I am looking for a rom that is close to stock and will allow you to boost your volume to levels above standard levels. I am running a rom on my Galaxy Note II phone that will allow me to boost the phone volume via boeffla sound. Is there anything for the Tab S rom-wise that is similar. I am currently running ironrom but the sound settings in STweaks doesn't seem to make much difference.

For pure volume go with Booster. For pure sonic wonderfulness, and an adequate volume boost, go with V4a.

V4a is not hard to install, if you follow a good guide. I've tried several methods, with varying success but have settled on this one. Works every time, no muss or fuss:
Simply flash the supolicy.zip, *then* the LolliViPER_TAB_S.zip. I've also included an explanation of the fx settings. I do this because it has taken untold hours searching & reading & trying & failing to get viper to work, and I feel for those who are in that predicament.
None of this work is mine. I simply compiled it after my exhaustive/exhausting quest finally paid off. Good luck [emoji4]

Is Booster on Google Play? I'd like to try both (viper/booster) to see how they compare.
Also, on Viper, do you use the normal volume control or within Viper itself?

Booster link is in first post. V4a has a "set and forget it/always on" volume boost setting within the app. Then you use the regular volume control, but with a much (if you want) higher max volume.
If you read up on v4a you'll definitely want it. Believe me, it makes everything sound better. Numerous controls/presets/irs files, etc., etc......

NOTE: This is ONLY for rooted, International Samsung Galaxy S III's. It will not work on any other model as far as I know.
If anyone's been following my thread on SGS3 volume hacks and modifications you'll most likely already know what this app does, if not, here's the thread which should explain everything you need to know!
Now, this is by no means finished, it's simply a 'proof-of-concept' app at the moment, showing that it does indeed work in app form!
UPDATE 17/08/12: I'd consider this fully in beta and no longer just a 'proof-of-concept'. So far, the Speaker, In-Call and Ringtone options are done.
Requirements
- An International Samsung Galaxy S III with Root Access and Busybox
- The ROM you're running must be a Samsung ROM (i.e. not CM)
- A knowledge of ADB, Fastboot and the flashing process, just in case.
Features
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

You can alter the "Output Volume" and the "Boost Volume" for the Earpiece, Speaker, Headset, Headphones and Dock for the Normal sound, the In-Call sound and the Ringtone ("Dock" options not available for 'In-Call').
GVM will also now read from the file and fill in the current values that are in use.
The "Output Volume", by default, is set to 50 and can reach a maximum of 63. The "Boost Volume", on the other hand, isn't used normally (so it's default is 0) but can be increased to 55 (the combination of 63 and 55 is the loudest you can possibly push this phone, via this method, and is NOT recommended as it is insanely loud and distorts horribly!).
If you have already altered the "default_gain.conf" file on your device it should still work fine provided you haven't added any new lines or screwed about with the format. In any case, it's probably wise to replace it with the version attached to this post, just so everything still works smoothly (open the .zip and move the file inside, the "default_gain.conf", to "/system/etc/" and you're good to go!)
Bugs/Upcoming Features
- The "Terms and Conditions" page opens every time you open then app. This will be changed to only the first time.
- The values you can enter are not limited, so you can input higher values than 63. It will simply "break" the audio on your device until you change it back.
- All the other options (such as "In-Call" and "Ringtone") will be added in soon.
- It doesn't currently "read" from the file and fill in the current values. This is a planned feature.
Change Log
V1.0.2 - 29/08/2012
- There's now an option to flash the original 'default_gain.conf' for those of you who have edited ones
- Force Close on Jelly Bean has been fixed (permission problem)
- Now displays a message each time you apply to let you know it has finished
V1.0.1 - 17/08/2012
- 'Terms and Conditions' only appears once when you first run the app
- 'In-Call' and 'Ringtone' pages added
- The app now reads from the 'default_gain.conf' file and fills in the values you are currently using for you
v1.0.0 - Release Beta
Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Enjoy!

Hi,
Meltus, so for the SIII Volume+ is no longer needed? "GVM" only for the SIII (obviously ) and Volume+ is more a "generic" app?
With this new app+your sound hack all is ok?
Or I misunderstood something? Because with SiyahKernel (which comes with some sound modifications) Volume+ was not great, I mean no much more improvement like on my Gnex. So with "GVM" it's good...?
Thanks
EDIT: note, you will tell me to try and see ... that's what I'll do
In any case thanks for this and also thanks for Volume+ wich helped me for my Gnex and his poor volume sound

That completely depends.
If you only use Volume+ as a generic volume booster then no, it isn't really needed anymore. But Volume+ is an equalizer so you can tweak the sound as much as you like, making it have much more bass or much more treble, etc. This mod simply increases the volume. They should both work fine together, although I've not really tested them that much.
nice app thank you
Would be good if you could have it read the existing values and display them so you know what you are currently at.
Excellent work though.

Man, thanks for creating the app. Is a great idea.
But, I cannot make this nor the manual edit in "[MOD][ROOT] Audio Hacks and Modifications + New Insanely Loud Volume Hack!! (post 2)" work.
This app is only install, give permissions, modifiy & save, and that shoul be it, right? I have the GT-I9300 running stock ROM.
I will wait for a next update.

I'm using your default_gain.conf file from the insane volume thread, the one with your altered values and the extra bit. I take it it's the extra bit causing the issue? Will push the original one over.

I'd recommend setting the output volume to max (63), the Boost value to 0 and if that seem too high you can start reducing it until you find a good volume. If it's not loud enough for you then you can start increasing the Boost value until you find a good level!

I try this.
The boost Volume is amazing
I recommend to not increase this setting to much.
I try 30 and have a big surprise
My settings are now 60 for output and 5 for boost (for normal and Ringtone) and it seems good.
Anyway your mod is really impressive and with this app it's perfect.

I don't use Rootbox ROM so I'm not sure, but most AOSP JellyBean ROM should support long press power + volume down buttons to take screenshot, just hold both down a little bit and it should take a screenshot. Some AOSP ROM has settings to include screenshot in the power menu (long press power button).

Try ROM Control >> Power Menu (this is just a guess as I said, I don't use Rootbox). If it's not there, look in Rootbox setting. Also, it's power + volume down buttons, not home button.

Aosp or Touch wiz?
(Stock music player could be Samsung's or Apollo)
It doesn't work on Aosp due to drivers.
When you install drivers select Cortex A9 With NEON
Reboot
Activate the equalizer from V4A. Also make sure you have the correct v4a version installed. There's one for 4.1.1 to 4.2.2 and 4.3

What if I dont wanna use the equalizer just wanna add bass? When I adjust the bass settings without enabling equalizer nothing happens. Also I don't get the option to select Cortex A9 with Neon, I only get high quality, super high quality and power saving as my options. I get some (very little) change when forcing compatibility mode. Im using tw 4.3.
I checked the driver status and it says no to processing everything else seems normal. Also I'm using headphones.

You should still be able to activate bass only if you leave all other settings alone as they were. You'll still need to check the first box I believe. If it's not asking you for Cortex A9 Neon, you're using the wrong installer (YOU NEED the drivers), or one that I don't know of. Try 4.3 from the market. Search for V4A FX 4.3 on the market.

Well I installed the 4.3 version from the play store and installed driver. After reboot I checked driver status it says not enabled and not processing, even though I have viper enabled. Doesn't matter if equalizer was enabled or not
Totally weird. I know from experience that 4.3 Touchwiz functions with V4A from the market using Cortex A9 NEON drivers after a reboot.
I've done it three separate times and three more separate times on 4.1.2, something's got to be up with the install process. You may have to undo the other V4A changes (if it was a flashable and not an app) before this works then.

update: its a no go. did not increase the volume at all. tried flashing a few times and still nothing hopefully it gets fixed soon, i really love to have my phone loud. thank you for your work though.

works great running liquid smooth 3.0 .Doesn't seem to have any effect on Bluetooth volume though. If there's a way to apply it to Bluetooth volume that would be great .I don't use wired head phones just Bluetooth so I can say if it works on wired headphones or not .

Good looking out. Mod works on Sprint Hellfire as well.
Only two small issues. As someone else mentioned, it doesn't appear to effect bluetooth call volume. Another issue I've ran into is when I am in a call and switch to bluetooth, everything works fine. The next call I make will have very low volume. I have to decrease the volume and then increase it in order for it to work at regular volume.
Is there any way to undue this? I flashed it without first creating a backup and I don't want to restore a backup from weeks ago... I enjoy this mod for most things (listening to music, car aux, etc) but when I'm in a call with someone the lowest volume setting blows my eardrum.. I have to hold the phone about 2 inches away from my ear.

I flashed this mod on a few different ROMs and definitely noticed a huge difference in the speaker volume. The wired headphones seem to stay the same. This is awesome though, no more sleeping through alarms!
It works great now! But I get a couple random reboots after flashing this. Idk what it could be due to

Thanks for this I flashed it on my friends s3 after him complaining it was too low volume. Now he doesn't even complain
Thank you for this!!! Works as advertised on carbon nightly 3/3. Now i don't have to ask everyone to speak up.
Running flawless here too, SlimKat stable. Thank you very much!!

Unfortunately no, when you run the app for the first time, it prompts you for root access to install audio drivers required

There is a thread that does IRS requests so you can use it conjunction, to get you to that right sound.
Viper4Android FX v2.3.3.0 not working with Spotify
i'd just a bought a Note4 N910U (HK version). Rooted perfectly with CF, so that i could use V4A with Spotify just as i did with my i9505, but not joy. V4A, works with Google Play though - I checked the driver status in V4A, and it says processing = Yes. Not so with Spotify.
I've have tried disabling SoundAlive and AdaptSound. I've also moved V4A using TI backup to system app.
Any hints?
Thanks in advance

have you went into to Settings>Sound>Music Effects> Then choose ViperFX for your Default? You can always uninstall then reeinstall make sure you didnt miss the disable LPA
Thanks for speedy reply.
yeah, i had changed the sound settings too.
The other thing i did just now was edit my build prop. My original build.prop didn't have the lpa lines in there, so i added it in - it was a bit gutsy as i didn't fancy restoring my rom on day 2 of having the note 4. Restarted, and again, no joy.
Does anyone else have V4A working with Spotify on Note 4?

tried all 3 of them buddy... battery saving, high quality and super high quality.
i only use Spotify for my music needs, so it's bit frustrating v4a ain't working on my N910U, whereas it was perfect on i9505 Though like i said, it works fine in Google Music.
i've been thinking about the differences between i9505 and N910U, and maybe its could be 4.4.4 or the new touchwhiz, but then if you guys have got Spotify working on your N910x then i'm probably going to have put some extra time aside and maybe start from scratch... :crying:
That said, Note4 has only just got released in some countries the other day so maybe others might have a similar prob and an easy fix...

Maybe it has to do with the exynos chip you have, let me make sure Spotify works for me because I rarely use it.
what directory do you put the .prf bass file in?

Open viper up, press menu, new profile, save it as something random just so viper can make a directory and then save it under viper/kernel folder. You should see that the one you created should be there as well. Then press menu again on the app and press load profile and you should see the bass one
for some reason, my menu doesn't have the "new profile" option in it
viper is working, and sounds great, I just wanted to try your .prf profile..
do I need to load the viper xhifi too?
thanks

Viper is the only reason I root my devices.
