Hi all,
When I watch Netflix or prime everything is fine. But when I stream videos, the brightness and contrast ate too low.
Is there a way to adjust this? Adjusting the TV makes no sense because it would mess up everything else.
Any ideas?

Is there any app to control HDMI features?
I want the phone display to be switched off when HDMI is connected. I use to watch movie but the phone display is on meanwhile.
This question also bugs me but I always forget to ask here. To have the power used efficiently we should be able to turn off the phone display right? Is there any way?
Fortunately my bravia has a USB port so it can charge the phone basically unlimited runtime. However when I take off the battery, the usb itself cannot fully power on the phone with HDMI on it. Therefore battery needs to be always installed as well.
There's no way to turn the display off, though I've heard of using widgetsoid or any app that lets you set custom brightnesses to set the brightness to actual zero (display off).
Personally, I just set the brightness to minimum to reduce battery drain but I agree that there should be a way to turn it off when using HDMI.
In the video player (I use MX Video Player), the video playing can be set at the lowest brightness and the HDMI output is not affected. However if I use further screen brightness reducing app (example is Screen Filter) affecting entire phone display, that one affects the HDMI output, it gets dimmed as well, so its useless for the purpose.
What a basic thing but is not thought of. Strange.
First of all, please excuse my english, I'm from Italy.
Some times I watch some sport events in streaming on my Xperia-Arc through the browser (vipbox.tv)
Would it be possible to watch the same streaming on the TV, connecting the Xperia-Arc thorough the hdmi ? Or does this connection work only for watching the photoes and videos on the phone's multimedia gallery.
In other words, does the hdmi reply (/mirror) everything that is showing on the phone's screen ?
Thanks, Carlo
Answer is yes.

When I'm viewing videos in the standard video viewer and the Power saver is ON the brightness is too low. This started happening recently, I think after JB update.
Do you guys have the same problem? Is there a solution besides using another viewer of course?
Turn Auto-brightness off and set it at a point where comfortable for you?
I would suggest trying either MX Player or Mobo Player from the Play store both are free, and both have hardware / software support. You can control the brightness level in both apps, by swiping up and down on the left side of the screen. Hope this helps!
hi, i was wondering, i have a rooted phone and i think i set my cpu to low when the screen is off because the music player sometimes stutter but its fine when i turn the screen on, i was wondering if anyone else noticed this? or if just set the cpu to 100 mzh highes when screen off is fine, so then it will just go highe when im playing music while the screen is off?

Has anyone else noticed if the picture produced by their Fire TV Stick looks dimmer than other streaming sticks and boxes? I have a Samsung BluRay player connected to the same TV. In general the picture looks dimmer on the FireTV stick.
I actually have the opposite the fire stick and ftv2 seem to confuse the my DCR settings and backlight on my lcd and amplify the white point rather than mute it. We should trade tvs :/ i hate all lcd tvs dont have multi user or smart presets (per input or day/night/time).
Mine is widespread and not just a xbmc or amazon video issue. But i suppose your fix is the reverse of mine and use your tv settings to calibrate your white point DCR/backlight (notoriously high on samsung).
I have noticed that when playing HDR videos on youtube, screen brightness automatically jumps to max. No matter if you manually change the system brightness, doesn't affect playback brightness. I have turned off adaptive brightness as well, still no dice. This only happens when you go fullscreen. Doesn't seem to change brightness if you are watching video in portrait mode or PIP mode.
Anybody else noticed this behavior or know the reason for this? As far as I know, P2XL doesn't support HDR (like LG V30 or any other device that supports it). I am on youtube 12.41.xx.
It does support HDR and it only kicks in for fullscreen youtube. The brightness is HDR, HDR is not just a wider color pallet but also controlling brightness of the areas.
Cool. Good to know. I was under the impression that P2XL doesn't support HDR as its not mentioned on product specs page on google store.
