I'm installing this as a last resort before sending my phone back. After hard reset and everything, battery is still a major drain.
For those that are using it, how well does it work? Which settings are you using?
I've only the free version for now but would consider upgrading if it does help?
Also, how do you prevent meebo from disconnecting when the screen turns off? Is that an option on the free version?

About Juice Defender, for me it worked with ~1.6x batterylife.
About Meebo: get Trillian, they made it for free this week. You stay connected even if your phone is off(for max of 1 day, changeable in settings) and you'll receive al the messages which came while your online the enxt time you login again. You can manage all your accounts on the PC with the regular Trillian program and then login on your phone with your Trillian account and all the accounts will be there. It is a real nice app with very low battery consumption.
The free version is very limited. I use the ultimate version and I'm rather happy with it. I don't want to schedule traffic when my phone is idle, but that would be a massive battery saver.
Yes, you can set different settings for each app in the paid versions. You can set a trigger that makes sure your internet is always on when meego is running, even when your screen is off.
But overall, I have no problem to use my phone for more than 12 hours on battery with moderate usage. Maybe you should send your device back anyway.
I had terrible battery drain as well but ive managed to resolve this. have you tried:
1. Deleting all social hub accounts?
2. Deleting your mail account if you use the stock mail app?
3. Updated to latest official firmware?
I was experiencing 10% idle drain per hour. Now i'm at 1-2%. Battery life is a huge improvement compared to my old desire. Dont guve up on this phone.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
In my experience standard battery drain per hour should be
1~2% screen off / data off
3~5% screen off / data on
12~15% screen on / data off
18~20% screen on / data on
WiFi uses less battery than 3g but as you can see display is main problem...

2. I'm using the Gmail stock app. Is that bad?

when my phone is idle overnight - screen off and not in 'awake', it dropped from 100%-56% in 7.5 hours. i posted a screenshot in another thread.

Sounds like you need to clear your battery history, leave it over night, then check what's been using it overnight to me.
I have 5-10% drop at most overnight (7 hours or so).

thanks. how would i clear battery history? is that under setting -> applications -> running ?
Also try clearing data on the software update app. That appeared to work for some people. U definitely have a rogue app eating your battery... Can you give us a list of your running processes immediately after you restart?

So after using Juice defender ultimate for a couple weeks now, with the customizable apps configuration, I see no improvement in battery life.
I lost 50% charge overnight with just push email on (stock gmail app), only synching email and contacts.
For those with this app, what configurations are you using to improve the battery?

I have it setup to turn the data, and wifi off while the screen is off.
Night mode is enabled, from 11:30, to 7:00am
I also have it only allow wifi via location, work or home.
It eats 1-2% while in standby per hour.
and about 3-4% overnight.
i tried juice defender ultimate and it made no difference. I deleted it just because its another app working in the background...
I found it to be very effective when set up correctly. Lose less than 1% an hour at idle.

Mine does that (1-2% per hour at idle) without Juicedefender and push email/facebook active. The problem with JD is also that when set to switch off Wifi and data in the background when the phone is idle, it doesn't always switch them back on after the phone awakens, resulting in many pain in the ass moments.
I bought it 6 months ago and never use it any more.

I paid for Ultimate version, and must say its brilliant!!
Over night 1-2% /6H
Standby 1-3% /Hour
with screenfilter i get 6 1/2 Hours with display on and UMTS today
from 78% drop to 10% and from 10% to 5% in 5Hours again.
Iam suprised with JD, very well

Pretty standard really wifi and mobile data enabled (ultimate version), autosync on ping, 15 minute scheduled check for 30s. I don't have it turn off data at night because the phone is usually plugged in and have data enabled when the screen is on. It also manages the wifi locations so usually it only connects to wifi.

Hmm I'd never heard of that app, but did a bit of research and it looks like it really does wake the connections well with the latest release... will give it a try!
I lost 4%/idle for 12 hours.
I unplugged my phone before I went to bed to see how much it would drain overnight. I only slept for 5.5 hours. My phone had lost 16%. Is this normal?
I was connected to wifi, only thing I had syncing was Facebook for every 4 hours.
I forgot to screenshot the cpu times, but it spent a majority of the time in deep sleep and 384.
Also, what do the red bars mean in BBS?

Try disabling WiFi as well? Im guessing you dont need Facebook to sync while you sleep, just refresh it when you wake up. Noticed you clock down to 384mhz while screen off. odd how still took away a lot for only 5 hours.

I dont think clocking down helps that much. it doesnt stop the same processes from running, and it takes longer to run them with the lower processing power, especially when the phone has all night to do it /
According to your screenshots you have posted, that kakao talk app is in wakelock, keeping the phone from actually sleeping. Although the other stats seem to contradict this i would be willing to bet this is your problem. I would either disable it from syncing in the app, freezing the process, or somehow prevent it from running. I would put money on it improving battery life drastically. I cant be sure of this as i dont use betterbatterystats but i would suspect the red bar is the time spent in wakelock, while the cpu is supposedly in deep sleep.
That doesn't look normal. I get less than 1%/hour overnight. Though I don't use Facebook or Facebook app. I do have 2 Gmail accounts on auto sync. Weather widget sync/hour. Field trip and Google+ sync enabled and wifi is always on when I'm at home.

7 Hour of sleep lost 1% an hour , with Sprint version 2%-3% is used in that time frame.
I'm going install app to monitor tonight sleep session see whats eating energy.

Same here...but yesterdays battery life was remarkable...over 7 hours on with over 4 hours of screen on time at full brightness.
I'm thinking Quick Glace setting enabled is the drainer.
Feature is much more sensitive on ATTs.
hmm maybe higher sleep CPU level on ATTs
Sprint GN2 has whats called wakeup lag. When you wake device display has good 2-3 sec delay before turning on.

During 7 hours of sleep I got 7 emails
The one gps hit is no big deal but 3 of 7 marked in shot are much to active.
Same thing for me. Went to bed at midnight with 92%. woke up at 8am with 84%. 1% per hour. Hopefully someone can figure out how to slow this down. Otherwise, battery life seems fantastic
Wifi remains strong no cut outs during gmail sync so we can rule 0ut connection issue.
It appears Google sync is to busy on 3 marks shown in shot so I'm going to disable everything except Gmail & contacts in sync setting.
Hopefully that will be fix
Drained 2% in 9 hours last night with 2 push email accounts (on exchange and one gmail) and gtalk connected. LTE signal at about -90 and WiFi connected.
Seems reasonable to me.

yeah that's how it should be.
As my screen shot shows there is 7 deep sleep wakeup points.
7 emails received , 7 wakeups shown with 3 of them being way to active.
Now the question is why.
Maybe a 3rd party app kicks in gear when email received.
Only thing I have on board is Fancy Widget with auto update disabled during that time frame

I'm getting similiar to this. Tested 2 nights now and in 10 hours I'm dropping 2%. Multiple emails syncing, weather, Google Talk connected. Great usage battery life too.
In the "screen on" screenshot, live wallpaper active, 4 hours of Bluetooth music, brightness 80%, Web browsing and gaming heavy with 40ish minutes of phone calls and 30 minutes of GPS navigation. I hit 6h screen on time and 24h 32min unplugged when the battery finally died. That is stellar.
Also I'm in a LTE area, usually 4 bars signal strength but throughout my day I do leave LTE coverage multiple times. (I travel a lot)

Not sure if this applies to anyone else but last night I removed several Bloat apps before going to bed. I did NOT restart the phone. From doing this caused my phone to not sleep the whole night. Woke up this morning and restarted the phone. Phone went right to sleep after doing this.

Ok second day of sleep testing.
This time my toy is running Modded N7105ZHALJ4 MultiWindow rom with no 3rd party app installed.
Google sync active with 1 email received during sleep period.
Accuweather widget at 3 hour update interval .
Wifi enabled.
I'm still getting the 1% drain but this time only 1 email was received during 7hr sleep period so I can rule that out as being cause.
What the heck is waking up device lol
The AWAKE activity shown in screen shot should not be happening.
Edit
That small period showing Screen On I checked email device was awake maybe 90 seconds.
But from that point as you can see lots of activity happening that shouldnt
Maybe the small awake times are to check email, check weather, update Google now, Facebook, basically anything that is a widget or has check intervals for updates.

nah only thing running in background is Gmail & accuweather.
Gmail remains silent lights up sleep on push , seeing only one email was received that can be ruled out as problem.
Accuweather at 3 hour update interval so we can rule that out as well.
On Sprint version I had all kinds of background apps running during sleep , 15 emails receved and would lose 3-4% in 9 hour sleep session so somethings not playing well on ATT version.
I stopped by ATT store today ran across GN2 owner thats having same sleep issue like many in this thread

What's keeping my device awake? What wakes it up to begin with?
BetterBatteryStats.
Search for it on XDA and you'll find that XDA members get a free version. While it won't give you better battery usage, it will tell you WHY your battery is being used by something else.

Better battery stats is a great program, highly recommended from me too.
Not sure what the sleep problem is. I've maintained the 2ish% drop in 10ish hours of sleep. Great battery life still. Do you have NFC or Sbeam turned on? They have been known to sometimes cause battery drain and not show up as "awake" when looking at battery stats. Try toggling them in settings even if they are off and see if that makes any impact.

Hi,
As I remember my STAMINA mode work good in .234 fw.. my Mobile Data connection was disable and resumed when screen on.
But after .244 update.. Stamina mode does not work as before, Apps get stopped when screen is offed, but Mobile data connection is still there.
I have no apps in white-list..
Im bit worried, cause i have enabled mobile data 24x7 in LTE mode, so disabling it when screen is off, will help me on battery..
But i done know whether its the way how Stamina mode works..
If someone can explain me.
Thank you

stamina mode is somethings to enable phone enter into deep sleep mode. But after u turn off the screen and lock, if there got any apps consuming the data in background, so phone cant enter deep sleep.
most probably is Auto-Sync, social messaging apps (Viber, Line, Whatsapp, WeChat, Tango and etc). these will enable the phone always keep awake and using the data.. Stamina mode will only works after screen off for a certain time, will enter into deep sleep. If any apps wake it up, then wont work anymore.
So if u want stamina mode works better, turned off Auto-Sync, Mobile data (if u have a lot of social messaging apps).
Hmm..

I have never had much luck with stamina mode, or disabling background processes or whatever and, believe me, I have spent what feels like a total time of 5 weeks of my life on this, as for all of us, trying to get our super smartphones with awesome screens to last more than the waking hours of one day....
Here is a screen shot of my XZL from this morning. (82% battery remaining, 27 hrs of use on battery, screen on time 9% = approx 1.5 hrs in screen diag window I have Auto Sync enabled, and collect emails on regular basis.)
I am using DS Battery saver (pro version but there is a free one to try) and thro custom settings can allow checking for emails at whatever interval I like so, for example, i set DS to wake up (in background, of course) every 20 mins for 2 mins to allow whitelisted email app to check for mails or whatever intervals and apps I want....
SMS and MMS are always instant as are incoming calls (obviously again)
Have this on all my work phones, XZL, GS4, GS3, HTC one etc, and all are now easily able to do two days with what I would call normal usage (3-4 hours screen on per day) emails and calls and the rest all the time
@chuan Hong - why leave GPS on all the time, are you looking at maps all the time? Device locks so fast on GPS why not just turn it on when you need to know where you are or where the phone is? Certain apps will switch it on when signalled to do so remotely...

Srsly man, stop using battery saver apps, that is Not at all required. In fact that app might be interfering with ur stamina mode...
Also, as another person above said that stamina mode requires deep sleep, this aint true(actually, that would defeat the whole purpose of stamina mode). As soon as u turn the screen off, the stamina mode kicks in.
Also, how do u know that stamina mode isnt working? Do u recieve whatsapp notifications after u turn the screen off??
U might wanna check ur stamina mode settings.

Sorry, but I am not stupid enough to run both at the same time! What the battery saver app offers over and above stamina mode is deep sleep so you have missed the point there. For me that is why it saves battery for my usage...
My remarks are intended to offer another possible direction for those who have not succeeded in achieving what they are looking for using stamina mode. For me that is the purpose of this place that we love, xda! Negative comments slagging off others people's posts when they are trying to be helpful are what is rapidly becoming the norm here, and that is very sad...
My remarks are also based on many hours of analysis and research and are, for my usage, bourne out by empirical results!

On a more conciliatory note, sorry if I ranted, you are correct when it comes to the Wi-Fi only tabs and battery usage is worse with an app than with stamina mode. Maybe related to continual switching/seeking of phones looking at 3g, h+, lte in the background which ds obviously removes....

Once off, then can flash rom or anything. GONE.so smart lockscreen protector is important and installed gotya! to catch/track our phone

stamina mode is somethings to enable phone enter into deep sleep mode.

I think you are wrong. Stamina mode should always work the way that it disables mobile data when the screen is off, regardless of how many apps you have running in ackground. that is the whole point of stamina mode. Mine is also not working. I turned it on this morning at 5 am, and at 6 am the battery dropped 3% and i got a notification that i should turn on stamina mode to save battery. The screen was off for that one hour and the phone wasn't in use
Hello People
My phone charger recently went "kaput" on me so I've been using the built in Extreme Battery Saver mode a lot. I really like the functionality of this and was wondering if there was a way to start this mode when you put your phone to sleep no matter what your battery level.
Say for example I was at 80% battery and I put the phone to sleep is there an app or maybe a Tasker profile that is out there that would make the extreme battery saver mode start automatically ?
Thanks

To directly answer your question... I'm not sure. But that's what battery "saver" apps apparently do also.
But as long as you don't have an issue with wakelocks, there should be no reason to do this. Most will tell you that in fact, you'll likely waste more battery life you save... Just like battery "saver" apps. Reinitializing data, WiFi and whatever else you have, every time you turn on the screen will waste more battery than the small amount of drain they normally cause while in standby.
Keep location off. Google now off. Keep screen controlled manually and as dim as is comfortable. And watch for poor signal while on data. That's all you need basically to have good battery life. (that's a simple look at it anyway)
My 2 cents. :good:
