Worth purchasing? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm upgrading my contract from the Huawei Ascend P1 to hopefully the LG G3 and I was wondering if the device is worth it? I've noticed there's no custom roms or recovery available yet due to a locked bootloader- is there any chance of this changing before the end of September?
I was also wondering how intrusive the LG UI is when compared to AOSP and if this device is better than the S5, Galaxy Alpha, Nexus 5 and HTC M8.
Thanks,
Curtis.

If xposed and Nova are good enough substitutes to flashing in your eye. You can't go wrong. I gave up my s5 for this phone and the only thing I miss is gear 2.
Love the G3. It's mush closer to aosp than both Samsung and HTC. It's UI doesn't have a name like sense or TouchWiz. I say go for it.

+1 also came from htc one m8, not one moment of regret, when you root and flash it to the latest v10j you will feel a Lucky man!

Thanks for the replies.
How easy is the rooting process on this device? Only want root for Adaway, Titanium Backup and Xposed! I'll be purchasing from Three UK if the firmware/model version alternates the root methods.
Thanks again.

I never rooted any phone before and I'm not very knowledgeable about that sort of thing but with help from here I rooted with Stumproot in a few minutes and no need for a computer either.

Im with 3uk and im on the latest firmware j flashed though a kdz file. Ive had every phone you can imagine s5 m8 z2 note 3 but this one ive kept the longest best phone bar none. If you want to make it better root it which is pretty simple on a windows computer. Get xposed g3 tweakbox and xblast and enjoy even more freedom. Just get it youll love it.

WP7 android ROM

This is a wp7 android Rom and I don't know much about it but go to http://www.wp7android.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172 and it will have every thing you need. Try it, it looks nice.

oo looks really nice... I do however find it a bit weird that I never heard about it before... Oh well.. I'll save it on my PC for a time when I'll have a crave for a ROM switch (I get these often!)
Thanks for the share!
Wow this looks really nice! How come I've never heard of this one before? It is the closest approach to WP7 I've ever seen for Android ...
Very nice
really like metro UI to be honest - microsoft have done a great job and once you get used to it its really good (easy to develop for too)
Regarding the rom I remember seeing something similar here on XDA some time ago
its not really a rom though is it - its a base mod that will only work with X amount of necessary widgets
Let a project they have been work on but more so the apps than then Rom for now the Rom is only for the Samsung galaxy s. They are working on porting it to other devices.
If you get the app you can kind of get the same feel same the Rom.

LOLS VERY OLD THEME: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910918&highlight=wp7
It is on XDA, it's just that the theme is no longer supported by the dev and so it slowly died..
It's only for the Samsung galaxy s series. I'm surprised it worked on our phone.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy S III Root Status

Hi there,
I purchased a HTC One X to be severely disappointed that there is no root available for my version, and that there may never be one.
I was wondering the root status of the AT&T Galaxy S III. Can all versions be rooted right now?
Thanks
Yes, all of versions can be rooted. I was currently on the AT&T 1747UCLH9 and got mine rooted.
Currently running CM10 Nightlies and loving every moment.

Just go to the development forum. There is a thread just for rooting from stock and such. You'll be in good hands.

Custom ROM? Or Wait and Pray?

Hey guys I love the stock but I'm in the mood for something new. So I'm wondering what do people think? Should I flash a ROM and which are good? Or wait and pray the AT&T and LG release the update soon? The only problem I have is last time I had a cyanogen mod I had trouble updating when I used a back up so should I leave everything stock how it is or install a ROM?

Fear not. LG will release Kitkat for all of its G series, starting Q2. That's include G Pro, G flex, G pad, G Pro lite, and G.

HD2 is legendary. I still have mine and occasionally stop by the HD2 forums to check whats up... This phone is a different league but the likes of HD2 Dev support is too much to ask I guess.
I'm hearing only good things about the KK Roms, so they should now be no. 1 on any Flasher's list

For some people. Some think stock is better...and some like CM like myself......it's user preference. Stability or features ? That's what people choose sides for....oh the life of android:beer:

I love it I use to be an Apple fanboy had almost every one including the first one. I gave up when the 4s came out. I was like this is not the new hotness it's the old and busted shined up. WTF. Same **** different case. Swapped a guy my iPhone 4 for a Galaxy note GT N7000... and fell in love with the big screen and android.

[Q] When can we expect mainstream customROMs?

Now that all G3s can be bootloader unlocked via Bump!! When do you guys think ROMS like PA, Vanir, AOKP and an official release of CM be available to us?
More info about bump > http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...mp-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614
Lmao. Dude you do realize our boot loader was never locked. Good luck waiting. I think most devs are turned off to this phone.
g3 soon to be NOTE 4
Tmos was always unlocked, but we're not much to the entire development community. With all variants unlocked, devs have more of an incentive to make roms. Plain and simple.

Be patient grasshopper now that the bootloader is unlocked it could be any day now for new rom releases
I'm thinking some developers might not want to mess with KitKat when Andorid L is coming out.
Or they are jumping ship

To what? That ****astic note 4 with that dumpster fire of a UI? This phone will see development pick up. Most of the community is waiting on the new nexus line to be released.

The only LG phone I seen with plenty of development wast the LG Nexus 4 and LG Nexus 5 and those werent really full LG projects.
The phones with the most development are usually the HTC / Samsung / Nexus devices.
I knew that when I purchased the G3 but this phone is now going to my phone and il be on Note 4.
The best thing to hit this G3 was Auto Prime HotSpot Tethering hack. Something I hope comes to the Note 4.
I like trying new roms but I'm so happy with this phone that I'm content with Zone, tweaksbox, and xposed.
I love the functions out of the box... Plus 32gb, awesomeness. I'll most likely pick up the g4 as my next phone. Nexus 6 looks tempting but that would be just to play with and use every now and then. I'm almost positive that the camera app won't be nearly as good as the G3.
Luckily they are out right now! Woot woot
New rooms every day out seems, but the cm based ones still have camera and bt issues not for long I suppose!

Were still on beta's with missing features, I'd say hopefully within the new year we'll have full functionally custom roms.

Is there a Marshmallow upgrade for this device?

Yet?

@ Neo: I doubt. We were lucky that we received 5.1.1 at all. It also took a veeeeery long time. So I doubt.
@ S2: P3ople can only port such features if there is a next generation of said device. Currently this tablet has no successor, so there is no 'source' where people could go to copy the changes/features.
Some features can be ported over from n5. The main issue is there isn't any devs left for this device or at least not p600. Sadly the dev for this device is dead.
What goes for mm I doubt Sammy is gonna work to much on this device other then just updating existing lollipop .
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah, we're luck we got Lollipop. No way Samsung is going to put the time in to Marshmallow for us.
