Trying treble roms. - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

I've been on the same updates since like may. I have stock recovery, its rooted so my boot-loader was unlocked at one point and should still be still. So what do I need to do to update to a treble ROM? I see I can flash directly through fastboot right?

Need help with update.

I have a rooted Honor 8 pro (DUK-L09C675B130), with an update in queue but everytime I download the update the phone boots into TWRP and it is not able to flash it. I searched for threads to unroot the phone (or get the old recovery) but I didn't find any solid answer. Also, when I try to enter recovery using the button combination Huawei E recovery shows up instead of TWRP. And TWRP is unable to flash anything, be it an official update or custom files. Any kind of assistance is appreciated. Thank you!

BND-L21 8.0.0 on rooted phone with TWRP as Recovery

Hi all,
Need some help to update to Oreo.
My phone has unlocked bootloader, TWRP for recovery and rooted with SuperSu.
I download the new rom, say Update Now and then boot in recovery but once there impossible to flash the ROM.
What can I do ? lock the bootloader and unroot ?
Thank you for your answers.

I'm currently just stock + root + V4A + sub themes. I've run DU, AquariOS, and Nitrogen. They're all very good, but the Dev for Nitrogen is very good, and very involved in his thread. Can't do much better than that :good:

It's pretty easy. After you fastboot into twrp, flash the twrp installer zip, then your custom kernel, I like Flash or Ex, then flash the magisk zip. BTW, if your going to run Nitrogen, you'll need to downgrade to 8.1 first. Which, unfortunately, will wipe your phone again

Yeah, unfortunately, you'll need to be on July 8.1 before you flash nitrogen. Just the way it is my friend.

If you didn't do ...fastboot flashing unlock_critical...then, yes, just run fastboot flashing lock. Are you familiar at all with updating your device with factory images?

Try both and enjoy. Why limit to one ROM
Stock ROM is somewhat stable
With custom ROM you will get android pie

Just flash ROM and gapps and don't flash firmware while flashing custom ROM
While flashing stock MIUI ROM use fastboot ROM to flash and there won't be any chances of brick. MiFlash software checks bootloader index before flashing a ROM so it is safer way

Also, which ROM & kernel setup do you use.
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know yes but you need to root it again like what you normally do with and to be sure flash ota rom again be because of a/b partitions but you also need to do the root again when you flash the rom for the second time
