Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock
Download http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/510940/G928P-Root.tar
Flash to AP using odin 3.10.6
reboot, and rooted.
Enjoy, I take no credit in the development of the root, just making it public..
We need to know what software version this is based on. It wont flash if it is the old software. We have no tar for the new software. Very easy to soft brick with no way back until the new tar is released. If you haven't taken the update it might be safe to try. As we have the tar for the old software. Would be nice to have a recovery as well. Thanks for bringing this.

And why enable usb debugging? Enable OEM Unlock makes perfect sense and would be required, but why enable usb debugging to flash this?

I googled the file name he put on the download file and found a few chinese websites that claim to be able to root our phone model. Not sure if its the same file but its interesting to look at. Make sure to use the auto translate unless you can read it lol.

I have a Sprint SPH-L710 Samsung Galaxy S3 that I rooted with "SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT V7.0 Drivers, Backup, Root, Recovery + MORE". Everything went smooth, achieved root, Bluetooth works, but WiFi toggle won't even turn on or connect to internet. There's a FAQ on his thread about the "Bluetooth + WiFi" not working, but I don't have any custom ROM's flashed, at least that I'm aware of. I'm new to rooting. If anybody could help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated. If I posted in the wrong place, I apologize. Thanks
Model Number: SPH-L710
Android Version: 4.1.2
Build Number: JZO54K.L710VPBMB1
Usually, broken WiFi/Bluetooth is kernel related. If you slide the screen to the side (landscape), does it flip the page you're on upside down? It's possible that the Rootkit installed another carrier's kernel, such as T-Mobile's, or AT&T's. Even so, flash a recovery (download Goo Manager from the playstore, give it ROOT access, and hit menu > install OpenRecoveryscript and let it install TWRP for SPH-L710 model. Latest should be v2.4.3.0.) Then boot into recovery and install the kernel from the link below.
http://goo.im/devs/freeza/d2sprStockKernels/StockMB1KernelOptimized.zip
See if that fixes your WiFi. This is a slightly modified stock kernel provided by Freeza.
I appreciate your help! I flashed AOSPA 3.10: Hybrid Mode, and my WiFi is working. Should I still follow your instructions or leave it be?

My instructions would be necessary if you were on a Touchwiz-based ROM, but you've went to AOSP which uses a different kernel so you do not need to follow my instructions anymore. Happy flashing!

look into Kingo and Vroot before you use it or recommend it. Its been know to have malware and even sends your phone's IMEI number to a server in China... ask yourself why would they need to do that. I've also heard from a video on YouTube that Kingo installed a camera.apk once you root... again, ask yourself why... spying?

I recommended because I use that one after use root de la Vega to root my device the first time, after root de la Vega my screenshot with spen doesn't work any more and the palm motion screenshot wasn't working either. I went back to stock ROM via Odin, and then re root with kingo root, I never seen any Camera application installed after root, and I don't know anything about IMEI sent to China, but sometimes this stories are like bigfoot, Aliens, The Moth man, etc. You just need one person to start a rumor about the IMEI sent to china, and then a paranoia start to spread around. Thank you for your concern, and I read those threads before I rooted with Kingo and I'm a happy camper at least until Tweaked come out of the Alpha and beta station then I will brake the Knox flag, and flash Tweaked in a heart bit.

I uploaded the smaller files to my box account. I can try uploading the 1.8gb file to my box but I can only host it for a couple of days since I need the space. Ill update my post once its done.
Update: Box wouldnt let me upload. Mediafire was the only mirror I could do. My og post is updated

Just to prevent any false hope, the configuration for the kernel was included with the T-Mobile version of the source so that is what made porting it so quickly possible. Root may not be as easy. I do hope it is, though.

With the prerequisites (rooted, working Heimdall / copy of flashify), yes
There is a root method for the At&t Note 4 now?
Here it is! Root for 5.1.1 thanks to @djvoleur! I helped a little but he did most of the work. Thanks also goes to @g.lewarne for his work on Unikernel as a couple of their ramdisk commits were needed to get this going.
This will trip KNOX. It will. Trip. KNOX. IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIPPED KNOX YET - THIS WILL TRIP IT. ALSO - you CANNOT downgrade after you take the OTA so be sure you want it.
I hope that's clear enough?
Instructions:
After you've booted into OF7 or OFE, go to Settings > About device and tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go back and select Developer options and turn on OEM unlocking
Reboot in to download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down)
Use ODIN to flash boot-of7root.tar
After your phone boots you will now have root! You may also be back on stock recovery, which is fine since we don't have a working one for 5.1.1 just yet
You'll notice constant messages about security issues because of KNOX and the kernel being permissive. To get rid of these, open Titanium Backup (or your personal favorite app freezing app) and freeze SecurityLogAgent.
Download
OF7: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347768984
OFE: http://1drv.ms/1LeDH1z
If you have any questions, post in this thread and @djvoleur and I will be watching. And if you'd like to send any trucks full of money, I'm sure we can arrange that via PM.
ENJOY!

Yes, this is root for the OF7 update. Best way to update right now since we still don't have a stock tarball for OF7 yet is flash back to stock OE2, update, and flash this kernel for root.

Hey Everyone!
I am at it again! I have made leaps today with my custom ROM.
It is not ready for release just yet but wanted to get a thread started for when it is ready, to get some opinions and further clarification.
Required:
1) Any G930 US Variant
2) Must be on the G930U PEH firmware prior to my ROM
3) Rooted with Flashfire
4) I highly recommend you know how to push apks. It will start out lightly debloated but will be extremely debloated by the time I finish!
What will it contain in v1?
1) Pre rooted
2) Debloated
3) Xposed
4) V4A
5) Might be missing stuff for v1, wait and see!
Suggestions?
Please post early suggestions below. They might not be considered for build 1 but will all beconsidered as we go.
Questions?
1) Maybe someone can chime in but to my knowledge the U firmware will work on any US variant S7? I am asking for clarification since my reasoning of using the U firmware is for it to be useable on all US variants to avoid having to develop for every variant separately (I dont have time for this.)

1. Will you provide links to or host a copy of the G930U PEH firmware?
2. I suppose that since this is the universal firmware, Verizon's Mobile Hotspot provisioning will not prevent us from using Native Mobile Hotspotting....can you confirm...and if not, can you apply a a modded version of the Mobile Hotspot software that bypasses the provisioning (similar to what psouza has done with his VZW debloat script for PE1)

1) I am going to use a rom.zip but you will still need the eng boot to have root i believe so odin 930U then root usig eng boot then flash my ROzm in FF
2) his rom is in the vzw s7e forum
Is the goal here to remedy the battery life issues and CPU hangs that the eng boot/root process created? I'm excited!

The zips provided by psouza are for the PE1 build only. He mentioned somewhere in his thread that it has to be compiled for each build.

I recommend you check out my other rom threads to see what the goal is..
essentially I shoot for an extremely debloated rom which typically does include better speed and battery life but that is more of a side effect imo

Not necessarily. some of it does work.. ideally however i like to bake things in.. the less zips to flash the better.. i wont worry too much as i dont release roms that dont work well to begin with

The fix/fix+debloat zip that disable Verizon's Wi-Fi hotspot tethering provisioning does so by writing a modified framework-res.apk to the device, therefor it needs to match the firmware version. The patch is not complicated though (it's literally just changing/clearing two XML values), so anyone could decompile a different version, patch the xml, recompile, re-sign, and bundle that for any Verizon firmware version.

Gotcha.. its not my top priority to be honest but its not difficult to do so ill most likely do it
I can confirm the U firmware works flawlessly on a G930V. I have also flashed @jrkruse's PlayStore ROM on my G930V, and it works great!
@elliwigy, I have used your ROMs in the past. Needless to say, I'm excited to see you are making one for the Verizon S7!

When does the FC happen exactly? I've had this issue when modifying ROMs, so I might be able to help.
