Anyone been able to port Moto Assist? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moto Assist is about the only thing I miss from my Moto x. All of the other text to speech apps have too much other stuff going on. I know there's a few apk's that need to be in place for it to work but I haven't had any luck finding the right combination. I'm doubtful it'll work until Motorola drops marshmallow. Anyone else looking to get Moto Assist working on their 5x?

Fitbit Surge

Just bought a Surge, which works perfectly with my iPhone. However, my Android phone of choice, the M8 is unable to receive call/text notifications, which pretty much defeats the purpose of the Surge.
Looking at their compatibility chart, it would seem that our M8 needs to have Lollipop in order for this to work, where other phones do not. I don't really get why. Samsung and LG phones have some kind of Bluetooth support that stock Android doesn't? Anyway, even though it's Dev edition, I don't plan to upgrade my M8 any time soon. It's rooted with S-Off and I plan to keep it that way. Looks like the Surge is going back, unless the fixed APK from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2492436 allows notifications to somehow work.
Any update on this? I have the same situation. My iPhone 5s works great with my new Surge but my Galaxy Note 4 Dev edition not so much?
anyone have any luck with this tossing up weather to return my charge hr for the same reasons
have seen one report of it working on pre lollipop roms but who wants to go back?
I have same problem. I think its a app issue . Not the phone.

VK810.4G Need to get to 5.1

As the title says, I have a VK810 that I desperately need to get to 5.1 or greater.
I have been looking all over for a way with no luck. I have an audio controller that won't work properly with the tablet without it.
Seems like verizon is never going to release the update.
Can anyone assist?

There's a CM12.1 ROM in Development or Original Development, and more recent builds you can find by looking for @invisiblek 's site. You can't get mobile data on them. Some had luck getting mobile data to work for a little while on more recent builds but I never had luck, and I know it stopped working for a friend of mine who out world for originally.
It's too soon to give up on another official update in my opinion. The second official 5.0.2 release came out three months ago, and to compare, on the VS985 G3, there were three months between the second 5.0.1 and 5.1.1, and updates will never come out as fast for the G Pad 8.3 as for the G3 although I think perhaps the first Lollipop for the VK810.4G came out before it did for the G3, but you know what I mean. The phones are more of a priority.

Question about software updates

Hi everyone, im a long time Sony user, my actual phone is a Z1. It launched with Android 4.2 and it keep's updating until Android 5.1.1.
My question is, Motorola will keep releases in similar way?
I'm insterested in the Moto Z Play, probably i will buy it in two weeks, is a nice update to my actual phone and i love the idea of the motomods, JBL sound and extra battery are really nice.
Will this phone get one or two Androids release?
Thank you for reading.
It was on 6.0 and now 7.0, I think we can expect much mores updates
II disagree., we got N. I really do not foresee us getting O and if we do it will be so late into it that P would be due soon at that point.
But either way it is a nice phone.
thanks both of you for your answers!

VoLTE Question

Hello everyone,
Longtime Moto user. I got a Droid Turbo that is on its last leg. Gone though a few screens and now it will not charge. I have a battery replacement on the way to see if that fixes anything but if not I will be joining the pixel group after being a die hard Moto fan for 7 years. (Got an old S4 as my current backup phone though)
My question is if I buy it though google so i can have my unlocked bootloader, will i still have VoLTE/Video Calling when on Verizon?
Thanks

I'm rooted and have VoLTE and wifi calling. Don't know about video calls though. Don't buy the Verizon version though.

If you buy the phone through Google and use it on Verizon, Video Calling, VoLTE and WiFi calling will work. You will be able to unlock the bootloader and root.
Thank you both. That is what I wanted to know. Video calling I don't care about as much (Even though my wife does use it it is always pixelated and there are other video apps) but being able to Call and be on the internet at the same time as I do IT/Security Camera work i do need to be able to be on the phone and internet.
I did order a battery for my Turbo just to see if that will do anything but honestly I wish the Pixel had IR sensors like the Moto phones do. If they had those I would switch in a heart beat. Plus i like my hard keys. can't stand softkeys.
But again thanks for answering me guys.

fastest,lightest rom for 2014 Moto G v4.4.4

Hi,I have a Moto G from 2014,was originally a Cricket phone, unlocked after 6 months.i got it used and am using atnt gophone service and it is Slow, often the text input online takes 5sec to appear,my email logins take 10sec or more to complete and often it takes 5-6taps for any response. Is there a rom that people recommend to speed up this phone.if it lightened the bloatware that's fine, all I use are Firefox, which is very slow, open office, phone n text plus pix. Also am unable to access inner part s of some websites, pages won't load.
Not sure what exact version this is, just says Moto G,sys version peregrine 21.1.45 cricket cricket and rom is 3.4.42-g5263e7f hudson [email protected]#30 dated 6.29.14
Appreciate any help or information about this.
Hard to get something silk smooth on this phone, but I am currently using
- Nexus Expierience
with ZER0 Byte Kernel
You should look around the Moto G 2014 Forum, Might just find something that gives you the expierience you want.
Might be possible that you have a 1st Gen Moto G (If it only says Moto G, not Moto G 2014).
If thats the case, than the forum you should visit is the Moto G Forum
thanks
I really appreciate your suggestions, will give them a try.
