Have you sorted this? For me the problem was that I followed an old online tutorial that gave me an old version of cmw recovery. Once I'd flashed the new version it worked. Took me a while to figure out though.

Can't flash CM 10.2 assert failed

Okay, just rooted with Odin, have CWM v6. Everything went fine, rooted fine, running stock rom.
Went to flash CM 10.2 Nightly, got assert error.
Used Odin to flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41503727&postcount=13716
That was supposed to update my bootloader. Flashed successful, "PASS" from Odin.
Pull battery, start CWM, wipe data. try to flash CM 10.2 again, and get:
E: Error in /emmc/cm-10.2-20130927-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip
(Status 6)
Installation aborted.
What do I do now?
It lets me install 10.1 just fine.
What version did u update from? The link u posted is lk3, the newest is ucdmg2...
From another forum:
http://goo.gl/H2XYQ3 (link shortened)
"Status 6 is basically trying to read a file that's not encoded in UNIX"

the flashing script might have been modified afterwards by a UNIX-incompatible editor, which makes it unreadable by Android.

[Q] "Status 7" Error When Installing CM 11

I am facing a “Status 7″ error in CWM 6.0.2.8 and 6.0.4.5 while trying to flash CM 11 to my GT-I8160:
Finding update package…
Opening update package…
Installing update…
Error in /sdcard1/Android/Cyanogen Mod 11/Rom/cm-11-20131210-UNOFFICIAL-codina.zip (Status 7)
Installation aborted
I tried flash with CM 10.2, stock I8160XXMG2 Jelly Bean, MIUI v5 Beta 3. I always faced with this error. I never faced an error like this. Other roms (CM 10, 10.1, 10.2, Kyrillos Rom v9, v8, MIUI v5 Beta 3) install correctly. How can I fix this problem?
Flash older version and then new...
Or wait next build with incldued fix for olde recoveries...
Yes me too, today I tried to flash this ROM to my device but it appears the same error, can it be the recovery? I am just using CM10.2 with 4.3.0
I hope this can be fixed.
Regards
Ok. I will wait for the next build. Unless it work, I will flash older version and then new.

E:Error in /data/media/0/cm-11-20141124-NIGHTLY-a5.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
After restarting it got bricked and it is stuck on HTC logo.
I tried flashing other ROM and also the Stock ROM as i can use CWM or TWRP on my phone and also can use fastboot.
But i get the same error everytime i try to flash any ROM. Please Help. Its been a day my phone is bricked.

Yes i did a full wipe !
That file seems to be cm11. Not cm12.
If you can use a custom recovery.. I would grab the newest cm12 nightly for the A5.
Then download the gapps from Cyanogen..
Fresh wipe.. Flash cm12 nightly.. Try and reboot.. Then flash gapps..

Unable to install CM 10.2 on T999L

Dear team
please help me, i am unable to install CM 10.2 on my t999l, i m getting installation aborted error, first i was getting status 7 error but after modifying updater-script many times i am getting installation aborted error. i have also flased cwm recovery 6.0.4.3. maybe i am not modifying the updater-script correctly,
thanks
Did you try adding your bootloader to the updater script? Try it with the phone running the latest release of twrp.

I cannot install a custom ROM on T-320.

When I try to flash a custom ROM I get this error:
E: unkown command [retry_update]
E1001: Failed to update system image.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/lineage-16.0-20200411-UNOFFICIAL-mondrianwifi.zip'
I am using the latest version of twrp(v3.3.1).
Any help is appreciated!

I fixed it by flashing RR(android 7.1.2) and then trying to flash Los.
Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but I believe that this situation applies to me as well.
Today, I have tried multiple times to install the latest LineageOS onto my SM-T700 Samsung tablet using:
twrp-3.5.2_9-0-klimtwifi.img.tar
lineage-17.1-20210902-UNOFFICIAL-klimtwifi.zip
open_gapps-arm-10.0-nano-20210910.zip
[I also tried CrDroid (crDroidAndroid-10.0-20210903-klimtwifi-v6.21-LuisROM.zip) with the same result]
Each time I attempted to do this, I ran into the dreaded 'E1001' error. I had no idea what I was doing wrong, but I stumbled across this thread and successfully installed 'Resurrection Remix' (RR-N-v5.8.5-20201230-klimtwifi-Luis.zip) with the appropriate 17.1 OpenGapps (open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210910.zip). I would much rather have the newest version of Android provided by LineageOS -- but this at least gave me the success I was looking for.
Why would installing Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 (Android 7.1) help in any way to making a subsequent install of LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10) successful?
@darethehair which stock was the latest you had on it?
Perhaps a newer bootloader would help.
