOW" button you would have seen that they are $29.95.
lol, i didn't see that on the mobile site, maybe i gotta use my eyes!
___
Actually, just checked the mobile site again, and it doesn't seem to have a buy now option!
For $30... that's kinda reasonable. I know that if I buy it, I don't have to alter it and it'll be guaranteed to fit.
I just received a blue one and it is really nice. Perfect size, the blue isn't really too BLUE.
I really like the clasp snaps back into the band to keep it tidy.
Very happy with it.
was going to buy one but then got to the payment page and saw $30 shipping to uk sad times
wondering how these work without the band cutout
Responding to my prior post regarding cut out concerns ... I was no longer worried since this is now sold on the Moto website as an officially recognized accessory.
Ordered one on 4/14, shipped on 4/16 and delivered 4/20 via USPS
Installation was a little trickier than I expected with one of OEM pins acting stubborn. The TYLT included new pins, so I didn't reuse the leather ones.
I didn't feel any resistance installing the band without the cutout.
Impressions:
- Feels lighter and more comfortable than the leather
- Blue color is a nice dark blue and looks nice enough to wear to work
- The metal tip can be trickier to get through the buckle portion of the band.
- Overall I prefer it to the leather (for now)
- Recommended, but $30 is steep for silicone band. I just couldn't bear with sweaty leather any longer, so it's a quality option if you wear your watch during workouts
Does anybody know of anybody selling the metal band original or after market for a decent price?
Nobody?
I got mine on eBay for an unpleasant price. I saw on here some time back that seller dropped the price, I believe. I don't regret it, though. The steel band is pretty nice, so if this is the look you want for you watch, get it at about any price you can. I suspect it will greatly increase the value (maybe even pay for itself if the SW3 is in that high a demand later on) if you were to sell it later on.
My friend has one.
Since the strap IS metal but the watch core is not (it's plastic), you'll have to be careful not to accidentally hook on something because he did and the core broke off the strap. Now he has to use silicone black band, no chance to find a replacement metal band in Poland...

I got the original one here in Denmark but never use it as the black band is more diskrete. So I could be open to sell it. PM me if interested, it's just gathering dust at the moment.

almost impossible to find ...
I do not recommend it. I take care of my gadgets but this strap get scratches for nothing. The front is made from mc donalds toys plastic. A small scratch and not even deep and you will see the gray base plastic. No way to fix it. Stay with the black strap.

Hi just wonderinh were I buy a replacement strap for my sony3 smartwatch as looking on ebay just for adaptor its 30 euro. Post on top of that 10 sure looking on ebay I see the strap with watch going for 105 euro madness been ripped off like that
Hi all
Bought the metal version of the sw3 in may last year
Was perfect for me as I needed a watch that looked ok with a suit but would track my runs
All was fine until November when I noticed fine cracks in the plastic part surrounding the watch face
These cracks worsened over the following few weeks until the watch was unwearable
No problem I thought, I'll return it under warranty, which I did
Just received the watch back with a note saying not covered under warranty!
How can sony sell this as a premium product and then not support it
Has anyone else had a similar problem
mine cracked from the junction of the metal and the plastic had to use this to glue
http://www.resistol.com.mx/es/productos/pegamentos-de-montaje/resistol-no-mas-clavos-multiusos.html
it looks a bit bad but still usable
How old was the watch when it cracked?
an alternative
I have a silicone one but I now use a metal strap by using an adapter. I bought an adapter through this site: https://www.shapeways.com/product/T9NVRLAJV/sony-smartwatch-3-adapter-22mm?optionId=58575196
This adapter is not the best but I find it usable and far more cheaper than an official one. I have used it 24/7 for a month now. No problem so far.
There are adapters for other strap size (20 mm, 24 mm, ...). You can also order them in different colours. This site offers discount or free shipping sometimes.
Hope this helps

Whoa - that definitely looks rough. I had both sides of my band break at the metal/plastic interface, but was able to repair with superglue - looks pretty much as good as new and solid after a month.
Also bought the shapeways adapter and a silicon band for sports/exercise. It looks fantastic.
Same here
Metal version purchased 1 year ago, still under warranty, USB protector below the watch is broken and the support for wrist strap too, and it is not covered by Sony.
150€ repair they claim. Simply wore every day since I bought it. Not abused. Programmed obsolescence. Very disappointed of Sony.
Hi there,
I think I have bad news for us. Last week the metall wristband of my SW3 was broken, I sent it to our german Sony Support Center (the third time now, they replaced it two times), yesterday I got the old broken wristband back, with a comment that Sony has completely removed the spare part supply for the SW3.
Looks like the SW3 is dead .

Judging by the price here in the UK @ £79, and the lack of stock at major retailers, I have to agree.
That's bad when you consider they may have to support it for about 5-6 years in the UK AFAIK due to consumer laws.
Yes, its bad news for you and all us people .
same thing happened to my but it was my OG silicone strap, so i got a 3D printed case from shapeways for £18 and got a 24mm leather band from ebay for £2. Its been 2 weeks and ive been using that and imo looks better then before. You could also get a 24mm metal band if thats what you prefer.
Confirm!!

I can say this 3D printed case work fine. I have used it 24/7 for a month now. You can also order it in polished metal colour, although I have no idea how plastic can look like metal. I ordered a black one, polished it by myself with sand paper and use it with silicone and black steel straps. This works well for me.
Just a suggestion: if you are not in a hurry, you can wait for discount or free shipping offers.
my screen got broke, placed two orders with MaxBhi, both got cancelled, now money is stuck as they are unable to refund. Anyways, I am still looking for a screen if available. Please let me know...
