Hello, my wife bought the s6 edge plus and will not stop bothering me about how to insert signature into text message like her s5. I can't seem to find an option. So I believe Samsung left it out. Is there any root method to add it back in? Tired of hearing that the phone sucks due to this "signature"....
You may be able to find a messaging app in play store that has "add signature" in app menu. Samsung doesn't include it anymore.
Forget about root, it won't help and your wife may clock you over the head with the plus.

I'm new to this forum as I recently purchased a T-Mobile S4.I have Googled and searched like crazy and I can't find an answer to this problem.
When I encounter a link, or anything else that brings up the Application Selection dialog, I pick out the application that I would like to use as the default, and then select "always". Android responds with a message about how to clear my selection later on... But it doesn't remember the selection. If I pick another link, I have to go through it all again.
I've cleared all defaults, checked the one I'm trying, used the default app picker, tried the Xposed Xposed framework... I'm out of ideas. I really want to set up my apps and move on.
I'm not a noob to Android. The phone is rooted, but on a stock room. TWRP is installed.
Any ideas?

It's Samsung, not Android. THis has been an issue for me with the S4, S5, Note 3 and Note Pro 12. Might have been with the S3 but I don't remember. They're screwing up the expected Android behavior, likely to annoy people into using the apps they want us to use.

I can't say I've ever experienced problems with my preferences sticking; Samsung apps or not...
I have this exact problem on my rooted, unlocked S4, running the latest KitKat update (4.4.2). It only seems to be happening with the phone diling action, though. For all other actions, once I pick the default app, it sticks, but clicking on a phone number link always brings up the default selection prompt, even though I've already selected the stock Phone app a zillion times already. The stock Phone app comes pre-selected in the window, which means that it does recognize the previous selections somehow (and also, in Application Manager, I can see that it is selected as the default "for some actions"), and yet, I still get prompted EVERY TIME. The only way to get rid of the prompt is to uninstall every single app that is capable of handling the dialing action (Skype, Zoiper, Avast, Lookout, etc.), and ONLY then does the Phone app get launched by default.
This is beyond annoying, considering that dialing from phone number links in various apps is just about the most frequent action I use.
If anyone has any idea how to fix this problem, I'd be very grateful.
Every time a message arrives I get the Verizon message nag screen wanting to use their 30 day trial of their messenger software, click decline, pick the stock Google messenger, next text that comes in. same deal this is getting old, and even Verizon has no solid answer..
anyone have a work around for this yet?

I may not be understanding your issue correctly, but have you tried setting the default texting app to the the Google App in Settings/More/Default SMS App?
I did try that also compared the settings to the both htc one M8s' we have.
I finally just did a factory reset and rechecked the settings and ticked the stock messaging app and so far its fine..
Weird one as it was checked before the reset..
I'd love to get all of this extra Verizon "gumbo" off these phones, I can't stand how much garbage they load on them.
Root and uninstall that junk app. I did.
I didn't think anything was available for the htc one m8 on Verizon to do so yet?
Verizon Messaging can be disabled under the App Manager. You can also, using a custom launcher, drag the icon to the top of your screen under App Info, and disable it there. Same goes for their VVM and Caller ID apps.
I can't wait to get root. NFL Mobile constantly popping up. EVERY SINGLE TIME I GET A CALL THAT CALLER ID THING COMES UP. Verizon Messenger, etc. WTF. This is ridiculous.
Go to Settings, Application Manager, All and uninstall what you can and if you can't do that, disable.
What is more worrying is all the features they removed.
Aye man be glad you don't have a Galaxy phone lmao, especially S5 & under, those things are filled with bloat from bottom to top and without root are the legit true phone nightmare. S6 improved a bit but not as much as it could've been. Satisfied with my G4 so far, just got it today and not too much bloat, I can live with it.
You can disable most of that stuff right from the application manager section of settings, and you will not see it anymore.
If you want to go hardcore use the debloater tool. I've hidden every app I normal remove with root including concierge.
The G4's bloat is insignificant compared to the Sammy phones man!

That annoying caller id can be semi-taken care of. If you are using an app and a call comes in, you can have it only pop up a much smaller icon that lets you know of an incoming call instead of that humongous annoying full screen caller id. From the home screen, tap the dialer icon. You have to be on 'Dial' or 'Recent', just hit the 3 dots in the top right and select Call settings. Down towards the bottom there is an option "Incoming voice call pop-up" that is unchecked by default. This will give a much smaller pop up that you can use just like the full screen. And if you don't want to see it when a call comes in, you can just swipe it up and the call will eventually go to voice mail. Or you can just hit decline and continue using the app that you were.
Hope this helps some :good:

Exactly what I was gonna say. Hope it solves his problem. Have there been any updates from codefire team other than the one last week. No eta just trying to follow progress. So I can decide whether to take phone back from wife. Lol. Still rocking g2 with cloudyg4 Rom and dori kernel.
Did anyone else get the update (today) for Verizons "supports and protection" app. My concern is the "protection" part...it appears to be an antivirus. Fine, with every other scenario, with our possible future exploit...I turned it off/disabled it for piece of mind.

I have disabled protection as well; along with few others. (verizon navigation and visual voice mail)
Huh, I guess I was being dense. Every phone I've had before the disable option was turned off for all the bloat from the get go so you couldn't disable. I just disabled a metric ton of crap on my phone. MUCH better already! Thanks XDA!!!!!!
Yea I use Nova Launcher and drag and drop unwanted Apps to the desktop "App Info", where it goes directly to the option to either Uninstall or Disable. I weeded through all of the App Drawer apps, then dive into the actual Application Manager where I Disabled several there too.
I DO love the Visual VM app, so that is the one thing I like to keep.
For some reason I liked there messaging app better than the LG one.

One (free) alternative to the Visual Voicemail app is Google Voice. You can configure your phone send unanswered calls to your Google voicemail instead of Verizon's. This will automatically transcribe the emails for you. It can be a bit hit or miss, but it's better than nothing! It also lets you play your voicemails individually without having to call in and listen to them all.

DT Ignite
Be sure to disable DT Ignite (uninstall not available). It is used by the cell companies to push apps to your phone without your consent. I was wondering why Cookie Crushers and another app showed up two days after I activated my G4. A Google search turned up an article showing that this app is what does it. At least I was able to uninstall the added bloatware that was installed via DT Ignite.

Yea I used Google Voice and it was nice. It worked enough for me to get a jist of the message but it would be really funny sometimes. I REALLY like Verizon's Visual Voicemail. It is just easy. I like being able to delete multiple messages at once and pick and choose.
@OP, coming from the G2 the Bloatware is about the same. This should be no surprise. I had a Verizon G2 that had official lollipop. I think the apps were exactly the same. I use the same method I used on the G4. I use Nova to drag apps and uninstall what I can and Disable the rest.
There is an actual Debloater Tool, but you have to be careful with it as it lists EVERYTHING. I find it much easier to do it my way. No PC. No Drivers. No risk of removing an important app.

While I do agree verizon should do anything the phone, the extra software they added on isn't 'too' bad once you think of it. I looked at my disabled menu and its about less than 10 apps? It is not as awful as it was on my G2. with a bit of time you can tweek the phone to your liking. Maybe it is Stockholm syndrome but I'm starting to like LG's layout as they have progressed over the past 2 years..I am looking forward to custom roms though
I do not understand why verizon would want anyone to use their messaging app.. all it does is cause confusion and cause people who are unaware they can change default messaging apps to switch to an iphone or something else. I do not understand why they think this is a good thing. the simple stupid solution is always better!
still a bit ticked off that they removed smart settings from our phones (multi user etc). I could honestly live without, but the fact they did it for their personal gain (which actually hurts them) makes zero sense to me.
kinda wished verizon added wireless charging, like the g2... OH well, its a simple enough fix.

Hey Guys, I cant get through the startup wizard on my at&t s6 edge+. Right when I get to the add Samsung Account screen, that little circle that rotates like it is processing pops up and never goes away making it impossible for me to choose any of the 4 options (create account w/ google id, create account, sign in or skip). This is the furthest I can get into being able to use the phone now and it sucks!
I should also add, prior to this, I was able to use this phone and get through the setup wizard by tapping "skip" when the Add Samsung Account part came up. I never really thought twice about it until I tried to download different themes and I was brought to the Samsung store and asked to log in. Thats when the little circle would pop up and act like the phone was processing something or thinking and it would not even progress any further than that. after trying different things to fix it and all failing, i did a master reset thinking it would wipe everything out and i could start over fresh. I was wrong, so here I am!
I have already worked with Samsung support and after an hour of troubleshooting with them, they emailed me a UPS label to send the phone in for possible repair but we're talking roughly 2-3wks without a phone here. This is my work and personal phone so that kind of lead time just doesn't work for me. Hoping to get lucky here instead so, any suggestions?
Thanks so much guys and sorry for the novel. Just trying to provide as many details as possible to help ya'll help me. I am so appreciative to anyone who maybe able to provide feedback. Seriously, thank you!
Emily
There was a plenty apps which enable edge lightning for all apps. But i wonder is there any official info about this issue.
I can't believe they didn't put Facebook Messenger on the list beside all other less important apps.

when i saw the title of your post it made me wonder whether or not anyone has got edge lighting to really work as it should
A few days ago, I got an update for edge screen app, I locked my phone and I found that edge lighting started working for WhatsApp when the screen is off. It seems like Samsung is listening to their customers.
If Samsung company can afford this to them self its very unprofessional.
I'm not talking about some new phone which just came out. Its phone 2 years old and still need to get fixed.
