No Amazon Prime from eBay Reseller - Amazon Fire Phone

Caution! Like many others, I purchased two fire phones via eBay from a seller named qualitycellz for $120 each. The phones were sealed in the original retail boxes. Upon registering the phones to my Amazon account I did not receive the additional years of prime. I reached out to Amazon and received the following response last night. I contacted the seller on eBay for a refund and have not yet received a response after two days.
Amazon Response:
Hello,
I'm sorry to hear you haven't receive the Prime membership associated with Fire Phones you purchased.
I'd like to inform that Amazon and AT&T are no longer selling the Fire Phone.
Only purchases made from Amazon or AT&T authorized resellers were eligible for the limited time offer of a full year of Prime with the purchase of a Fire Phone.
Third-party sellers are not authorized to make this offer in connection with the sale of the device.
Further, I checked your account and see that the Fire Phones (XXXX and XXXX) was purchased from a third-party seller.
Since you purchased the Fire Phone from third-party seller, your device is not eligible for free Prime Membership.
If the seller (from you purchased) listed the device with free prime membership, please contact them directly as they listed the promotion.
If they aren't able to help you with this, you can return the Phone to them for full refund.
If you've anymore queries, you can always contact us via email or phone by visiting the below link and we'll help you right away.

If the reseller mentioned prime in listing you can return, eBay will even sort this out for you. If prime wasn't mentioned I think your knackered. Sorry.

I had bought them from the same seller and did receive the free year of prime with both phones. Once Amazon stopped selling the phone, the free prime offer may have gone with it.

Yes, the auction title and description clearly stated that prime was included. In addition, a label was applied to the packaging for each phone that included instructions for registering the phone to receive one year of prime. I have notified eBay and the seller and initiated a refund/return request.

Thousands including me, received prime with Fire Phones purchased from qualitycellz after Amazon and AT&T stopped selling the Fire Phone. Although the seller will have to issue you a refund, I think Amazon is responsible for you not receiving prime on your two phone.

I agree! I wanted to make people aware of Amazon's policy change as there are still many current eBay auctions promising prime.

Don't know for sure, but eBay feedback mentioned that Amazon imposed a cut off date of 9/30/2015 for honoring Prime as a result of Fire Phones purchased from third-party sellers.

According to amazon's response NO one other than themselves or at&t has the ability to sell the phone with prime bundled. But that got to be wrong. Ive seen it offered on multiple sites for minths now. Surely we wouldve heard something before today.
Also, given amazons great customer service, Im surprised they didnt just give you a year regardless.

I registered them on 9/29 and did not receive prime.

I'm really sorry for you. That means the info on eBay feedback was incorrect. Qualitycellz has a really bad problem on their hands and will have to deal with many complaints. I hope for your sake that once you complain you get a full refund (and maybe also get to keep the phone).

Duped as well
Like you, I also fell for this trap, purchasing two of the phones from qualitycellz.
And, not only am I stuck without the 2 years of Prime I thought I had, one of my phones arrived completely broken. The back was ripped off, showing the guts of the phone, and the screen was warped. Oh, and it did not power on, even after charging. I've contacted the seller, but haven't heard back yet.
I have been an eBay customer for over 10 years, and though I've had a few minor issues in the past, I've never encountered anything of this magnitude. The feedback system is supposed to protect the buyer; but in this case, it was no help, as I bought the phone before the "Prime expiration date" (Sept. 30) and tried to activate it afterwards (Oct. 1). And, the seller conveniently failed to mention the offer expired.
I'm usually over over-cautious about these "great" deals on eBay, but they got me this time.
Please be warned.

I purchased from the same seller, I received, unlocked and registered with Amazon and get my 1 year on 9/28. Did you unlock it or you went with AT&T?

The "no-Prime issue" is starting to surface elsewhere. See http://slickdeals.net/f/8106350-amazon-fire-phone-64gb-4g-lte-at-t-unlocked-smartphone-w-prime-warranty-149-99-free-shipping-ebay-daily-deal-10-price-drop?v=1&page=2

Glad I got my emails confirming my two years of prime. Sucks that many are having problems, especially when prime was on sale for $70 or so.

FWIW, I think eBay sellers are left holding the bags when Amazon pulls the rug under them.

I wonder if this means we'll be seeing some $25 Fire Phones on eBay now.

Unfortunate for those who are left holding the bag . . . but I might actually buy another if that happens. Got my kids 2 cheap no contract phones that we never activated to use as music players last Xmas and wish these had been floating around then.

I came really close to buying one from that seller when it dropped to $110. But its like i said earlier, why is the issue being reported now? These phones have been advertised by 3rd party ebay sellers since july. So unless a lot of buyers decided to keep it quiet (not likely) then of course some of these sellers sold phones bundled with a year of prime, right?
I could see where this seller in particular sold them with no prime, but Im baffled that only at&t and amazon can sell the prime service. Im pretty sure that wasnt the case last summer.

I think Amazon gave these sellers til 9/30 to get rid of the inventory. Amazon needs to close the book and account for all the Prime before new fiscal year.

I was finally contacted by the eBay seller tonight. They offered me a 20% refund if I wanted to keep the phones, or a full refund if I wished to return them. The seller explained that they have been trying to convince Amazon to honor the promotion but they would not budge.

Where to buy GSM Version from in USA?

I'm looking to purchase the Galaxy Nexus GSM, and I am located in the USA. A few different places have it for ~$450, and I am trying to find the best place to purchase it from.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-I9250...F01A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335213120&sr=8-1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176322
For anyone else that purchased it in the USA, what do you recommend? I have read of issues with fake ESNs, and I thought I read that there were different versions of the actual device (Japanese version, etc). Any major things to watch out for? Where did you purchase from, and did you have any issues?
Update - Responses from Amazon Sellers:
Global Mobiles:
the Samsung I9250 Nexus comes with a return policy of 30 days and 2 years manufacturers warranty in Europe. You can claim the warranty by yourself at Samsung Europe or ship the phone in case of a warranty to our office in Germany, where our technicians will handle the claim for you and send the phone back in the US after the repair.
And its EU stock. The warranty is valid in all EU countries, not limited to one.

Got mine from Amazon with next day shipping. I have prime so it was only 4 bucks for next day.
I'd say Amazon is safe as long as you get the one fulfilled by amazon. If anything goes wrong with the phone when you first get it you'll atleast have amazons great customer support and be able to return it.
My first gnex was from daily steals and the phone had a defect within first 24 hours. It took nearly a month to resort things and get my money back although they refunded my money in its entirety I'm pretty positive amazon would've been a lot easier.
Other places with positive reviews are negri and expansys. People say these places offer some sort of warranty which you'd normally wouldn't get with a gray market phone. They essentially act as a middleman for you and samsung. You send the phone to them and they send the phone to country of origin (typically samsung UK) for warranty repair. A bit longer of a fix but pretty good for ease of mind.

I got mine from Expansys-USA... last I saw a couple days ago it was $469. It's official yakju build as well. Worked out especially well for me as it shipped from the same state (Illinois) so I got it in like 48 hours from ordering.

But isn't there a way to change the build of the device anyways? So the only difference is software based, not hardware based? I know the Nexus S had a LCD version, and an AMOLED version - I don't need to worry about that here, do I?
I sent a message to a few Amazon sellers, asking them what the warranty situation is, and what version theirs are (what country they import from). I'll try to report back when I hear back from them.

Yes the only difference is software, and you can change any i9250 or SC-04D to "yakju" and get Google OTA updates. It takes all of about 15min to do.

I wouldn't expect much as far as warranties go with an Amazon seller. If you want a warranty I'd go with a reputable non-Amazon seller like Expansys or Negri (and even then its shady at best and you're trusting that they can take your phone and forward it to Samsung Europe). You're going to spend a bit more for it though so I'm not sure if its worth it for you.
I got the $450 Newegg phone. It turned out to be a Docomo SC-04D, made in Korea, 12/2011. I have had zero problems with it. I immediately flashed yajku IMM76D and went on my way. No problems with the IMEI, it matches the one printed on the box. If the NTT battery cover bugs you, there are stock battery doors available from any number of sources.
Expansys dropped the price down to $469.99. Good deal, especially with all the warranty and repair service they assist with.

That would be greatly appreciated - I'm kind of stalling at this point as I have a busy week of school to get through, and don't need a new toy to play with. I'm leaning towards Amazon as I have a bunch of gift cards that I need to spend.

Correct no warranty but an order fulfilled by amazon should give you a window of being able to return a defective phone. In my case I believe it was 7 days.

You have a lot of faith in your phone. My Nexus S screen went bad 6 months into owning it. If it wasn't for the warranty it would have been an expensive repair.
Also keep in mind that with a voided warranty (buying anywhere but Nergri or Expansys) Samsung will not fix your phone even if you pay them, because it is grey market. A few unfortunate people on XDA learned that the hard way.

Which problem did you face?
I got mine on Thursday from amazon for 430 $ but I didn't realize it was from saxx mobile, now I'm super scared its a refurbished phone, 20 $ didnt sound like a huge difference so i didnt suspect at the time, I should have been smarter and should have not trusted that too good to be true price phone hasn't arrived yet

Haha. Not too much faith but enough faith. My first phone I acquired through Craigslist but had a small scratch on screen and banding that was driving my ocd insane. My second through daily steals samsung did actually offer warranty fix but I had to ship to country of origin which was in Poland. Luckily I had people I knew in Poland who id be able to ship to. But alas daily steals offered me a full refund since it was prior to 30 days. I figured after two faulty phones I was due for an alright one.

You should be covered by the Amazon A-to-Z guarantee if it is refurbished or anything. If you have any problems, I recommend talking to Amazon customer service. They tend to be pretty good about stuff like this.
Would the warranty start working in the US if Samsung starts selling the gsm Galaxy Nexus here, or do they somehow know that it was imported and not allow people to send it in for warranty repairs?

I would get it from the Amazon link and make sure the one you buy is the one that is fulfilled by Amazon.
I purchased one from ebay and ended up getting the NTT Docomo version with a horrible screen with all kinds of banding.
I then purchased one from Amazon (same link) and got a regular (UK?) version, with a much better screen.
I will be returning the ebay one.
Both arrived with the Samsung seals broken (probably because they had to be unlocked)? But they were pretty much brand new in condition.
Good luck!

Release of SW2 in US?

According to Sony, it's not officially released in US yet. So where do you guys buying it from? I see it's being sold on Amazon (US) but is that an official Sony US retailer? Others mention eBay and someone mentioned a store in the mall (DC I think?), etc. I understand Amazon merchants could be from UK or in general outside of US, the same with ebay. So, are there any official US stores that sell it? And for those who bought it in US, where you able to contact Sony support (in US) to answer your questions?

Amazon listed as 2-4 weeks and the other companies listed on Amazon are not Authorized Dealers. I checked. So I found it on Newegg. They were in stocked and shipped next day. Love the watch but I wish there were more apps. Where's the weather app and no watch faces.

Hi guys, if I buy the watch from Amazon.co.uk with metal strap, can I get support from Sony USA under warranty terms? Does Sony have international warranty for their products? Thanks!
newegg all the way. originally ordered from mobile fun, but after they backordered it for two weeks despite them having it listed as in stock and ready to ship, i cancelled and called newegg. the girl said they had about 76 in stock so i ordered it from them. 199 +25 for overnight shipping. ordered it friday and got it on monday.. ive had the watch for about week and i love it, even though the amount of apps is pretty depressing. give me a music widget and a battery percentage icon, and ill be good for a while. :good:

Sony.com has both models in stock now for $199.99/$219.99. I just placed my order. There appears to be a glitch right now that allows you to get the 3 year replacement/accidental damage plan for free! Add the watch to the cart, but do not select a warranty plan. Edit the warranty plan within the card and for some reason the 3-year plan is $0. I used Chrome, if that matters....

MobileFun is bad news. I ordered from them and wasn't even given a confirmation email. Very poor communication and their US phone number just rings. I had to get my credit card company involved to cancel my order. They said it was in stock when I ordered (Oct 15th) and wouldn't give me any further information on shipment or backorder status.

New to Fire Phone, think I got a hell of a deal.

Amazon Prime was something I was going to renew anyway for $108.25 after tax. For $31.74 more I got The 32 GB phone unlocked new, an okay charger, an okay set of earbuds, and a damn solid USB cable. Anyone know how much longer people that buy new amazon phones have to redeem their 1-year offers, because I'm seriously tempted to buy another...
Also I'm trying to side-load the play store but running into white screens, any ideas?
We don't get the prime offer in the UK but I was tempted to get another fire for my wife as its so much better than anything else for the money.
You might need a specific version of gapps. Or try clearing cache and data once it's installed.
Here's my final solution to white screen problem with ATT locked FP from my thread.
1.Factory Reset
1.Root with Kingroot>
2. Install Safestrap
3. Flash the flashable 4.6.1 stock image with a flashable SuperSU
4.Install google services apk
5.Profit:good:
Make sure you disable the 2 System Updates, Amazon Device Client, DCP Platform Contracts.

phone is rock solid so is the new CM11 ROM
I got rid of the back/home/list button strip to get more screen real estate.. paid 140 with prime. cancelled netflix for amazon video so some more savings there.. great deal

Not sure what you are asking. When you buy the phone with a free year of Prime, the free year is redeemed immediately i.e. if you don't have Prime right now you start getting a free year immediately, and if you already have Prime you get another year added whenever your current membership is added. As far as I know, if you buy 3 phones you get 3 free years but you get them added to your account now, you don't redeem them later.
You can't, for example, get a Fire Phone this week and then redeem your Prime membership in 3 months. However you can give a NEW Fire Phone to someone else and they get the membership. I bought my daugher a Fire Phone for her birthday, but I bought it with my account so she wouldn't get any emails or see it in her devices etc. As soon as we got the Fire Phone we called Amazon and had the phone (and the free year of Prime) moved to her account.
If you are asking, how long will Amazon keep offering the free year of Prime with a Fire Phone? The answer is, only Amazon knows.

Buy a new phone, and don't decide to right away activate it.
So example, if you buy a new Toshiba Encore Windows 8 tablet that came with an offer for free $25 Windows Store Credit on eBay, no matter what time of the year you bought it, you had/have until October 31 2015 to register your tablet and get the credit. So if I bought the tablet inMarch, as long as I didn't redeem the offer, I still had months before I reached the deadline for the offer.
Now I bought a Fire Phone on eBay, and almost immediately activated the phone and got my 1 year of prime extended. Now assume sometime in the near future I buy another Fire Phone, new, with the promise that it comes with another year of prime. About how long do you have to turn it on/redeem the offer before Amazon no longer authorizes their offer? If you didn't buy your phone through Amazon, but through a reseller, the serial # to that phone wouldn't automatically be registered to your Amazon account, you'd have to set it up...
But theres going to be a point in time when registering un-opened/un-used phones will no longer authorize an approval for 1-year of Prime requests. I'd like to know when that deadline is so I could plan gift-giving around it, or avoid future "New" Fire Phones with promises of a free year of prime.
Chocolina, I have not seen amazon clarify, and I couldn't find an answer on the internet. I SUSPECT that if you buy a fire phone from Amazon and specify that it is a gift, Amazon will be contractually obligated to offer a free year of prime whenever the final user decides to activate it. That obligation would exist because Amazon told you that the phone comes with a free year of prime. You really need to read the fine print if you plan on buying a fire phone now but not gifting it soon.
On the other hand, Amazon may have a different deal with bulk resellers (ie the reseller may be told their phones only have a free year until a certain date), and then amazon man not be obligated to offer the free year.
FYI a few months ago the fire phone had an OS update and Google apps didn't work anymore. There were a couple of weeks with much pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth until people got them working again. Given that another update may break Google apps again, possibly permanently, a fire phone may not be an ideal gift.

Where do you GET a H815EU in the US?

Does anyone know of a reputable vendor that will sell me a H815-EU- the one I can actually unlock bootloader on, from LG directly?
The "international" versions on Amazon aren't reliable- already bought one, and although the box was factory sealed and said "H815", it was a Singapore version that LG disqualified from unlocking. Of course, I'd rather use a 1950 pulse dial landline telephone than deal with the crapware on the US carrier versions (since we can't flash custom roms to defeat that crap).
LG doesn't seem to sell this directly, either. At least not in the US?
I'm sure I could find "some guy" on teh Intarnet that "has one"... but looking for a reliable vendor that will sell NIB factory sealed. I'm not looking to turn this into a solicitation post!
Any recommendations?
Don't know of anywhere in the USA. I had to import mine from Handtec.
Are there any additional sources for the 815EU that ship to US?
Chase bank and I got into a fight over letting me use my credit card at Handtec (the former is now fired, rot in hell) and the latter probably thinks I am a scammer for trying four successively declined charges... I would too, nothing against them.
I ended up getting it from Amazon... forgot you could order simply by doing "amazon.co.uk" rather than accepting the country default... your US login also works, but it won't recognize you if you are signed in from the US and don't do it again for the UK site. Think it was like $26 shipping and duties, which is pretty damn cheap.
Wonderful phone, BTW... I love it.

Do you have the link to the seller you used on eBay? I actually looked into this, but the sources I found would not ship to US.

I looked up my order, and sure enough, that seller no longer ships to the US.
This is the link to the one I ordered: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WIYGXBG
It appears one of the leather cased ones has a seller that does ship to the US.
The one I got (bootloader) unlocked just fine, just please note for your own sake that there are a lot of ones claiming to be H15EUs (like the first one I tried, a Singapore edition) that LG won't consider eligible to unlock.
There are probably other countries' Amazon sites with different shipping policies, if you can speak languages other than English... I tried for the low-hanging fruit.

Screen issue

My Pixel C has been flawless since I bought it two months ago on Swappa (New/resale). When I booted it up this morning, there are a lot of lines across the screen and the colors are washed out. Looks like a TV from 40 years ago with rabbit ears and very poor reception.
No mods of any kind. Locked bootloader with stock 7.0 November security patch. NRD91N
I've searched and not found anything similar on this forum. I tried clearing cache and factory reset without any effect.
Any recommendations before I try to contact Google? Not optimistic about their support because I didn't buy directly from them.
Update: I contacted Google Support, and while they were polite they basically told me to go pound sand. They said they could provide no support since I didn't purchase from the Google Store. Said "return it to the store you bought it from". The guy had never heard of Swappa, and didn't care. So, while I bought a new device via Swappa, it appears I'm left holding the bag.
I did open a case on PayPal, but I am not optimistic about the outcome. The seller has been unresponsive, so far.
Any recommendations appreciated.
Update: while I wait for some resolution from PayPal, one thing I've learned, that I'll pass on to other users is: do not buy a "new" device on eBay or Swappa. If you didn't buy it from Google or one of their authorized resellers and something goes wrong, you're left holding the bag. Google will do nothing to help you.
Final update:. PayPal refunded my money today. Decided the claim in my favor. Three cheers for PayPal. Raspberries for Swappa and Google.
Yikes, sorry to hear that. My Google RMA was fairly painless, though I purchased through Amazon.
If your PayPal case falls through, you may have an option to request reimbursement through your credit card (if you used one through PayPal). American Express, for example, provides extended warranties for most purchases automatically. I've used that for other electronics that have failed on me in the past and they've been very easy to work with.
I will certainly stay away from Swappa!
