Hi everyone!
I've had an Xperia s for a few mounths and now I want to mod it.
I've read so many guides, but now Im so confused.
- Is essential to unlock the bootloader? Which are the advantages and the disadvantage of unlocking of the bootloader? I've read that it deletes the Bravia Engine... Is it true?
-In the past, with other smartphones, I used to install new ROM by CWM, but in a tutorial the cyanogenmod is flashed by using flashtool...
What do I have to do?
And what about kernel?
Thanks! (Sorry for my bad english )

Not true about Bravia Engine. And the advantage of having an unlocked bootloader, well for one you can install custom ROM's.

Yes, download this kernel : S_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_FW-211_v1 and flash it with Flashtool.
But before you should read the forums and see what type of ''everything'' works for your phone and only then try to execute all of the above.

Try both and enjoy. Why limit to one ROM
Stock ROM is somewhat stable
With custom ROM you will get android pie

Just flash ROM and gapps and don't flash firmware while flashing custom ROM
While flashing stock MIUI ROM use fastboot ROM to flash and there won't be any chances of brick. MiFlash software checks bootloader index before flashing a ROM so it is safer way

So Finally installed GCAM after unlocking the bootloader , installed Redwolf recovery & rooted with Magisk & its working good. Will i be able to upgrade to MIUI 10 with OTA or have to follow some other process?
Also, which ROM & kernel setup do you use.
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can upgrade to MIUI10.. but you have to flash full recovery ROM, still you will get OTA update from xiaomi but its always recommended to flash complete recovery ROM
I've been on the same updates since like may. I have stock recovery, its rooted so my boot-loader was unlocked at one point and should still be still. So what do I need to do to update to a treble ROM? I see I can flash directly through fastboot right?
