Does anyone know of a setting or anything that would keep the compass from working? I've tried doing a hard reset twice now and it still won't work. I may try returning it and getting another watch if I can't get it to work.
There is no compass.

I swear I used to be able to use a watch face with a compass and it would work just fine. Also would work with compass apps on the phone.

Can confirm, there is really no compass. No use in getting the watch replaced.
Which watchface were you using?
Dark suite and classic watch faces have compass. You guys are silly hehehehe

Go into Diagnosis(call ##634#) and enter *#0*# and press Compass near the bottom right of the screen.
There, you have a built-in compass app.
It seems this trick also works on NoDo, just that it's more jumpy whereas Mango is perfectly smooth.
If it doesn't work, you may need to re-calibrate your compass.
Refer to the video on how to do it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP3d00Hr14o
I know it's an iPhone in the video, but just follow the same figure 8 motion with the compass activated. It should work after you do it.
UPDATE: For those on Mango, it is highly recommended that you uninstall your Diagnosis app and re-install it to get the latest version, Diagnosis_DU ver0628
There are reports that this does not work on HTC Devices. As of now, I can only confirm that it works on Samsung Omnia 7
Sorry, but how do I get to "diagnosis" screen in order to enter the code?
Go to phone, and dial ##634#. After that, when you exit, the app will appear in the app list on your phone.
Mine doesn't show any reading under the "Deg" value nor does the actual compass image turn. Is that what's supposed to happen?
Only the X, Y and Z values change...

You can try rebooting your phone.
If it doesn't help, you may need to re-calibrate your compass.

Uninstall the diagnosis app then reinstall it. Now, it should show Diagnosis_DU ( ver0628) at the top left. Then, try accessing the compass again.

Not sure. I'm using an omnia 7.
You might want to try and update the results here, so other users will know as well.

I did that and it doesn't work. Could have been an issue with my device, so I thought I'd better ask.
It's not working on HTC device.

Uninstalling then re-entering ##634# updated my diagnosis version and now compass works! Awesome tip and thanks
Worked for my Omnia 7 too! Thanks!
This is my first post, please tell me if there is anything wrong with the structure.
I have tried everything, installed every single rom on xda, but i can't make the rotation and motion sensors to work. They used to work, until i flashed the leaked 4.3 stock from samsung... after about a week they stopped working. Out of the blue really, the phone has no dents or bumps.. any solution?

Get GPS STATUS app from play store, open it up and hit the menu button, then click on TOOLS, this will let you calibrate the sensors.
Hope this will solve it, please let me know :victory:

Can you give me an example of how you know that these sensors are not working? What are the scenarios where you see it not working?

Well you can't go on landscape mode.. calibration does nothing. Can't use apps that depend on gyroscope.
The motion features won't work at all, non of them. Quick glance etc.
Hi guys sorry if this is a silly question but I am wondering if the accelerometer on the Sony Smartwatch 2 is activated on the default firmware. I know the Pebble's wasn't until the recent update. According to reading there definitely seems to be one: https://developer.sony.com/develop/wearables/smartwatch-2-apis/guides/hardware-specifications/ but I haven't found an application that actually uses it.
Is it possible to to use it to track your steps via the accelerometer without having to have the phone in your pocket (but obviously having to be within Bluetooth range)?
Unless perhaps my accelerometer on my specific SW2 is broken.
Thanks in advance!
If you download the examples from Sony for developing for SW2, there is an axample app for the sensor.
Anyway the sensibility of the sensor only makes it suitable for detecting movement and turn on screen accordingly and no much more I guess
It's active. I know of 3 apps off the top of my head that use it. Yes, it can be used as a step counter. I know of one app that uses it for that, but it only works when the app is open.

Thanks for the reply. Could you tell me which app it is that counts steps?
According to the attached picture extracted from the Sony site there is definitely an accelerometer capable of being a pedometer. The app I have (walkmate) only counts my step with my phone in my pocket - i.e. it is only using the watch as a display and not a counter.

Cool. Then its not a hardware issue. You can try reinstalling the camera app (If u have not already tried it).

How long ago did it stop working, was it after a update?
Just double checking. The flashlight works every time.... and if not you tried the hardware test right? This was a known issue on the 920's

the material does not have problem, it is at the level of the capture of the picture that it does not flash since in video mode it works perfectly.

yes I have done uninstall it and then reinstall.
You are basically taking shots in the dark on this (no pun intended)
Maybe list out all the things you have done, what OS version, and update the issue started occuring....not sure who can offer help on this or what you are willing to do.
Go back to 8.1 if you cannot figure it out. Swap the back cover just to see...
I can think of only 3 scenarios:
-OS update caused
-App udpate caused
-Signs of Hardware degredation--meaning to turn torch on takes different voltage/amps then a burst (camera flash), or is triggered differently. Maybe something on the board is not working right in conjunction with the app. If you rollback to 8.0 you will know for sure on this.
it was after a update.
Hi folks. Just got my Watch to use with my Note 9 and exploring it.
One thing I can't do is see on the Watch what its GPS position is.
Is there a way to readout the lat/long?
On the watch natively no, but you can download the quick GPS position app from the store and it will show you. It's free.
