[Q] Help status 7 phone useless

Hi
I have tried everything from flashing new Clockworkmod recovery to going back to original nothing takes.
Clockworkmod recovery v5.8.1.5 will not go away
and when I try to install ROM I get
symlink: error in /sdcard/romname.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
does anyone have any ideas?

Are you S-Off or do you have an unlocked bootloader? Have you relocked? What ROM are you trying to flash? Where are you getting your recovery? How are you trying to flash it?

Status 7 usually refers to a bad download or a wrong device Rom. Check that the rom you are flashing is the right for your device and that the md5sum is correct.

Unable to Flash CM.11 using TWRP (Fail error)

I tried flashing the latest snapshot, nightly and stable build of CM.11 using TWRP. I did a factory reset first then tried flashing CM.11 followed by GApps, but all I get is "Failed" in red when I try flashing the rom.
Any Ideas?

Flash Philz Touch recovery and then flash cm11.

Update: Sadly that too failed. The last thing it tries to do before receiving the red "failed" error is this: Updating partition details...
The error is this:
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '.sdcard/Android Roms/philz_touch_6.15.4-d2att.zip
Im going to try and put these flashable files in the root of my SD card and see if that helps.

If it fails again, find and select Copy Log to SD. Often this will give more insight into the cause.

Try flashing via Odin.

CM11 installion

hello i want to get the cm11 on my htc one m8 but it allways say error :

Try to adb erase cache, re-install recovery by adb. Make sure it the current TWRP version, or try Philz. This is a known issue on TWRP, and not uncommon.

[Q] CWM Recovery not permanent

I was trying to install CWM recovery on this phone , I used Odin to flash recovery . I flashed recovery then removed battery and then booted to recovery then CWM loaded but as soon as I restarted the phone and again tried opening recovery phone took me to stock recovery , how can I solve this? I am running 4.2.2 firmware . And also I tried flashing CM11 with this temporary CWM but package installation stopped because of a error (status 7) saying some problem with partition , I was not rooted at the time . Is root needed to flash CM11 ?

1. Once u boot into CWM recovery flash SuperSU (If u don't have get it from here). This will ensure that the recovery doesn't revert back to stock.
2. Status 7 error has various reasons. Ensure that u r using most latest recovery and perform clean install.

it was telling me some error with partition like eemc when i flashed cm11 , can this be due to because i was't rooted?

First of all root your device.
Secondly install philz recovery using odin.
Then flash your desired ROM
(i suggest you aogp dual sim).

emmc is a partition i believe, if you see such errors, recheck if you are using the correct recovery... I flashed my tablet with wrong recovery and it wiped out all my partitions. It's as good as a brick now if not worse.

Not able to flash any Rom.

I was trying to flash Cynogen Mod 12 and my phone gave an error as this package is for device: a5,a5dug,a5dwg,a5chl,a5ul; this device is htc_a5dug.

Installation aborted.
After restarting it got bricked and it is stuck on HTC logo.
I tried flashing other ROM and also the Stock ROM as i can use CWM or TWRP on my phone and also can use fastboot.
But i get the same error everytime i try to flash any ROM. Please Help. Its been a day my phone is bricked.
