[Q] Entering Recovery mode on V20A bootloader - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
I upgraded my Bootloader to V20A and tried CM13 and got stuck in boot loop.
The problem is that i can't enter the Recovery mode
Is there a method on V20A Bootloader to get into recovery?
I tried the normal button combo vol down and power but it won't work.
on V10D it worked fine.

Not, download LGUP as directed reinstall.
Then do not forget to install TWRP.

LGUP is only for official

So is there a combination to get into recovery?
Download mode worked fine but i don't want to refurb my phone every time i got a bootloop because if i could enter the recovery it can be fixed

I had the same problem

but reverting all is not an option for me
so is there no other way?

I tried everything, provided only that.

Same problem here...
But if you flash MM with LGUP how upload the recovery?
The recovery of this thread is in ZIP

Recovery is not an issue must reinstall and then upload recovery.

To enter recovery press and hold power + volume down, when the LG logo shows release JUST the power button for a second and then press it again. You'll get the factory reset message like on the G3 but it'll boot into recovery if you have TWRP installed.

Flash twrp again
Remember the new versions of TWRP don't work on an older bootloader so if you're using 3.16.0000 you'll need TWRP 2.7.x

What recovery did you flash first? Also describe exactly what you did step by step to flash that and TWRP. You might try to power down your phone and press power button /volume down and hold to enter your boatloader then release buttons when in boatloader. Then use volume key to select recovery and hit power button to enter it. It may be flashed and it's just needed a reboot back into recovery to show. Official TWRP for our a5 found on the TWRP website does work on our phone so it's probably something easy to correct. Let me know.
I follow your all steps and successfully unlocked bootloader mode and you mention that cwm recovery use i got successfully flashed recovery message but when i presss power button nd volume down... And enter into bootloader and hit the power button to enter a recovery when go into the recovery mode screen goes into the black...nothing happen..my mobile htc 816 lollipop version not kitkat version is effect ....what happen...

Try flashing your Stock recovery and test if the screen is still black. If it's not, try flashing cwm once more. That's what made my black screen go away.

H815 Bootloop Xperiaxperience Rom

Hi,
I flashed Xperiaxperience Rom on my International H815, after trying to install supersu as a systemapp via the app itself I am stuck in a bootloop I cant access download mode through hardware (I press Volume up + Power button but it boots into normal boot) and neither through cmd. the only thing I can do is boot into recovery but not into twrp but into a recovery where i only have the option to factory reset my phone. Is there anyway to boot to twrp manualy?

Recovery issue flashed but unbootable

Hi fellow G4 owners I have ran into quite a bothersome and weird issue after flashing a recent nightly of CM 13.1 on my g4 , I realized I couldn't boot into my twrp anymore , it seems to boot in what I think is the phone's factory recovery only displaying a few lines of text that are all related to the my bootloader's unlocked status .... Ive tried reflashing the recovery many time through flashify and adb , it doesn't change anything ....
Hoping anyone has already had that problem and could help. Cheers

Try
fastboot boot twrp.img
If you see twrp push the twrp image to your device and choose image at the bottom and flash twrp to recovery
Btw Download and use the latest twrp

Will try this and report !
Sadly it boots to the screen I was talking about in my previous post which actually happens to be fastboot not factory recovery my bad.
I did some flashing , apparently when trying to flash the latest recovery the flashing goes well but then I get an error saying there is a dtb error, I am unable to even boot it through fastboot.
I managed to flash twrp's 2.8.7.0 version but again if rebooting to recovery through adb command it takes me to the same fastboot screen however I am able to boot to this version of the recovery via fastboot commands and that's the only way I can actually reach a recovery .....
Hoping that helps in any way for other peeps in the same situation , I'm gonna try to flash a more recent rom will report once done !

Oh How do you try to get into recovery??? Which key combo?

The volume key power button combo strangely never worked on my G4 I use either the advanced reboot on the phone or through ADB.
I just flashed the lasted cm 14.1 nightly after flashing an older twrp and booting into it , with that version I can boot into twrp with no problem but after flashing the latest twrp the problem reappeared .... This is so weird :/

The only valid and always working and supported way on getting with a key combo into twrp is using the factory reset screen.
Any other key combo like vol up + power depends on the kernel of the ROM! So it may work or not. Factory reset will work always.
for this you have to ensure that you have the latest twrp version really installed(!) because if twrp sits in recovery it will ignore the factory reset command when going through it.
Edit:
Check the faq in the official twrp thread for a howto.

Reboot to bootloader and flash stock recovery
Yep and if it works flash blu-spark twrp it should be fine.
Yeah, I went through a lot of steps, but basically install stock recovery v2 and let it restart. Once it succeeds or fails, it will go back to normal, and you can flash whichever recovery/rom combination you prefer. I don't have the official url, but this one seems legit:
