Stock Xperia Z5P Rom Odex or Deodex? - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted e6853 and i would like to know if the stock rom is odex or deodex, since i want to install xposed and would prefer not to brick my phone.
P.S i used this guide, Thanks @AndroPlus
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/development/e6853-root-unlocked-bootloader-t3255039

Thanks for all the help, but i managed to work it out.

I have some issues which makes me a bit unhappy, maybe someone can help...
I had to disable Smart Connect cos it was interfering with the Z5P recognizing headphones and Headsets. I thought the headphone jack was faulty. But then I can't use Smartband SW30 now.
I also have had camera errors where I couldn't use the front camera due to an error. I also saw a weird bug that when I held the phone level, the shooting button/menu would disappear! It's not overheating issues, just some bad software.
I also have to say that I get more blurred shots then other phones . using touch capture seems to help. I also have to say that selfie picture quality is quite worse than a V10 or S6.
The battery life is not bad though and will outlast my V10...

Sorry wrong thread

arc camera not great

i tried flashing camera mod and libs, tried different camera.apk, ics+ but my camera is not good as it should be, i was looking picture samples of you guys and my night photos are not even close, what to do, i have rooted phone??
U on ics or Gb?

ics of course, rooted, doomkernel, arconium 4
Pictures uploaded onto the computer will come out much better than on phone. The phone viewing is deceiving. Try to transfer it onto your computer first and compare the difference.

What the guys have mentioned above is important... have you tried to use another app to view your pictures? (I say 'quick pic' for example...)
And your complaining is also fair. Although the camera quality of this phone is very good, it´s not as good as it should be. People say that the compression of the files is excessive and that not much can be done with rom modifications because the compression happens at hardware level (at least, this is what I understood from everything I have read - and I have read a lot about it).
cc
a tried many od apps for camera, every single is the same
and you are wrong
camera on gingerbread is at least 20% BETTER, i saw it with my eyes
especially in low light places, there is no snow at all
I am extremely pleased with camera on ics, is quite ok image. Like guys above said when you get them on pc they are very good. This might be due to my first phone XPERIA x1 3mpix camera.

[Q] Viper4Android & jetAudio

Hey guys,
just rooted my z1c with the completely awesome and easy new rooting method and installed V4A. Love it but it seems to be not working with the newest jetaudio player. Tried searching the xda forums but kinda got overwhelmed by the results and wasn't skilled enough to narrow down the search enough to get any useful results. I guess i have some settings enabled in jetaudio i shouldn't have. Tried all i could find but there seems to be no change...
Do you guys have any ideas why that could be?
Would love to hear from you,
regards

im not 100% mate but i think that V4A is only compatible with the standard walkman player and not others.
if you want awesome sound and to use it on other players ... (i like n7player :good: ) try the ac!d audio mod, it works with all players as it mods your core audio lib files etc :highfive:

hey man, thanks for the quick reply :highfive: I definitly can say v4a works well with n7, i'm just not 100% sold on the player yet. Guess i just got used to jetaudio
Will definitly give ac!d a try. Have you ever tried v4a ... pretty amazing what it can do especially if you have some nice IRS samples. Maybe i just need to buy the n7 and get used to it
btw. any custom rom you particularly like? Now that i have backed up my drm keys the floodgates of rom hell are open for me

No problem mate glad I could help, I was just going on my last phone Xperia M - the V4A port of that only works with the Walkman player, well as I understand that's what was described in the thread, I didn't actually flash it.
I've used the ac!d mod for a few years since i had my Ray... it was awesome on that, made a huge difference in quality, I had it flashed on my M and it was worth it, not quite as good as on the Ray but think the M lacks quite a bit on sound quality and volume through the headphone port
To answer your question about a ROM I only got my z1c yesterday and I've flashed KitSlim and DoomKernel as like to stick with the stock/modified stock look on any of my ROMs with all the tweaks and performance gains. So far its really good I like it, but then I'm used to using a mid-range good value phone that's modded to f**k to make it as good as (or as close to as I can get) a flagship... (software wise anyway, my Ray was great for ports and mods)
With DoomKernel you get FauxSound support which is amazing (apart from the random FC's that I need to ask about) for pre-amping your headphones as much as you like without ANY distortion :fingers-crossed:
The only thing now is that I actually have a flagship device lol - so nothing needs porting and I've pretty much got all the performance I need because the phones an absolute powerhouse :victory:
Depends on how much customisation you want really - your not gonna beat modified stock for performance and battery life BUT if you want all the customisations and bells and whistles then try the CM based ROMS:good:
yeah, its crazy how the output power for headphones varies from phone to phone. The Z1C is one of the better ones in my oppionion. I'm not a big fan of preamping from the phone cause to my ears it always messes up the sound ... so i'm curious about doomlords kernel...
Really good to hear your view on the whole rom thing. I guess it's 3 things that count for me ... sound quality, battery life and privacy/security ... I'm still not clear how secure it is to use a rooted phone( needed for V4A) with supersu but ... what the heck
So I guess I'll stay on the stock rom for now and maybe l'll look into doomlords kernel as well ... I kinda really want to have dt2w but it looks like its not happening for now
thanks for your extensive response :good:

Yeah i totally understand what you mean about the pre-amping.. on the M if i pre-amped above 4/5Db (in n7player) its caused horrible distortion and did mess up the sound but on the z1c its genuinely fantastic.
I wouldn't worry about security of your phone, especially if you've got root and/or a custom ROM as any of the fixes needed to protect "security risks" are usually already implemented, if not included as mods/tweaks in the ROM then just because you're pretty much fully up to date on software.
If your looking at sound quality and battery life mate i seriously recommend KitSlim and the DoomKernel, I've just had 2days 14hours 53mins battery life (put it on charge at 5% remaining) i used it for music (n7player) for about 3-4 hours each day, regular phone usage, installing a few apps and the odd photo/video to test out the new camera (must say I'm impressed, people moaning about poor quality low light photos - get a REAL camera then... its a mobile phone!!) AND I've had the brightness on 100% the whole time
So yeah pretty pleased with my first choice of ROM on this phone, plus the maker of it is uploading a new one i think today or this week :victory:

Sorry it took me so long to reply, have been busy .
I installed Kitslim and love it!!! battery performance is stellar and it works flawlessly. Really a pitty I'm not allowed to post a thread in developers section yet, cause I wanted to let the devs/guys who ported it know how much I love their rom. Can't wait for evo 6. anyway... I definitly want to try out doomlords kernel, but am a bit hesitant about unlocking the bootloader. Did a TA Backup but still a bit frightened about bricking my phone/needing the keys for warrenty and something going wrong when restoring them
Guess I'll just wait if he will manage to incorporate dt2w ... having that would be worth the risk. Btw. do you know why omarainea isn't porting the newer kernel version? I wonder how much work it is porting a kernel and if i could learn it ... might be a bit sophomoric though

Hey... sorry i didnt notice you had responded hence me not replying lol :silly:
You don't need to be allowed to post in the developers section mate you can just post in their thread saying thanks and that you like the ROM and/or request any specific mods or tweaks you might like.
DoomKernel did have dt2w but he took it out because apparently it causes unnecessary battery drain.
With regards to the unlocking of your bootloader its ABSOLUTELY fine mate Sony support it and you have to use their website to get you bootloader unlocking code anyway, plus restoring the TA is a piece of p!ss seriously.
The performance gains and general pro's to be had from a custom kernel faaaaar outweigh the risks posed when unlocking your bootloader and flashing a new kernel trust me :highfive:
v4a will not work when jet audios hra playback is enabled. it used to work but some roms with dolby and such have some hdcp written into them so it will disable v4a in certain cases.
my rom is the same btw i cant find a fix either. rmember to resart jet audio when you click the hra on or off.
and i just noticed how old this post was. lol

Custom ROMs and camera performance

Hi,
I'd really like to use a custom ROM, but camera performance is rather important for me. How big is the difference in this aspect between a custom and original ROM?
And also, what's to expect in this subject? Is there any hope to have in the near future a custom ROM with equal to original camera performance?
I have the same inquiry as well, but as for what I've been reading so far. It is not possible at the moment or possibly will never happen( I hope I'm wrong with this one.).
Conclusion: You can't have the best of both worlds.
There is a clear big difference between custom and stock rom in terms of camera quality. It's like night and day in my opinion. Although shots taken by custom rom are acceptable but compare to stock, the details and colors are way off when using custom rom. In terms of futurem nobody knows but this issue also exist on other phone. Like Xperia 2011 devices where the quality really degrades when using AOSP based rom though the big issue there is the camera libraries.
I thought only the Z3's use those very special DRM-Codes in the TA-Partition for LowLight and other Stuff? Isn't the rest "just" Sonys Camera Software?
I would love to use CM11, and i think i could live with a bit less low light quality, but as a DSLR owner i want another camera that is good with "point-and-shoot" situations...the Stock Z1 with the superior automatic is perfect for that kind of stuff....
Can't say how much is the difference, since I did not leave the phone at stock for a very long time, but in CM I find the back camera quality pretty good even in dark settings, when the flash is being used (low ISO).
However, when the flash is disabled or the front camera is used in low light (high ISO), the pictures are next to unusable.
I still can't understand what exact part of the camera processing configuration is stored on those DRM partitions and why did Sony, who otherwise support custom ROM development, made such particular decision...
I'd like to lift this thread and ask again, are there any lollipop roms with better or at least the same quality on camera?

You will not find a CM camera that comes anywhere near the quality of stock, sorry. Feel free to keep asking.

LG G3 Marshmallow Pros and Cons

Im thinking about updating to Android 6 but im not quite sure if i should do it already.
Heard some good things about perfomance and overall feeling but also about lowered Imagequality.
What are your pros and cons about the update? Is it worth going? Pls help me

Well thx for your response! [emoji14]
im currently on fulmics 2.7 with xceed and its feeling really smooth. There is not a real reason for me to upgrad but i feel a bit outdated if i stay on lp. I know its stupid.
Im not using the camera for high quality shots at all but i also dont want to loose some of the quality. Is there any chance that lg will update the camera problem?
and about the knock code: i think there is no way for the devs to disable the "6knocks3areas" rule? i love the knock code on lp and dont want to miss it
I think I will wait and see if LG can fix this problems or maybe a dev can
As far as I know the MM release is somewhat a beta release since it was only released in Poland. It being a beta, I guess it's normal to have a numerous amount of bugs. So better wait for the global final release before ranting out on unfinished beta software.

Dont rly know what you talking about. Knock code for me works fine and camera FV 5 does the job well on every condition.
V30b is doing fine with and am most satisfied with batery life.
But looks like its just mz expiriance and its up to you if your going to wait for the nwxt relese or upgrade like me.
All the best .
:tapatalkin'
Ya works fine with me to. v30b is one smooth ride. knock code is only 2 more taps anyway so thats not to bad as far as camera goes it grand. Believe me LP sucks ass compared to this. do yourself a favor and flash+root v30b sure if you dont like it you can allways go back to lolipop ?

Each to their own. /TLDR. Narf.
If you come up with a claim at least try to put a reason behind it - everything else is just pure arrogance or simply said hot air venting from between the two bottom halves.
The JPG-Engine seemingly was downgraded just like the Camera is way less responsible and OIS (even while hardware-based) seems to be fcked up with their drivers introducing lag as such leading to blurry pictures under the same conditions that were absolutely fine on LP.
(And I don't have Parkinson)
Just ask kairi_zeroblade but I bet he's tired of those endless discussions with people that don't bring up reason or listen to those with more insight and technical knowledge (like him - I'm not even speaking about myself that is).
Like I said - each to their own. If you need to experience it yourselves and don't care you're free to do so.

Heres my problem with your opinion. Which it is an opinion. As with most reviews people give on xda, people here already have a high expectation based on their technical experience or lack there of. Ive found that if i compare peoples reviews from xda to other sites or real world, youll find a really wide spread. Im not saying youre wrong but you project opinion off as fact. Even reading this reply to people you attack anyone disagreeing by saying they are sheep or arrogant. Ever heard of variance. Sure every device comea off the line "identical" but errors happen. If you have a defective phone to begin with a software update may not fix it. Its why you get people on so many places on a line. Ive been with android since the beginning and these kind of responses have always happened. Ive seen peolle post and say that "everyone " is having the issue and they should either not buy the device or not update. Xda is not representative at all of any real user base for a specific device. For anyone looking for whether or not to install something or update. Id say take everything with a grain of salt and read many reviews. In the end its hpw you see the device.

Don't know what you're complaining about, ever since v30b was released, it completely changed my G3. The interface lags in Lollipop are gone, there was a 2sec stutter everytime I wanted to do something under 5.0. App switching is instant and the whole interface is running at 60Fps. In lollipop even the slide down menu was laggy as hell. I like the G4 UX and battery sleep time is actually a bit better than Lollipop. I'm extremely happy that LG kept updating the G3 and fixed a lot of problems, I will not update my phone this year. And I agree with @monkeypaws, a lot of people here praise stock based custom roms and kernels. The truth no one wants to hear on this forum is this : Stock based custom roms are 100% useless. You can do the debloating using Root Browser, you can install third party apps like App Ops or Kernel Auditor yourself. Custom Roms are not magic, a lot of people talk about how BUTTER SMOOTH this and SLEEP LIKE A BABY that and so on. Wake up, it's not any different than stock rom. So are custom kernels bumped to Linux 3.4.111 sources. Most of them are horrible in terms of battery saving because of 'Overclocking'. Apart from frying your already hot as a potato G3 on light use, you'll do nothing interesting to it.
The only noteworthy content in XDA are Cyanogenmods, AOSP, and the ports like on the Samsung scene, where the S6 edge features ported to the S5, or 5.1.1 ported to the S5 that was officially supported up to 5.0.2 only a few months back. There's actual work done, not some twelvie on Archikitchen feeling like a developer

For me,build 2a is still best. It's the most stable and battery friendly build for me.
Build 5 had poor battery timing for me and build 6 had several random reboots per day.Only thing I miss from latest builds is increased charging speed, but i can live without that
Gee thanks buddy...will give it a shot...
Hello everyone. I want to share with you my experience with Lg G3 2 gb version with stock android 6.0 mm. I have installed android mm on my device since 2 january. After one month of use i can say that updating to mm, for me ,was a very bad idea. I don't know how it is on other lg g3's but mine it got worse after the update. The camera is much worse than lp, memory management is just awful...multitasking became ussels...almost impossible, the phone is laggy and it stutter very bad. In my case lollipop was so much better than android mm. Only pros for the mm are the battery life and better looking UI. (sorry for my english, it's not my main language)
I find Marshmallow much better than Lollipop in the other hand.
Lollipop had bad battery life, performance was very inconsistent (sometimes it was fine, often I would get 10 second white screen hanging while launching apps like facebook, youtube, etc. ). But two worst things about Lollipop were often force closes of LG's launcher and invisible apps in Recents window. And all that was happening even though it was heavily tweaked to reduce the lag and preserve battery life. Quickcircle wasnt usable and practical at all (if you use it ofc).
Marshmallow has much better UI (all Lollipop UI bugs are fixed), performance is great and it's also CONSISTENT, just like battery life. I feel the camera is the same (IF YOU WANT TRUE CAMERA BUY A DSLR). Memory management is the same (it was good on Lollipop already). Quickcircle finally makes sense and it's practical.
If using stock roms, Lollipop is very unusable and need heavy tweaking until it's tolerable. Even then, Marshmallow is much more consistent and more responsive than heavily tweaked Lollipop and there are no random force closes.
If you are rooted, backup your existing Lollipop ROM, try out Fulmics MM ROM. If you dont like it, you can easily restore you LP ROM.
After all this different opinions i think i will wait for the global release. Fulmics 3.1 Rom seems to be good but maybe LG will fix some of their fails like knock code. LP is running pretty good for me so theres no real reason to upgrade
But thanks anyways!
I just wanted to say that xpirt managed to change the Knock Code in his MM Rom. Fulmics 3.5 has a 3 Taps Knock Code
So theres one probleme less. Maybe LG will fix their camera too

D851 worth getting today?

Hey guys, I'm not a must have flagship device or a crazy spender when it comes to phones. I tend to lean towards features, and developer support when it comes to phones. I'm still using the LG Optimus G e970 that I bought 2 years ago, and I think it's time for a change. The D851 has everything I'm looking for at a decent price, but I'm worried now after reading so many people are having boot loops, wifi issues, etc. Would it be a bad decision to buy this phone since it seems like it's facing a bunch of issues due to aging.
Thanks guys!
I just bought one last week. Refurbished. So far, so good. Still early to judge but this phone is so fast and smooth.
I am running stock with Marshmallow 6.0. I usually root but really I have no need to right now.
I got a mint used one with zero lemon 9k mah battery for 120, it's stock 6.0.1 rooted and debloated and works fantastic.
Thanks guys! I made the purchase with an extra battery!

In my opinion, best phone for the price and features. I have had mine for nearly two years and it is still going strong. Just got a smart circle case with wireless charging and really happy with it. Developer support is also very good. I tried to run the Tmobile stock 6.0 but it was sluggish and Wifi calling could never connect. Using multirom, I can boot into LP for wifi calling if I need it. Fulmics is my main rom and I could not be happier with the features and performance.

Bluetooth is working perfectly with the stock Fulmics kernel for me. I had tried a different kernel and it broke Bluetooth so I reverted back to avoid issues.
Everyone keeps talking about Fulmics.
May finally root my phone and try it!
How is the battery life?
My local store has one still BNIB collecting dust on the shelf, I didn't find out till after I got their last BNIB G4 and they didn't have any current price for it as corporate stopped updating that price list. I'm sort of thinking maybe I should have got it vs my G4 because of potential bootloop issues but my G4 was manufactured in April 2016 which is apparently after LG fixed the hardware problem. We'll see. I have half a mind to call them up tomorrow and see if I can get a current price on it.
I had a G3 on Verizon but didn't have it long enough to really make it shine. VZW installs so much freaking bloat that its kinda impossible to fairly judge a phone sometimes. Spec wise its honestly pretty close to the G4 although my G4 out of the box is the fastest phone I've had on an OEM rom and its not even close.
Definitely. I have had mine (bought it used) for 7 months now and have had no issues. I would recommend rooting and flashing a custom rom. Makes the phone so much better. It has the removable battery which is great, especially since the battery life is so-so. I can get through a whole day with it with moderate use so I guess it isn't that bad.
It's still a good phone, but look into the moto g4, double LTE speed capabilities. and double charging speed capabilities. Gotta keep up with the newest features

LG G3 vs. G4 vs. G5
After watching dozens of YouTube videos making comparisons with these three phones, the G3 is still a great phone. The fact that you can buy one new very cheaply now is a plus. I am running Marshmallow now on mine with all of the latest updates. Stock 100%, but rooted and many of the apps frozen with Titanium Backup Pro. I NEVER have an issue with my phone. Battery life is excellent, I never drop calls, Wi-Fi calling works perfectly with my cable provider's router. The G4 and G5 look great but the "new improvements" are minimal at best. The newer models will cost you hundreds more, but the bells and whistles just are not there from what I have seen. An extra physical button or two would not sway me to upgrade this phone.

you can root 30D with Kingroot to get temporary root. Then use this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/stock-d851-30d-kdz-flashable-zips-imgs-t3367371
Pretty good.
Phone is pretty good. My main criticisms are the phones heat issue and rather dull screen. I haven't run custom ,don't know how much that helps.
Can anyone comment on what you would lose going custom ROM? Currently running stock Marshmallow 30D.

As for heating issues -- only one thing will make the biggest difference: lowering the screen resolution to 1080p. That made the biggest difference in the world for me. But to do that, you would need to be on an AOSP rom.
Biggest thing you lose going custom is the camera quality. As for other things, with AOSP you lose the knock code to unlock feature (only feature from LG that I miss), and the LG apps if you actually like any of them. In general, you void your warranty by rooting, and you could run into some issues with some custom roms, Most common is lack of Bluetooth functionality, although many will have it working. It is a much greater experience than stock roms in my opinion and worth the loss. Worst comes to worst, and you go on a nice vacation where you need a good camera for pictures (i.e. hiking) then you could always restore your stock OS (backup is a must in TWRP once you are rooted) and use it for the vacation time, and go back to a custom rom once it is over

Thanks for the input on what's lost. I've read about the camera issue. Good to know that's the biggest difference.
Actually if you're running Marshmallow there is a game optimizer mode that will drop the screen resolution to 1080p when gaming on stock. This is where most of the heat issues occur. There's also an option to reduce the resolution to 1080p for all apps. Both options require root.
That being said, even at 1080p the phone gets hotter than it should for gaming. The only other option I've found is the hardware thermal paste mod. Not willing to try it yet.

For me the phone got hot even with just multitasking. I really don't game too much and it was heating up like crazy. 1080p fixed all those issues for me. I felt as though performance was slightly better on 1400p, contrary to popular belief. The antutu score also showed that as well. Still like 1080 better though

I love the phone too, but I don't believe there is root yet for the latest 30E update, hoping that changes soon.

I have got to say my G3 is by far the best phone I've ever owned. I'm currently running Stock rooted 30D. I was thinking about flashing Fulmics ROM, but I read about losing of Bluetooth. I connect to my TV with HDMI Slimport adapter so I can play games on the big screen with my MOGA Power Pro gamepad. So losing Bluetooth is a deal breaker.
@aclegg2011 recently posted they're testing 30e Stock rooted.
