Root using smartphone? Will be/is possible? - Moto 360

So, i'm facing if this will be or is possible? Root using my galaxy s4 instead the cable root?
Thnx :good:

Any help with getting cyanogenmod 11 on sm-t217t

I have the tmobile version of the Galaxy Tab 3 , I've been doing some searching and I haven't really found much information on rooting installing CyanogenMod on this tablet.
I've read from some people that you can run the Sprint version of the roms on this tablet. But I haven't found a whole lotta info on that.
Being forced to run the ancient version of Android on this thing is really bugging me. A Lot of the apps I like to use don't work so any help in getting up to a more modern version of Android would be appreciated thank you in advance.

Really nothing helpful yet?
Apparently no devs out there purchased their tab3 from T-Mobile. Ah well, still a decent tablet.

It seems that way, it suck's....
Not much attention was given by developers to Galaxy Tab 3 or the current Tab 4 series in my opinion
I'm in this boat too. The only thing I've found useful for t217t was a debloat mod. I was hoping I could upgrade this this to 4.4.2 like my c916
Which debloat mod did you use? I have the t217a and I'm hoping your method will work for me too.

Battery life and graphics performance should be better on the Note 3 Neo as it only has a 720p screen as opposed to a 1080p screen. Same amount of RAM for both phones, but the Xperia will have more free RAM because of it's lighter UI. Sound is pretty poor on the Xperia because of the water resistance that it has. But the build quality and looks of the Xperia completely eclipses that of the Neo.
Go for Note 3 Neo

Ask your friend to go for Note 3 Neo.
Hexacore, very smooth performance.
If he roots the phone then you can freeze the bloat ware.
Tweak some settings and get more out of the phone.
RAM :- 600 MB to 700 MB (rooted) without root (800MB)
With root you can Greenify almost all applications.
Games - Excellent, I played subway surfers, Tennis 3D , both are pretty smooth , didn't have any unpleasant surprises.
Graphice are nice. May be someone who plays games frequently can shed more light on this.
Sound - Speakers is bit low for me compared to note 2. With good set of headphones - volume is fine.
Antutu benchmark came as 32k which is pretty good.
Battery life. : - Now this is where it is awesome. Compared to note 2 this was so much better. I got 7 days 9 hours with 6 hours battery life with rooting. Now I am testing without root also. And the results are very good.
The only thing that is bothering me is the rooting method using chainfire will trip the knox. And I am still searching for alternative rooting method.
Other than that mobile is worth 25 to 26k.
Cheers!

Knox is a security feature that Samsung has come up with to give headache to users like us starting with Android 4.3. For IT Administrators, Enterprise people it is handful.
But for people like us it is serious headache as it will hamper our chances to downgrade or upgrade at will once you choose to go to Kitkat firmware. And there is one more thing. Along with binary flash counter you have Knox counter too in the download mode. Knox is 0 to begin with. But if you choose to upgrade to firmware any thing other than Samsung firmware or choose to root your phone with chainfire method then knox will be tripped to 1. Even triangle Away trips the knox to 1. If that is tripped to 1 then it voids the warranty.
With Note 2 I faced this. I upgraded to custom kitkat firmware and Knox triggered to 1.
Even on Note 3 neo I used chainfire method to root and it was triggered to 1.
Luckily I was able to get the replacement from flipkart as I complained them regarding screen issue I got lucky.
But I hope anyone new can take precaution and NOT root using chainfire method.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find alternative method to root my replacement phone
So yeah Knox is pain in the Head.
One more bad news is Google wants to implement this damn knox feature in upcoming Android L.
So if you want to upgrade your phone to Kitkat or any custom firmware please check if Knox is getting triggered. That is if you are under warranty.
But hey we got Xda developers. Developers here are brilliant and they can counter anything Samsung/Google comes up with.
Salute to their hardwork and brilliance. :good:
Regarding Mali T624 vs Adreno 320 I have read some posts online stating that it is slightly better. I will attach some screenshots for your reference. May be some serious gamers/experts can jump in to explain the comparison better but I haven't faced any heating issue even after continuous gaming.
you can check this site
One thing I can tell you, performance so far has been outstanding. It has exceeded my expectations and what reviews had to say.
Cheers!

No no it is not loss, it is just inconvenience.
If you have a Samsung phone which came with Knox enabled firmware and if you upgrade to any other custom firmware or root it using chain fire then you will trip Knox and Knox count will now be 1.
If Knox is 1 and if god forbid you got some hardware problem with your phone and you want to take it to Samsung service center for repair. Then they will refuse to do it. I came to know about this problem after reading many posts online in this site and also in other public sites. So as a customer we are at loss in terms of money and have to live with a defective phone.
Downgrading to older firmware will become tricky. Few people said they were able to downgrade but it is risky.
You never know things can go wrong.
Without Knox till Android 4.3 we were able to flash firmwares at will but now that is not easy any more.
Samsung made it very tough.
This is what I know so far and from my personal experience I can tell you it is a big headache dealing with Knox especially if you want to root your phone and flash any firmware you like.
Cheers!

Worth purchasing?

Hi,
I'm upgrading my contract from the Huawei Ascend P1 to hopefully the LG G3 and I was wondering if the device is worth it? I've noticed there's no custom roms or recovery available yet due to a locked bootloader- is there any chance of this changing before the end of September?
I was also wondering how intrusive the LG UI is when compared to AOSP and if this device is better than the S5, Galaxy Alpha, Nexus 5 and HTC M8.
Thanks,
Curtis.

If xposed and Nova are good enough substitutes to flashing in your eye. You can't go wrong. I gave up my s5 for this phone and the only thing I miss is gear 2.
Love the G3. It's mush closer to aosp than both Samsung and HTC. It's UI doesn't have a name like sense or TouchWiz. I say go for it.

+1 also came from htc one m8, not one moment of regret, when you root and flash it to the latest v10j you will feel a Lucky man!
Thanks for the replies.
How easy is the rooting process on this device? Only want root for Adaway, Titanium Backup and Xposed! I'll be purchasing from Three UK if the firmware/model version alternates the root methods.
Thanks again.

I never rooted any phone before and I'm not very knowledgeable about that sort of thing but with help from here I rooted with Stumproot in a few minutes and no need for a computer either.
Im with 3uk and im on the latest firmware j flashed though a kdz file. Ive had every phone you can imagine s5 m8 z2 note 3 but this one ive kept the longest best phone bar none. If you want to make it better root it which is pretty simple on a windows computer. Get xposed g3 tweakbox and xblast and enjoy even more freedom. Just get it youll love it.

[Q] Desire HD - Returning to Stock from CM7(!)

As per the title, could someone walk me through what would be required to return my old DHD to stock?
It's Rooted, S-off'd and running CM7. I really can't remember any of the processes involved in installing firmware on the DHD, it's been so long since I did it that my memory fails me, I'm more familiar with the samsung devices now.
Thanks, Dave.

Sent from my ATRIX HD using Tapatalk
Hi Marknoll,
I've not had a chance to have a really good look yet, I couldn't immediately find any thread I thought was 100% relevant to returning to stock from a custom OS though.
I guess I will have to extract the firmware from the RUU and flash it from the SD card?
Not been feeling up to doing much with this at the minute as I'm pretty ill, this is why I could do with a mini walkthrough if possible.
Thanks, Dave.

[Q] Samsung, AOSP Kitkat or Lollipop?

Hello there, as a Note User. I'm just wondering if you guys actually prefer using the Samsung Stock right now, or using an AOSP Version of Android in Kitat or Lollipop. So what do you use? Can you explain why?
